Why, why do you bring up the color of the candidate skin????? That is EXACTLY what is WRONG with the liberal media, they are just plain stupid. It is not the color of the skin, it is the color of what is under the skin. God created us with all the same color under the skin, thus we are all alike beneath the surface- initially. But it is the color of a man's heart that should be the real measure of the candidate. While Obama says that he is a Christian, all that he says speaks loudly otherwise. His attendance for 20 years aat a church that spews hate (black or white) is deplorable.

There should be a qualification process for the voters, just as you have bad-mouthed the LIVs, you would really show pseudo-indignation if there was an intelligence test to vote-be able to read, be able to discuss, be able to understand, and be able to repeat some of the FACTS.

As a reporter, you have an obligation (which you have abrogated) to report the news. You get an F. Obama wilol destroy the fabric of Democracy as we know it in this country and replace it with his wealth-distributing socialism. The working class will be over-run by the welfare class that has no desire to produce anything. Oh, maybe not, Obama speaks well of doing things for the poor, but he has never put his money where his mouth is and contributed to any charity -look at his tax records for the past 10 years.

Maybe God is fed up with America with its sexual perversions, its lack of respect for life, and it's me-me-me ways. The gates to Hell are wide, but the narrow gate to Heaven is open to only those who have faith in Jesus Christ, that Jesus died for our sins, and through his blood on the cross we can be saved, period.

McCainforchange2008: valid difference of opinion, glad to have a rational discourse even though I completely disagree with your opinion.
Texnewmex is still in the dark. I am more concerned about McCain's association with and direct support of Keating only a few years ago, the type of association directly related with the financial collapse we are seeing, Obama's supposed association with the man who committed acts when Obama was 8 years old andwho has no record of criminal activity in the past 30 years is not something that scares or influences me nearly as much. It is silly character assasination. If we want to go back in history, why not look at McCain's relationship with the Viet Namese he confessed crimes to? It is just plain illogical nonsense.association

cleo the blacks had t vote for a white candidate because white candidates were all there were!!!!!!

I swear I'm going to scream if I hear one more person say or imply that anyone who doesn't vote for Obama MUST be doing so out of racism. I'm voting for Obama...because I agree with his policies more than I agree with McCains. However, I have heard some perfectly logical arguments from McCain supporters that have nothing to do with race, I just happen not to agree with them. Like some people have said, this is going to get very ugly if Obama wins and someone screams "racist" every time someone criticizes him.

  • Posted By: romanbrady @ 10/26/2008 4:04:31 PM

This is utterly ridiculous. To claim that the only way McCain can win is through racism and then to add that the GOP won't be utterly ecstatic by his victory but rather subdued and given in to cynicism?! Give me a break! You imply that the only good, virtuous, or even logical result of this election is an Obama victory. One of the many incredible benefits to a McCain victory in November will be that the media has lost another election that they foolishly attempted to hand to the Dems.

  • Posted By: robshan @ 10/26/2008 4:04:18 PM

It is deeply troubling that this author would assume anyone who disagrees with Senator Obama is either a racist or a "L.I.V". Why can't I disagree with the Senator's view points without being labeled a racist? I have found that the disagreement between Conservatives and Liberals come from fundamental differences that are usually undebatable. Someone may believe that the government should help people and give them opportunity to be successful. Others believe the best way for the government to help to to simply stay out of the way. How do you argue these points? Both seem very reasonable, neither one is stupid or racist.

Dear texnewmex, I can wave the flag with anyone, but that is not the issue. McCain served in the military and should have been washed out ofa career as Navy pilot after crashing his second jet fighter. But having family connections insulated him, as will surely happen to the children of McCain & Palin. I admire those who serve in the military as much as you. But the fact is that they have NO CHOICE about when, where or why they are sent. the issue is who is going to be in a position to send them to war and for what reason. I simply do not think McCain has the stable judgment to make the decisions that I could respect that might endanger the life of my children. Mayybe you do think he does. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But as you might see, this difference has NOTHING to do with race.

    • Posted By: FloridaPalmFlower @ 10/26/2008 4:03:44 PM

FINALLY. You had me at - "I do not think McCain has the stable judgment to make the decisions..."

That IS one of my biggest concerns about McCain -

Thanks for such a succinct and eloquent comment.

As with other demagogues in history, the messmerized electorate will get glimpses of reality. And think up loud "Why am I voting for this guy? he hasn't show any real record of accomplishement other than "neighborhood organizer"
The salaried specialist and technitians working for the Democratic npmenee have these reality shock often. "Othey than the pay I get from this guy, what is it that makes me such a fanatic for an inexperienced, unproved, charisma-missuser person?

    Johnathan Alter,
You are a j o k e! You uninformed and whining l i b s have never provided any valid reason why Mr. Obama SHOULD BE ELECTED. The best you can do is play the R A C E CARD over and over ad nauseum. We are all BEYOND TIRED of your pathetic l i e s and inability to form an intelligent, objective argument. It never occured to print the truth -- that many people will not vote for Obama because they believe he is a F R A U D. So your pathetic whine that W H I T E S WHO DO NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA are r a c i s t is as much of a J O K E as you are. YOU DID NOT COMMENT IN YOUR P A T H E T I C ARTICLE OF HOW MANY POINTS OBAMA WILL GAIN BECAUSE HE IS B L A C K OR HOW ANY AA 's will vote for him because he is B L A C K - WHICH IS R A C I S T. But your so called reporting only goes one way - doesn't it - you are a l i a r and an a r r o g an t b u f fo o n to think that the THINKING, INFORMED Americans will buy your p a t h e t i c empty words. You should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. 2008 THE END OF JOURNALISM. No wonder the liberal MSM's ratings are down -- and falling! I myself have stopped watching because I like objective intelligent presentation of the facts over P R O P A G A N D A but you people will not get a clue until it is too late for you and your t r a s h y publications.

As an author and former small business owner living in Orlando I would like to give Newsweek a little geography lesson. I-4 does not go all the way to Pensacola, it only goes from the very northern tip of Tampa to Daytona Beach. If you wanted to get to Pensacola you would have to take I-4 to I-95 to I-295 to I-10. That being said Obama is spending a whole lot of campaign dollars here; every time I turn on the t.v. or radio I have to hear his voice. I voted early for McCain. I chose McCain because I believe he is the more ready of the two candidates to be President. I didn't not vote for Obama because he is black, I didn't vote for him because I don't believe in his policies. I've seen countries with Nationalized healthcare and it's not a pretty thing. I don't agree with "spreading the wealth" because small business owner's will have to lay-off employees if they are taxed higher. Also last time I checked Governor Palin has more experience then all of them. Are people not voting for her because she is female??? I also don't agree with Obama's "Messiah" complex, he's just a charismatic speaker in an expensive suit. I also can't see the next First Lady being an anti-American, which his wife is proven to be.

    Underground Sanity ,

I don't know the circumstances about the 2 jets you refer to that he crashed, but maybe you have some way of gathering all of the confidential facts about those incidences. But your statement that he should have been taken ot of service because of that is ridiculous. What do you know about those missions and about what went down? I can't imagine that you can presume to make that kind of judgement on a man who has given his life in service to this country and even further, as a POW for 5 long years. What sacrifices have you made for this country? None of us, myself included, could even hope to come close to the things John McCain has endured for his country.

And as far as McCain having the stable judgement about decisions and stragies of war, well his record speaks for itself. Obama doesn't have clue as to what military strategies are or how to proceed should an attack on a hostile country be necessary. Surely you don't want someone, who has not even been a part of any military branch or managed any company or city or state to all of a sudden start bumbling around trying to get his arms around issues he has no idea how to deal with.

When men and women CHOOSE to join the military, they know going in that they don't have a choice in when or where they are deployed. But they understand that and choose to be wherever their country needs them most.

And by the way, his family didn't "insulate" him from anything. In fact, McCain's torture as a POW in Vietnam was far greater because his father was a high ranking officer, so I'm not sure where you are getting your information in that respect. His service in the Navy should not be trivialized like that especially if you don't know what you are talking about.

Oh what a web the liberal elite have woven. The elites hunger for Power is so great they have choosen to use the ultimate most devisive angle they could play, race. And by selecting Barack Obama as their sacrafical lamb it is grossly apparent of their motive. Blinded by the policitcal forces that have nominated him, Obama faces a bar set so high that he will never reach it and failure will surely engulf him. I pity him in a way.

After reading this article I felt physically sick. THEN, I read the comments. Thank goodness I am not alone and realize there are just stupid, sorry for the basic word, people who would vote for a man...Barrack Hussein Obama (makes me want to vomit even typing his name) that they can't prove he is a citizen--can't find his legal birth certificate, has all these ties to anti-American muslims, has written books denying that he is half white b/c of slavery, and wants to sit down with terriorist and have a discussion....I think he would discuss how kill all the Americans if elected. There are so many reasons why BHM shouldn't be President, it only took one reason to know he is not the man for the good and success of the U.S.A. I am horrified if he is elected and plain scared for my childrens future...for ALL our futures. McCain and Palin are the only ones who love our country and wants it to succeed.

The purpose of all this, the slanted coverage in Newsweek and MSNBC, the programmed ridicule and personal smears, the DNC-employed blog writers herein is, has and will be to discourage Republican turnout and encourage Democrat turnout. Any questions?

To suggest that any "democrat" who does not vote for Obama is because of the color of his skin is totally insulting. You must sleep a lot and dream-up these ridiculous ideas or else you have drank way too much Obama Kool-aid. You also insulted the intelligence of anyone who doesn't vote democratic as "low information" people. I have watched cable news stations only to become nauseated at their propogandga instead of actual "factual news" reporting. The TV stations of ABC, CBS, and NBC are also drinking too much Obama Kook-aid.

Where is the true study of how many people will vote for Obama simply because he is black and not the other way. How many black celebritys tell the same story of people asking how to vote that never have before. Those people are only voting for Obama because he is black. Ask them one policy he has or one thing he plans on doing and you get no answer. They small fraction of Dem voters that would switch to the other side because Obama is black is a small fraction of the people that are voting for only because he is black. I have voted for a Dem president for the last 20 years I am not this year and its not because of Obama's color. Its because the Dem lead congress and senate that i'll helped put in power has become the most left leaning, and most spending congress of all time. I cant afford to not have a least a few checks and balances in the goverment. While I hate Bush I at least know enough about the goverment to put some of the blame where is belongs like on congress. So while I will switch this year it is not because of color or creed inless you consider the color green and how it relates to my taxes and money.

I'm not standing up for these lame-brained Democrats, but the fact is Obama has no policy and doesn't know what the hell he's going to do if he is elected. probably he'll just follow along with Pelosi and thwe rest of the Marxists. He's a media created phenom whose only clain to fame is his oratorical skills; all blow and no wick.

Wow this is some "great" journalism. I live in Orlando, which is in the I-4 corridor and last time I checked it doesn't go all the way to Pensacola it only goes to Daytona Beach, then you would have to take I-95 to I-295 to I-10 to get to Pensacola. Okay so enough of a Geography lesson I will tell you that Orlando is a huge melting pot of different ethnic groups, and there are just as many Obama stickers on cars as McCain stickers. I have to hear Obama's voice every time I turn on the t.v. and the radio he has so many ads running. I personally already voted and it was for McCain because in my humble opinion he is the more responsible candidate, not because he is white. I don't care about race I've grown up here and gone to school with hispanics, asians, blacks, whites. I just support small business and don't believe we need higher taxes. McCain/Palin 08', oh and what about people not voting for Palin because she is a female, last time I checked she has more experience out of all candidates???

The media is very liberal and quite biased on its coverage of both candidates for president. What they are forgetting is that the majority of Americans are quite conservative and Christian. They make fun of both those facts. Also they constantly belittle McCain/Palin and lavish compliments on Obama/Biden, they think that the majority of Americans are stupid and not well read, garnishing all their information from television. Obama is more smug and arrogant than Bill Clinton ever was. He is very elitist and dosen't expect the undercurrent that will most likely be a backlash incurring a stinging defeat as he believes his own media HYPE.

The Electoral College was created to prevent MOB RULE. The USA is a Republic not a true democracy, so if the popular vote counted for anything except State government, then the most populated states would be able to decide who would win the election.

The Founding Fathers encouraged us to be watchful of politicians and the laws they add to the Consitiution and we:

Warned you of the dangers of excessive taxation. Now you labor nearly six months of the year to pay taxes at all levels as your economy suffocates under this cruel burden.

Warned you of the dangers of foreign entanglements. Now thousands of men and women suffer and die in foreign lands while your government plans a military draft.

Warned you of the dangers of government spending. Now your growing National Debt stands at 8 trillion and your babies are debt slaves from the day they are born.

Warned you of the dangers of a private Central Bank (The Federal Reserve) and a debt-based monetary system. Now you drown in credit card debt as you lose your homes to foreclosure.

Warned you to obey the Constiution because power corrupts. Now a secretive government can spy on you and detain you at will under the guise of "National Security."

Warned you of the dangers of political parites. Now you have two powerful parties that conspire against the people, plundering you while they pretend to oppose each other.

Warned you keep your nation sovereign and independent. Now you submit to UN and NAFTA authority as your borders are diliberately left open to endless illegal immigration.

Warned you to be distrustful of government. But you believe the sugarcoated falsehoods of ambitious politicians and now you no longer know who to trust or what to believe.

Warned you of the importance of an honest, independent and unbiased press. Now your centralized "Mainstream Media" is full of propaganda, distortions, and omissions.

Warned you that the price of liberty was eternal vigilance. But while you were distracted by the ballgames and TV shows, government stole your liberty and bankrupted your children.

Oh and by the way the media is omitting an essential component about the Obama campaign, that if he

I am tired of all the racism I see in the comments by bloggers all over the place. Are we as citizens of the United States that hateful? The nasty comments about Blacks on welfare sicken me. I worked in the welfare system for over 30 years and can tell you that it is not only Blacks on welfare. I really liked the choice of John McCain by the Republicans and after Obama was selected over Hillary Clinton, I thought John McCain would have been a good President. Then he chose Sarah Palen to run with him. I thought that was a horrible choice so decided to really research the two candidates. I came down firmly on the side of Obama. I am a retired White woman, so I'm obviously more conservative than a lot of younger people, but I have a list of wants for our great country. I want to see a UNITED States of America, without all the negativity and hate mongering I have seen come out of the Republican campaign this year. I want our country to be respected around the world--not vilified as it is now. I want us out of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I want us to use diplomacy in place of force wherever possible. I want a strong military that is there when we absolutely need to use it. but when we use it, it is used for our protection--not because we disagree with the way a country is being run. I want our politicians to work for us, not for their own wellbeing. I'm very afraid that if McCain is elected, he will not make it through his first term--he looks ill and has been very erratic during this campaign. I cannot imagine Sarah Palin as President--she is not prepared, and from what is coming out of Alaska, has used her power there in a very underhanded way. She has been very negative in this campaign and I cannot picture her in charge of our national policies. She is a way right fundamentalist Christian with some really skewed views on things. We need someone a little more in the middle of the road than "that one."
