I'm still waiting for someone also to explain why Joe Biden said Obama will be tested within six months of taking office on the international scene! Come on Obama Voters! Let's hear it! Why? Is it Israel? Is it Iran? Is it Israel is going to strike Iran because Obama's views on foreign policy are to sit down with Iran? Is it Iran will strike Israel? Come on, Joe knows something

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 2:26:03 PM

It's been shown that over the last several presidents, there is always some international test within a few days to months after an innaguration.

It happened with Bush 2, Clinton, Bush 1, Regan--and the list goes on and on.

We all know that there is a certain bias in the media. Regardless of the way the media portrays these candidates, I just can't believe that anyone who watched the debates can still believe that McCain is best for this job. There was no media filter there. We got to see just how they both behave under pressure. McCain looked like an old, angry, negative, closed minded, reactionary. Mr. straight talk couldn't even look the other man in the eyes. While Obama showed himself to be calm, rational, open minded, intelligent, and positive. Like it or not, these are the 2 candidates we have been given. (I still think we can do better in this great country) But this is our choice. As for me, I'm going with calm, rational, open minded, intelligent & positive.

if obama loses it is not because he is not the best among the two but because of his color and that america as a nation is still biased. period.ben a

Love the stories about the Palin makeover and the fact it cost $150,000. Gee, what was the bill for Obama to take his campaign jet and crew - and Secret Service detail - to visit grannie? We'll never know because the feigned outrage of the lib. media doesn't allow them to question anything about Obama and his ilk: it's off-limits since questioning anything he does is immediately attacked by playing the race card.

    • Posted By: horsigirl @ 10/26/2008 2:58:11 PM

That is what is wrong with this country, people who would view a visit to a gravely ill relative were a bad thing? How do you make the comparison, aren't both flying around the country in the campaign...what a rediculous statement.

I would never vote for Obama ever the man has been in Congress less than four years!! How in the world can anyone believe he is qualified to be the President of the United States. Obama tried to loose the war in Iraq by suggesting we leave two years ago, then not supporting the Surge which has proven completely sucessful, next he is against expanding drilling which will help to free us from foreign oil, so what if it will be ten years before we see results, if we had drilled 10 years ago when the idea was proposed we would have the oil now, we need to start drilling. Also the idea that Obama is a new fresh set of ideas is ridiculous, he has voted with his party on everything, if he voted at all, because clearly he has shown that he would rather not vote on hard issues because then people would know where he really stood on the issues.

Further, as to newsweek and their writers, along with all the other major news agencies, they have no credibility what-so-ever they are completely biased and manipulative, their propaganda is on pair with Goebbells.

So go ahead and call me racist and a facist, that is the norm for people who are extremist and intolerant.

Have you heard of Abraham Lincoln? His congressional resume might interest you.

      • Posted By: mmpolla @ 10/26/2008 2:57:36 PM

Their is no comparison, and to compare our greatest president ever to Obama is a fantasy. Compare A.Lincoln and his policies during the civil war and G.W Bush during the current war, there is a more accurate comparision. See I know history..believe it or not school trained with a masters.

It seems people seems to forget that blacks have ALWAYS voted majority democrat in 90% favor, but of course some whites will always try to point the finger back at blacks when they refuse to admit themselves that they are racist. It's absolutely ridiculous. We have seen with our own eyes the racism that exist within the republican party. Does Obama being an Arab ring a bell? Of course not, so I have to say that a majority of these folks who claim they would vote for a black person is lying through their teeth.

The Truth? Original? Wake up America. Obama's close loss of this election on November 4th will be THE racial issue of our time. The OJ trial and Rodney King will pale in comparison. Because white America cannot win on this one even if they are voting against a man because of his principals and not his race. Obama is a pure liberal and many (but not most) Americans realize it but are afraid to speak about it for fear of being acused. Until the curtain closes. I am not afraid to speak about it and severe division of this nation is coming is coming the morning of November 5th. Too bad, but it's coming....

I'll say it again: This is the same nation that RE-elected an unpopular George W. Bush during an unpopular war less that 4 years ago. Obama is seen by many as a pure liberal, while Kerry really was not.

Translation: McCain will win this election. And the racial issue of our time will be upon us when anyone white is accused of racism as McCain takes the Presidency.

You Dems always bring Race into the race as this article starts off with..Then go onto the blame game and calling anyone not voting for Obama stupid and Racist...Talk about a biased editorial...Higher taxes will not get this country on track and neither will more welfare programs..Why not make it a law to have 3 yrs to get off of welfare? Input some incentives as going to a trade school paid for by us and learn how to work..I for one am tired of supporting generation after generation of welfare addicted people..

Are you joking? The assertion here is that if someone is against Obama, he's racist and uninformed. If the media did half of its job, we would know that Obama is far from a flawless candidate - that if, in fact, McCain had half of Obama's shortcomings (and associations), he would not even be in the Senate. The field is so tilted towards the Democrats with the media and educational institutions shilling for them, voter fraud piling up votes in contested states, undocumented campaign finance dollars filling the vaults, and a populist message that says "I'll take the money from the evil rich folks and buy your vote with it," it's amazing there's even a race. But just to be sure, Newsweek is going to try to guilt people into voting for Obama by suggesting that they are harboring latent racism if they don't. It would be pathetic if it weren't so serious. I have never in my life seen a person with as much of a messiah complex as Obama - talk about audacity, what kind of person writes not one, but two, autobiographies before the age of 45 when they haven't even accomplished anything? But dare point this out or speak out against his policies, and you are a racist.

  • Posted By: neos @ 10/26/2008 2:50:57 PM

In the sixties the Democratic party inititiated civil rights reforms and made it clear that there was no room in the party for bigots. The Republicans of that time saw an opportunity and pandered to this element. Since those days African-Americans have ALWAYS voted over 90% for the Democratic candidates, all of who were white. Put up Alan Keyes and see what a sorry percentage of the vote he gets.
Political history is interesting, isn't it?

I am a conservative, and was a Democrat years ago until I learned about the members of the "Good Ol
Boys Club" ie Kennedy, Biden, Byrd, Kerry, Gore, Pelozi, oops, did I say Boys? I changed to Republican and
have never regretted it. I believe in gray hair, experience, and maturity which the youngster running against
Mr. McCain has none. For all the Liberals out there claiming to be Christian, how can you vote for abortion?

John F Kennedy was a Massachusetts Representative from 1947 to 1953 and a Senator from 1953 to 1960 which constitutes 13 years of experience in Congress. Quite a bit more than Obama does. Of course that does not change the fact that the only person in the running for anything right now that has exective experience is Palin. Not that that matters much to the constiuency that seems to be more interested in how much her clothes cost. And as far as people getting tires slashed and other such things no candidate should or can be held accountable for the actions of a limited number of supporters. However a candidate can and should be held accountable for the actions and words of a pastor whom he has known for twenty years and a wife who is altogether to airheaded to keep her mouth shut.

    • Posted By: timbaker66 @ 10/26/2008 10:32:24 AM

Point taken on JFK, but calling Ms. Obama a airhead, high style with that one. True no canidate can be responsible for all their supporters, but when was the last time Republican supporters were threatened in this race? I am a Regan Democrat and supported McCain in his previous runs, and I see hints of the man he used to be when he tries to elevate the race, but he is not the canidate he used to be. I can only assume the party's requirement to hold to the religious right wing has led to these changes. If he was the same man he was in 2004 (and he would have probably picked Liberman or Ridge as VP) I would be supporting him

      • Posted By: mamapapa @ 10/26/2008 12:27:41 PM

McCain supporters are threatened every single day in the South---NC specifically. Neighborhoods report extremely high numbers of vandalism to homes with McCain-Palin signs and a high number of vandalism crimes against vehicles with McCain-Palin bumper stickers. I have personally witnessed these "racially-motivated" crimes in several cases where homeowners were verbally attacked and called names simply for placing McCain signs in their yards. I am an educated, well-read, and very informed middle class voter, laid off from my white collar job 5 months ago but have never had need of our welfare system. To me, the choice is CLEAR. But I don't owe any poll, party, or news outlet insight into my personal preference.

And you can guarantee I won't have a sign in my yard risking the safety of my family!! The pollsters and the media will find out when the votes are tallied and the rest of the world learns how I (and millions of others like me) voted. We are the new racially-oppressed...but we still have a vote. Uneducated or uninformed? Quite the contrary! We sit quietly now NOT for lack of interest or lack of information but for self-protection---we can clearly see the offensive line-up and thus make an informative choice to let our vote be our voice, and our defense. And just to assuage those race-speculators: I'm as white as Obama is and my ancestors populated this country thousands of years before even McCain was born.

        • Posted By: grock40 @ 10/26/2008 1:58:16 PM

Let me get this straight - you're as white as Obama and your ancestors have been here for 1000's of years....riiiiiiiiight. God help us. : (

          • Posted By: mamapapa @ 10/26/2008 2:48:40 PM

Uh...yeah...what part of that can your limited mind not process? Obama's mother is white...therefore he is presumably 1/2 white.....I'm at least 1/2 white myself. Some of my ancestors are native American and inhabited this country for several thousand years before McCain was born (i.e. back to at least 500 BC). What's so awful about that? Seems you just don't understand genealogy...it's okay though...not everyone has had the opportunity to trace their heritage back dozens of generations. Some are limited by the destruction of records, buying/selling of people, and the fact that some records were never written to begin with. There are many branches of my own family that I am unable to trace, but others that I have traced back 23 generations to Spain, 18 generations to Syria, 12 generations to Scotland, and so forth. Not every American can claim to be Native American, Hispanic, African-American, or European-American. But like MOST Americans, I am a melting pot of mixed heritages. The point is---race has nothing to do with my political inclinations. Your closed-mindedness entirely missed that point.

  • Posted By: mrmalcolm @ 10/26/2008 2:48:35 PM

As you can see from the response by 'rapidron', I would say sense and decency isn't as common as one would think in America. It's always amusing to hear and read about the group of people that would vote against a candidate based on race and yet speak of God (Jehovah) in the same breath. The problem is the 'god' they are speaking of is the one that is usually portrayed as having horns, a pointy tail and pitchfork.

  • Posted By: jguy12 @ 10/26/2008 2:48:08 PM

Could this article have been more demeaning towards Americans? Are you insinuating that everyone in America is racist? It feels to me that the author of this ridiculous article is trying to guilt people into voting for Obama out of fear of being deemed a "racist" if they vote otherwise.

This is not the first black political candidate to run for president, but he is the first to change history by making it this far in the race. I bet 95% of the black community has supported more white political candidates in their life time than the white community has supported any black political candidate; I don't think racism is a good argument why blacks vote for Obama. I don't deny that there are some blacks voting for Obama because he is black, but the same can be said for McCain; just remember blacks are the minority of this country, but it seems that Obama is winning in the polls so I guess there are fews whites voting for Obama as well: Are these whites racist against other white people?/again-racism is not a good argument . The fact of the matter is if Obama was a white person we wouldn't be having this discussion.

  • Posted By: michaela3 @ 10/26/2008 11:08:16 AM

One poll I have not seen is the one that considers ALL the democrats who will be voting for mccain. As a clinton democrat, an ardent democrat of 35 years, I will NOT be voting for the obamination. The democratic party chose to ignore the will of the people to annoint the chosen one, while obama and the dnc said that the clinton supporters will fall in line behind him because they had no choice. Well, we DO have a choice, and I will not be voting for ANY democrat this election. Clinton is the only qualified candidate for president this election, and the dnc betrayed her and her supporters so that kennedy could be president through his puppet boy.

    • Posted By: grock40 @ 10/26/2008 2:46:49 PM

Do you have a bible and gun to go along with your bitterness? Clinton lost and threw her support to Obama - get over it.

    • Posted By: bootcamp03 @ 10/26/2008 12:38:18 PM

Only is the USA is a man who is 48 years old may be president called a "puppet boy." If you are truly a Democrat (which I do not believe to be true), your person LOST!! Obama did not cheat his way to the nomination. It was a fair and tranparent race and she come in second place. As in all races, there is only one winner. All humans are created equal in the eyes of God, but in your eyes some people are more equal that other people.

Mr. Bill 99% of african Americans are voting for Obama, while Obama is probably going to get better than 40%
of the white vote and it is whites who are the racists???, do YOU realize how incredibly STUPID you come across? I suppose Jeremiah Wright whose sermons obama listened for years isn't a racist?
IN MY EXPERIENCE TODAY, African Americans are far more racist than white Americans.
Tell me what exactly has Obama accomplished , what experience does he have that qualifies him to be president? Conservatives are stupid??? In my humble opinion I can't believ how naive, ignorant and stupid
liberals who think Obama is going to change the world are???

Mr Bill, who are you to call Republicans stupid? By having more than1 Party just means ther are difference of opinions, and I guess we will see who wins on Nov 4th . I think it does not matter what the color of the candidates skin is, the only thing that matters is what's best for our country and I believe that although Obama may be a good man, he is not the solution for our country's problem. Higher taxes for small business' is definitely not the way to fix our economy. The majority of small business' definitely make more than 250,000.00 a year, so taxing anyone that makes more than 250K would cause those business' to lay off employees and cause more unemployment. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out!!!! Also, his medical plan is socialistic, I come from Germany and believe me you don't want that kind of medical plan, I lived it and I say NO THANK YOU, unless you like going to the dr at 7AM and sit there until 3PM hoping to get called in to see the doctor, and then there is a big problem with the selection of medication that you can receive, if it is not on the approved list well then you can pay for it yourself, so there you have it it wil not fix our problems here it will just add. Then of course for all the people that do not work and pay no med ins we the taxpayers are going to have to pick up the cost. I say again no thank you.....
