I hear Racism used that if Obama doesn't win its because some white people are racist, but what about most of the black people voting for Obama because he is black. Isn't that the same thing?

Please vote for a President based on their political views and not on the color of there skin.

    • Posted By: modon @ 10/26/2008 12:26:37 PM

blacks voted for Clinton ,Gore and Kerry(all white) at the same rate....but didnt for sharpton when he ran...so how can his race be an issue...we vote for him because we like his policies not because he's black if Hiliary was in the same position she would get the same 95% as Obama

      • Posted By: WinRay @ 10/26/2008 1:50:27 PM

I respect your response, but I feel in some cases some people are voting solely on the color of skin and not on the issues. I wish we could live in a world where color didnt matter. You have to believe that some/alot people are voting for Obama because they want him to be the first Black President know matter what he believes and that is what I dont want to happen. Nor do I want McCain to win just because he is white.

The Lord said you shall not suffer punishment for the sins of the fathers. Once again the liberal media caught in the self-admission that white guilt isn't just a black nationalist strategy but a media strategy to heretically enshrine Political Correctness within Christianity. Go Marxist-Leftists. I, nor most white people today, have sin tied to segregation, Jim Crow or slavery. You can't extort me~boycott the liberal media.

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:45:51 PM

Hahaha, omg, I'm just surprised you didn't end this comment with: 'white power!'

      • Posted By: NoGuilt @ 10/26/2008 1:49:31 PM

There again that's a comment specific to a PC party enforcer with predictable tactics. Villify anyone who stands up to the multicultural marxists. White power (not the hate stuff) is indeed an important currency of this country. Your refusal to admit that ties you to soft socialism.

There hasn't been a Democrat majority in Washington since 1965, and before that, 1933. It looks like we are about to see another such event take place. By November 5, 2008 both houses of Congress and the Presidency will be in Democratic hands.

For those readers who can think for themselves, think back to 1965. Kennedy and the Civil Rights movement. A pivotal time in our history, one we can all be proud of. And 1933, when FDR gave us the New Deal and turned around the Great Depression. If you think about the past century, the only two times that we have had a liberal Democrat majority, America got STRONGER and BETTER.

wow isn't it funny that you claim all those white Americans will vote for Mcain, yet you make no mention of the 90% of Aferican Americans who will vote for Obama. Race is a factor on BOTH sides of this election , but the news media can only see 1 side sad truly sad

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:48:42 PM

wow isn't it funny how you claim that you don't know that blacks are largely a minority compared to whites and that they could just as well be voting to the facts that point McCain and Palin in such a bad light, while Obama has run a good and relatively clean campaign built on policy? It's funny that you don't see this and refuse to, and at the same time it is truly sad

Before voting for Obama, read up on Gov D. Patric in MA. They both have the same talk and walk. Then see what the Ma Gov has accomplished since he got in office.

    You will be very surprised!!!

Tell me one thing that McCain is going to do differently than Bush as it relates to the economy. And tell me why anyone thinks that is working.

Do you see a problem here? Who is controlling this ghost ? What group or country is he planning granting special favors or put above the law?

    To Rosie,
How could you possibly think the mess we are in is due to Democrats.. ? For six of the eight years Bush was in office he had a Republican led congress. He was able to enact almost anything he wanted at will.. What did he do...? He gave the highest tax breaks to the rich in history (Tax breaks that the Democrats want to let expire). His other biggest "accomplishment" was to promote fear and take away our right to privacy by enacting what is so inaptly labeled "the patriot act". Bush will go down in history as the worst president of all time and trust me that is saying something because there was some pretty stiff competition for that title.
Fannie and Freddy's decline is due to Republican deregulation enacted during Bush's two terms in office. In 2003, President Bush???s chief thrift regulator ??? holding a chainsaw in his hands as a prop ??? boasted of his plans to cut banking regulations, including the scope of the reinvestment act and his enforcement staff, which he carried out over the next two years. Deregulation that John McCain has supported for most of his political career or at least until this crisis, when it blew up in his face.

Enter Your CommentTell me more about Obama. If you have anything to share. Just what I thought, nothing Obama the unknown one. It's a fact, clinton started Freddie & Fannie & set the rules. Look deeper into it. for Obama, he was present.during voting :-)
For Nancy...I guess she will get her private jet to & from San Francisco to DC if Obama wins!

      • Posted By: Pia1981 @ 10/26/2008 12:03:17 PM

If you say it is a fact that the Fannie and Freddie meltdown was caused by Clinton, then by all means show all of us here proof to that fact....a link please..thank you.

        • Posted By: Yolie @ 10/26/2008 1:44:59 PM

Clinton himself said the whole problem started with the subprime lending loans which went into effect in the late 90's. Clinton said this when he was on the Letterman show. But yet, the MSM blames everything on the republicans when this is not true. Barney Franks, another democrat made it worst. Remember people, if Obama gets elected then Franks, Pelosi and Chris Dodd comes with the package. These people started this whole mess.

      • Posted By: gail-tx @ 10/26/2008 12:10:29 PM

Senior citizens should be horrified about what McCain's plans are for Medicare and Medicaid, much less Social Security, taxation of health benefits and no write-offs for health premiums. I cannot brelieve there could be a senior citizen who would be so uninformed on the issues that they could prefer McCain over Obama. Let's worry about the present, not Obama's heritage (which incidentally makes him a miracle American.)

  • Posted By: Mknopp @ 10/26/2008 1:16:13 PM

I don't care what color he is, if he can't repect the American flag and lay his hand over his heart when they play the National Anthem and understand it repersents his freedoms, he is not an American period. I resent the fact that everytime anybody talks about Obama they turn it into race. He is a radical, he is Muslium, he is so far left most Dem can't even see he and his assoications with questionable people give me pause. I don't trust him, I don't like hin and he will not get my vote. And if he does win all you political correct tree huggers will drag us right along with you and your lack of common sense. Give him 4 years and you will see change all right, socialist change, but maybe thats what you need if you let this man b.s. his way into office.

    • Posted By: DeCosta @ 10/26/2008 1:43:56 PM

It's ridiculous to even think that Obama is a muslim now, but anyway, since when was it a crime to be a muslim? Do you even have ANY idea what the religion is about? The very meaning of the word "Islam" means peace in arabic, so go figure... It is exactly ignorant opinions like this (based on mass hysteria, instead of fact) from ignorant citizens with a 'frog in the pond' mentality which will eventually bring down a country that has such potential to be great. Go read as much about other countries, religions, their culture and attitudes and THEN decide on your candidate. Trust me, the path will then show itself...

At present if you sell your principal residence and have lived there at least 2 of the past 5 years before the closing each person is entitled to a $250,000.00 credit on your profit in the sale. Does the Obama tax plan tamper with this in anyway. The McCain plan does not.

  • Posted By: Scribbs956 @ 10/26/2008 12:52:56 PM

It seems that the editorial staff at Newsweak is relying on Obama to win the election. Of course they would because they are 100% behind their choice of candidate. This article is nothing more than a propaganda piece and should be thrown in the trash can. The very implication in the main headline shows their bias right up front. Making excuses and not knowing what will happen only gives them license to produce such unnewsworthy articles. In all my 52 years, I've never seen such blatant one-sided reporting on a political campaign. Clearly, Newsweak is just another arm of the democrat party. This is why I will never subscribe to, their magazine or ever take them seriously.

    • Posted By: hardworkinmom @ 10/26/2008 12:59:14 PM

I agree that Newsweek is not reporting fair at all! The reporter wrote 3 pages of basically- NOTHING. No substance to the article. There were no statments made that would sway me. They already have Obama winning. I HOPE NOT!

      • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:43:35 PM

Yes, even the whole point of the article was about Obama NOT winning. Learn to read.

  • Posted By: TonicaW @ 10/26/2008 12:53:03 PM

Since when is a vote for McCain considered to be an ill-educated or racist vote?? Who is this reporter to insinuate that I must be a lower class, ignorant, easily-influenced-by-my-betters lemming because I chose differently than he did? When did it become the "stupid-American" choice to vote for your principals instead of what the media and Hollywood tell you to? The unfair bias by the media to pillory McCain and Palin and ignore the gaffes and obvious mis-steps by Obama simply because he is a "black man" and therefore untouchable is what appalls me. I am constantly amazed that the media thinks that America is so easily led that we don't see the conspiracy. If this election were reported fairly and with equal importance placed on the positives and negatives of both candidates instead of automatically assuming that Obama is the "Messiah" as some media call him then we may have seen a different race. Instead we have the media cramming their views down the throats of the public and attempting to bully or shame them into "going along". Shame on you.

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:42:30 PM

What you don't understand is that 'the media' and 'hollywood' are filled with people just like you--not some faceless liberal group as Rush Limbaugh would have you hear.

And stop calling Obama the mesiah--it's blasphemous. Plus, it shows who you're listening to and parroting so brainlessly--as all that kind of talk comes right out of Rush's mouth, or those like him. Why don't you try rading a newspaper with an open-mind one day.

John McCain is a big joke. First he picked a running mate who cares nothing about spending political and public funds for her own private use. And second, she should dye her hair blond to match the dumb lies she continues to try to feed the voters. Like Palin, McCain has the distorted perception that the American voters believe his lies as he talks on both sides of his tongue. Somehow, the both John and Cindy McCain have a way of slipping through the cracks when they break the law. It is my belief Cindy McCain should have the position of "Drug Czar" for the U.S. Her drug use and marriage to John is a perfect example of the drug McCain is trying to influence voters with. As McCain tries to explain his position on several key issues, he sounds like a fish talking out of the water. Not only is he not in touch with the reality of the needs of the American people, he doesn't know when to admit he has no knowledge of a particular issue. A perfect example is his choice of running mate. He didn't know her well. He probably picked her because she is a woman and he possibly believed she had was nice to look at. Now when voters look at Palin, we see someone who doesn't mind: Spending her party's money to fund an expensive wardrobe, and spending time defending other questionable ethical issues. Maybe McCain looked at Palin, as he looked at Cindy when he decided he would divorce and marry her. He saw a Cash Cow". In other words, "I am marrying you for money, honey!" Now with the ticket of McCain/Palin, the American people will be sorry when we find out that if they somehow manage to fool the voters, or steal the election with shady vote counts; that we wake up and find they have robbed this country of its finances and send us into the dark ages. After McCain and Palin lose the election, maybe they can take their acting skills to Hollywood and audition for leading roles in:
The Matrix - Truth Revealed. Voters are smart enough to know that John McCain is not the kind of President this country needs.

My name is K. Smith of Humble, TX. and I approve of this message.

It is garbage written by idiots like the author of this article who are likely driving me toward voting for McCain.
Is the media really so insecure that they feel they need to think for the American public. Also, It is insulting to say the least, that slavery be mentioned in this article. After all, I believe it was a Republican named Lincoln who ended Slavery. Give me a break. The next President, whoever he is, will need all of our help. This kind of garbage "journalism" is nothing more than someone abusing the privilege of writing for Newsweek in order to preach their own political agenda. When will this kind of garbage stop?

Many people say that the next president needs us all behind him etc.

However if that Nazi Palin gets into the White House together with that unstable, rage-filled, unqualified old man I guarantee many decent, educated, intelligent, contributing Americans will flee in terror rather than worry about being "disappeared" in the night for dissenting.

McCain / PAlin = The Axis of Evil

Then, in the last week, the LIVs swung back to the default choice: John McCain. Some had good reasons other than the color of Obama's skin to desert him; many more did not. In October, a study by the Associated your article says: "Press estimated that Obama's race would cost him 6 percent. The percentage was smaller, but still enough to give the presidency to McCain" What you fail to mentione in your bias article is that black racism will give him 95% of the black vote. If we assume that only 50% of blacks vote in this election that would give him over 20 million black votes. Now, I guess your article is certainly bias when it fails to mention that black racism toward white McCain will swing the election to Barrack Hussein Obama. See, it is all how you want to frame the argument and you, the writter of this article, are either black or a communist sympather.

    • Posted By: grock40 @ 10/26/2008 1:40:26 PM

Hey Juan - What were the black people when they voted for white males? Most blacks are democrats and vote for the candidate that support their concerns. Don't make ignorant comments that blacks just support people based on race.

Let's discuss racism Liberal Democrats? You branded Coin Powell and Condi as uncle Toms. Now, Powell is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It seems that everyone who does not support your liberal agenda is a racist. Now, who is the simpleton?

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:39:44 PM

Who branded Colin Powell as an Uncle Tom? First, that is a pretty racist thing to generalize, and you don't even know what that shows about you. Second, I voted for Clinton and against Bush twice, but never had I lost my respect for Powell. It was easy to see that he was manipulate by the Bush administration and resigned in disgust. I think most people see it this way, but YOU want to generalize this notion that is so FAR FROM THE REALITY one can only say you're making it up to serve your own misguided way. Using the Uncle Tom argument was foolish on your part, indeed.
