Yes, Americans should invest in IRONY. That stock is though the roof since hockey mom Sarah Palin started strutting her stuff in $5,000 ruby colored shoes.

And the Anchorage Daily News, Alaska's largest paper, has just endorsed Barack Obama for President.

The IRONY stocks go up, up, up!

i question the authors reason for beleiving that the only reason mr obama may loose is because of his color.
He/she seems to think that a white person not voting for him is raciest. What does that say about the black person voting for him only because he is black. I do not beleive in mr obama's views, nor do i beleive in the clinton views (oh my god they are white).

A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government strong enough to take it all away. Thomas Jefferson. Poor people have been voting for democrats for 50 years, and guess what, their still poor.

Why is it that if you have decided not to vote for Obama it must certainly be because of the color of his skin? Why can't someone vote for McCain because they disagree with what Obama is claiming to bring to the presidency? It really seems to me the only people bringing race into factor are the ones that keep bringing it up when people don't support Obama. My vote would have noting to do with race but because I want the government to keep their fingers out of my health care and out of my checking account. I want to know that my children do not have to live in fear of a terrorist attack. I don't like the war as much as the next person but it needs to be finished properly. The live of the men and women that have been taken from this war will be taken in vain if we just up and leave a job unfinished. How are my feelings on these issues in anyway race related? And if Obama does win, will we spend the next 4 years saying yes to him so as not to seem racist?

I personally found the tone of the article to be extremely insulting. Racism plays no factor in my decision to support Senator McCain in the election on Nov. 4th. I disagree with Senator Obama on several important issues (health-care, the War in Iraq and gun-control in particular) and I'm offended that, even though I am a white male, my decision not to support him is dismissed as bigotry.

Regardless of the author's intentions, the main point of the article was that Obama lost the election because of racist americans. This is a ridiculous statement to make. For the author to assume that the only reason Obama could possibly lose is because of racism is as patently blind and partisan as it can be. If the author meant to call americans racist, then shame on him. If the author didn't intend that, then he is just a very poor writer, and shame on Newsweek for publishing the article.

That pretty much says it all. The libs must rely on "Low Information Voters" to win. Isn't "ignorant" a synonym for "LIV"? Pretty sad that they rely on out of touch voters to carry their BIGGER GOVERNMENT/HIGHER TAXES agenda.

I THINK IF YOU LOOK AT THE PLAN
combine McCains Elite Care and Palin's Fundamentalists First
FOR DEFENSE INDUSTRY AND CORPORATE CARE AnD far right values and preaching of ARMAGEDDON .and worker bees to support them..

The New USA will not look much different than The Old USSR.

Obama has been handpicked by the media to become our next president. The continuous attacks on the McCain-Palin camp are beyond bias, but an assurance of an Obama victory. While I agree race does play a part in voting for or against this candidate, the fact of the matter is his policies will not work on an economic or foreign policy level. The Israelis know better than we do that an Obama presidency is dangerous to their existence. This is not political bantering, but facts. Joe Biden said that Obama will be tested within 6 months, guaranteed. Apparently, they know for a fact what is ahead for us -- perhaps, WWIII, Iran against Israel, with Russia and North Korea fighting along side Iran. It's just a theory, but what else do you think Joe meant?

Talk about ignorance. The editor of this article is on stupid SOB. The only think he is correct about is that Obama probably will win. The reason only because the Left wing LIBERAL media has so avoided printing the facts of both candidates and imposed their slanted views. I and most of my family are Repulicans, I wanted to vote for Obama after hearing his speech 4 years ago. BUT he has so proven that he is Poll driven and changes positions and Friends, Church and whatever to meet the needed appearance. Being Black has nothing to do with it. His history with the ridiculous black church and Rev. Wright, Ayers and ACORN plus his unabatted arrogance have removed him from most people's support (that seek out the truth regardless of the Media hiding it). I have just lost many dollars in my 401K, not because of John McCain but because the Democrats blocked Bush's call(2001) for reform at Fannie and Freddy AND Elizbeth Dole and John McCain's bill in 2005. We don't need more of this kind of leadership and that is exactly where Barrack is!

If you are a swing voter and vote McCain ... YOU ARE A RACIST or so says this article. The most "racist" people in America are the blacks themselves. A Very Large Majority are voting for Obama ONLY bc he IS BLACK, but this article (and all the media) forgets to mention that. REVERSE RACISM AT ITS VERY BEST and perhaps the real reason why Obama will win this election.

What percentage of the population are blacks in the US compared to the white vote for McCain despite his incompetence and untrustworthiness??

I think you'll find something there if you actually open you eyes to it.

The voters??? fears can???t be of regulation or of social programs or of tax increases for the top 5%; rather the fear has to be of continued deregulation corrupted by greed and dishonesty and of continued neglect and apathy for the majority and of continuing patronizing and placating those stuffing their pockets and behind all of the problems. The Republicans deserve to be really ???spanked??? and even more importantly we just desperately need real change addressing the problems and needs of all Americans without the Republicans blocking it with their continuing focus on Special Interests and a select few. The Republicans are not the party they once were and they simply can???t be trusted. Even they, in desperation, admit that we need real change but now try to say we should fear Democratic control and spending, when they had eight years of leading the country with the result being the largest spending government, with more pork barrel, the largest national debt, after being given a surplus, the largest loss of jobs and all of the other drastic problems we face in our economy, country and globally. The Republican arrogance and self-serving irresponsibility has been clearly demonstrated and now the major challenge for the voters is to strongly support turning it all around. The voters literally need to ignore everything everyone is saying and simply recognize that we desperately need real change, complete change in order to accomplish the challenges we face! We really can???t take any more of the same.

We need change...God I hate that line! What the heck does that mean? Where are the specifics? Does anyone know? We are voting for someone because he wants to "change" things and because he wants to instill hope? Are we all in kindgergarden? Were's the substance? Change to what? Change can mean any number of things. Just because he says change doesn't mean the change will be good. Just because the current way stinks, doesn't mean the new way will be better. Change for the sake of change is a juvenile mentality. Is is possible that we are jumping from the frying pan into the fryer here people all for the sake of change? Sure this frying pan is hot, but I'm not jumpin. No way no how!

    Who do you choose?
Secretary Rice and Powell will vote for Obama because Obama "IS A BETTER CANDIDATE." Do I believe it?

    • Posted By: Yolie @ 10/26/2008 1:27:05 PM

I was surprised when Powell said that Obama has been a Christian all his life. This is a lie and I'm shocked that Powell is supporting a man he doesn't even know well enough. Obama himself said he has only been a Christian for the past 20 years. Maybe Powell thinks Obama is 20 years old instead of 47 years old.

If Obama is leading in the polls as he is today and McCain wins this white person will be in the streets rioting with many others. If this occurs our democracy is truly lost as the Republicans will have shown they can get away with murder. For those of you who say Obama is a socialist you may want to take a look at your own party members. McCain wants to bail out every homeowner who made a bad decision with their financing and Bush wants to privatize the banks. Throughout this countries history, starting with the founding fathers we have always had some form of wealth redistribution. That is what makes this country great we can find that middle ground that brings the best of capitalism with the best of socialism and everybody flourishes.

  • Posted By: stillinthetankforObama @ 10/26/2008 1:13:31 PM

Bottom line... McCain will win because of people like the writer of this article. McCain supporters are scared to say they are voting for him because of how crazy and emotional the liberal left has become. Once in the privacy of the booth, the levers for McCain will be flying. I can't wait to see the look on all Oberman's face... he'll probably be sent back to being a sports reporter where he belongs. I am ashamed to be a graduate of the same school as the piece of scum.

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:25:28 PM

Hahahaha, and McCain supporters are NOT voting on emotion??

Emotion: hate, fear, greed--are the TENETS of the McCain/Palin campaign!

  • Posted By: 1easylay @ 10/26/2008 1:25:18 PM

This whole article is unecessary. McCain and Failin' are done for.

It takes a Democrat to clean up after a Republinist, just like Clinton did.

We'll do it again and set things right. Republinists are just sh_t_ng their pants cause they know there's no way they can win and they will be the much deserved minority again and WE will make this couintry great again.

First step????????? Neuter all Republinists, or like they say at a Failin' rally, "Kill them."

On our high school grad blog, mostly from the late 1950's and 1960's, reflect Mr. Alter's assessemnt of Obama's poll numbers.
I'll explain quickly. Many of our high school chums now live in the Southeast, or the deep South. Our group has been engaged in ongoing debates about Obama and McCain. Many stated they won't vote for Obama because of (fill in the blanks) he's this or that. The debates never centered around any substantive issues like the economy, the war, etc.
For months, I had asked those opposed to Obama to please provide our group with reasons why any of us should vote for McCain. There were no takers on that challenge.
I lcall myself a progressive, have been all of my life, my father worked for the Henry Wallace campaing in 1948, those are my political roots.
Mr. Alter is correct, I believe, about why and how the pre-election numbers are shifting around as they have. I also agree that the American people will demonstrate to the world that we are a better nation than G.W. has shown.
Being a progressive, I'm alway optimistic that the voters will do the right thing.

How can any American regardless of race political affiliation read this and not feel uneasy. I from this point forward will never read an article published by newsweek, I hope it has an affect.

  • Posted By: AlwaysInTheRight @ 10/26/2008 1:23:59 PM

LOL - once again, the lib. media can't fathom that their candidate can lose. It would be great that, if the 'Fairness Doctrine' is, God forbid, ever reinstituded, it also applie to rags such as Newsweek, Time, NY Times, LA Times, etc.

Guess what Newsweek: not all of us want Socialism in the U.S.; not all of us believe in this grand 'income redistribution' scheme of Obama's. And yes, some of us do believe that who you associate with does matter. (Ayers, Wright, etc.)

  • Posted By: MYMONEY1946 @ 10/26/2008 1:23:56 PM

MSN, MSNBC, AND NEWSWEEK ARE TRUE JERKS. ALWAYS PLAYING THE RACE CARD. THEY ARE ALREADY MAKING EXCUSES AND LOOKING FOR WAYS TO EXPLAIN THIER LOSS ON NOV.4 THE REASON THEY WILL LOSE IS THAT THEY ARE RUNNING A CANIDATE THAT IS A LIAR,ASSOCIAYES WITH UNREPENTANT TERRORISTS,CROOKS LIKE RESKO AND CAN'T SPEAK A SENTENCE UGH UGH. HE HASN'T PROVEN HE IS A CITIZEN,NO LEGITIMATE BIRTH CERTIFICATE HAS BEEN PRODUCE. WHAT IS HE HIDING????? GET REAL AMERICA VOTE MCCAIN/PALIN
