This article is completely substantial--it's just that some of your still can't see it. Obama has run a near perfect campaign and his ideas and policy are supported by experts in every field. Even a good portion of Republicans support him and they have all provided good reason, from McCain erratic and negative divisiveness, to Obama's cool-headed, intelligent and classy responses to McCain.

Additionally, the McCain/Palin ticket have given dozens of reasons if not more for people NOT to vote for them. Everything from Palin???s lies and her own personal excess, to everyday hypocrisy they have shown. McCain has shown himself an inadequate thinker in debates, with policies that truly continue those that Bush had put forward. Finally, and very glaringly, McCain keeps pointing to Obama???s flaws when he in fact has similar or worse flaws, of the same type, of his own. Each time the media or other figures call him out???but apparently onto your deaf ears.

So if you think decent and rational people are voting for McCain, you have to be crazy. All the reasons in this mathematical equation spell it out: you would have to be blind by your own means, practicing self-ignorance, or racist, or all of the above to vote for McCain after all of this. But if you don???t see this, then you probably never will.

Do you see where the hatred is coming from folks? it's not from the right.

  • Posted By: kat1216 @ 10/26/2008 1:04:26 PM

Please- if Obama loses it's because he is inexperienced (who's playing the race card). If Obama loses it's because not all of 18 million Clinton supporters came back - most are voting Republican for the first time in their lives. If Obama loses it's because my vote and others belong to me and not the bias media or undemocratic policies of the Dem party.

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:14:50 PM

Wait, wait--you can call the Democrats 'undemocractic', but then the fact that you're voting Republican makes your point thoroughly brainless.

  • Posted By: purpleconservative @ 10/26/2008 1:14:24 PM

For those who love Clinton, let's not forget that he had a Republican congress. As for the mess in Washington, Bush deserve his share of the blame, but are the following Dems not responsible for their actions?

*Chris "Countrywide" Dodd- took sweetheart mortgage loans from Countrywide?
*Barney Frank- had an affair with Fannie Mae executive
*Nancy Pelosci- gave PAC money to husband
*Obama- advised by senior members of Fannie and Freddie on economic policy

What a joke these liberals are!!

  • Posted By: mjsweat @ 10/26/2008 1:13:58 PM

That was a very well written piece of commentary. I can't help but think that it very likly to occur though. I am a republican by most common beliefs but I am not convinced that anouther republican can help the problems we face now. I realize we have had repulican controled executive office base now for eight years and although I did not agree with clinton at all I dont think Obama is at all the same. But I think McCain will pull it of I just wish he had picked someone other that Palin as a running mate.

I can't believe Newsweek would publish this tripe. I've always had my suspicions, but this just proves how terrible this magazine and msn really are. How can a company claim to be a "news source" when everything they publish is so ridiculously biased?
How can this author claim that everyone who votes for McCain is racist and stupid (LIV)? That is absolutely absurd! And I'm not even voting for McCain...

  • Posted By: Sepulchre @ 10/26/2008 1:13:39 PM

I do not support either candidate and will be voting for an Independent candidate (yes I am aware it is throwing my vote away, but better to vote my conscience). That said I am perplexed. McCain supporters are very much about bringing up Ayers, Wright, and Obama not putting his hand over his heart etc. The part that leaves me confused is, if this all bothers you how can you support a ticket with Palin on it?
First her husband is a member of the Alaskan Independence party that wants Alaska to succeed from the US. Palin herself spoke at one of their meetings. There is not logic that can associate being a secessionist with being a US patriot, in the least. The Party its self has some very questionable ties to shady organizations.
Then there is the matter of her being blessed by her minister to protect her from WITCHCRAFT! I do not agree with Wright but knowing the era he grew up in, filled with racial inequality and strife, I can at least understand where he is coming from. Belief in witchcraft I cannot understand even a little bit. The psychology behind that kind of belief involved in thinking witchcraft is a viable threat is frightening on to many levels.

Why hasn't he produced a birth certificate proving that he is eligible to be president under the constitution? Why hasn't he released medical or educational records. Could it be he is a fraud and a charleton? Wake up people! NOBAMA

  • Posted By: acolman @ 10/26/2008 1:13:20 PM

The notion that is Obama loses will only be beacause people think he is socialist is absurd. The reason Obama will win the election is because he represents the interest of the mayority and a most anticipated and needed change in the white house. People know that if they elect McCain (who now says Bush failed in many areas and yet he supported and voted with him in more than 90% of the times) things will keep sinking down and the ship will eventually wreck. I believe that on election day the silent majority will make their voice heard, and Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States of America ! Vote for Change !

  • Posted By: mary miller @ 10/26/2008 12:51:45 PM

Wow-you really have issues. If Obama loses it will be because of his lack of integrity. He has no record, he has told many different stories to many different people on the same topics (some 'folks' call it lying)..he will have lost because of his associations with Rezko, Ayers, Auchi, he will have lost because he left a trail of poverty, murder, despair, drug addiction and slums in his district while buying mansions for himself, Reverend Wright and Tony Rezko. He will have lost because the one time he should and could have stood up for an injustice in this country..the JENNA 6 kids, he chose not to.
Get over yourself and take a look at a guy who wants to take the money I work 70 hours a week for and give it away. You really believe race is an issue-black and white?
The only black and white that is in play here is McCain. He sees the solutions and acts while Obama stands in the grey zone unable to make a commitment to anything else except his political campaigns.

what do you people not understand about $250,000???? why should rich people get off easy while the middle class suffers.

    • Posted By: leepdx @ 10/26/2008 1:08:54 PM

Obama wants to give that money to you, the working people of the country. Corporate socialism has already arrived we the taxpayer now own the banks and who really has the money? The few wealthy folks who would have to pay a little more.

  • Posted By: Scribbs956 @ 10/26/2008 1:04:42 PM

To those Obama supporters: Wake up before its too late. You have fallen prey to a Marxist. Because of your hatred of George Bush, you are allowing Obama to convince you that he will bring change to this country. That is one thing he will bring - change. He will take steps and impliment change towards socialism and communism. Obama can not tell you the change he has planned. He has NEVER once said what type of change he will bring. Can't you see, or do you refuse to see? Obama's entire political career has been centered around getting power. He has NO executive experience to lead this country. You are Trojans looking at the wooden horse and will bring it into the city. Stop being so blind!

    • Posted By: rapidron @ 10/26/2008 1:12:26 PM

We're blind?? You've been watching too many Palin rallies. You can't prove any of the above the same as I can't prove, "McCain is a nazi sympathizer who incites hate and only wants power to keep the 'good ol' boys' running Washington, filling up the pockets of the ultra-rich 'elite' while destroying the middle-class and America".

But I love how paranoid you sound; just be sure your paranoia is for the right reasons and then PLEASE ACTUALLY LOOK UP SOCIALISM AND MARXISM and come back here with something showing Obama as either. You won't because you know you would be laughed at.

Just in: Obama Campaign Cuts Off Interviews With Florida TV Station

Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported. "This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign.

Did Obama say he wasn't Marxist? Isn't this exactly what a Marxist would do?

McCain needs to pick this up and hammer it home (God knows, the msm won't) by setting up two examples of how Obama intends to govern if elected:

Example 1: Dig into the background of a citizen who asks him a question (Joe the Plumber)
Example 2: Cut off access to a communications outlet that dares ask his campaign a question.
Obama: A Marxist thug from Chicago. Biden: A mentally unprepared person. Murtha: His whole state is racist (and our Marines are murderers). Jefferson: $100 grand in the freezer. Pelosi: Funnels funds to her husband. Reid: The war is lost. Clinton: Requires the willing suspension of disbelief. This is the political part we want to elect this year?

I simply can't imagine the outcry if McCain's campaign did something like Obama's just did. Would we have front-page comdemnation across the country for the next 9 days? Would this headline every news program? Would people try to compare McCain with McCarthy? Is any of that going to happen with Obama?

    • Posted By: JFW123 @ 10/26/2008 1:12:23 PM

You said it LibertyandFreedom! It's unreal what this country is about to do all because they hate George Bush.

As this article has brought out the race card ( Something McCain/Pa;in have not been doing), let us ask and get an answers to questions that have not been brought up.
    1) Who started the slavery chain? I know the slave traders did not capture and enslave, they just bought them.----As Obama is a true African-American, maybe it was his direct decendants that enslaved black americans
    2) Why do all whites have to "feel guilty" about past discriminations against blacks? ------ None in my direct line of heritage has owned a slave, gggrandfather fought for the Union, even though he faced condemnation and prejudice from his fellow Arkansas neighbors. I was taught the same as my father, respect a person for who he is, not what their pigmentation is.
    3) Why do I have to help a person obtain a better lifestyle, when they do little in the way of making their situation better. ----I went to school, learned to the best of my ability and applied what I was taught. I did not impregnate irresponsibly nor ask a girl to destroy what is life.

    • Posted By: farneyblakeley @ 10/26/2008 11:17:28 AM

What's that??? You say McCain & Palin have not been been making sweeping statements to the tune of "hey we're white vote for us"? Well what restraint they are showing. Kudos to them for their "class". Most poor people are WHITE by the way.

      • Posted By: IBZee @ 10/26/2008 11:57:50 AM

Not by percentage whites are poorer. The only thing that is equal in relation to being poor, is education. If you don't understand that, let me explain.....uneducated= low wages, ineffecient money management skills

        • Posted By: farneyblakeley @ 10/26/2008 12:25:22 PM

The mistake you and so many make is that because you maybe have a little you believe those who have a lot share your interest, when in reality those who have the most in this country are disenfranchising the rest of the chance to live a somewhat comfortable life within their educational/economic bracket every opportunity they get. I hear many speaking of spreading the wealth a la handouts. I believe that is farcical propaganda. The best that can be hoped for is some reigning in of the unconstrained greed that has led to the current deplorable state of social affairs. No one wants to take away your big screen tv fella. McCain simply doesn't match up against Obama as a leadership candidate. No way he'll win. Americans are stupid but not suicidal. And I'm not that big a fan of Obama. I'd rather a REAL radical like Paul get in.

What businessman has been able or wants to stay in business when he cannot make a profit. Who would work 12-16 hour days to start or keep a business going to pay the person who sweeps the floor the same amount of money he earns. Who would strive to improve himself if the uneducated goofball that packs a product makes the same pay that a highley educated, skilled person does. Think about it.

            • Posted By: farneyblakeley @ 10/26/2008 12:50:57 PM

Minimum wage adjusted for inflation is lower than it has ever been. Low-income families are broke and the only thing that's keeping them feeling "American" is Chinese labor. House of cards that will fall. Right now the country is more unbalanced economically than ever and you are afraid someone will try to steer us in the other direction. Apparently 4U the days when working class was making wages within spitting distance of middle class and their kids had real aspirations for upward mobility were the bad old days and now utopia is upon us. I disagree

              • Posted By: IBZee @ 10/26/2008 1:06:05 PM

When you get out into the working world, let me know how you like it. It is apparent that you are still in school ( or entry level, pi$$ed that you aren't getting top wages) 4u give away yourself with text message shorthand.

Lol, I've never had a cell phone, I value my brain cells more than that. I'm well on my way to earning 29 thousand dollars every year so no money troubles. Oh wait those are 2008 Bush inflated dollars, damn. You were aware of the Bush administrations determination to lower the value of the dollar right?

          • Posted By: IBZee @ 10/26/2008 12:44:44 PM

You want the real way to control this "greed that has ran rampant". Don't buy that big screen tv "fella". Don;t buy that new car to keep up with Mr Jones. Buy stock, the more the better. Get your friends to buy, your co-workers, until you have controlling interest in a company. Or at least until you have a group that is a large minority stock holder. Then you elect the board and make the CEO do what you want. Put you butt, your co-workers butts, and your friends butts on the line for the profit and betterment of a company. Then come back and tell me what you think of "rampant greed".

            • Posted By: farneyblakeley @ 10/26/2008 12:56:14 PM

I'm speaking of corruption, not consumption. There is a difference, and Americans used to know that.

If you want to see racism and anti religion other than the religious right go see Sarah Palin in person. Loaded guns wielded by drivers in the parking lot McCain supporters carving a backward B on her cheek my fear is what if McCain looses. Racist and religious biggots who are far right radicals are the GOP. KKK and Natzi white supremist are the rich Republican righ. The GOP also wants women to stay in their place as John McCain said they are not well educated like men. Bull Crap McCain wants the stepford wife like his to just look pretty and maybe be a cash cow as cindy is so men like John McCain can milk her money. Todd Palin the man behind the woman is a high school dropout..

  • Posted By: Obama=Carter @ 10/26/2008 12:42:18 PM

Another attempt to play the race card. This jerkoff of a writer states over, and over, that people will only vote for McCain because of racism.Dose he ever bother to discuss the two groups of people voting FOR Obama because of racism? Blacks that ar voting for him (not all) just because he is black and all the white people (the author's target audience) who will vote for him because of articles like this and the constant hammering in the media that if people don't vote for Obama it is because of racism. Obama will not lose this election because he is half black. He will lose this election because he is an empty suit and the second comming of Jimmy Carter. People are intimidated into saying to pollsters that they will vote for Obama out of fear of being thought a racist when they are not. But when the curtains close in that booth people won't be intimidated and McCain will win. Happy rioting!!!

    • Posted By: Titans78 @ 10/26/2008 12:54:37 PM

It's people like you that inject stupidity into the elections. These same blacks that are supporting Obama, consistently supports the democratic party b/c majority of the black population doesn't fit into that "rich" column that the McSame wants to support. On another note, we all know that if Obama was white and his name was "John Smith" this election would be a landslide victory for him! Only idiots would let prejudice stand in the way of what they truly represents. The same people thats been complaining the last 8 years wants to re-elect George Bush for another 4 years.

      • Posted By: dumpthedems @ 10/26/2008 1:11:20 PM

If obama was a white guy named John Smith he wouldn't be in the position he's in... too inexperienced.

  • Posted By: KM123 @ 10/26/2008 1:11:11 PM

I found this article insulting to America in general, regardless of race or political affiliation. The country doesn't need to be ripped apart relentlessly by the media anymore. If they really cared about this country they would stop trying to write what sells and do their job, informing America of the facts and provide relavant information about current events, not aimless and endless speculation. There are millions who care for this country and work hard to make it better for everyone. I feel the least the media could do is help those people have a clear unbiased view of the situation and allow them to make the choice they feel is right.

  • Posted By: modon @ 10/26/2008 1:11:10 PM

LOOK Vote for whoever you like ...just stop sterotyping my people like you know everything about us. burning down cities?...when bush cheated we should have burned down cities then...look at where we are today...and dont give me that unpatriotic crap (i served in the marines and the army)..alot of people cant live with the fact that a black man might actually become the leader of the US and you cant stand it...times change if Obama was such a terrorist he would have never gotten this far...if he really was good friends with all these anti american domestic terrorist do you really think he would be this close to winning?....NO.. and the only thing republicans can come up with is ayers and wright(Obama was 8 years old when ayers was doing that i guess 8 year old black kids are terroist too?)

  • Posted By: MikeyD. @ 10/26/2008 1:11:06 PM

Keep on dreaming Johnathan, worse case scenarios are the hopes of those who are not in touch with reality. For a country which boasts itself of being the leader of the first world something must be wrong with a system that produces so many illeterates and out of touch constituents.

  • Posted By: richandsusy @ 10/26/2008 12:57:46 PM

I'm amazed that a far left wing media source likw Newsweek is allowing negative/anti-Obama Bin Laden blogs to pop up on their site. It appears that 75% of the blogs are pro McCain. CAN'T BE!!! Obama has to be one of the most notorious liars in history. His dealings with ACORN should be considered a national scandal. If he does get elected how much credit should the fraudulent ways of ACORN be given? How many tax payers out there realise that ACORN is being funded by the government. If the truth were to be known ACOPRN will no doubt be given a substantial sum out of the economic bail out package - - - otherwise they'll start to scream prejudice. They'll play the "Race Card" like I've I've seen so many minorities do in the govt. *I've worked for Uncle Sugar myself for 42 years and have seen it all.

The "Gimmecrats" have been blaming the Republicanes for all of our economic woes but infact it goes way back to the black days days of the Carter fiasco. He was the first Gimmecrat to suggest sub-prime lending practices and it was "I didn't have sex with that woman" Clinton who really helped it to snowball. The two of them are responsible for the ridiculous ACORN consumated NINJA loan mistake (No Income, No Job, No Asset) far left laws we now know caused the sub-prime catastrophy. Wake-Up America before it's too late.

  • Posted By: junie12 @ 10/26/2008 12:39:46 PM

This election has never been about race and still is not! Obama will NOT win because and only because America is a democratic society. The majority of us still want to run our own lives; not have them run by a government. Most of us volunteer and donate to charities because we want to help. We do NOT want to be told to do it and have what we give decided for us. Obama would certainly change that for everyone, not just the so called rich. Obama and Pelosi's government would make sure we all "give our fair share" as determined by them whether we can afford to or not.
