    Why is this about race? I know a whole lot of people who aren't voting for Obama simply because they don't like his socialist policies and he is severely lacking in experience on the foreign policy front which is obviously very important. A lot of people just don't feel safe with him as president in such trying times. I am yet to hear someone (friends, family, coworkers, etc) say that they won't vote for him because he is black. And as for uninformed voters... how bout black people voting for him just because he is black? If you need proof of that, Howard Stern sent a guy into Harlem and interviewed some people about Obama, the results were scary. Here is the link http://www.bpmdeejays.com/upload/hs_sal_in_Harlem_100108.mp3
    Anyway, this whole people won't vote for Obama because they are racist thing is ridiculous and needs to stop.

    Consider this before you vote. About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at
    the University of Edinburgh , had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

    ??? A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to lose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world???s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
    2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
    3. from courage to liberty;
    4. from liberty to abundance;
    5. from abundance to complacency;
    6. from complacency to apathy;
    7. from apathy to dependence;
    8. from dependence back into bondage.

    I believe it will be the best day in America when "Barack Hussein Obama" wins. He is the epitome of what we need right now. He has the vision, smarts, and motivation to rally not only the politicians in Washington, but also the every day citizens of the U.S., regardless of where we are on the socioeconomic spectrum. Wake up!!! We all need to band together, focus on what's good and move forward without discrimination to resolve the major issues that we've been subjected to the past 8 years.

    The long and short of it is simple. Obama has zero experience! He has never ran a business, hired anyone or made any hard decisions. He is an extremist, the most liberal Senator, wants mre taxation and more spending, ZERO experience in foreign affairs and Gaf Biden is right, the third world countrys would love it if he wins because all he wants to do is sit down and have coffee with them. He wants to add welfare with his tax plan and as small businees owner if he taxes like he says every mom and pop business will either have to raise prices in a bad economy, close or lay off workers. It's not rocket science and the rest of amercia better wake up fast. He lies and will lie again and his so called lower taxes to 95% is a joke as 40% of that do not pay taxes anyway. He wants to raise taxes on big business, here is a clue Obama supporters, they don't pay taxes anyway, we do when we buy their products and all they will do is rais ethe price on their goods if this goes thru. ahe wants to add a trillion dollars more to our national debt with no way to pay for it but to raise taxes. He relationship does matter with Ayers, rizko, Wright and others. And where is all of that money coming from....not the USA if truth were known. PLus he is trying to buy an election with his over $800,000 worth of contributions to Acorn of which he is on record of telling them that he can't win without there help. Say whatyou want about Bush but we haven't been attacked since 9-11 and don't think they haven't been trying. If Obama gets in we will get attacked again and the way he stutters around some answers I hate to say what will happen in this worse case. Get a grip america, Obama and his band of Polosie, and Reed will drive us into a depression. We will never get a president that suits everyone but John McCain will not let the Iran's,and others run over us. By the way it sems that all of themain stream news media wants to give him a pass on every issue but sems really interetsted in malling Sarah Palin for everything. She has more experience than Obama. Her clothes...who cares.. if we go there with her what about Obama's $3500 suits. I 'll bet he doesn';t donate them to charity like Palin will and by the way , she didn't buy them.

    • Posted By: sedonakaren @ 10/26/2008 12:31:12 PM

      You're unreal. Most of your posting is too disjointed to make any sense. But as far as Palin's not buying her clothes....THAT'S THE PROBLEM. She disengenuous to say she's another "WALMART MOM," when she's wearing clothes from Sachs worth $150,000. What's wrong with her own clothes?

      And Obama can spend anything he wants on his clothes because HE'S PAYING FOR IT...not the taxpayer! GET IT NOW? We don't like paying for her fancy duds and $22,000 for two weeks of her makeup artist!
      Doesn't that bother you at all?

    I'm amazed at how much of this argument assumes that McCain only wins because of racists voting for McCain over Obama solely on race... and to say Virginia's supporters of McCain are only voting for McCain because of race, that just infuriates me as a Virginian. Liberals simply can't grasp why their IDEAS are what kills their messiahs. Liberal ideas turn many people off, plain and simple. This kind of article only prepares the media's argument for why Obama might lose if he does. IT WAS RACE!!! AHHHH!!!! it sells headlines...so way to lay the groundwork here...

    Media please listen - There is the WRIGHT factor. Obama was a member of that Church for 20 years and we are suppose to believe he didn't inhale. The Media would rather say, if it's not for Obama it "could be attributed only to race". I'm not questioning whether Obama believes he is a Christian - I question if Wright's God is the same God I know.

    Free Trade (My view) support the American Worker by giving every company that employs an American Worker a tax credit. I would vote for letting any employer take 110% of there health benefit and payroll cost to the American Worker (Need to limit the 10% added credit to some number say $8000.). (My view) if only for a new employee - Employers will find a loop hole and layoff 1000 in one city and hire 900 in another. The credit would lower the cost of American made goods and therefore create JOBS.

    I need work, I need Health Insurance, But Wright is a deal breaker for me.

      And Palin's minister blessing her to protect her from WITCHCRAFT, let me repeat that because it's important WITCHCRAFT, isn't? Your leap in logic confounds me.

      I don't agree with Wright but knowing the era he grew up in, filled with racial inequality and strife, I can at least understand where he is coming from. Belief in witchcraft I can't understand even a little bit. The psychology behind that kind of belief involved in thinking witchcraft is a viable threat is frightening on to many levels.
      Let???s also not forget her husband???s membership in the Alaskan Independence Party who wants to succeed from the US. Explain how you can be patriot and not want to be part of the country?

      I guess you never learned the meaning of the word "racism." One who is from the oppressed, the minority part of the population cannot by definition, be racist. It's impossible.

      • Posted By: mortons6 @ 10/26/2008 12:30:10 PM

        Incorrect! The dictionary definition of racist is: "a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to another".

    I really believe that the voters of this country are frightened for the future and for the first time in a long while people are riled up and it is a good sign . We have all been sitting back on our haunches and allowed to much to go on and have not put enough pressure on our politicians to do the right things that are in the best interest of our country. Whoever wins the election will have an enormous amount of work to do to try to fix things and still try to make our country a better to live for all of us. I truely believe MCain and Paulin are going to be a good team. It is going to take both president and vice president this term working hard to make good accomplishments. MCain and Paulin appear to be putting thier heads together even now to work on solutions we need. Anyone can be a good speaker, and surely Obama is that, but politicians will tell you anything to get where they want. I don't picture him and a hothead like Biden being great leaders of this country. Obama has been too vague in commiting to anything in his past and I don't see that getting any better. My idea a first lady is certainly not Obama's wife, who doesn't even like her country. Not someone I want representing our country. MCain is not Bush ! That is a campain stratedgy that has obviously worked for Obama and he is sticking to it. What if we called Obama another Jimmy Carter? I am all for changes but lets face it ,we have been pretty spoiled. Do you really want that much change? I know MCain knows what our problem areas are and he do his best to make things right. OPen your eyes and really look at the man as his life is his testimonial to what he believes in.

    We cannot stand for 8 more years of the failed Bush economies? For 6 of the past 8 years, we have done pretty good. The economy has done pretty good. It is only in the last 2 years has the economy turned sour. What happened two years ago to change this? The MSM and those with BDS had beat their drum so loudly that the lemmings fell in line and elected too many liberals. Those with socialistic ideologies. Now the MSM and lemmings want to have both the legislative and executive branches with socialistic ideologies unhindered by any checks or balances

    • Posted By: Zajda @ 10/26/2008 11:29:46 AM

      Bush and the rest of his administration are war criminals. They've destroyed COUNTLESS lives. We need to get them and the rest of their party out of their now.

      If you find taxes to be so evil and government to be so intrusive, how about you vouch for anarchy instead? Taxes are necessary for things to get done in a country. It's about time people understood that.

      • Posted By: IBZee @ 10/26/2008 11:45:28 AM

        Ahh, one of the lemmings replies.
        1) Taxes are evil, when a represenative of the people does not abide by what he has been elected to do, and does not govern accordingly.
        2) Bush & co. are not war criminals, no matter what your BDS cronies has erroneously led you to believe
        3) I do believe in goverment, but only in the goverment allowed by the constitution. If this socialistic experimitation of America continues, I'll just sit on my backside and let you support me for a change

          They broke international law when they invaded Iraq. Even Richard Perle, one of the architects, admitted it. And the whole enterprise is a violation of the Constitution, which traitorous members of Congress have admitted defending their endorsement by declaring that particular statute, ie declaration of war by Congress before going to war, to be outdated.

  • Posted By: The Republicrats @ 10/26/2008 12:28:40 PM

    If McCain wins, against the incredible partisanship of the media and the voter fraud going on by ACORN it will be a miracle and a blessed day in America. Nothing to do with Obama being black but all to do with his past associations, far left liberal policies and trying to buy an election.

    g1816159, Wright is a deal breaker for you? Is his God the same God I know? Is Palin's minister's God the same one you know? Is there more than one God in your thinking? Is there real Americans and other Americans, too. If God is all things, isn't Wright's God the same as everyone elses? Wright is no different that you or me. We are all imperfect. Let he who is without sin ...

    Oh, please make some attempt at critical thinking ... at least examine your arguement.

    I agree that this is a wanste of time article. If McCain wins then I think he won mostly on people not being ready ready for an Obama presidency and not because of race. I will say that most of the comments for this article people just repeat talking points given to them through their candidates campaign and they are all pretty much BS. Things will not change very much under EITHER candidate because their is no money to do anything. I do like Obamas energy plan and that ALONE is what will drive the US economy for the next 20 years.

    I"m going to hqve to stop reading MSNBC propaganda; you're almost as bad as the Berkley Barb was in the 60's. What the entire nrews media is trying to do is convince us that if you don't vote for Obama that we're part of the KKK and definitely prejudiced. Nobody in my family history ever owned slaves and whites in my situation are turned off by liberal by your reterict. On my part I have treservations about William Ayers and Reverand Wright. Why has the media lost sight of these issues? Why haven't you looked into his dealing with ACORN. I would imagine that Mc Cain would also be a shoe in if all republicans were allowed to vote 76 times per person. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If the worst does happen (Obama winning) then I'll have to gree with Wright when he said "God D--- America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Low information voter" means you don't care enough to educate yourself about the person running and the issues. It is apparent in your posting. And you really ought to learn how to spell. It kinda gives you away.

    Newsweek, you are the most left leaning magazine that I deliver to on my mail route. Every cover is designed to raise the democratic party and further the career of Obama. It truly amazes and scares me that you even have regular readers. Although I can say with certainty that your readership has severely declined over the past years. I barely deliver half the number of magazines than in previous years. The media needs to wake up. You can not help people by creating a continuous handout. The old parable still holds true: Teach a person to fish so they can feed themselves. Quit contributing to the demoralization of the family and foster good strong family values. Oh, I forgot! Good news and proper living doesn't sell, does it? As far as I'm concerned, you and the rest of the main stream media is responsible for the state that American culture has become. Trust me, one day you will reap what you have sown.

    So, I presume from the author's comments that, if McCain wins, common sense and decency somehow are tossed aside? I am sitting on the fence between Obama and McCain. But, I am truly shocked at how slanted the press is towards Obama. And, to be truthful, this piling on McCain and Palin while annointing Obama is having an effect on me - however, not the effect that Hollywood and the press would like.

    There are a number of good, decent people who might just prefer McCain over Obama - or, Obama over McCain. I don't need the press or a so called celebrity to tell me how I should vote. I also resent how both contenders have tossed aside their original promises to make this election sound just like all the rest.

    Obama made a promise to forgoe public financing limits. He broke his word. McCain said that he would forgoe the mud slinging of past presidential campaigns. He broke his promise.

    I wish our next President well - whoever he is. I am just sick of the process!

    • Posted By: leepdx @ 10/26/2008 12:22:54 PM

      Thank you for making such a keen observation, both candidates have shifted away from early promises, things change with time it's how life is. So vote for who you think would be best for our country, think for yourself, that's democracy.
