Why McCain Won

The media cannot understand why John Q. Public dislikes the media. I began to read your article about "What If Obama Looses. I didn't get past the first sentance. The conventional wisdom, which I share, is that Barack Obama will win this election, perhaps by a healthy margin.

I really get tired of this type of article! It's in the media's best interest to s..t disturb and continue to make everyone nervous! The McCain campaign has accused Obama of everything they can think of, he's too inexperienced but they choose the extremely inexperienced and not too bright, Palin, he'll raise your taxes, but no he'll spread the wealth, he's a socialist, no he's a communist, and of course the biggest one of all, he's black

So let me get this straight....if McCain wins, it's because America has reverted back to the days of slavery? If you want to see racism, look no further than the elite obama winfrey liberal crowd. Alter is doing his part for his boss' at the dnc, but I wish this article could get some really good national attention. I'm sure EVERYONE in red states would love to be insulted by this elitist junk.

Unlike the writer, I see this as a very plausible event on election day. It might not exactly happen like this. But the "socialist" and "communist" dogwhistling will bring the older voters back to McCain. Mark my words.

Y'know, I keep reading these analyses and projections of what each of the presidential candidates' Campaign Promises would or would not accomplish if they were a.) elected, b.) managed to somehow get their plan through both houses of a notoriously corrupt Congress, and c.) aren't simply lying through their teeth to begin with.

And I think it is perhaps useful to note that all either one of these guys has actually done lately is to vote for the bail-out with its provisions providing Paulson with extraordinary powers to rape, loot, and pillage. That is the really -- not the talk. No getting round that vote, is there, though nobody seems inclined to take it into account when assessing how much substance there is in either man's proposal as opposed to hot air.

And don't hand me any "Oh, they didn't know it would lead to this ... " -- Obama folks, in particular, didn't accept that as an excuse for Congress voting Bush into position to launch the War in Iraq, and I will not accept it from him -- or McCain -- as an excuse for their votes on the bail-out.

Take the "I was tricked!" excuse away, and what are you left with? Can't be worry about winning the popular vote -- popular opinion was overwhelmingly against the bail-out and the transfer of Congress's traditional "power of the purse-strings" to a single, unelected, untouchable individual.

So what we have here are two guys doing what they're told when the chips are down.

Any bet that either of 'em'll change that pattern once they assume the Oval Office because they said so in a speech is a bet that seems to me to be made solely on the basis of wishful thinking; of projecting on these two products of the Culture of Corruption your own notions of what you yourself would do if you had the chance.

That is how political product is sold nowadays; a sort of psychic kung-fu.Keep your eye on the ball -- and that consists of tuning out the hype and watching what your candidates actually do when given the chance.

And these two guys just voted to @!$%# you up the ass.

I really can't make it any plainer than that; and you ignore that fact at your peril, and that of your children and grandchildren.

What an extremely arrogant article...americans should all be voting for obama because we owe it to black people as an atonement for slavery? Anyone who is deciding how to vote based on any other consideration is a racist white? Wow...sounds like newsweek is displaying the most racist stance of all...vote for a candidate based only on the color of his skin.
