I am not racist if I elect to vote for McCain, I am free and I am a republican.
I am not racist if I elect to vote for McCain, I am free and I am a republican.
"That one."
What does "That one" mean to you?if you think its is racist then you must think like a racist.
I am not racist if I elect to vote for McCain, I am free and I am a republican.
@ olandug:
You idiot. Gumby with integrity still bends, and besides, Gumby is awesome!
Hatred for the country. What a foolish mindset: if he hated the country, he would be selfish and lower taxes for his income bracket, meaning he would be a Republican. Obviously he isn't. Sure, he may have had some shielding from critical press in the beginning, but Palin has even more. That idiot just wants to nuke Russia, as does McCain, but if she were president, she actually would. When McNeedsACane dies of a heart attack or just general old age (he would be the oldest president ever elected), the crazy lady will go out there and start up the cold war again - only this time it will be in an oven. How dare you say his speeches are "empty hyperbole": if Palin's remarks (or yours for that matter) about him being a terrorist are not vacuous exaggeration, nothing is. He doesn't hang out with the man, the guy just threw him a fundraising party - anyone can do that. Obama states clearly his tax and healthcare policies, something that McCain doesn't do, but rather relies on the press to do it for him. Knowing someone in the IRS, I understand clearly both of these proposed wounds to our society; no one with a preexisting condition would ever get coverage and those with coverage would have health care plans I wouldn't give my dog. If you want to give some more money to the huge corporations so that the upper class can get wealthier and we can go further into debt while not improving the country, then yes, McBush, I mean, McCain is a good choice. If you want even a reasonably decent health care plan, or want a better education system, or want to not go into the 100's of trillions in debt, I would suggest Obama.
By the way, if you want to see McCainWhoKilledAbel prove his wisdom, search for "McCain accidentally agrees" on YouTube.
I rest my case.
You sound like a communist
The US presidential election is a farce. It not about voting in a democracy, but rather the strength and influence of the lobbyists. As everyone knows the Jewish lobby is the most powerful in the US. Thus anyone who wish to be elected must make some empty promises to the Palestinians and then pay homage to the Jewish lobby in New York just before the election and swear to the Jews that he will protect Israel at any cost. Now Obama has already been to Israel and prayed to the wall in Jurusalem but has not make any empty promises to the Palestinians and has not paid homage to the Jewish lobby in New York. What about McCain? Watch their moves in the final leg towards the election and the one who make these moves will win.
Jonathan Alter, what is the REASON for this article!! At best it is a joke, at worst it is gratuitous manipulation and highly opinionated. I was about to go out and buy your book on FDR but now I'm having second thoughts!
Don't worry, Alter doesn't have a problem with republicans. He and Keith Olberman crapped on Hillary all throughout the primary season.
Racism and Religion and baa humbug! I am tired of it. This is 2008 and people are still living in the 1950's
The media is making it a bigger issue than it really is
What "original sin" we have to pay? That is the main difference between those who think America is the greatest place on earth in spite of its imperfection - please name any other place that offers the same opportunities - and those who think the founding fathers and mothers are BAD people who committted "the original sin" which we now need to pay to purify ourselves. No, I believe we are fine as we are, and don't need to atone for any "sin." Good grief! Instead of being the land of freedom and opportunity, we are the land of "sin" and need atonement.
Barack Obama's "CHANGE" slogan actually indicates how often he changes his position. He changes like a Willow in the wind. One day Obama will give you Tax Plan (A), the next day he will give you Tax Plan (B). You can't get a straight answer out of him about anything. Even if he comes forth with a campaign policy plan that sounds good to you...how can you possibly believe that is what he will do if he gets elected? Can't you see by what Obama did about saying he would accept public campaign funding and then did a "CHANGE" and did not accept public campaign funding that Barack Obama will tell you anything to get elected. Then Obama will do as he pleases or what he can get away with IF he gets elected. Frankly, I do not trust him. If Barack Obama lied about that, he will lie about anything to get what he wants.
As to the financial crisis, Barack Obama doesn't know zip about how to fix it!!! Even the experts in finance and economics don't know exactly what is wrong. I have listened to numerous experts give their explanation of what needs to be done and what caused it, and one conclusion is that the cause started about 10 years ago when Wall Street went to congress and asked for more creative financing than the standard 30 year fixed mortgage. Securities became so complex and the DNA of their source was lost in the complexity created by the Wall Street genious Whiz guys....that while Regulations were in place the Regulators were not smart enough to realize the bubble building up that was going to explode and cause the catastrophe if borrowers defaulted on their loans. One expert's opinion is that a DNA Label identifying the sourceof securities traded should be required so the purchasers of the securities will know what they are buying and will be more able to assess the risk of their purchase in the future of the market. Who knows exactly what caused or will fix the crisis? This is why I say voting for Obama on the basis of the recent economic crisis is a not a good reason to vote for Obama...because both Obama and McCain will have to delegate that tremendous responsibility to the scientific experts in finance and economy. A better reason NOT to vote for Obama is to vote for the Man who will handle a National Security Crisis the best and that Man is John McCain because he has the most National Security and Foreign Policy experience. Barack Obama has zero experience in National Security and Foreign Policy experience. NOBAMA!!!!! NOBAMA!!!!!
McCain/Palin on November 4, 2008
Really? Are you sure you want to head down this path? Let's see...
1) McCain was against offshore drilling -- Now? He's for it.
2) McCain was against the Bush tax cuts -- Now? He's for it.
3) McCain was against torture -- Now? He's for it.
4) McCain was for free market capitalism -- Now? He voted for the Bail Out package and wants to use tax payer's money to buy defaulted home loans AT THEIR ORIGINAL COST.
5) McCain promised a clean campaign --Now? Running the sleaziest campaign since the 1800s.
I could type more but I have chicken cooking.
"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."

It's an OPINION PIECE. Do you think George Will, who writes for this magazine, is not biased FOR Republicans? It's an OPINION PIECE.
Obama is unqualified, empty, verbose, and got selected solely because of race. Why would anyone in their right mind vote for someone named Barack HUSSEiN Osama, ouf, Obama??? Anyone with such a strange name scares the hell out of me, I have to admit.
Oh geez, I paid you a compliment too soon, I just commented on your other post. You are discounting a candidate because their name is Hussein?! Damn his father for not knowing 47 years ago that his son might run for president at a time when a similar dictator with his namesake had been executed. Geez, are you really wanting to judge people by their names, Nelly BENITO? You know, like BENITO Mussolini!
You know, if you were running against conservatives they'd use that against you, right? I mean, you are aware that the SAME PEOPLE who salivate themselves saying Barack Huuussseeeeiiinn Obama are the very SAME PEOPLE who would go against you because of your name? Who would reduce your life, character and accomplishments to a sick comparison against a dead dictator. You do know this... Right?
Yeah, don't want no strange names, right 'NELLYBENITO' LOL
Wow, this article is badly written. Must have been a close deadline. What does this even mean?
"By piling up overwhelming margins in big blue states like California, New York and Illinois, Obama carried the popular vote, but he ended up like Al Gore in 2000???denied admission to the Electoral College." Can we stop and just admit that Gore won in 2000? Republicans can gloat that their man was finally sworn in, but please, Bush's team wanted to STOP the re-count!
What will happen in a little over a week is bigger than any one person. A lot of healing will begin in this country.
Boo! My fellow democrats. Happy Halloween. My blue friends, this is a high intensity election, which means high info voters. Obama by 8% and 375 EVs.
McCain was a good candidate until he selected Palin and went negative when America needed and wanted leadership. The numbers are running away from McCain. The polls demonstrate high negatives for McCain. The American People need more time to solve problems. McCain makes problems.
Those Low Information Voters are going to have to be blind and deaf not to hear an Obama commercial between now and election day. With a war chest three times larger than McCain's, and a hour hour block on all the major networks (oh, yes, and also on that unbiased source of information, Fox), it will be all but impossible to escape the message that Obama has been driving home since he started running: that we are worse off now that we were eight years ago, and we can not afford another four years of the same.
not. going. to. happen.
I've been canvassing in North Carolina (a state not even worthy of mention in this piece of tripe). More than half of the *white voters* I've talked to have Early Voted for Obama. He has so many different paths to the required 270 electoral votes that he can effectively lose any (or even all) of the big battleground states and still win the Presidency.
Ditto!
It's fun to be fooled! Most Americans are having a good time putting on costumes and watching their children choose who to be for Halloween. Obama is having a good time pretending he's a left of center politician. It won't be until next Halloween when he dresses up as a liberal and we see the traits of his anarchist mentor and Black Nationalist pastor show through the make-up.
Assumedly this is Newsweek's idea of a Halloween horror story with McCain playing the roll of the Headless (or rather Clueless) Horseman and Palin typecast as the Wicked Witch?
Please don't let this happen, America. Palin is an unapologetic enemy of thought, and this reflects directly on McCain. Did anyone hear her recent comments on fruit fly research? She had the gall to dismiss it as a wasteful earmark alongside the 'bridge to nowhere' (which SHE supported). Yes, folks, she mocked Drosophila melanogaster study -- the same research that has identified a genetic indicator for AUTISM. This is probably the most disgusting thing I've heard from this woman thus far. We cannot afford to let this kind of blatant ignorance back into the White House.
