aren't all Barry supporters pu$$ies?? So why do they have to be reckoned with...LOL!!!
Obama's supporters have high expectations, and they may expect to have a voice in governing.
aren't all Barry supporters pu$$ies?? So why do they have to be reckoned with...LOL!!!
And THIS, folks, is the new GOP voter...Big mouths, small foreheads, and not much else.
better ask your wife Doc.....we laugh at what she calls your pee-pee all the time...LOL!!
Wow, another human as brain dead as dubya and amused by himself to boot!
Has anyone noticed that Obama seems to be catching up in Arizona? And he is doing better than expected in Texas. McCain may loose his home state.
Woo hoo! Yeah, baby!
Hey, I'm sitting here in ultra-red Utah (and it's not just the rocks) and for months I've seen Obama yard signs in every neighborhood and in that time I've seen 3 McCain signs and 1 McCain bumper sticker.
This is phenomenal out here! I don't think Utah will go Obama, although I did my best by voting early for Obama today, but it does suggest that a lot of republicans are rather lukewarm about McCain and if that is happening here in the republican heartland it is a very bad sign for McCain elsewhere.
By the way, I had to wait 40 minutes in line today to vote early. We may have nearly a half million early voters out here! It's absolutely amazing. I've never seen a turnout like this.
Go Obama/Biden 08!!
Repeat the phrase "tax and spend", and you will get a good sense of what an Obama Presidency would be like. If a candidate can spend on a Presidential campaign more than double what any other campaign in history has ever spent before, think of what the size of the federal government will look like after one or two terms of an Obama presidency.
All that government spending will not be paid for by raising taxes only on the "rich", so far defined by Obama as those earning over $250,000 a year. Unless Obama is lying (now that would be new) he has said he would balance the budget in a few years. That will be impossible with all his new proposed spending, including the new welfare programs that he mislabels as tax cuts for the 44% of Americans who do not now earn enough to pay federal income tax (thanks to the Bush tax cuts) . Balancing the budget will require him to greatly broaden the category of "rich" people who need to be taxed more, but Obama will tell you not to mind, because it is "fair". Maybe a year from now the definition of "rich" becomes $150,000 , and two years from now $100,000, and by the end of his term, $75,000. What we know is that to pay for all his promises, Obama will need to find many more people to tax much more heavily so he can "spread the wealth around."
How a candidate runs his campaign is an important indicator of the character of the man or woman we may elect. In the case of Obama, the evidence is that he is a very skillful, ambitious, and driven candidate, and also a very, very cynical and dishonest one. What Obama says means very little. He is after all a clever lawyer. We have had a recent experience with a very smart lawyer as President and how he parsed words. In Obama's case, the lies have been pretty blatant, despite the best spinning efforts by the campaign.
It is not his words, but what Obama does that matters. And right now, Barack Obama is trying to buy the Presidency, and it looks like he is succeeding.
Fancy that, a democrat buying the white house. That would be a first. Now with the Rebiblicans.... well, let's say they have a long history of having lots of money relative to their opponents. Now, when for the first time in an eon when the situation is reversed, listen to the indignation.
And cut out the Obama is a socialist, communist, satan-worshipper or whatever. You work so hard to make this point and it's just silly.
Spend? And the current resident of the White House hasn't contributed anything to the $10T...that is trillion...deficit?
How interesting what some people forget.
Republican for Obama!
ID Girl.
One thing to remember when looking at debt. Look at it just like the bank looks at you when you are wanting to take on debt. How much of your CURRENT INCOME will your total debt be? They look at it on a percentage basis.
Do this with the US debt. Look at the $10 trillion dollar debt VS the GDP, gross domestic product. That is basically debt vs income. On this basis, which is how debt is viewed, the US has LESS debt today than it did 10 years ago. Today it is approximately 38% and 10 years ago it was about 42%. So, due to a rise in GDP we are carrying a smaller debt when you look at it as debt is veiwed.
The first house I bought 29 years ago was $36K and the one I live in today is valued at about $350K. But today, even though my debt dollars are much larger than they were back 29 years ago I am a much less risky borrower due to my income being so much higher.
Look at debt the way it should be looked at.
I am NOT saying that Bush has done a great job, far from it and the GOP has been a spend spend spend patch of knuckleheads for sure. But, to address the problems accurately we have to keep them in perspecitve.
Better than the rebiblican "borrow, spend and make your children pay for all of it" philosophy.
From the party of family values and better morals comes one of the most irresponsible and family unfriendly behaviors in a long time. But who cares as long as the president is a born again type who thinks he talks to God despite abundant and obvious evidence to the contrary (i.e., numerous screwups).
After all, its the end of days and none of this really matters anyhow (remember James Watt?).
Several months ago, I was told that someone at work said, "When Obama gets in, I'm not going to do anything (at work)." Knowing the individual who supposedly said that, I didn't regard it as that important. She doesn't do much now. I was also told that African Americans are going to riot and loot after the election, regardless of whether Obama wins. I figured that was probably just a wild speculation. Tonight, I overheard two African American coworkers talking about the election. The young male said, "I'm not coming in on Wednesday, because, - you know." There was a tone of acknowlegement in the air. The young female said, "If Obama wins, I'm going to quit my job." The young male looked at her and said, "Really?" She paused for a while and said, "Well, (pause) no," as if she were thinking really hard about it.
Can someone explain what the African American community expects to get if Obama wins the election? It's as if they think they're going to win the lottery and their lives will be completely changed. As bizarre as it sounds, I think many African Americans believe they will never have to work again. I knew they had some wild ideas about the situation, but I didn't think it was this bad.
I hope that 'the truth will be told' blogger is OK with being Pinocchio Junior,
because all of the attacks are vile rightwing libel against hospitals and
those who work in them. Being pro-choice is not being pro-abortion, number one.
Secondly, when the issue of unavoidable partial birth came to vote, the republican remark
was that NOT ONE of those voting, including Obama, was for infanticide.
A nurse blogged the other day that partial birth abortion is done when the baby has died before birth. Everyone involved is cared for and has access to medication.
People do not wind up in dirty linen baskets
To suggest that anyone from either party would wish it otherwise, is very, very sad.
You have NOT told the truth, but I am willing to believe that you have been
betrayed by your own party's hate mongering,
and not just on this subject.
Peace.
The GOP is grasping at straws. They have nothing substantive against Obama, but boy are they good at making up lies. This has been a leading Rove tactic for years, and if America falls for this again we should be ashamed of ourselves. Not to mention the fact that this is all a smokescreen to keep the focus off of the fact that Palin and her Alaska associates are in contempt of court for refusing to testify in the Troopergate hearings. After Nixon and Clinton, Americans are to some extent jaded, but really, would you want a VP who refuses to attend hearings in her own defense, and instructs her employees not to testify? That smells like guilt. It surely doesn't give the impression that she has done no wrong and has nothing to hide.
This year, the GOP offers you an angry old man and a woman who, while personable, is desperately uniformed about national and international issues. Both of them are far right politically. McCain used to be a maverick, but since 2004 he has voted 90% with Bush. McCain's policies are not original or reformist, despite how he has tried to co-opt Obama's popular message of change. Please go to the websites of both of the candidates and read their platforms. Obama's Blueprint for Change has more good ideas than McCain's plan. Compare them yourself. Obama's basic premise is that tax dollars should be spent to make America stronger and to improve the lives and well being of our people. For example, he uses education programs to train a technology workforce, contributing to energy independence, creating jobs and improving the economy. When you read McCain's plan you will find no over-arching design to get America back on track. Instead you'll find more tax cuts for the wealthy and deregulation of the health care industry.
I'm a Republican. Although I embrace some forward-thinking social values, in the past I've rarely voted Democrat. My thinking was that since Republicans grow robust economies, by voting Republican I'd be endorsing a plan that would grow wealth for our nation, and then we would be able to afford social programs. It was a good strategy for a couple decades, but I have to say that the tenure of W. Bush has changed my mind. Not only is there nothing fiscally responsible about today's GOP, the insidious alignment of the party with religious intolerance has really turned me off.
On the other hand, the intelligent luminous thought of Barack Obama has ignited my patriotism. I want a President who puts America first and can get the economy back on track. In my mind, values voting takes a back burner when we are faced with a meltdown of the economy. It's time for a change, a real change. The Republicans have controlled the Presidency for 28 of the past 40 years, but they have fallen down on the job. The Democrats have a stellar candidate this year, and I am voting for Obama.
Just more ninsense (in the form of her endlessly repetitive posts that often appear under un-related articles) spewing from the Nins-compoop herself.
ALL INDEPENDENTS AND DEM'S AND REPUBLICANS WITH ANY SENSE: Pay attention to these comments and you will see what the Republican Party is all about, HATE ,FEAR, RACIST BIGOT, ====VOTE ACCORDINGLY. If you have one drop of Asian, Black, Oriental, Native American, You would be despised in the Repiglican Party
This is a lie. I would suggest those who are thinking about voting for Obama look to what types are supporting him. Go on the liberal blogs and see what is being said. It is disgusting.
You are calling me disgusting? Thank yoiu so much. Interesting that you would say that and you don't know me. I have contributed to the Obama campaign monetarily and with my time. I have not done so before this. How much have you contributed to the McCain campaign? So that Sarah can buy more clothes?
The same can be said for what you read on a lot of conservative blogs. There are just some rotten people out there of all stripes.
Agreed. Both sides have ugly fringes that are beneath contempt.
So you're appealing to Republicans and closing by calling them Repiglicans? Interesting arguement.
Sinclair Lewis wrote a novel back in the 1930's as the US was coming out of the Great Depression called "It Can't Happen Here." The earliest parts of the story are being echoed in today's United States, and later the government indeed steps in and takes control over everything in order to "protect the people from themselves." I don't believe the consequences of an Obama presidency would be as severe as Lewis's future, but I do fear for individual freedoms being suspended temporarily at times, some for good (maybe a no loopholes gun control law so we stop killing each other on the street.) but mostly to our detriment. The constitution is not a "living document" as Mr. Obama stated, but a concrete and established set of rules to live by. We are capable of changeing the rules by a popular vote if we feel they are outdated or irrelevant, but the document does not shift with the breeze like all politicians' views and opinions. Think about every issue thoroughly and clearly before you vote. Both candidates are asking you to rush out and vote early so you can't change your mind. Think for yourself, and don't let your friends or family tell you what is right. Don't be one of the minions for either side, be your own objective observer and find your truth.
We've already seen the acceptance of torture and the suspension of habeas corpus in this administration. So what freedoms are you worried about again?
We've seen the results of both lassaiz faire capitalism and "trickle down" economics. Enough is enough. Incidentally talking to your friends and family is exactly what people should be doing and reading every newspaper you can find. Make informed and discussed decisions!
I agree that talking with family and friends is wise and should be done. My point is so many people have become blind followers because a friend told them how they felt with such emotion they jumped on the wagon without a second thought for themselves.
We have to take care not to keep traveling the same historic path as the Romans and believing in charisma before substance. They destroyed themselves from within, and that started at the top when the government turned against their chosen leader.
This a sideways caution about Obama and very well veiled. For me the substance is in his education, his bootstrap climb, how efficiently he has run his campaign, how he has handled the race baiting with cool dignity (he doesn't have to bring up that Annenburg is a McCain contributor or the Keating 5), his opposition to the war during his run for the Senate (when the rest of the country was rabid to go), his plans are thought out (McCain???s clearly are not). His integrity to me is iron clad. None of the attacks on him have proved otherwise. The McCain campaign is and will continue to feel the price (in the form of votes) of insulting the American people???s intelligence.
"I don't believe the consequences of an Obama presidency would be as severe as Lewis's future, but I do fear for individual freedoms being suspended temporarily at times, some for good (maybe a no loopholes gun control law so we stop killing each other on the street.) but mostly to our detriment. "
Bush has already done that. McCain will continue those policies.
THERE ARE TOO MANY QUESTION MARKS WITH OBAMA. ALMOST EVERYDAY SOMETHING COMES UP WITH OBAMA THAT PONTS TO THE FACT THAT HE IS A SOCIALIST AND IS USING EVERY MEANS POSSIBLE TO STEAL THIS ELECTION. WRIGHT, AYERS, ACORN, CREDIT CARD FRAUD, CAMPAIGN DONATIONS FROM OUR ENEMIES OUTSIDE OF THIS COUNTRY, AND NOW HIS BIRTH CERTIFICATE BEING A FAKE? CAN'T VOTE FOR HIM.
John McCain was born in Panama and Mitt Romney's father was born in Mexico. Your point?
Why don't you talk about facts instead of throwing out these old tired lies...in fact, instead of saying something negative about Obama, why don't you try saying something positive about your own candidate and how his policies would benefit the American public? Maybe because there's nothing there?
There's nothing to positively comment on Obama. #1 most liberal voting record; Voted to increase taxes; is associated with all corrupt characters. etc Oh maybe getting elected to senator, oops I forgot he ran against no one. Maybe, maybe, campaign? Nah really not a qualification. Sorry can't say anything positive. Not even his wife is proud of this country. Sorry couldn't find anything. Nice speech and rhetoric though!!!! Didn't Hitler and Stalin have nice speeches?
Deedo he said mention something positive about McCain, but once again you proved his point by dodging into an Obama attack LOL!!! No wonder you guys are losing... You debate like Palin...
THE VERY TOP OF THE WEALTH HOLDERS DON'T PAY MUCH INCOME TAX BECAUSE THEY USE THAT MONEY TO INVEST IN BUSINESSES AND CREATE JOBS, TO GROW THE AMERICAN ECONOMY AND ALLOW AMERICANS WHO ARE ALSO WILLING TO WORK FOR WHAT THEY GET TO DO SO. IT APPEARS THAT TOO MANY AMERICANS ARE IGNORANT OF HOW THE ECONOMY WORKS.
Guess you need to pay more attention to Warren Buffett and his saying that his secretary pays a greater percentage of taxes than he does?
Creating jobs??? So Exxon Mobil is creating jobs with their obscene profits? They are doing R & D with their profits? Nope. Their R & D expense is in the single digits. Their main concern is their stockholders.
Obama has said it over and over again. I am not sure why no one seems to get it. This is a bottom-up movement. The change that we need can only come from the bottom and merely supported at the top. There is plenty of work to do. The people of this country will be asked to do something to make this country better. I do believe that a bored mass of people is a dangerous thing, but Obama has repeatedly said that he does not want us to be waiting for the government to act. We will be asked to work locally to make this country better. If he does not do this, then he will have problems, but if you support him and you are not ready to work harder for you community and your country then you do not understand the effort that he is trying to lead.
Like the botton-feeders of our society are going help....................
And the next step in the Obama regime is to shut the mouths of the citizens of the U.S. Just like Biden did to a reporter in Florida., because he couldn't and wouldn't answer the question The news station is now banned. I love it, you sheep who can't see the wool being pulled over your eyes. Get ready for the Messiah's message: Cut the heads off of all who work for a living, refuse to ask any questions that are not of their liking, condemn the constitution. But alas, all the signs were in The One's witings, speech and actions. U.S.A. if The One is elected, make sure to check the exit visas of those leaving and be prepared for a total "difference" in the U.S.A.
How long do you stay up at night to think up this stuff?
The reporter in Florida was baiting Sen. Biden on purpose and was using Republican talking points. He didn't have to answer the questions. Now if they were serious questions he would have. Sort of like Faux News still existing. Why?
They should...we just gave them a bailout.
When people wake up and hold CONGRESS accountable, then it will be a nice day. Who cares who is POTUS when people re-elect the same people who are actually responsible for voting for the laws and actions they are against so much.
I think most Obama supporters are aware he is a politician. He won't be any different in the ways that this article brings up than any other POTUS.
And for all of you who blame everyone else's party for what is wrong...the only thing wrong is that you need someone to blame.
Exactly. Look closely at your representative's voting record and if you don't like it, fire him/her!!! Now!!!
Who is bested suited to lead in these difficult times? The two candidates have had to deal with both a major presidential level decision and a global crisis in the past couple months.
We just witnessed as good a side by side crisis test as you could ask for. Both candidates had to respond to the global financial meltdown, which John's campaign manager Rick Davis called "the worst financial crisis in our nation's history." It was John McCain who was late to recognize what was happening and then couldn't figure out how to respond. He made a dramatic show of suspending his campaign because he knew he needed to seize the initiative politically, but then didn't seem to have any coherent position once he took charge. It doesn't inspire confidence when you say you're going to do something and then back down within days.
On the critical matter of selecting a VP who would step into the Presidency in an emergency, John McCain gives us an unintelligent mediocrity without knowledge or experience in national and international issues. Palin clearly was chosen to fire up the religious right base, but she has little appeal to the vast swath of America. Obama's VP pick is Sentor Joe Biden, who clearly has foreign policy chops and could legitimately step into the Oval Office should the need arise.
John's horrendous POW experience did nothing to prepare him for the job of president. A captive soldier must cope with a situation in which he has no control and can decide nothing. A President of the United States must make good decisions over and over again. Barack Obama has demonstrated the intelligence, calmness and good judgment we so desperately need in a leader for these troubled times. He has been tested repeatedly in this marathon campaign and he has risen to meet every challenge, sticking to his message of hope and change, and not falling into the low-life mud slinging we have seen from McCain.
Obama has better judgement, better temperament, better manners and better ideas that John McCain. I'm a middle-aged white female Christian Republican, and I am voting for Barack Obama.
Hitler & Stalin were all even tempered and knew how to incite the crowd with a record of "community organizing" And they all had the same message of change. Do you see a pattern?
What's up with all the Nazi comparisons? Are you suggesting that Obama was a concentration guard or something? LOL. Get real.
NO, 'BECAUSE OBAMA WASN'T EVEN BORN YET"; JUST LIKE HE WAS 8 YEARS OLD WHEN AYERS BOMBED THE PENTAGON. OBAMA'S ROLE MODELS WERE: FRANK(THAT HE MENTIONS IN HIS BOOK), REVEREND WRIGHT, HIS SOCIALIST FRIENDS IN COLLEGE, ETC. ETC. DO YOU CONTI NOT TO SEE A PATTERN?
Where did he mention that Frank was a role model? Frank was 80 when he met him. He refers to him.
So when I was in college and had a Black Panther for a professor then that would make me a Black Panther? If that was a bad thing? This guilt-by-association stuff is for the birds...
Yo, Deedo, Sarah Palin is calling. She wants you in the crowd at her next rally shouting "Kill Obama, He's a Nazi terrorist."
Actually, folks, you should see the clips of the people attending Palin's rallies. It's very scary the way she incites the crowds to hatred and violence. This is NOT what America should stand for.
Godwin's Law
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwins_law
Hitler, Stalin, FDR, Woodrow Wilson, John F Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Winston Churchill, Ghandi, Gorbachev, Mussolini, Ronald Regan, Bill Clinton. Let's see we can keep naming names that fit that trait going back thousands of years. What's your point?
People on these bogs are fond of saying that the current economic meltdown was caused by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting bad mortgages. While Fannie and Freddie obviously are guilty of writing bad mortgages, and worse, guilty of lobbying Congress to allow them to do so with impunity, their actions are just a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to determining who (or what) caused the financial crisis we face today.
In 1929 the stock market crash caused the banks to fail, because the banks were in bed with the stock market. Back then, banks owned investment houses, so when the stock market fell, the banks fell too. This triggered the Great Depression. So in 1933 the Congress wrote laws that regulated banking, making it illegal for banks to own investment companies, mortgage guaranty companies or insurance companies. The idea was to keep key industries separated by a fire wall, so that if one industry failed the whole economy would not go down in flames.
But the Republicans under Bush deregulated the banking industry. Senator Phil Gramm wrote legislation (the Gramm Rudman Act, the Gramm Leach Biley Act, etc.) that stripped away the regulations in the financial and insurance industies. He pushed them through the Republican Congress and they were signed into law by Geo. W. Bush. John McCain voted in favor. Everybody said how great it is to deregulate and create free markets.
Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch each gave over a million dollars to Senator Gramm's re-election campaign.
The economic collapse that happened later was a direct result of the deregulation, and here's how: the banks wrote bad mortgages, then bundled the mortgages into investment vehicles that they sold all over the world, and they even got firms like AIG to insure the investments. It was all a house of cards.
If there had been no deregulation, sure we would have had a bunch of bad mortgages, and the mortgage guaranty and real estate industries would have suffered, but there would not have been a global financial meltdown, since the problem would have been contained in one sector of the economy. You can thank Geo W. Bush, Sen. Phil Gramm and Sen John McCain for the meltdown, since they were strong proponents of deregulation.
Furthermore, although Fannie and Freddie are now holding the bulk of these bad mortgages, Fannie and Freddie did not originally write most of these mortgages. They bought them after the fact, bundled by banks/investment companies. Fannie and Freddie got screwed by the Wall Street fat cats. And so did you, if you pay taxes.
What is Phil Gramm doing today? He works as a lobbyist in Washington, trying to make it legal for the Swiss bank he represents to sell Death Bonds in the United States. Nice guy, Phil Gramm. Incidentally, John McCain has said that he wants to appoint Phil Gramm as Treasury Secretary. Some people just can't learn from their mistakes.
That should strike fear in your heart. Phil Gramm as Secretary of the Treasury? Please...
Yes, ACORN has been a thorn in the GOP side. ACORN actually wants to better people's lives and heaven forbid if they should help people vote. Don't you know that to the GOP only "real" Americans should have the right to vote.
The people who shaped Obama are indeed controversial, AT BEST. Just because Obama says something does not make it so. But you all go ahead and continue buying into this charisma (that's all it is...charisma) and see what you get for it. The only problem is that you are taking us ALL down with you. Good luck...we're all going to need it if this man is elected President of The United States of America. He promises change, but it's not going to be the change you expected. God bless America....PLEASE!
What are you so afraid of?
Now, if I were into conspiracy theories and fear tactics I would be deathly afraid of the Christian Right and their mercenary army, Blackwater. Think about that.
HOW COME you Repig's can not get it in your thick skulls that we have had enough of Corruption, Lies, Cheney, Abramoff, War that was a lie, 13 trillion dollar debt etc. are you BLIND?
If you have had enough of lies, you are voting for more of the same with Obama...he has not been honest and it has been proven...so go for it...and by the way, I am not a Republican.
YE EEEEEEES! Proven how? Seems McCain is down on fact-check -as a complete liar 40-of 44 times. Seems the media and popular opinion - not the opinionof the Rep crazies - shows McCain is losing this election because of the swift-boating and Palin. What do you mean?
Of course you aren't. LOL.
Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.
And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your priorities.
You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.
And don't forget Phil Gramm and all the lobbyists on the McCain team.
So this is the famous McCain "experience"? I think not.
Of course he does, Nins...because he hasn't the knowledge to do anything for himself in terms of POTUS...that's why he needs so many people running him.
Wait. So now having expert advice is a BAD thing?
Interesting that Mr. Fineman did not mention that the supporters have already had a part in decision making. Meetins were held this summer across the nation for giving input for the Democratic platform.
Republicans for Obama!
It is fashionable, but only for now probably,
or for as long as it is convenient;
for republicans to interpret such qualities as, "skilful, ambitous and driven'
(blogged by neocon below),
as well as calm, collected, educated, brilliant, thoughtful, far-sighted, consistent,
including popular, honorable, respectful, professional, personable, balanced,
non-judgemental, worthy, dedicated and caring,
as NEGATIVES.
Maybe Pavlov can help us out.
I agree with Howard Fineman's article "What Have We Created?!" particularly the comment, "The resulting bottom line is astounding. 3.1 million contributors, 5 million volumteers, 2.2 million supporters on his main Facebook page, 800,000 on his MySpace page and perhaps a million more names on Obama's own campaign Web site. Even discounting for likely duplicates, Plouffe says he could end up "knowing" almost 7 million voters by election Day--roughly one in 10 of Obama's likely total. "These are people who are responsive," he says. "They want to be respected and to continue to be involved in what we do." And so they will be if Obama is elected, "If he wins, he's going to have a personal following he can use to press his agenda," says Marshall. "He can use these millions to reach over the heads of the Washington insiders, the Democrats on the Hill. It could be powerful."" I predict that it will be powerful. It will replace right-wing media, such as Rush Limbaugh because it has two-way communication which is not as slanted as his is. I've been writing on the Obama Blog for about four months now and of the over 30 articles I've submitted, he has accepted every one of them and he has not changed one word that I have written. I was supporting Senator Hillary Clinton in the Primary and I told her that he was going to beat her because he makes better use of the Internet and particularly starting his own Blog Site was really unique. There were two issues I pressed Senator Clinton on which Senator Obama agrees with and that is TAXING THE HEDGE FUND DEALERS, particularly the ones headquartered offshore. They are outside the banking system, they don't pay any federal income tax and they are pumping trillions of various TOXIC DERIVATIVES into our financial system. When testifying before Congress, former Fed Chm Alan Greenspan admitted that he had made some mistakes concerning CREDIT DEFAULT SWAPS. The snail's pace that Fed Chm Bernanke is moving, I believe is deliberate and his total goal is not to help out the credit market but to help the Investment Banks take over the Commercial Banks and instead of having just nine big banks that the $700 biillion plus Bailout is susposed to help, we'll end up helping the most biggest and elitist banks and we will end up with just three or four huge banks with the attitude of "too big to fail." The other issue is--just how TOXIC are those VARIOUS DERIVATIVES. Sad part of this is that us middleclass are left holding the bag. This is what we will be discussing on the Obama Blog.
Yours truly, Disgusted Middleclass Taxpayer, LaVern Isely
RACISM FEARS DEFEAT;
Africans thought he had no chance???then they started to believe. Now they fear defeat.
Managing expectations and reactions has become Topic A in many black homes and on blogs such as Bossip, Stereohyped and Angry Black Male. "People that I know that have never cared about politics are registering to vote this time: gang members, ex-cons, you name it," says rapper Snoop Dogg. "I hate to see a lot of that hope go down the drain, and if he loses, it will."
Racism, naturally, plays a part in the conversation. "I've never forgotten that he is a smart, articulate African with a smart, articulate black wife," says Linda Wright, 34, a nurse's assistant from Houston. "You think white people were just going to turn over the keys to the most important job in the land without a fight?" The overriding feeling is apprehension, an increasing fear of losing something people thought was theirs to keep.
There's not a lot of anger???yet???but you can start to sense the potential for it. "I'm going to be mad, real mad, if he doesn't win," says Daetwon Fisher, 21, a construction worker from Long Beach, Calif. "Because for him to come this far and lose will be just shady and a slap in black people's faces. I know there is already talk about protests and stuff if he loses, and I'm down for that." Another asked if someone could legally be turned away from the polls for wearing saggy pants or cornrows in your hair.
A new poll shows that 95% of African Democrats harbor negative views toward whites. Obama's problem is close to home ??? among his fellow Democrats, particularly non-Hispanic white voters. 9 in 10 people who are African call themselves Democrats and support Obama
[Obama] is drawing almost unanimous support from blacks, the poll shows.
Statistical models derived from the poll suggest that Obama's support would be as much as 6% percentage points higher if white racial prejudice [among Democrats] was not in play.
Race is the biggest factor driving Democrats and independents towards Obama.
Africans, or, Black Americans. There is a difference. The two terms should not be used interchangeably.
Sorry, but I dont care how mad you or anyone else gets if Obama loses! Guess what I couldent give a rip if he is Black. I dont like his socialist viewpoints, I dont like his sitting in a church full of haters for 20 years, that is a issue for moderates as well as conseratives. I am sure you could care less about my concerns but they are no less valid then yours.
