I have donated to the Obama campaign but I am not stupid, and I assume others who donated are not either. I am supporting the person who I think will do the best job running the country, not someone who I expect will email me to ask my vote on what he is going to be doing. You people sometimes come up with the craziest ideas. You need to get a life, Time.

Well if you have noticed the trend, some of the commentators around here, Fineman being an example have turned contrarian about an Obama adminstration. I think the media is paniced that they have a week and a half before election night and Obama has apparently put this one away. If people start thinking that way, the crowds will go away. So like Todd over at MSNBC they diddle around with articles about why its not over, why this flaw and that flaw in Obama's push for the Whitehouse. How McCain can still win etc., etc., ad nauseum. Todd over at MSNBC is dancing exactly the same dance with his electoral vote projection, its been stuck on exactly the same total of electoral votes for over a week now, while polling paints a pretty clear picture of Obama increasing his lead in a lot of the battle ground states Todd is calling tossups. Todd's answer to this is that there are other factors in consideration besides polling. He fails to name them, or provide any answer beyond that brief cryptic statement. In the media bizz its apparently all about the money, just like it is most other places.

Great comment! I too have donated to Obama's camp many times. It is a good investment in America's future. Viva Obama/Biden 08!

"Ohio officials are investigating whether government computer systems were illegally accessed to acquire personal information about "Joe the Plumber," The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Public records requested by The Dispatch reveal information on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher's driver's license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database.

Information on Wurzelbacher was obtained on Oct. 17 through an account used by the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency in Cleveland, The Dispatch reported records as showing.
Access to such information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business.

The Dispatch reported that information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department."

Ahhh, the RepubliCON organization in Ohio is trying to get something, anything to disrupt the state going Democratic in the election. If the Supremes won't allow them to surpress the vote, they'll try to generate scandal. Hey you Ohio RepubliCONs, be very careful not to step out of bounds yourself. We'll be watching you. What a fine group of guys. Is this a great country or what?

  • Posted By: Against-Ignorance @ 10/25/2008 10:38:11 PM

uhmm, isn't that rather how a democracy works? You vote your people in and expect them to listen to and (gasp) do the things they said they'd do? Failing to see how this article reveals anything of import.

If you take off the blinders you will see the truth in the article, enough said.

"It could also cause Obama problems. Much of America may be gung-ho about putting more troops into Afghanistan, but it's not clear Obamaworld is; he could run into opposition if he seriously pursues it. On the other hand, initiating talks with Iranian and Venezuelan dictators enjoys more support on his e-mail lists than in the rest of the country. If the Democrats win bigger majorities in the House and Senate, they (if not Obama) may well be eager to exact vengeance on Republicans, or at least cram Democratic ideas down GOP throats. Obama supporters might prefer more reaching-out."

I can represent at least one supporter that wants Obama to put more troops in Afghanistan and get them out of Iraq. Afghanistan was always a necessary war for us, and if we'd put one-fourth of the troops in Iraq into Afghanistan (and kept the rest out of Iraq) we'd be sitting pretty.

As far as the Democrats shoving their stuff down GOP throats, the article is dead on. I don't want them to use my vote this year (which is for more than just Obama on the Democratic ticket) to pursue some long-suppressed agenda. I want them to start fixing the deregulation, and I *do* want to see reaching out. We need a bipartisan approach to fix our problems. Much as I have disliked the voting patterns of a lot of GOP Congresspeople, I had to respect them for being some of the only ones to actually register opposition to the bailout plan in its first form, which I thought was necessary. I actually thought Obama might win the Presidency and the GOP would get Congress for awhile, but it looks like we might see a big blue tidal wave instead.

One has to hope that Obama supporters trust him to have inside knowledge about such issues, and an understanding of how best to deal with them. If elected, it may take time for Obama to prove himself, and his supporters may have to have that precious quality called patience as he does. One thing I have realized with our nations economic difficulties is that I don't have all the information available to have a valid opinion about what should be done. I have no choice but to watch as decisions are made and wait to see how it all plays out. I am supporting Obama's potential, not my own less informed ideas.

Nowforthtruth, what do you really know about McCain's economic philosophy since he has never run a town, state, or business, has never been employed in the private sector, and admits he doesn't know anything about the economy?

Ignore Neos, Lori. . . If he doesnt like anything he reads in these posts then he tries to smear the name of people. I also read about this terrorist couple having recieved matching rings from the Vietnamese as you describe above. I would not doubt that this as being true given how radical these two are at heart still, unapologetic terrorists that wish they had done more in their bombings (which he said in an article in one of the major newspapers on. . . of all days. . . 9/11).

    • Posted By: Nowforthetruth @ 10/25/2008 7:34:31 PM

Actually, he was employed in the private sector after retiring from the Navy and before running for Congress.

  • Posted By: neos @ 10/25/2008 8:13:45 PM

Well it looks like the right-wing nujobs are all back in force. sharesmears, Icky, and their little attack dog Lori. Your little cabal lacks only unholyroller to form a satanic quorum. I see you all disappeared for a while yesterday to form up lynch mobs to get the 'six-foot four black male' who attacked and (gasp) sexually assaulted the poor little McCain supporter before carving a backward 'B' on her cheek. Since you all only listen to Rush or watch Fox you probably still haven't heard that it was all a terrrible hoax. But you gullible fools all drank deeply of the Kool-Aid didn't you? How many long hours did you spend yesterday in self-righteous indignation over this latest smear? Just like the Kool-aid you are spreading here. You are such easy prey for Rush and Hannity's hate-mongering innuendo. Such pathetic and petty narrow-minded fools you are. Desperately trying to pass along lies and smears, deperately trying to connect dots that aren't related.

................................The Right Wing Pundits are coming "out of the woodwork" with every negative thrust that they can find to throw at Obama because they are loosing and are very desperate. The entrenched Republicans have control of the Corporate and Born Again Votes so they will use their powers to try to save the sinking "Maverick" McCain Campaign......they use lots of sleeze but at this stage of the campaign they will be much more able to fool naive voters, not fair but it is happening!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm one of these you're talking about. No we're expecting the world in four years. We're tired of watching the modern day Republican party govern this country into catastrophie after catastrophie. We're tired of a run amook government that cowers to evangelicals at every pass. We're tired of our government being controlled by the GOP base that thinks we're in the 19th century for crying out loud. That's why we got behind Obama.

Obama in this video is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other Community Activist's organizations. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President and pledge to meet with leaders of Acorn and the others present at the convention in his first year, Obama says, quote:

"Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda."

See and hear it for yourself. Obama has promised that Acorn and other groups like it will a part of his transition and setting his agenda if elected:

I think it is terrible that the Unions will be doing away with the Secret Ballot voting if Obama gets into the White house. Read this, folks. Obama supporters. . . how can this be a good thing?

    WASINGTON TIMES
    SOWELL: Whose 'special interests'?
    Thomas Sowell
    Saturday, August 16, 2008

    COMMENTARY:
We take it for granted that a vote means a secret ballot but it was not always that way. Moreover, it will not remain so for workers who vote on whether or not they want a labor union, if legislation sponsored by congressional Democrats and endorsed by Sen. Barack Obama becomes law.

Before there were secret ballots, voters dared not express their true preferences if those who watched them vote could retaliate - whether by firing them, beating them up or in other ways. Anyone who is serious about people being free to express themselves with their votes wants a secret ballot.

I have been an Obama supporter/volunteer for over two years. Have there been times I was disappointed in him? Yes. Have there been times I felt it was a deal breaker? No way. I expect he will make mistakes since we all do. But he is an honest, intelligent man and he tries his best. I think that it the most we can expect from ourselves, one another, or our leaders. Having met a lot of Obama supporters, I think that is the way most of us feel. Yes, we will be there to help him push his agenda of change. Yes, we will be disappointed to see some of what we/he wants get compromised to get passed. But will that disappointment mean we reject Obama or his presidency? No way. Will we email and complain? At times, yeah, we may. BUT: Most of us are thrilled to get to vote for someone who is a strong, good person of intelligence and ideas. We know how lucky we are. This is a good, decent man who values people and knowledge. There will be no mass exodus as there will be no big failure to be true to his ideas.

Come on people vomit the Koolaid and quit drinking it before AMERICA Dies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you really know about Obama's economic philosophy? Since he has never run a town, state or business, he has no record to look at. Oh, he has made lots of promises, but given that he broke his promise to be limited to public campaign funds, you can't put much faith in that, and there will be no means to keep those promises anyway.

But you do know that Obama, along with his democratic buddies in Congress, personally and professionally advocated for a residential housing policy favoring forced sub-prime lending, which subsequently resulted in massive defaults and foreclosures, leading to your loss of significant equity value in your home, to the point that it destabilized your banks, which panicked the stock market, which wiped out your savings.

Look and listen to Obama for yourself. Obama in this video, addressing his community activist work and his work representing ACORN in litigation against the banks and relating to the Community Reinvestment Act, and addressing the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as those actions relate to the destruction of our economy by causing the current real estate and subsequent financial crisis, states that, and I quote:

"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."

Acknowledging the catastrophe, but as apologist for the Democrats, Obama then offers this justification.

"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."

Yah, great idea. Economically unsound, but embraced by Obama. Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732 from this web site. (oops!) stating that Freddie Mac was spending tax payer money to target Republicans in 2005 who were trying to regulate Fannie and Freddies fraud. Democrats were not targeted, as the were all in the tank with Fannie and Freddie to kill the regulations. Hear that, the article admits that Republicans were trying to regulate Freddie and Fannie, and Democrats were trying to stop it from happening as a means to facilitate the Community Reinvestment Act.

    See also: http://www.newsweek.com/id/164972
Stating that Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act wasn't what caused the meltdown, and noting that "economists on both sides of the political spectrum have suggested that the act has probably made the crisis less severe than it might otherwise have been."

In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" we found out that Obama really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

Their failed policies are what brought us to ruin. Even Bill Clinton says so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsynspIqAoE
Obama and a supermajority of Democrats simply is not the change we need, nor is it change we can afford.

"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."
