That was because the Republicans were working....
Yeah I would go watch him too-great entertainment value, but I wouldn't vote for him. I am smart enough to know the difference between a clown and a presidential candidate.
So, what do you make of the fact that Palin outdraws McCain?
There's no greater clown than W, it's all downhill from here in that aspect.
Palin likes name calling of others. sarah the ignorah.
It's not about the clothes..it's about the right wing nuts...the "religious" intolerance and bigotry in the guise of "christianity", the paranoid and conspiracy theory gun crowd, and the gay haters. Throw in the ignorant and low information crowd, the anti science bunch, the anti intellectuals, and the rednecks, and you have the republican party..McCain, et al ceded the middle class, and any future picture incluuding Palin will likewise cede the middle class and the
Wendydk: Thats because my mind is open and yours is nailed shut
JoanR: You're not seeing it because it's all in your mind.
We aren't seeing much here about Obama's ACORN thugs or his PLO pals in Chicago, but very happy to note that you are on the job to dissect Sarah Palin's wardrobe. Where or where would we be without our ever alert mainstream media ? Pretty much where we are it seems
"YES WE CAN" ....THATS WHAT OBAMA AND HIS CAMPAIGN STAFFERS SAY WHEN THEY ALL JUMP IN BED WITH MICHELLE OBAMA.....YUK ..YUK..YUK..YUK..YUK
Slander refers to a malicious, false, and defamatory spoken statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism.
It is being reported that Gov Palin is not getting along with some McCain "aides." She's probably fed up with all of their decisions on what she should say, who she should talk to, what she should wear, even what her family should wear. The media has investigated just about every aspect of her life. How come they haven't gone into the background of the other newcomer.. the candidate for PRESIDENT with such zeal? Where are the investigative reports into his past, is there or isn't there a connection to Ayers and others from the SDS/Weathermen era, what leadership roles has he had, what successes as a Senator? What about interviews with his brother in Kenya? Or are they too busy interviewing the young gent who will soon be marrying into the Palin family? I have never seen the bias stronger in the media than with this event. This is not the journalism that I studied in school.
Joe Biden is a well known, veteran public official. His skeletons have been hanging on the clothes line for years. He doesn't have a pregnant teen daughter. He didn't abuse his power as the Governor of Alaska. His wife didn't go shopping at Neiman Marcus with donated money. His children don't travel the country at the expense of Alaskan tax payers. He didn't leave the City of Wasilla (pop. 7,000) around 20 million dollars in debt. He doesn't hang out on Saturday Night Live making an ass out of himself and inviting public scrutiny for this behavior. Do I need to keep going? Sarah Palin has some serious history that America has a right to know about. Maybe had McCain used better judgement, her skeletons would have remained just that forever. She chose to expose herself and her family to the microscope-That was just a small example of her bad judgement. She is getting everything she deserves!
Hear, hear...this woman is dangerous, and the "first dud"... being co-gov with this lame brain.....the dreadful children??? She needs to pack it up...and head back to Alaska...where I hope they have new pair of "bracelets" for her and the dud
You seem a little confused.. Joe Biden is not running for president. The presidential candidate is the newcomer, and his background deserves to be examined and dissected under the microscope.
Senetor Obama has been under the microscope since he joined this race. He has answered up to allegations, He has admittited his associations with questionable characters. He has written books about his life. His skeletons too have been on the line for quite some time. I was comparing Palin to Biden considering that they are running for the same office. However, due to McCains age and health, Palin has a much higher chance of ending up as the President than Biden. Who she is, where she comes from, what she stands for, and her character and judgement are very relevent.
Obama has not been well vetted by the MSM
That's okay, Sean Hannity seems to be doing enough to make up for anything the MSM might be missing.
I just hope they remember this in four years if she runs for President.
This is exactly why her clothing expenses are relevant. Donors want to know that their money is being spent wisely, in a way that directly benefits the campaign. If she'd spent even half as much, she and her family could still have appeared very professional without creating a talking point.
Gov. Palin could have bought her clothes at Dillard, Belk, Marshall, TJ Max, and similar stors. She would have spent less and avoided all the fuss. But no, some wizbang decided that she shop these stores, like millions of us do, she had to shop like the upper crust Republicans she is.
To judibrowni from 0256 this morning:
None of the others mentioned in your rant are running for the highest office in this country. The American people deserve full disclosure and tranparency, not arrogant dismissal. When asked a question, the response should be direct and truthful - no spin, no excuses.
And it has been my sad experience onthis and other blogs that the Obama supporters are the most mean-spirited, name-calling, nasty bunch of people I have ever encountered. Anyone who doesn't agree with you, sho doesn't fall in line with your beliefs, is publicly tarred and feathered and eviscerated.
By hiding skeletons, by not publicly and honestly dealing with a question, he leaves himself and this country at great risk and open to major security issues.
Beware of sweeping generalizations.
And as to the negative comments of course liberals are going to be insulting conservatives!
You people have made the word "liberal", "progressive", "democrat" and any other pseudonym of those a slur in this country. You have associated us with terrorists, socialists, communists, elitists, tree-huggers, coffee-drinkers, and everything else for TOO LONG. Its OUR TURN. For the past 30 years you people have held the politcal arena and you marginalized the liberal movement that was prevalent in the 60's. You turned us into monsters in the eyes of the American people. HOW DOES IT FEEL MR/MRS CONSERVATIVE? IS IT FUN BEING A MONSTER? Do YOU like it?
It is our time people. This is the chance to really clear the liberal ideology from all the ABSOLUTE CRAP that has been thrown at us for the past 30 years. This is OUR chance to make things right and prove to the American people that liberalism means Jobs, prosperity, peace and hope. Sure Barack Obama may be the first black president, but this is our chance to prove which ideology is better for the American people.
So, conservatives, enjoy a taste of your own medicine. I hope it goes down real smooth, because I can still taste it in the back of my throat.
If you don't like what the term "liberal" means then you and yours have yourselves to blame. You belie yourselves when you habitually and completely absolve yourselves of responsibility in almost every situation you have created and then blame the rest of the world for your problems. This is your legacy -- OWN it! And if you don't like it - CHANGE it.
OURSELVES TO BLAME? I think we have Newt Gingrich, Ronald Reagan, Alan Greenspan, George HW Bush, George W Bush, Jerry Fallwell, Bill Frist, Donald Rumsfeld, the religious right, and all you other crazies out there to blame. Oh, and you for believing the crap. Thanks.
There you go again, POINTING THE FINGER. You don't seem to be able to help yourself...
Oh yeah theres more
Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Micheal Savage, Lars Larson, the entire state of Texas, Neil Cavuto, Don Imus, Michelle Bauchman, Richard Nixon, the evangelical church, Foundation for the New American Century, right wing bloggers, etc.
See, dear oregano, when there are people to blame for actions that have been taken its generally accepted in modern society that they be cited when trying to place blame. These people in large part are responsible for the dismantling of the classical definition of liberalism. They tried to replace it with neo-liberalism which is just another word for conservative. Your comment along the lines of "its your fault because you let this happen to yourselves" is not a valid one. We have tried OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again to change the talking points in this country, while you people just sat back and played everyone. You played them against their own worst fears, insecurites, and religion and spun the message in this country FOR SO LONG that people began to believe it. The conservative repeated the same hateful message so many times that it actually has become ingraned in the very fiber of society. Seriously, say the word liberal in a workplace. I dare you. For one day, my dear oregano, I want you to become a liberal. I want you to say that you are a liberal and see how many dirty looks you get. I want you to see how the opinion of your coworkers change.
Its unfortunate because we have done nothing wrong. We are just another ideology, like conservatism. We at least deserve the right to state who we are and what we believe in without being looked at like marxist pigs, anti-american pigs. I know I am not anti-american. I know I am not marxist in any way, shape, or form. So why is it fair that I get treated as such?
Hear! Hear!
"Liberal" does not HAVE to mean bad, unless that interpretation is pushed. There are liberal-thinking, or progressive Republicans out there who have never supported this pollution of our common language.
We really do distort our language and the ability to make meaning with each other when we give in to this hyperbolic, sensational use of language as a tool to degrade and demean others' ideas that we may not agree with.
By the way, the word "conservative" certainly has been distorted and degraded as well. When are we going to revisit the essential American value of "agreeing to disagree" with civility?
see the difference is that conservatives changed the term conservative for themselves. We had the term liberal changed for us....No. We handed the conservatives the term and let them change it for us. Well guess what: WERE TAKING IT BACK!
Well said! I'm tired of hearing the "Liberal" used as if it were foul language. If it weren't for liberals, progressives, and Democrats, this country would still own slaves, the women's suffrage movement would have never made progress, and whites and blacks would still use separate entrances and public facilities. We understand that social evolvement means progress, prosperity, and equality for all walks of life. Which is as it should be. Amen!
We don't get credit for it.
STOP THE SLANDER!
STOP THE LIBEL!
OBAMA/BIDEN 2008!
MEMO2 Really now? Are you saying in times past you put your unfailing trust in the president of YOUR choice? GET REAL DIMWIT!
So youre saying you have trust in someone who voted yes approximately 90% of the time in the last 8 years for Bush's policies and you think they are going to "shake things up now?"
And did or do you trust Bush's policies then or now?
Do you trust a "hockey mom" that when the chance arrives spends $150.000.00 on clothes at a very very upscale dept store?
You trust a woman like that to "curb spending'
GET REAL!! Youre not even logical!
Coment to All concerned all have own reason to express your maind.
for me just, I do not trust Mr: Obama.
Thak-you last coment.
I would be very angry if the amount spent on Palin is a million dollars. I don't think that's enough for a pretty woman like her (Palin) and her family the $150,000.00 in question considering how we live in America and the cost of living. Maybe Newsweek is comparing Sarah to Michele's clothing,.....big difference between the two to be honest with you! Sarah is too pretty with higher standard. Amount ok with me. JLBryce
Sounds like you are in the bracket that wants to bitterly cling to your ever increasing tax cuts promised by McCain. Good news for you, the tax cuts will just balloon with your ever-increasing income. Look at side by side comparisons, on CNN website for instance. For the rest of us, this goes beyond the line of how we all live in America.
This story is news-worthy, but the story of $850,000 going to ACORN isn't?
It was $872,000, and it went to a different organization, not to Acorn. Acorn was a sub-contractor, and received $80,000 of the total.
You need to get your facts straight, Willie. Try absorbing something else besides FoxNews. Because I heard a rumor that everyone addicted to Fox is planning to take cyanide the night of November 4th. Save yourself now while you still can!
It is to an ACORN subsidiary which is essentially the same thing - get your COMMON SENSE straight - can you not think for yourself AT ALL - even a little bit ???-- enjoy your koolaid
Wrong again - it was to an organization which hired Acorn as a subcontractor, which is the opposite of "a subsidiary of Acorn." And it is by no means the same thing.
2008..the end of Journalism..I have stopped watching the major networks ABC, NBC and CBS because I am sick and tired of their L I E S and d i s t o r t i o n s
And you know something that hasn't been hashed over again and again in the press? Do enlighten us, oh wise one.
AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Obama could have said "no" to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac under the table bribe. But he didn't and I bet he bought some really nice "duds" for himself, his wifey and kiddos.
You're confused, there was no Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac or other bribe. Don't hallucinate. Republicans have had nothing real to go on so they just throw words together in the same sentence, or show pictures of other people with Obama, to create impressions that there is a connection; don't be deluded.
Did I miss something? I don't recall reading anything about Obama taking a bribe or, anyone from Fannie/Freddie offering him one. Since either would be a crime you would think it would have made the news - at least on Fox.
C R I M E S vs. generous spending-spree at Neiman Marcus for the RNC to clothe her entire family for the entire campain. Gee that is a hard one for the empty headed libs to figure out
The main reason why this became an issue is that it counters Palin's claim that she is an "average Joe" and a middle class "hockey mom". If you are going to talk the talk, then you need to walk the walk....sans $5000 pumps.
It is also sad that McCain feels Palin needs to be tricked out for $170,000 to present the right image, not to mention the cost of his own makeup artist??? but renovating a Planetarium to provide the nation???s kids with a place to go, to wonder at the universe and become interested in science for a lifetime is an outrageous waste he would have no trouble cutting. Maybe they should sell her stuff on E-Bay and buy the planetarium the $3,000,000 equipment it needs to serve the public for another 40 years.
McCain has always been good at taking tiny projects that serve the public good and ridiculing them, to distract from the gigantic boondoggles he and his cronies have been wasting out money on. This is a chance for us to see that the Emperor and Empress have no clothes.
Thank you! It is the hypocrisy that gets us! The hypocrisy of talking about slashing spending while finding a way around the spending limits that got taxpayer matching funds, and sloshing the excess over onto the RNC. The hypocrisy of directly evading the McCAIN/Feingold restrictions on use of campaign money for personal items. The hypocrisy of whining that Obama should have accepted taxpayer matching funds and spending limits just because McCain had to, when both sides knew that the parties??? own money, and ???independent??? organizations a la Swiftboat, would kick in anyway. The hypocrisy of taking the matching funds with the purported spending limit and then spending in the red and running a campaign debt tab, while claiming that McCain and Palin know how to exercise fiscal discipline and reduce debt. Who will end up paying that debt? Doesn???t that violate the spending limit?
This is just the financial facet of the Republican hypocrisy; there are so many. On foreign policy, on ethics, on the choice of Sarah Palin, on her accusations of anti-Americanism while supporting the Alaskan secessionist fringe, the stunning hypocrisies could fill volumes. But if Palin has gotten more hate than respect, this is why. I can???t even feel sincerity in her folksy image, since the women I have known from comparable backgrounds are not encouraged to engage in macho activities like moose hunting nor to put their children???s needs second to their ambitions. Ironic that the ultraconservatives applaud her so vigorously for doing exactly what they excoriate. We have become far too tolerant of hypocrisy. Obama???s appeal has been his sincerity, which leads to nuance and moderation.
I have a question: What is going to happen when Obama increases taxes and mandates that companies/ corps and individuals provide health insurance. Won't that increase their cost substantially? As everyone knows, nothing in life is for free. If he mandates that companies provide health insurance and increases taxes, companies will: cut jobs; cut salaries; increase costs to the public for their product or shut down all together and move over seas where they don't have to deal with all of the beauracracy. And for those people that were so upset that they didn't have health insurance - now you don't have a job or health insurance. And it gets better. Obama says he will mandate that you as an individual provide health insurance for your kids or he will fine you just as he will fine that corporation. So know you have no job, no health insurance and need to provide health insurance for your kids (somehow) with no money to do so. How does that work. If Obama gets elected and does the things he says he is going to do we are all going to be in trouble. We are going to see this economy drop like a lead balloon. Companies will close up, jobs will be lost and the cost of living will increase dramatically. I guess I don't understand why people don't get this. I guess all people want to hear is that everything is going to be fine and the government will provide for them.
Hate to tell you this but ask the experts: this economy is dropping like a lead balloon and will continue to do so no matter who gets elected. We're going to have to find a way to dig ourselves out of the mineshaft.
