I loved Palin's response that she "doesn't own the clothes." They "belong" to the RNC and will be returned. If she needed to borrow clothes, surely Cindy has some ensembles in her closet that would have done nicely between September 1 and November 4.

    • Posted By: oregano @ 10/26/2008 7:29:46 PM

Maybe we should make it a crime for a VP candidate to spend alot of money on clothes. The empty headed liberals have seen it fit to turn their heads to Obama's and the DNC machines and ACORN's LIES and CRIMES while they see it fit to DEMONIZE this woman. Up is down and down is up.

Did anyone ask Obama how he got $300,000 knocked off the price of the mansion he purchased with the help of Tony Rezko????? Another undre the table bribe, folks.

For the libs, negative reporting only goes one way

    • Posted By: Nins @ 10/25/2008 11:36:25 PM

Wrong again, Izme. Obama purchased the lot next door to his house (not his house). Rezko's wife was involved as a realtor, but Rezko himself was not involved. It is a realtor's job to get their client the best possible price. And the person selling it didn't have to agree to a lower price. They said yes presumably because it was the best offer they got.

How much did Michelle Obama's plastic surgery cost?

    • Posted By: talkinintounges @ 10/26/2008 9:55:31 AM

      You tell us!!
And while you're at it ,you can tell us how much Sarah Palin's brain-amputation cost...
Now THAT must have been expensive, seeing that they would have had to do very extensive "micro-surgery" to first of all, locate it,only then,to find out it was 'non-existant'..
On the other hand,I suggest, you, apply for a brain 'transplant', of which you are in dire need...
perhaps then, you would stop all the "gobbledygook" (a phrase coined by,the ORIGINAL Maverick, who BTW was a Democrat) ....
Now enough time wasted on you....
I hope all other, "able-minded", readers here just ignore your ramblings,as I will in future...

How much do you think Hilary spent on her clothes and personal hair and makeup team? Michelle Obama? Barack Obama? No one speaking in front of millions of people on a daily basis is going to step out in a suit from Walmart. Why is this so shocking? Should it not be more shocking to add up the millions of dollars Obama has spent on media for his campaign? It would be so nice to have 150 million to run a campaign. Why does the media like to focus so much on these smaller things when the illegal donating of people like "Mrs. Dela Ware" to the Obama fund have drawn no attention. Regardless of who you are voting for, the media bias must still be ovious to you.

    • Posted By: Mariner13 @ 10/25/2008 10:33:07 PM

Since Hillary, Michelle, and Barack buy their own clothes it is not an issue. The issue is that the McCain ticket possibly violated a law that He sponsered. That is hypocrisy.

Palin is a governor and has many children. She is a most likely middle class. The others make probably numerous times more than she does. The McCains and Obama's reportedly made millions last year. Palin most probably could not afford the clothes that were needed to clothe her entire family for the entire campaign. Get a grip!!

    • Posted By: Nins @ 10/25/2008 11:26:00 PM

Redbella, although the amount Sarah spent is truly stunning, the real problem is not so much the amount as the fact that the RNC paid for them using donated funds. Obama and Biden (and their wives and children) all pay for their own clothes. Michelle buys her stuff at the mall, and not from expensive designer stores. Sarah makes over $250,000 a year. Should could have invested in a few suits on her own dime. Besides, $150,000? For a campaign lasting two months? I guarantee you that if Sarah had to pay for it, her wardrobe would not have cost even $5,000.

Fifteen years ago, McCain wrote an amendment to tighten the law on using campaign funds for personal items like clothing and stylists. In May of 1993, McCain said this on the Senate floor "The use of campaign funds for items which most Americans would consider to be strictly personal reasons, in my view, erodes public confidence and erodes it significantly."

I guess he forgot what his prior position was. Again.

Just like he forgot that he used to be pro-Choice and pro-gay marriage and pro-immigration reform. He also forgot that he used to be afiliated with ACORN, and with G. Gordon Liddy. If he is lying to cover up what his prior positions have been, shame on him. If he really can't remember, maybe the detractors who claim his mind is aging are correct.

And when you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your PRIORITIES.

You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

Still, I realize that the issue is where the funds are coming from for Palin's clothes, but I am just saying why isn't the fishy funding of Obama's campaign not more of an issue. Yes, he has a done a brilliant job with his grass root funding, BUT..why can a person with a made up name and a made up address donate money on Obama's website and not McCains? Stipulations were set up in McCain's law, and his party goofed, however, while Obama chose to raise his own funds, his campaign is not following the law completely either, and no one seems to raise an eyebrow. And in Palin's case, a very well plucked eyebrow with a lovely arch that probably cost Republican donators $200. Obama buys his own clothes. Great. Both sides have made poor choices none the less.

i am amazed at the filthy, crude, unneccessary and unwarranted comments you make about a very decent woman and her life/family. you don't have to hate someone (mccain/palin), just because you are hypnotized in love w/ another (obama/biden). although i'm a mccain/palin supporter, i think you guys will get your "candidate" in the white house.............and then maybe the mayhem he causes will snap you out of your trance of denial about who he REALLY is and what his agenda REALLY is...............unfortunately. go mccain/palin----- you have morals.

Now there's the pot calling the kettle black..."Who he REALLY is"? As if we all don't see the underlying innuendo there. All I ever hear from the right is whining and complaining and vitriolic back biting. Have any of you ever heard AM talk radio? Have any of you ever heard clips from McCain/Palin rallies where people say "Kill Him" and "Off With His Head" when Obama's name is mentioned?. So before you tell me how I should feel, perhaps you need to take a look in your own back yard.

Palin is no leader and NO MORAL ROLE MODEL for young women or anyone. Listen in on her LAUGHING while some shock jock in her state called one of her opponents "a bitch." ANY CIVIL PERSON would say something like, "Hey, that's not appropriate." Palin laughs when nasty criticism benefits her agenda and I hear a distinctive PERCEIVED WHINE coming from her when that nastiness in politics is aimed at her.

If you can't take the heat...

Palin is so self centered. If she canNOT win as part of the team, she will throw them under the bus for HER OWN SELF GAIN.

What a stinking poor choice McCain made. I am sure he never considered the selfishness of this woman turning against the very team she is part of.

This woman has FIRED ANYONE SHE HAS NOT LIKED.

    Now, get this:
    .
SHE IS FIRING MCCAIN BECAUSE HE HAS NOT SERVED HER SELF INTEREST.

sarah palin is self-centered????? what????? she didn't ask to be picked. she didn't have nearly the amount of time to prepare for this campaign as any other person on the tickets. all things considered, she's doing a fine job supporting mccain.

      • Posted By: melbee1971 @ 10/26/2008 1:02:05 PM

She didn't have to "accept" the job, either. Seems like she's got PLENTY to tend to at home, if you know what I'm sayin'.

  • Posted By: a-decent-person @ 10/26/2008 12:23:07 AM

as i said , you're ugliness continues to show. you can't simply support your candidate without being nasty to the opposition. for all of the petty things you find wrong with the mccain / palin ticket, there are umpteen more reasons to not vote for obama. for every 1 "shady" connection mccain may have had in his past, obama has about at least 5. for any amount of money they have spent (even on clothes----that will be donated later), obama has outspent them 10 times over. for every fool that has shouted something negative about obama @ a mccain/palin rally, obama supporters have done so cruder, louder, tackier, and so much more frequent they can't be counted. for every vote or decision in their past that may not have been the best choice, just take a long look at the people obama has been inspired by, and his poor voting record of "present". when a Hamas leader says he hopes obama becomes president..............wow, that's scary.

    • Posted By: ArJay5000 @ 10/26/2008 7:02:35 AM

By choosing such upscale stores, they sent a message of contempt to the American public.

Their donors have a right to be outraged, and the republicans deserve to lose.

It is not the question of,is it /was it nescessary for Mrs.Palin to have an aproppiate wardrobe..
Much more to the point is... why did she not spend her own money on her clothes.. she does earn enough to be able to buy stylish clothing, get a facial/hair-do... or,is her "salary" as Governor of Alaska *on hold* while she campaigns for VP.. (if not,it should be as she "aint doin no governin" at the moment).
The other issue I would have if MY money was being used for outfits is,ok,Mrs. Palin needs new clothes(much as did "the Emoperor") but what about First Dude?? is he campaigning for "joint office" as in Alaska?
What about the kids clothes? did THEY NEED them also?
I agree the whole thing has been,"over blown" ,but this was started by the "over the top" shoping spree by the
GOP.. The voters who complain about over-spending,will be called "petty-minded" I for one say the Rebublican supporters who have "footed the bill" are "mindless" if they do not express their TRUE opinion on this "irratic" decision to use their donations to "enhance" a person and her family's 'appearance' to make her more acceptable to the American voter... This must surely show, that they were not soooo sure of her 'apeal' to the not so "everyday-Joe-six -pack" "hockey-mom" (real) american,so,decided, better to go for the more, not sooo everyday , 'upper-class' , Indipendent/Republican,would be, voter, JUST INCASE!!!
Sounds like a probable reason to me.... But it back fired!!!

It's funny that Sarah Palin mentioned CS Lewis as one of her favorite writers. Aside from the fact that Lewis is known for childrens books, it's ironic that Lewis's most popular title is "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." For such a concerned Christian, Sarah sure is acting like that sassy witch.

All those endorsements by extremists and witch hunters will come back to haunt Palin, no doubt. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. As Rachel Maddow recently noted (for you wall street gambling folks) "Now would be a good time to invest in IRONY."

How many of Palin's associates have read classic Sufi poetry? "I hold the lion's paw when I dance" anyone?

      • Posted By: talkinintounges @ 10/26/2008 4:58:51 PM

Would C.S,Lewis be *turning in his grave* hearing such an *endorsement* from Mrs.Palin.?..youbetchya.
He wrote for intelligent kids.... She can not (according to McCain aids latest statement) even read the tele-prompter correctly.. goshdarnit.perhaps they do not write *in tounges*...

But *they* have to be literate to get the *point* any kind of clasic literature would be classed a elitism..
and a waste of good *Moose-huntin-time*.in *their* (short sighted) view.

Two years ago, a list of the nation???s brainiest cities was put together from Census Bureau reports ??? that is, cities with the highest percentage of college graduates, which is not the same as smart, of course.

These are vibrant, prosperous places where a knowledge economy and cool things to do after hours attract people from all over the country. Among the top 10, only two of those metro areas ??? Raleigh, N.C., and Lexington, Ky. ??? voted Republican in the 2004 presidential election.

This year, all 10 are likely to go Democratic. What???s more, with Colorado, New Hampshire and Virginia now trending blue, Republicans stand to lose the nation???s 10 best-educated states as well.

It would be easy to say these places are not the real America, in the peculiar us-and-them parlance of Sarah Palin. It???s easy to say because Republicans have been insinuating for years now that some of the brightest, most productive communities in the United States are fake American ??? a tactic that dates to Newt Gingrich???s reign in the capitol
But in the politically suicidal greenhouse that Republicans have constructed for themselves, these cities are not welcome. They are disparaged as nests of latte-sipping weenies, alt-lifestyle types and ???other??? Americans, somehow inauthentic.
If that???s what Republicans want, they are doomed to be the party of yesterday.
Ronald Reagan was lashed by liberals for running a ???Morning in America??? campaign, but he knew this country, at heart, was always tomorrow-looking ??? and he fared very well in educated cities as well as small towns. ???Whatever else history may say about me when I???m gone,??? said Reagan, ???I hope it will record that I appealed to your best hopes, not your worst fears.???
Since McCain went over to the stupid side, his brother recently referred to suburban northern Virginia as ???communist country??? and a top adviser, Nancy Pfotenhauer, said it was not ???real Virginia.???
    You listening *suburban northern Virginia*??
It would be nice, just to keep the philosophical debate sharp, if there were a few thoughtful Republicans around.
That won???t happen so long as Republicans continue to be the party of yesterday. They???ve written the cities off. Fake Americans don???t count, **but this Election Day, for once, they will not feel left out.**

Corruption and foul play come to mind with these allegations. The use of the Republican donation as payment for clothing because Sarah Palin doesn't want the voters to see her as frugal. Well, guess what most of the people in the United States are frugal. They shop at Wal-Mart and Target, not because they are frugal but because that is all they can afford.
Even though Palin doesn't want to look as though she is frugal. It is a much better thing than taking the money from the campaign for a new wardrobe. No matter how much she dolls herself up to look better to the voters it will amount to nothing if she doesn't get her plan out. Past all the glitz and glam of becoming almost a celebrity if you don't have anyone behind you then there is no way that you will be able to rise to the occasion. Being Frugal is not the worst thing that a politician could be.
If the fate of our country is in the hands of a women who views appearance over what she is trying to get out then our nation will see its downfall to the psycho spending of a politician. What will happen in office if we are privileged with a vice president who views beauty over progress? To this we must turn our cheek and speak our voice about it as the First amendment gives us.
