COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE WORDS OF "OUR LEADERS":

"The most effectual means of preventing [the perversion of power into tyranny are] to illuminate, as far as practicable, the minds of the people at large, and more especially to give them knowledge of those facts which history exhibits, that possessed thereby of the experience of other ages and countries, they may be enabled to know ambition under all its shapes, and prompt to exert their natural powers to defeat its purposes." --Thomas Jefferson: Diffusion of Knowledge Bill, 1779. FE 2:221, Papers 2:526

"That???s why I say, I like ever American I???m speaking with were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the tax payers looking to bailout. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health care reform that is needed to help shore up the economy??? Helping the ??? Oh, it???s got to be about job creation too. Shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health care reform and reducing taxes and reigning in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans." Sarah Palin, Interview with Katie Couric

Do we need any further evidence for the DUMBING DOWN of America? Isn't it time we all get together, let the bygones be bygones and DO something about it? I'm voting for Obama not because I agree with all of his ideas, but because he is intelligent and informed and willing to learn.

And trade we???ve got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive scary thing. But 1 in 5 jobs being created in the trade sector today. We???ve got to look at that as more opportunity. ALl those things under the umbrella of job creation.

This bailout is a part of that.

It turns out that RNC has spent $150,000 on clothes for Sarah Palin. They also spent $100 for a romper and hat for little Trig, which he wore on stage at the GOP convention.

A hundred dollar onesie? (And these people are saying that Obama would be a profligate spender.)

Did you know that the outfit Cindy McCain wore when she appeared at the convention cost $330,000?

The RNC says that later Sarah's clothes will be donated to charity. OK, so some homeless person will get to wear this stuff on the streets of New Orleans. (Maybe this is the RNC's version of "trickle down spending.") But wouldn't the homeless be better served by $150,000 donation to a shelter or a food bank than by designer clothing?

Fifteen years ago, McCain wrote an amendment to tighten the law on using campaign funds for personal items like clothing and stylists. In May of 1993, McCain said this on the Senate floor "The use of campaign funds for items which most Americans would consider to be strictly personal reasons, in my view, erodes public confidence and erodes it significantly."

I guess he forgot what his prior position was. Again.

Just like he forgot that he used to be pro-Choice and pro-gay marriage and pro-immigration reform. He also forgot that he used to be afiliated with ACORN, and with G. Gordon Liddy. If he is lying to cover up what his prior positions have been, shame on him. If he really can't remember, maybe the detractors who claim his mind is aging are correct.

One last thought: is the GOP paying for Bristol Palin's maternity wear?

There hasn't been a Democrat majority in Washington since 1965, and before that, 1933. It looks like we are about to see another such event take place. By November 5, 2008 both houses of Congress and the Presidency will be in Democratic hands.

For those readers who can think for themselves, think back to 1965. Kennedy and the Civil Rights movement. A pivotal time in our history, one we can all be proud of. And 1933, when FDR gave us the New Deal and turned around the Great Depression. If you think about the past century, the only two times that we have had a liberal Democrat majority, America got STRONGER and BETTER.

Palin could have and should have said "thanks, but no thanks" to the lavish shopping spree. This is reform? This is being a "maverick"? McCain/Palin is just a bunch of lousy hypocrites!

"One veteran GOP consultant (who also requested anonymity) said the real puzzle among his peers is why Larson didn't find a way to disguise the expenses, at least until after the election. Larson declined to comment."

The fact that this is the final line of this article speaks volumes about the current state of the Republican Party. What a failure the party operative must be is he can't even handle the simplest of basic corruption techniques! The fact that there is chiding falling upon Larson about not covering the expenses up effectively rather than utterly mishandling money and obeying the letter but not the spirit of McCain (McCain!!!!)-Feingold is mind-blowing. Or it would be, f we weren't all so used to it by now.

Let's not forget.........they spent more on Palin's makeup artists than any other staffer. Maybe if they had spent that money on economic statigists, it would have helped McCain more. Instead, they invested in a dolled up VP wannabe and hate.

What's even worse are the lies that Sarah and John are spewing now about the spending. "It didn't happen, we gave it back, etc. Come on.

Did you read this morning that the Ankorage Daily news just endorced Obama?

PORTLAND, Me. ??? It is shaping up as one of the most challenging years that anyone can remember for Republican senators seeking re-election. But as other Republican incumbents elsewhere are battling for their political lives, Senator Susan Collins appears to be gliding toward a third term. After the debate, she told a voter concerned about health care who came up to talk to her that she was open to supporting Mr.
Obama???s health care plan, should he be elected president. ???I actually think his plan is pretty good,???Ms.Collins said.
While she is the state co-chairwoman of the McCain campaign, she recently disavowed a barrage of automated phone calls that attacked Mr. Obama, and she called on Mr. McCain to stop the calls, which threatened to infuriate voters.
Mrs.Collins seen to be a "Real American" while continuing to be a Republican, I am sure, ignoring Mrs. Palin's attempts to divide Democrats and Republicans into two categories "pro-America like us" and "anti-America like them" I wish Mrs.Collins well,as I wish all truethfull, integre persons the same... no buts nor ifs about it.
Let us all try ,to agree to disagree, but with integritry,so that after Nov. 4th. we can ALL work for the future of our children, and grandchildren, who will, one day inherit our failures as well as our victories...We should not take that as lightly.... as we have in the past.

"ABOVE ALL THINGS, I hope that the education of the common people will be attended to, convinced that on their good sense we may rely with the most security for the preservation of a due degree of liberty." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1787. Madison Version FE 4:480

"Convinced that the people are the only safe depositories of their own liberty, and that they are not safe unless enlightened to a certain degree, I have looked on our present state of liberty as a short-lived possession unless the mass of the people could be informed to a certain degree." --Thomas Jefferson to Littleton Waller Tazewell, 1805.

What I find interesting is that Mr. Obama has stated, "America is no longer a Christian nation". Oh, really? Speak for yourself, Mr. Obama. "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord". America was founded upon belief in the Christian God and its laws were founded upon God's laws found in Exodus, Chapter 20. America finds itself in the current mess it's in exactly in proportion to the extent it has abandoned that belief and adherence to those laws. Mr. Barack Obama, if elected President, will take us further down that road.

You are absolutely ridiculous. If you would take your nose out of the scriptures for a few minutes and spend more time understanding the Constitution, perhaps then you would realize that your "current President" with his Rovian cronies have manipulated you over and over again. You have been duped and laughed at behind your back for years. You have been bamboozled into thinking that the right-wing agenda means a more Christian nation while those in power did NOTHING to make that a reality. Have you ever wondered why in the six-years of total Republican control during the Bush Administration that there wasn't more done to overturn Roe v. Wade? It's because those in power in YOUR PARTY don't want to overturn it. Because if they do, then who would you vote for? So get your nose out of your bible, and THINK! By the way, I am a Christian too.

Saul Anuzis, the Michigan Republican Party chairman, still smarting over McCain's decision to pull out of his state. "I have no idea how you spend $150,000 on clothes," he says.

I think we may have stumbled upon the reason for the impending recession. Republicans are cheap.

Of course you have to spend money to dress up Caribou Barbie. She's hot and that's why McCain nominated her. But if you think she's going to catch the eye of voters with her hockey mom outfits, you haven't been paying attention.

Those ruby red slippers are my favorites. In a few more days, she'll be able to click them and find herself back in Alaska.

(Note: McCain announced he won't address his supporters on Election Night. So maybe Caribou Barbie will be Alaska bound in 9 days.)

Michell Obama wears a SIZE 14 shoe!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now there's some BIG feet. We should nickname her "BIG FOOT". She can also be nicknamed "Grumpy." She is so bow legged and when they showed her walking out on the stage at the DNC convention, they had the worst angle, because it did emphasize her shoe size and bowed legs.

    • Posted By: talkinintounges @ 10/26/2008 9:02:07 AM

      What a stupid comment............
Do you mean to say that among the credentials for becoming VP are "the size of your feet",the "shape of your legs???
Or, that the size of yor feet "reveals" your character, but lieing, abusing yur political power does not?
That "talking in tounges" being able to"see Russia from your house" makes you a foreign policy 'expert'.
Well, that sounds "intelligent" to me (please insert loud laugh here).!!!
The last laugh will be on the Republican Party... Can't wait to hear it. roll on Nov.4th.

    • Posted By: talkinintounges @ 10/26/2008 8:39:47 AM

Ah! now we know,it's not the "size" of their brains, but the "size" of their feet, that makes a good VP candidate.....Well,Mrs.Palin has not soooo much going for her,on both accounts..
      Both are MUCH smaller ....
Such a statement realy "drives home" the Republican *values*... I hope AMERICA is reading that STATEMENT!!!

"One veteran GOP consultant (who also requested anonymity) said the real puzzle among his peers is why Larson didn't find a way to disguise the expenses, at least until after the election. Larson declined to comment."

Nice..Republican corruption is now an actual plank of the party...so absolutely expected and condoned that it is considered "wierd" or "surprising" that anyone in the whole party incidentally behaved in an honest way.

The term for these neo-cons is MORALLY BANKRUPT. No decent Christian or any other decent person can vote for them now.

I just still don't understand why people us still looking at, Mrs Sarah Palin,or blame on her, for almost anithing happens in Alaska or some other plase.
let me ask you yes you, how long she is performing her job in Alaska as a Governor .
instead you can look on the past an see the real past here like Mr: Ted Stevens, Frank Murkowski, or Mr: Don Joung, perhaps then you understand, if you still noting on Mrs: Palin Please use your vote for Mr: Obama and few days you will find out how America did it again as 8 years ago the same thing same story you like make a change , you like to change once again the History on this Country go ahead in two years you will understad not to long just two years,

I LOVE the final line about those GOPs wanting a coverup...what values! How can Christians REALLY believe that REPUBLICANS are conservative and deserve their vote based upon a value system that we have been shown?

    Izme:
Outrage??? Why??? Most of that 3.5 million comes from those millions of struggling workers, who are perfectly willing to pay $10, $20 and $50 to fund Obama's campaign. Small sacrifice for those same struggling Americans, when compared to the grim economic forecast under a third Bush term. At least they know their money is not being wasted on socks from Neiman Marcus.
    GoBama!

The RNC spent $150,000 on Pailn's family's clothes when 76% of struggling Americans take home an annual salary of approx. $50,000. Isn't Nordstrom Rack good enough for these people? Who the hell pays full price for clothing, anymore ??? All I can say is McPainful...God Bless America!
