You know that in an election, the campaign definitely wants their candidates to look the part. The men are always dressed in fine suits, but a woman is going to cost a little more I guess. What is the big deal? It all goes to charity at the end of the day. SO WHAT? I haven't heard anyone talk about how much Michelle is spending on her clothes or Barack's. This campaign is so one sided it makes me sick.
The mediat takes every little thing that she says and works it until it is raw. Biden says some really stupid things and everyone laughs? This campaign has been a joke to start with. All of the negative information about Barack Obama is laughed off or pushed away by the media and I really don't get it! Doesn't anyone care whether or not he is consorting with questionable people? Don't even check it out?
I am a life long democrat, but lately they make me sad and afraid. The thought of Obama, Biden and Pelosi at the helm just scares me to death!
What about all of the money that Obama has received? MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars and no one is looking at that at all. The ACORN voting scandal, no one will look at that either and Obama is just mum on that also. I hope that I am wrong, but I don't think so. I don't trust those democrats. It truly is scary to me.

      cindylou,
thnak you for the biggest laugh i have had in weeks! I am picturing a homeless woman in middle america pushing her shopping cart through the streets in a red versace jacket ans red jimmy choos. Can we say HIGHLY UNLIKELY? Wake up and smell the coffee, she is just as greedy as any other politician.

    • Posted By: Yuseff @ 10/28/2008 10:23:56 AM

The Obama's buy their own clothing. The Obama's have a million dollar income now (mostly through book sales) but Michelle is famous for still shopping at Target and the mall.

    • Posted By: mrthing @ 10/28/2008 9:34:38 AM

OK, first. The issue isn't so much her clothes, as the fact that the RNC paid for them. However much the other candidates are spending on clothes, they are purchasing their own things. Second, do you honestly think they intended to give original Versace jackets to CHARITY before they had their hands caught in the kitty? Third, the candidate McCain in a law he helped write and co-sponsored, specifically said that campaign spending should not go to personal items - he then snuck around his own law to do this. Fourht - this woman has run on a back-woods "real person" image. You don't find it slightly hypocritical that she's going out buying all these fancy clothes? That is why this is a story. Hypocracy always makes for good stories. Not to mention McCain violating the spirit of his OWN law.

150,000 is 3 years of my salary. This is a woman who will never be able to connect with myself or any other blue collar working citizen. If she really lives a frugal lifestyle and shops at consignments shops, she should have stood up for her beliefs and shopped at lower end stores to buy additional suits. She also should have spent HER OWN MONEY!

  • Posted By: pgadia @ 10/29/2008 5:10:37 AM

Like our mom always says "never spent money that's not yours" we called that a theft... that's what becoming with the democratic party flatform... but we put people in prison if they steal something. I rather work hard but then I'm worry that I will be thenext in line for the democratic controlled goverment to be taxed more cause the rich can hide and run away to other continent but I'm stuck with my fellow middle class which could be the next group of people targeted to be taken their money away.

Oh my you clearly have bought right into the lies that Mc Cain & Palin have been petaling. That is unless you make $250,000 or more. And, if that's the case no wonder you are so out of touch with the majority of this country. Is article just demonstrates the lack of integrity the Republicans have. Mc Cain only started to mention the middle class after he has become disparate. Sarah Palin is one scary, poorly informed, narrow minded, woman. It's extremely insulting to think any Hillary supporter would be pleased with this choice. Hillary is extremely accomplished, very smart and capable unlike Sarah Palin, (and no one had to tell her how to dress). All that being said I am a professional white woman who has supported Obama since day one. He is an extremely smart man, disparately needed after 8 years of the guy all you Republicans said was better than Mc Cain when they were running against each other. So now you are all supporting someone worse than Bush???

Have you ever thought about spending money that is not yours, that is stealing and people are put in jail for that... worst case for you Mr. Obama will not be able to get money from the rich because they knows all the legal ways to hide their money... but you must hold tight on your wallet cause your next in line. A theft will never be friend with a fellow theft. pgadia

How will Fox News have reacted if the Dems have spent 150,000 dollars to "prepare Michelle Obama for the ampaign"? Hell would have let loose. And you bet, McCain would have been using it as an attack advert to underscore Obama's 'elitism' or 'affluence'.

Well, at least, we now know who is going to be prudent with spending our money.

Is Out of the Closet in Anchorage the same as Out of the Closet in Los Angeles. In LA, we have several "consignment" stores called Out of the Closet. They are run by gays, and the proceeds go to help AIDS victims. What will Palin's core constituency do if they find out that she patronizes a "gay" consignment store??? .( Or at least a consignment store that has the same name as gay second hand store? )

That is the problem ,you guys still with Palin get it over try to concentrate your brain on who will be our next president put your self's together this is not another joke, this is real very important to all of us people is getting poor, loosing their house car and family's going back with relatives because they feel is no point to keep together after loss everything, this is not another super bowl, from who's fovorite should win.
stop your unhappiness for another time tell me something I don't know I don't want to see same story you know from another person and use it to make your argument that can make you feel better ?......

......................................Palin is in her last week as "America's Cindarella". She will not need all of the thousands of dollars the Republican Party bought for her when she returns to just being the Governor of Alaska. Palin has so much Bad Press and Controversy that this is her LAST shot at National Prominence, she will not be in the picture in 2012 because he is from a State with few Electoral Votes and her Cuteness will be old and not as electric when she hits 48 years old, four years from now. Palin has had her "night on the town" and missed her chance for the limelight.................over the hill and just a point in history!!!!!

Wow, i agree with cindylou352. The LIBERAL media laugh's off a slip of the tongue from the democratic campaign but the republican campaign gets reemed for any slight slip of the tongue. AND talk about sweeping things under the rug. Do we realize that IF Obama get's elected we will have the FIRST SOCIALIST President?!?!?! Socialism, last I checked, was a Marxist philosophy and a tenant of COMUNISM!?!?!? Can we REALLY sweep that under the RUG?!!?? This country, still the greatest on the planet, has fought too hard to rid other countries of communism/socialism. Barak Obama IS a Socialist. Socialism IS communism with half the violence and 1/3 of the repression. Socialism/communism is a philosophy of the lazy. To "spread the wealth," with the exception of lottery winners and pro athletes, is to take from those who have worked to start a business and be successful and give it to those UNWILLING to WORK for themselves. By electing this SOCIALIST we are saying that the American dream is untrue, that it is no longer come to this GREAT land and make something of yourself, BECASUE with Socialist Obama as President he "says" he's going to take it and "spread it around." That is not the America I know or WANT.
Surprise Surprise, I am NOT a republican but the way the media is portraying this race there is only one candidate, only one choice. The way the media brags about being an unbiased reporting entity has been made laughable by their one sided promotion of Barak Obama.
If we are voting the American way, we CANNOT, in good conscience, vote Obama in '08. He is an American but I do NOT believe he has the best intrests of America in mind.

Please don't believe the lies put out by McCain and Palin. No one is going to take your money and give it to people who don't want to work. The working man will benefit from an Obama Administration. Under McCain the rich will get richer and we will be stuck in the downward spiral we are in now. Look where republican ideology has gotten us over the last 8 years. No regulation of the stock market, letting big companies profit fro the rock bottom dollar and screw the rest of us. McCain's labelling of Obama is a hoax. Obama seeks to reward companies providing jobs here is America, he will help create jobs, improve eduation and help foster alternative energy industrieds which will profit all of us and our childre. Don't be taken in by fearmongering, inaccurate labels which do not reflect reality.

After 9/11, the US government started rounding up Muslims without cause and without due process of law, like we did to the Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 TRILLION of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

And they want me to believe that Obama is a socialist. Right.

In case you think McCain is any different than Bush, watch this:

Mcshame and company are accusing Senator Obama of being a socialist, a redistributor, a marcist and ad infinitum as it relates to his economic plan. They veilly state he wants to spread the wealth around. His very own RNC operatives committed the identical act by "SPREADING $150K OF AMERICAN HARD EARNED DOLLARS AROUND IN MN AND NYC FOR CLOTHES, MAKEUP, LABOR AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE. FORGET THE LIES IT WAS ORINALLY PAID FOR USING A SUPPORTER'S CRDIT CARD. IN THE END IT WAS REPAID THE CARD OWNER BY THE "RNC". And exactly WHERE DOES THE RNC GET ITS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM? I have to believe from AMERICAN TAXPAYERS AND WORKERS!

Palin ( moose momma) lays claim to be frugal. OK, then answer this miss thrifthy one, IF YOUR SISTER WANTED TO JUMP OFF THE OBSERVATION TOWER ON THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING IN NYC, WOULD YOU JOIN HER? If then you are as "FRUGAL" AS YOU ALLUDE TO BEING why did you elect to wear those "EXPENSIVE" CLOTHES? Why was it necessary for you husband, kids, etc, to be dressed in such expensive attire? Last I observed, NONE OF THEM WERE ASPIRING TO THE Vice-Presidency of the US. Could it be you subscribe to the adage, "MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO"? Wasn't it a member of your own party who declared years ago, "YOU CAN FOOL SOME OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU CAN'T FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME"? Nice try, MOOSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.

And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your priorities.

You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

Obama is not a socialist. This is a lie. You look like an idiot when you keep repeating it.

The problem with the expensive clothes is the hypocrisy. I realize Palin did not select these clothes, but she had to have a clue regarding their cost. She should have said, I need new clothes, but not a $2500 jacket that I will wear once. You can't be a reformer with that kind of waste.

One more thing. Who do you think is responsible for the bank failures and the economy? Do some research and you will find that it is the Democrats. Who has been in control of the congress???

      • Posted By: Yuseff @ 10/27/2008 12:49:48 PM

Republicans have been in control of Congress since 1995. The Democrats just regained control of Congress in late 2006. Even then every attempt they have been made to improve things has been vetoed by Bush or filibustered in the Senate by Republicans. The Democrats have run nothing. This mess is the Republican's baby.

Obama and ACORN - "strong-armed" banks to make loans to high risk families in order to promote affirmative action which is what started the sup-prime mortgage mess but he has never owned up to this - yet he "points the finger" at the REPUBLICANS for the current economic mess. He is a class A HYPOCRITE, along with the DNC machine, MSM and the Obamabots.

Wrong answer. Our current economic crisis is the result of overspending, overborrowing, expensive entanglements with our military and leaders without the balls to say to the people "We are spending out of our means and we have no way to pay for it."

There is plenty of blame to go around on that one. The current administration, along with the Congress has spent our children's future into oblivion. If I wasn't a realist, I may wonder if this bankrupcy wasn't intentional, seeing as McCain has "supported George Bush 90% of the time, more than members of my own party." And Palin pals around with "Alaska Independence" successionists who'd like to start a petro-state in Alaska. The plain truth that does not resonate through all this noise is this: If you are middle class, you will foot the bill for our leaders' failures. Period.

        It's time for a change.
