    Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005),
What does redistributive mean. Well, remember that it was the liberal Left-Wing Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court that brought us this little jewel, holding that the government could take your real property, like your home, not for public use like a road or school, but to give to another private individual, such as a political contributor or other party hack or interest group.
Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005), was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case arose from the condemnation by New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property so that it could be used as part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan. The Court held in a 5-4 decision that the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the majority opinion; he was joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer
The decision was widely criticized by American politicians and the general public. Many members of the general public viewed the outcome as a gross violation of property rights and as a misinterpretation of the Fifth Amendment, the consequence of which would be to benefit large corporations at the expense of individual homeowners and local communities. Some in the legal profession construe the public's outrage as being directed not at the interpretation of legal principles involved in the case, but at the broad moral principles of the general outcome.

Study finds Media has Betray Trust of American People
    Newsweek Article:
Study: Media coverage has favored Obama campaign
Study finds comments on evening newscasts over the past two months favored the Obama campaign

"For whatever reason, the media are portraying Barack Obama as a better choice for president than John McCain," said Robert Lichter, a George Mason University professor and head of the center. "If you watch the evening news, you'd think you should vote for Obama."

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/165218

"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."

The Obama campaign has told three reporters they have to drop off the campaign plane this weekend. All three work for papers that endorsed Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.: the New York Post, the Washington Times, and the Dallas Morning News.

Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported .
"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

"...or will they deliver an electoral drubbing so thorough that it signals the utter rejection of conservative ideology and kills the notion that America is a "center-right" country"

Oh pahleease! This elections is a result of a rotten economy caused by Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi and Chris Dodd. The country is still center-right. We will endure Jimmy Carter v.2 for 4 years and after he has run our Country into the ground we will remember why the left should not be in power.

One has to ask, if you are driving down a road headed in the wrong direction and discover, after you have driven 20 miles, what should you do?

The answer, of course, is you stop, turn around and, go back to that place where you first took a wrong turn and make sure you get on the right road.

The American people are facing such a choice on Election Day. To elect Obama and send super majorities into the House and Senate, would take our great country further down the road to Socialism. What is Socialism? It's a system by which people are provided for based on the GOVERNMENT's determination of need. It is also a gateway system of government whose logical conclusion is Communism. Every American should be terrified of the prospect of losing their individual liberties if either of these systems is allowed to become our system of government. We have already traveled far down this road in the wrong direction; it is time to admit we have made a mistake.

Individuals should be rewarded for hard work, industriousness and their own determination and should be able to reap the benefits of their own efforts. Should we give a hand up to those truly in need and help others during times of trouble? Absolutely. But it should be a temporary thing and it should be done on a community by community basis, not as mandated by an over-reaching Federal bureaucracy. I believe that helping another person to get ahead is very different from giving them a lifetime of handouts.

Socialism and Communism are failed experiments and have no place in the great national narrative which defines the USA. I urge all conscientious and thoughtful voters out there to find out what Obama???s true beliefs are. Research his ties to Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis and his other questionable alliances. Listen to his own words ??? not those on the campaign trail but his historical comments ??? as to what his vision for America might be. Question his support of and work with Acorn and as a community organizer. Find out about the New Party and his association with them. Look at his voting record in Illinois and as a Senator. Ask yourself this question: do you trust Barack Obama to protect your individual freedoms and to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States of America?

    I for one, do not.

Yes, I do. Just as much as I trust John McCain. Sorry to break it to you, your premise is highly flawed and based on myths. May you enjoy Nov. 4. I know I will, regardless.

There is a spirit of violence sweeping across this country. It is time to rebuke that spirit in the name of Jesus Christ. As a believer in Jesus Christ I claim his authority to bind any spirit which wants to see destruction of any kind. We who believe must trust that faith, hope, and love will be made visible to all.

    Short Story Explaining Economics
    David R. Kamerschen, PhD

"It's just a tax cut for the rich!"

But what does that really mean?

Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner and the bill for all ten comes to $100.

If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
    The fifth would pay $1.
    The sixth would pay $3.
    The seventh would pay $7.
    The eighth would pay $12.
    The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until on day, the owner threw them a curve.

"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20."Dinner for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to eat their meal.

So, the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

    And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20,"declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!"

"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

This story doesn't strike me as particularly scientific, nor does it mention how each man came to have the income level he did. It fails to look at the situation from any kind of a macroeconomic view.

Whatever tax rates have been, there has been a massive net transfer of wealth to the already wealthy over the last eight years, which has eroded our consumer base and hurt American retail and the auto industry tremendously. Modern First-World economies are BASED on the financial health and presence of a robust middle class. If we don't find a way to restore some of their prosperity, we're not going to be doing well, period. To put it bluntly, you can put some suits on these numbers and make them dance and beat each other up and assign emotional anthropomorphic characteristics to them that they don't really have, all you want to. It's not an adequate view of the situation. I believe you cannot see the forest for the trees here.

Of course, many of the wealthy *are* skipping down with their bank accounts like your rich man who didn't come back, by placing assets that they made in American businesses, driven by American middle-class spending, into offshore accounts and tax dodges. They don't care about caring about transferring a lot of wealth out of the same country that they urge people to "Buy American!" in. This is despite the fact that they and their businesses benefit massively from infrastructure spending.

Your anecdote makes the implication that everyone who isn't among the richest bracket might turn to a criminal and attack that person. It's ugly, and biased. I don't have trust in it.

      • Posted By: Chabb @ 10/27/2008 11:14:28 PM

I thought it was an excellent example. MESSING WITH THE TAX CODE WILL NOT AFFECT INEQUALITY, period, if the top 20% already pay around 60% of the share. So the solution would be leaving the tax code intact, but enforcing penalties for off shoring or any type of tax shelter. Don't call something "ugly" and "biased" because you are blind sighted. Frankly, you are right about the tax shelter and he is right about the futility of "spreading the wealth." Just enforce the law!

Now there is proof. In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" Obama let it slip that he really is as radical as his early political mentors, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Now, an interview with Obama in 2001, mysteriously overlooked all this time by the main media outlets, proves this fact. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iivL4c_3pck

Obama's redistribution and restitution plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

Indeed, some democrats are publically saying as much. See Barney Franks comments on the news, including face the nation last week, stating essentially that Democrats in Congress intend to greatly raise taxes and go on a spending spree.

In this video, Obama, who claims he has "no ties with Acorn" notwithstanding the $800,000 paid to an Acorn group during the primaries, is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other Community Activist's organizations. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President and pledge to meet with leaders of Acorn and the others in his first year, Obama says, quote:

"Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda."

See and hear it for yourself. Obama promised that Acorn and a couple of other groups like it will setting his agenda if elected even before he is inaugurated:

I can't claim credit for writing this, but it is too good not to pass on. Enjoy.

    "Dear Red States:

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom. We get Harvard. You get Ole' Miss. We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama. We get two-thirds of the tax revenue, you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms. Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq, and hope that the WMDs turn up, but we're not willing to spend our resources in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, more than 90 percent of the pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT. With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia. We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

Finally, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.

    Peace out,

    Blue States"

The democrats need the GOP and can't exist in their current form without them. Their identity consists largely of being 'not GOP'. When they win supermajorities in congress and the presidency, they will be responsible for everything. GOP- or Bush-based excuses won't get much traction after the honeymoon. They will have to deliver and all eyes will be on them. It will be interesting to watch.

If Obama and the Dems triumph on Nov 04, then the Republicans will sweep in the mid-term. Obama will not win in a rout. This election is a fluke. The nation is still center-right but rudderless at the present time. If he does win as polls project it should put an end to both McCain & Palin, not such a bad thing anyway.

The interim between the election and the inauguration will not be a happy time. The stock market will tank with Obama in the White House and Dems in control of the federal government. Obama will be a one term president. Two years of Obama-Pelosi will bring America to her senses!
