This is part of an organized effort to convince McCain supporters that he cannot win the election. Get out and vote - that is the only way to make sure that socialism doesn't come to America!

See Barney Franks comments on the news, including face the nation last week, stating that Democrats in Congress intend to greatly raise taxes and go on a spending spree.

And again what was Frank saying at roughly the time McCains attempt at S.190. to fix Fannie and Freddie.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs

"These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis, the more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

So who really is the liar that soaked the American people?

In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" we found out that Obama really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

Their failed policies are what brought us to ruin. Even Bill Clinton says so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsynspIqAoE
Obama and a supermajority of Democrats simply is not the change we need, nor is it change we can afford.

Obama's programs require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

Actually, both candidates have avoided our massive debt. I would love to figure out how all the proposals will get done in the end - since current data predicts a tight Obama win.

The top 20% of our earners pay around 60% of the Federal income tax share while many lower income earnes oay none at allearners pay none at all. There is great relative inequality compared to other wealthy nations. So messing with the tax code is useless if you really want equality of result.

The Democrats do share a lot of the blame for the current financial crisis, true. But the Republicans were lax on regulations (that are already on the books - like stopping naked "shorting").

The bible is a cute story, nothing more. It has no place in politics or anywhere there are thinking rational people attempting to decide important issues, keep it in the nightstand where it belongs.

NO on California Proposition 8! Prevent unconstitutional discrimination!!!!

    • Posted By: billysid57 @ 10/27/2008 1:04:45 AM

There is no discrimination. In the great state of California, same sex couples already are afforded every legal benefit that married couples are. This is about redefining an institution that has been around for over 5000 years. What gives you the right to do that? Call it something else, but it's not marriage - never will be for the next 5000 years and beyond. Got it?

      • Posted By: nikiwise @ 10/27/2008 6:52:35 AM

I find it to be beyond rediculous that your argument is that you don't have the right to change or redefine something that has been around for so long....HELLO! WAKE UP! That's exactly that doctrine was comprised. Because people sat around and decided what was ok to keep in and what they should take out. Look up the history of the bible or any of the hundreds of chapters that were taken out because the handful of elete who were given the power to redefine what the public was given as truth. The only person who knows was was really put into the original doctrine also gave us the ability to think for ourselves. Through that free thinking ability we changed our version of the doctrine many times depending on your religion and are now today doing the exact same thing in a new fashion saying this doesn't work for us anymore, things have to change!

        • Posted By: Chabb @ 10/27/2008 7:49:58 AM

What's up with you people and telling everyone who disagrees with you to "wake up?" Your argument about "elites" deciding what went into the Bible is ironic. "Joe" the voter is going to decide a "word" definition now, and it will be imprinted in the California constitution. Unless, of course, the measure doesn't pass.

  • Posted By: floridacadman @ 10/27/2008 6:52:17 AM

Thankfully, this will be a landslide. Itll be a nice trend to actually have someone who cares about the people of this country instead of making the top 1% just a little richer. Screw these Washington old-timers that think their rein will never end. McCain...your Mc-done!

An enlarged Democratic party is a wolf in sheep's clothing for the "Progressive" Democrats. You think NY Dems act like Montana, or even Iowa Dems, for example? You self righteous "progressives" call these people DINOS. I don't argue that the Republican party didn't implode, but don't think that the majority of the people are "going for" Obama, they are punishing the Republicans. I give you points for censoring yourself for Newsweek.

Yes, you might be right, But then again, maybe New York, California and other more liberal areas of the country may go big for Obama and the center will in the end, vote for McCain. Do not be suprised if Obama wins the popular vote by 5% but loses the electoral college. Its sorta like the eastern establishmemt thinking that the Yankees and Red Sox are the only teams in baseball, but then waking up to see that neither is in the World Series. This may actually happen in the election!

Where will you be on election night? Will Obama's thugs and the threat of riots affect your decision?
Posted by TOTA on Sunday, October 26, 2008 10:50:46 PM
Last week we were introduced to the fact that Obama's thugs are turning America into a banana republic - they are intent on silencing their critics.
A Florida TV station has been 'cut off' from the Obama campaign because a courageous news-reader read some tough questions to Biden, and didn't back down when he lied in response to every question. How dare she question The Overlord through one of his stooges? Where are her kneepads?
Do you see the outrage with which some criticisms of The Overlord are met? This is the mark of a totalitarian mindset. Think of how Bush has been abused for years, and has borne it with dignity. Not The Overlord. He's sacred - to think otherwise is naked racism.
Already, almost every criticism of The Overlord is met with the response, "racist", and he has yet to assume power over us. His thugs gleefully damage private property to silence critics (think about your car and your willingness to display a McCain/Palin bumper sticker. I would bet it depends a lot on where you live). Several hundred thousand Obama supporters are gathering for a 'victory' party in Chicago. If victory is not at hand, will they quietly go to bed? Not likely - the AP reports that police departments across the country are bracing for riots. Chicago is a hotbed of radicalism. Get ready for some grim times - even if they win, we may see riots. The Overlord is a thug, and he's awoken the rest of the thugs. 'Pretty words' may spill from his mouth, but some of the effluence of a sewer pipe smells sweet.

From this election forward, America will be held hostage by Obama's thugs in every election in which he plays a part. He may even be able to gin up his thugs enough to riot even when he's not involved. The Overlord is the most radical, dangerous, and divisive person ever to reach the national stage.
If Obama were anywhere near the center of the political spectrum, the election would have been over long ago. Instead, he shows every sign of being a marxist, so he repels tens of millions of tradition-minded Americans. He wants to turn the society inside out, so the reacion is visceral. But hate his ideas as we may, we still respect democracy. We're not going to be rioting on election night. We're going to be in our homes ready to protect our families, if necessary, from Obama's thugs.

Think about it: Obama's brownshirts are going to restrict the freedom of movement of millions of Americans on election day. Never before have they had to worry about where they are going to be that night. No longer. Welcome to Obama's America.

It's pretty common knowledge that the Daily Kos is a major liberal website and a nexus of Democratic blogging. Newsweek doesn't really mention this here, but it has in a bunch of other articles. I doubt anyone is really thinking the Daily Kos is a moderate voice of opinion here.

        • Posted By: bmarshall1st @ 10/26/2008 3:53:32 PM

The news person in question was not asking tough questions. She was using her interview with Biden as an opportunity to spew right wing talking points that were so rediculous that they did not deserve an answer. Except for actually laughing out loud a couple of times, Biden was respectful to her lunacy. There is absolutely no reason for the Obama campaign to waste their time with the wife of a republican operative who is more interested in putting forth wingnuttery than cunducting an honest interview.

Markos (Daily Kos) is writing an opinion piece, just like the many articles that Karl Rove writes trashing Obama. Do you complain when Newsweek publishes Rove's anti-Obama articles? Didn't think so.

      • Posted By: TheVigil @ 10/26/2008 10:47:46 PM

Rove hasn't published any anti-Obama pieces I'm aware of. Like the political bootlick he is, he appears to be "switching sides" by writing for Newsweek in a liberal-ish tone and trying to build some sort of credibility. I have noted that a lot of Newsweek readers have indicated on his comments threads that they would like nothing so much as to see him ejected in a fiery blaze from the magazine.

I sure hope they can bring down Chambliss in Georgia and of course will be voting toward making that happen. His campaign really was a low point in Rovian politics. I will also be voting against my House member, who's a medical doctor without any useful proposals on health care. Just more band-aids to protect profits of pharmaceuticals and insurance companies. (A good test on those, BTW, is to ask if anyone with a pre-existing condition or affordability problems in addition to access problems would be helped. No tax credit is going to do anything for you if you get rejected on pre-existing conditions). My Congressman also made a show of voting against the bailout, even with no real counterproposals of his own. Georgia is one of the worst states in the country on gerrymandered districts, which is why it has sent the likes of Cynthia McKinney, Bob Barr and Newt Gingrich to Congress. Districts are drawn to protect incumbents and you get people who are way over to the left or the right.

    The Kennedy tax cut.

    http://www.heritage.org/Research/Taxes/bg1765.cfm

About half way through the article.

"President Kennedy proposed massive tax-rate reductions, which were passed by Congress and became law after he was assassinated. The 1964 tax cut reduced the top marginal personal income tax rate from 91 percent to 70 percent by 1965. The cut reduced lower-bracket rates as well. In the four years prior to the 1965 tax-rate cuts, federal government income tax revenue--adjusted for inflation--increased at an average annual rate of 2.1 percent, while total government income tax revenue (federal plus state and local) increased by 2.6 percent per year . In the four years following the tax cut, federal government income tax revenue increased by 8.6 percent annually and total government income tax revenue increased by 9.0 percent annually. Government income tax revenue not only increased in the years following the tax cut, it increased at a much faster rate.
The Kennedy tax cut set the example that President Ronald Reagan would follow some 17 years later. By increasing incentives to work, produce, and invest, real GDP growth increased in the years following the tax cuts: More people worked, and the tax base expanded. Additionally, the expenditure side of the budget benefited as well because the unemployment rate was significantly reduced.
Using the Congressional Budget Office's revenue forecasts (made with the full knowledge of the future tax cuts), revenues came in much higher than had been anticipated, even after the "cost""of the tax cut had been taken into account. Additionally, in 1965--one year following the tax cut--personal income tax revenue data exceeded expectations by the greatest amounts in the highest income classes.
Testifying before Congress in 1977, Walter Heller, President Kenned''s Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, summarized:
What happened to the tax cut in 1965 is difficult to pin down, but insofar as we are able to isolate it, it did seem to have a tremendously stimulative effect, a multiplied effect on the economy. It was the major factor that led to our running a $3 billion surplus by the middle of 1965 before escalation in Vietnam struck us. It was a $12 billion tax cut, which would be about $33 or $34 billion in today's terms, and within one year the revenues into the Federal Treasury were already above what they had been before the tax cut.
Did the tax cut pay for itself in increased revenues? I think the evidence is very strong that it did."

This is real simple economics. How many full-time employees with benefits does a person with a $50,000 income personally employ? For most, none. How many does a person with $250,000 employ? One less under Obama's tax plan, two less if you include Obam's health plan.

    Do NOT forget:

The republicans DOUBLED the National Debt in the last eight years. That is a $5,000,000,000,000.00 increase.

There is where the spenders are.

Remember, in 1992 the republicans were saying the same thing about Clintons policies as they are about Obamas now.

And Clintons policies created the best economy of the last 50 years, CUT the National Debt and handed Bush a SURPLUS.

Also, Obama has stated any new spending will be paid for with cuts.

The republicans are in full fear mode now and do NOT want you to think about this.
