I'm surprised McCain would want to talk about such an over-exposed, small-potatoes association now that McCain's secret meeting with Pinochet has come to light. McCain found the ruthless dictator "warm and friendly." Not only did they meet without preconditions during Pinochet's reign of terror, but there's no record of McCain suggesting that Pinochet might want to consider cleaning up his act.

When a person has to distort the truth to have an advantage you know that they are desperate. Obama has lost the faith of the American people, he needs toi step aside and let McCain, a tried and true American take the lead. The American people are so mislead by Obama that Catholic sworn to oppose Abortion are casting their vote to a very "Pro-Choice" politician. Go figure????

So are you against Obama or just Catholics in general? Be careful, your white sheet is showing. If McCain would have attempted to address the issues, he may have a chance in this election. However. his campaign chose to attack his opponent with lies an innuendo. Much the same way that the Republicans helped get that moron George Bush elected for two terms. Those old tactics may not work this election.

This is real simple economics. How many full-time employees with benefits does a person with a $50,000 income personally employ? For most, none. How many does a person with $250,000 employ? One less under Obama's tax plan, two less if you include Obam's health plan.

Senator McCain served on the advisory board to the U.S. Council for World Freedom, a group which aided rebels trying to overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua. As far as he knew, the purpose of that group was to battle communism in Central America. McCain had just been elected to the House of Rep in 1982. He was not an active member of the group. He resigned from the group in 1984 when he became aware of questions about it's activities. That is very different from launching his political career in the lving room of a man who is a domestic terrorist, married to another domestic terrorist, with no regrets about his activities.

And what about McCain's Nazi and Latin death swad ties. Do a search, its well documented (its on foxnews.com also).
the U.S. Council for World Freedom

McCain has these ties. However, Obama has not exploited them because supposedly McCain has changed. That is integrity from Obama. McCain has no integrity.

Hubert Hoover our 31st President, was in office between 1929 and 1933. Like Senator Obama he was a progressive reformer and a humanitarian. He also promoted government intervention to combat the economic meltdown of his time. He raised the income tax on the highest incomes from 25% to 63%. Corporate taxes were raised. The economy spiraled into a deeper depression as a result of those policies. Franklin D Roosevelt accused Hoover of taxing too much, increasing national debt and blocking trade. Roosevelt's running mate, John Nance Garner stated that President Hoover was "leading the country down the path of socilaism". Unemployment rose to 24% during Hoover's Presidency. Does some of this sound familiar? I hope we are not doomed to repeat the same mistakes.

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

"Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported. In a communication which serves to put all other media on notice that an Obama administration will exercise media blackmail in response to tough questioning, the Obama camp killed a WFTV interview with Biden's wife Jill, according to an Orlando Sentinel blog.

"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

Aquiles Suarez, listed as an economic adviser to the McCain campaign in a July 2007 McCain press release, was formerly the director of government and industry relations for Fannie Mae. The Senate Lobbying Database says Suarez oversaw the lending giant's $47,510,000 lobbying campaign from 2003 to 2006.
And other current McCain campaign staffers were the lobbyists receiving shares of that money. According to the Senate Lobbying Database, the lobbying firm of Charlie Black, one of McCain's top aides, made at least $820,000 working for Freddie Mac from 1999 to 2004. The McCain campaign's vice-chair Wayne Berman and its congressional liaison John Green made $1.14 million working on behalf of Fannie Mae for lobbying firm Ogilvy Government Relations. Green made an additional $180,000 from Freddie Mac. Arther B. Culvahouse Jr., the VP vetter who helped John McCain select Sarah Palin, earned $80,000 from Fannie Mae in 2003 and 2004, while working for lobbying and law firm O'Melveny & Myers LLP. In addition, Politico reports that at least 20 McCain fundraisers have lobbied for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, pocketing at least $12.3 million over the last nine years.
For years McCain campaign manager Rick Davis was head of the Homeownership Alliance, a lobbying association that included Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, real estate agents, homebuilders, and non-profits. According to Politico, the organization opposed congressional attempts at regulation of Fannie and Freddie, along the lines of what John McCain is currently proposing. In his capacity of president of the group, Davis went on record in 2003 and insisted that no further reform of the lenders was necessary, in contradiction to his current boss's sentiments. '[Fannie and Freddie] are subject to an innovative and stringent risk-based capital stress test,' Davis wrote. 'The toughest in the financial services industry.'

There hasn't been a Democrat majority in Washington since 1965, and before that, 1933. It looks like we are about to see another such event take place. By November 5, 2008 both houses of Congress and the Presidency will be in Democratic hands.

For those readers who can think for themselves, think back to 1965. Kennedy and the Civil Rights movement. A pivotal time in our history, one we can all be proud of. And 1933, when FDR gave us the New Deal and turned around the Great Depression. If you think about the past century, the only two times that we have had a liberal Democrat majority, America got STRONGER and BETTER.

GOP: We federalized credit. Nationalized the banks. Grew the National Debt and the size of government to their biggest size ever. Now emagine what that Socialist Obama will do!!

The links below to legitimate news sources that show that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions of dollars while the Rs were in control of the executive and legislative branches, lobbying Rs only, to prevent regulation of the financial practices that caused the global financial crisis.

One of the biggest recipients of those millions is Rick Davis, McC's campaign manager, who has been recieving up to $35k/mo. since '00 right up to the present. Freddie continued to pay Davis while Davis managed McC's campaign.

And Freddie donated $250k to the R convention.

These facts are everywhere in the legitimate news. You can start at http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/us/politics/22mccain.html and http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732/page/1 There's much more legitimate news on this.

But the Rs still try to deceive us that it was the Dems' fault, and that we must fear "that one".

I was a solid McC supporter and voter until I found out about who paid whom millions to be allowed to loot trillions from our economy, and until I realized how McC sold out to the the most extensive and virulent propaganda machine I have ever seen.

First, wait until you see the policies put forth if Obama wins. It will be worse than the Carter years, who continures to be an anti-semite. Obama, the messiah will "change" this country, but you will be sorry for the change. Especially when he reduces the military budget and we cannot protect the country. And we all know that all you have to do is "talk" to the terrorists. They will listen. They will say, "Okay America, lets all get along. "We no longer want to kill all of you, now we are friends".
Also, Sarah Palin is smart and successful and certainly has more experience than Obama. Obama's greatest skill is using language to fool all of you. And it is time to get off the Palin clothing complaints. You don't think she needed to represent herself well and professionally? If she had not dress well, there would have been a "field day" talking about her lack of taste in clothing. There is nothing she can do to please the democrates, because for some reason you are blinded by the "Messiah." I too am a democrate, I see beyond the democratic blitz in the media, the Nancy Pelosi disaster, and and the lies and cheating of Obama to win the presidency. It is a disgrace to this country. The media has also played a disgraceful role in this election. The media has forgotten that they are not supposed to be partial. What happened to both sides, told truthfully? Further, McCain's health and economic plans are much stronger. But most people just listen to the media.... and they therefore support Obama. Oh well, hopefully Obama will not win.

That's right on debralg! A rabbit might as well try to reason with a coyote. It would make as much sense as trying to reason with Islamic extremists whose only goal is to convert the whole world to their way of thinking. If you think that is not true, or that you can change their views with reason you are a fool! The media has been disgraceful in their desire to elect Obama because he represents change, and because he would be our first black President. It would be great to have a black President who takes our country in the right direction. Obama's liberal associations and liberal voting record indicates that the change we may see, may not be what the majority of our country wants. Our medica is doing us a great disservice in giving Obama a free pass, and not covering the issues and concerns in depth. Gov. Palin's clothing is not what we need to hear about!

        • Posted By: bwlear @ 10/26/2008 12:29:54 PM

Kind of like trying to convince a Republican that their party is responsible for the last 8 years or that Mr Bush is the standard barer for their party. What free pass has ever been given to Sen Obama? Are you the first person to ask about Ayers, Wright, or Rezco? Did that information fall from the sky or do you have an inside source that makes you privy to things we mere mortals cant learn? Sen Obama has been the most scrutinized man in America for the last 2 years and your angry because none of your smear tactics have worked. The media has questioned and attacked his wife, his mother, his father, his patriotism, his citizenship, and almost every person whom has ever had a connection to anything he has done. You only blame the media when it exposes your partys dirty laundry. Why dont you try this, close your eyes and listen to the people on the religious right. Then imagine (I know its hard for people like you to do) that they were speaking Arabic but saying the same things.
Blame the media all you want. The proplem with the Republican party is not because CNN wont ask Mr Obama about Bill Ayers, its because you have sold your soul to big business and religious nuts. The thing you hate about Sen Obama is that he told you the truth, you do cling to guns and religion. You try to divide and conquer with no regard to facts or reason. You cast so many stones yet act suprised when you go home to your own glass house.
And just for the record, being black in America has NEVER been an advantage? Remember that the next time you are pulled over by the police for any type of infraction, falsely accused of attacking a poll worker for a bumper sticker, or accused of causing the subprime morgage meltdown.
America has moved on and you better get used to it. Your partys "holier then thou" facade has been exposed for what it is, another lie. Take this time to reflect on where the Republican party is headed and watch what happens when a REAL leader of men takes over the White House.

In some ways, Palin is the perfect running mate. Because she has no ethical boundaries, she will do ANYTHING that the RNC strategists ask of her.

"Sarah, we need you to accuse Obama of being a foreign-born, christian-hating, terrorist sympathizer. Will do you this?" "You betcha!"

"Sarah, we need you to convince America that they should be afraid of a black man living in the White House. Can we count on you to sell this message?" "You're darn right you can!"

    • Posted By: freerunning @ 10/26/2008 12:53:54 AM

Please explain your reasons for thinking she is not smart enough for a position at this level. I hope it has nothing to do with her form of speech, being from Alaska, being a former beauty contestent, or having a Down's Syndrome child. None of these things indicate level of intelligence.

      • Posted By: firetheprincipal @ 10/26/2008 2:50:47 AM

(CNN) -- Vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin likes to portray herself as an average American working mother.
But how many typical moms get $150,000 worth of merchandise from stylish stores and have strangers pay for it?

This week's revelation about the purchases was just one more surprise in the fast rise and apparent fall of the Republican Party's sudden superstar.

Remember, it was only two months ago that Palin was just the popular governor of Alaska, still an obscure figure in American politics. That changed in late August when John McCain chose her as his running mate.

Within days, she was generating the biggest excitement the McCain campaign had ever enjoyed, captivating the Republican Party, swelling the crowds at its rallies and drawing media coverage that overshadowed the Democrats.

One McCain advisor told me then that one of the practical problems she discovered as she criss-crossed the country was that she didn't bring enough clothes.

It seems her family didn't have enough clothes either, because suddenly there was some serious shopping.

A single visit to the fashionable department store Neiman Marcus cost more than $75,000, but that was only half of the total. The bills ultimately went to the Republican Party, which means that although they probably didn't know it, party donors paid for them.

Palin's problems go beyond clothes, though, to her very candidacy. In recent days, prominent Republicans, from former Secretary of State Colin Powell to Reagan speechwriter Peggy Noonan, have publicly criticized her lack of experience.

Ordinary Americans agree. An NBC/Wall Street Journal poll found that in early September, when Palin was just starting out as a candidate, 47 percent of voters had a positive opinion of her, compared to 27 percent who felt negatively.

Now 47 percent have negative feelings, compared with 38 percent who feel positively.

And the new poll found that concern about Palin's qualifications is voters' top concern about McCain, ahead of every other issue in the election.

Voting day is less than two weeks away and most polls suggest that Barack Obama is headed for victory. The surprise is that Palin went from being McCain's best asset to his biggest problem. And the Republicans don't have much time, or an obvious way, to fix it.

      • Posted By: labman57 @ 10/26/2008 1:21:57 AM

How about not being able to answer simple questions in an interview, such as which newspapers she regularly reads to find out what's happening in the world. Or 5 colleges in 6 years to get a Journalism/Communications degree--not exactly a high-brow major. Or not knowing that fruit fly research is not about fruit flies, but is a fundamental model for studying human genetics. Or not realizing that the VP is NOT in charge of the U.S. Senate, apparently not understanding what the term "presides" means in this context. Or having no clue about the nature of the "Bush Doctrine". Or not even knowing that you cannot see mainland Russia from mainland Alaska, let alone her back yard. Shall I continue?

There are obviously nuts and extremists for any viewpoint. Gov. Palin has compassion, ethics, and the ability to be a great V.P.
This is false. And I should have included wisdom in the list of things in which she is lacking. She is an embarrassment to herself and her nation. Like Bush, she is simply not smart enought to realize that she is not smart enough to be consider for a position at this level..

It is irrational to not question the relationships of a man that has been in the national spotlight for so short a time. Believe it or not, many conservatives would like to see a black man as a President of this country also. Why, some conservatives are even black themselves! What a bombshell! Don't be so blinded by the idea of having a black presidential candidate who represents change, that you don't seriously enough consider what he stands for, or what changes would be made. He is obviously very well spoken, but it takes more than that to take our country in the right direction. Make sure that you focus on the issues, Both men have plans for restoring our nation's standing in the world, dealing with energy issues, and health care issues. Our current man-made economic problems will obviously limit what they can do. Senator Obama is well spoken and well meaning, but I am concerned about his prior associations and voting record that indicates liberal beliefs that do not represent the great majority of this country.

  • Posted By: neos @ 10/26/2008 12:24:49 AM

Palin is a fraud. She is a politician without even a basic knowledge of Civics, a Christian without compassion, and a leader without ethics. And the very people who buy into her simple little miss rural American act are the very same people who bought into the story of the poor little white girl who was attacked (and, gasp, sexually assaulted) by the black Obama supporter. For the sake of you who restrict your contact with the outside world to Rush and Fox news, I must inform you that it was all a terrible hoax. But the rush to judgement was quick and relentless by the hate-mongers whose whole political platform is centered on an irrational fear and hatred of Senator Obama. Gullible and willfully obtuse, they drag the political discourse into the mud. It is encouraging to see that the great majority of decent Americans, Republican, Democratic, and Independent alike are rejecting this assault on America.

  • Posted By: freerunning @ 10/26/2008 12:11:05 AM

After his many years serving in Congress, all you need to have done is follow his congressional record to know who he is. For those who understand the sacrifices he has made for this country, that should also tell you who he is, even if you don't agree with his politics. Obama has served in Congress only a couple of years. It is harder to know what he really stands for. A person's associations can tell you a lot about that person. Obama's associations and Congressional voting record tells us that he has very liberal ideas, perhaps more liberal than the great majority of our country would like. If he becomes our next President with the Democratic majority Congress, we may get more change than most of us have bargained for. By the way, Gov Palin has a very high code of ethics. She has been criticized for the firing of an Alaskan State Trooper who was drunk on the job, had made death threats against her family, and who had used a taser on a young child.
