Why Obama Needs a Tina Fey

I'm sorry, I forgot that the Democrats and Barry are our salvation! How dare any satirize his connections - and very strong ones, witn Rev. Wright, Billy Ayers, George Soros (poor little billionaire), ACORN, etc. No, do not touch God!

My Goodness, I'm sorry, I forgot that Obama and the Democrats are "our salvation". Certainly can't satirize his connections with Rev. Wright, or Bill Ayers, or ACORN, or George Boros. Yes, Barry is our salvation, do not touch him!

The goal of satire beyond the object of the article, is to BE FUNNY. That is where most of the stuff falls flat; it's really just a commentary on the abilities of the writers. The low-hanging fruit of conservative hypocrisy is easy, but there are few brilliant TV writers left on the scene anymore, as witness the dearth of satire on something that requires true thought and skill to pull off. The Democratic Platform and Obama offer salvation, its true, and the opposition is laughable because . let's face it, look at our condition after ten years of republican rule. Our wildest pessimistic imaginatios in 2000 could not have predicted the devastation wrought upon the world and American society that these bumbling idiots have pulled off. Given this backdrop, the relief offered by the Democrats offers little to satirize, because at its base, the collective solutions to this mess offers little to satirize. The only funny thing in all of this is the republican campaign running against itself and asking for four more years to destroy what is still standing.

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

How many full-time employees with benefits does a person with a $50,000 income personally employ? For most, none. How many does a person with $250,000 employ? One less under Obama???s tax plan, two less if you include Obama???s health plan.

I think that there is satire about Obama; however, it just happens that what Palin and McCain does lends itself so perfectly to satire that the material is boundless. Remember that Tina Fey, when she represented Palin in her Couric interview, didn't even have to change some of the actual words that Palin said to show that she really seemed to be a bubble-head. When you have that kind of material coming at you in a wave, it is hard not to grab up a surfboard and ride it.

Obama won and the blacks are ready to take all the white women, GO OBAMA!!!!!!!

Moral of this story, don't offend the self anointed messiah

Obama is a charismatic figure who has risen to the top while maintaining a sense of dignity in the public eye. Why would anyone try to argue for satirizing him? He is not a caricature but a well-rounded figure. His speaking style is inimitable by any measly comedian, that is why they don't bother trying.

From my independent, historically-Democratic perspective, it's unfortunate that Newsweek is so far in the tank for Obama. It seems to have become fashionable among the national print media to abandon even the pretense of impartiality. It's become quite difficult to find news reporting and analysis by individuals who are themselves sufficiently knowledgable to play on a national stage, but are neutral. It's a depressing state of affairs.

I would rather have an administration WITHOUT a lot of jokes for once....8 years is enough of a long winded joke! I don't think Roosevelt or Lincoln would require a lot of jokes.

........................................Tina Fey is a good commedienne and provides some good laughs......But America needs a good chance to fully review the Candidates and to date McCain has constantly changed his positions to suit what his Handlers are telling him to say for that moment to help him look better. Most of the time the McCain Campaign is avoiding the issues by talking about Lipstick, Pigs and Joe the Plumber. Palin avoids unfavorable topics completely and is twisting reality all she can and relying on being Cute to help her gain appeal while she slips and slides with the truth........Their motto Country First does not apply and they way they do their Campaigning...................Country Fooled fits what they really are doing!!!!!

Obama needs a Tina Fey? They had one on SNL that slammed Obama when he was fighting Hillary in the primes. Now that she's out of the way, they only slam Palin and McCain, as Obama is SNL's second choice.

What good is political satire if comedians shy away from the biggest target? It isn't... Because they support Obama, their biggest targets are McCain and Palin.
