        Yea that happened to me too. I was working fine at a company and a recruitter from another comany talked meinto a better job at a Solar company. Great opportunity , right. Three weeks in I was let go because they couldn't afford me. No reprimands, no meetings to say I wasn't doing my job(my boss had already told me i would be promoted in six months), just adios. got paid to the day Iworked, no severance , no help getting another job, no retraining (didn't need it) just don't let the door hit me. Was out of work 3 months, with no medical insurance (Cobra costs were $1150 per month) and $200 a week unemployment that was refused to me. Every lawyer I checked with said it was immoral but not against Arizona law. That's John Mccain's right to work state.

    Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.

    And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your priorities.

    You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

    Here is my taxation plan
    For individuals: get rid of all deductions, get rid of inheritance taxes, have a flat tax system that is progressive that won't require an accountant or lawyer to figure out.
    For companies and soft money. : Tax the heck out of money made on the market, don't tax interest earned on deposits less than $100, 000. Allow only wages and benefits to be deductible for companies and businesses. Apply a relocation tax on Any company that closes a plant in the uSA and moves offshore or contract a third party company to make the same product. All companies that bring products into the US must pay for inspection services from a non-governmental company. What do you think? ? Am I solialist or just tired of giving my hard earned money to the Bush's and MCCain's of the world.

If yhey are leaving the good ole US of A, then you no longer have a taxing authority. The government had better get used to watching business leave.         They don't leave the USA, they just send the jobs overseas. The perfect US corporation now is a CEO and a CFO, and a board of directors made up of other CEOs and CFOs making decisions on the size of their parachutes. While all the production is accomplished by a third party company in china, the design engineering is done by a design company in India and Marketing is done by a company in Germany.. That's the Republican future "my friend"

Reducing the amount of investment in the market only reduces spending elsewhere in our economy, tightens up credit and ultimately (and quickly) hurts the little guys like myself. We cannot improve our lot in this country via taxing more. Cut government -- military spending as well (to counter the liberal's rant forthcoming). When we all are making more dough, the coffers and budgets of our local and federal budgets will be in fine shape.

        There you go again.. Convinced that you will get a piece of the pie when it trickles down. I've been waiting for almost 60 years and the only thing that has trickled down is fewer benefits from companies I work and create wealth for, Smaller jobs for smaller pay, and more years left to work before I can retire. As for being an entrepreneur, how many small business people actually succed while the large corporations reap the major benefits of big business government? The only reason our retirements are in the dumps is because all the companies were allwed to eliminate real retirement plans and substitute them with 401K so that every opne could have a "choice". What choice when th real retirement plans are no longer a choice. And this is what mccain wants to do do with my Social security. Wake up , you've been bamboozled.

      One more thing...pay for inspection services? Who do you think is ultimately going to pay that? I'll give you a hint, better yet I'll just spell it out...Y O U. I don't know why Democrats can't get it through their heads that corporations don't pay taxes. Taxes are considered part of the cost of doing business and that is past on to the consumer until a buyers purchasing power is effected. At which point the business begins to make cuts in jobs, innovation and expansion. All of which will ultimately cost us.

    Just wanted to clear something up about the whole "rich people pay the most taxes, and give the most to charities" thing. Talking to you here, loriw... Yes, statistically the rich pay the most in income tax, but they donate pretax amounts to charities which turns into, tada! you guessed it. A tax break. Working the system, and most middle/lower class don't even know...

    And one more thing: there really is only so much wealth in the world. It is finite, and for each person that snags a huge piece of the pie (usually through unethical means, look at the Kennedys) there are a thousand people that have to go without. Executives pocket millions, while paying hardworking employees meager wages. High taxation for the rich is the fair way to give back to the poor. Without taxation and other measures which hold businesses accountable (having a minimum wage, antitrust law, etc...) the income gap would widen much more quickly than it already is. The more it widens, the worse the lower class has it. By the way, the middle class? Won't exist anymore, friends...

      Where did you learn your economics? Wealth created is wealth distributed... Rich people buy lots of things, spend lots of money. Getting a tax break via charitable giving is good, smart policy for it helps charities, who, in turn, help people of all walks of life and needs. Damming the wealthy is a fool's pastime for it does not put one more dollar in your pocket but eats at your spirit. The red herring arguement over the widening income gap leaves out the basic fact that the entire curve in our modern economy is shifting upwards. The "poor" today have more and have a better opportunity to get more of life's "pie" than ever before...and have for the past 40 years. That's not hype, just fact as compared to the turn of century 1900 America. The poor today are also counted differently than before -- no longer are forms of welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, and Medicare counted as part of their "pie." They should be.
      Lastly, unfairness and inequities of wealth are a fact of life -- one that even the great Obama can't change. The last thing we should want is to encourage further hoarding and hiding of wealth from the "tax man" -- with proven failed notions of "make those bastards pay more" mob mentality.

        Well son, when you make more than you spend, (which isn't a bad thing in and of itself) you aren't exactly distributing wealth. Look it up. Yes, everyone's quality of life is getting better, to a degree... I mean, yeah, the working man has it better than he did... But the rich have very little to do with that. There's a reason the rich and executives hate labor unions son... Just because everyone's life is better thanks to innovations brought on in the twentieth century, it doesn't mean that the distribution of wealth is any better... And to illustrate this, look up how many Americans live below the poverty line. And can't pay for basic necessities. Forget that, didja?

          The "poverty line" that you reference is calculated leaving out all federal and state welfare and transfer payments, including Medicaid, Medicare, foodstamps, disability/SSI, social security, "earned income" tax credits (i.e. checks from US for not making enough income), and all other governmental benefits. This little mathmatical wizzardry was done by the Democrats, so they could keep claiming a greater pool of impoverished to whom they pander to for their vote. We do not need another Johnson-inspired War on Poverty, which only created more of it, and more dependency on government than ever before. Again, taking from your neighbor against his will only further fuels hoarding, hiding, and/or even worse, disinterest in earning more. Did you forget that bit of human nature?

            If all those other "wonderful, life changing-ly great awesome things" are so awesome, then how come people with low income still have it so bad? I know you must not see it, because you probably live in the 'burbs. Now, I live in small town America right now, and I'm not trying to be hypocritical, but seriously, look at it from the point of view of a disabled person living in government housing, or someone who just got foreclosed on because their money doesn't go as far and the "bubble" collapsed. Foreclosure can often mean things like, losing your job, meaning you can't buy a car, basically coming down to trapping you into a situation you can't dig out of. I almost was there myself. I've been very fortunate and escaped foreclosure by landing a longshot promotion... But I'm still paying for my house, even though I had to move. And all these already rich punks got bailed out? Is that fair? Are you that callous?

            Taxing the rich less won't reduce hoarding, it just makes it easier. You think the rich, when taxed less, will just rain money into the streets for suckers like us? Bollocks. And finally, no amount of taxation can make someone disinterested in making more money. Greed, that's human nature. Not disinterest or apathy over one's condition just because the "tax man" is taking another five percent. Get off it, dude.

          One last thought... regarding innovations, please remember that it takes someone with some extra cash at hand to invest into such innovations. And folks don't invest as much if you take away the incentive to make lots of money, given the risk. So, you bet, the standard of living has risen due in large part to many innovations...investments that when successful, likely made a lot of people a lot of money. Damn those rich...they keep outsmarting us!

            Sure. But it's primarily government that comes up with these innovations... From tax dollars. Think about it. The wright bros invented the airplane, but the government made it viable during war time. Computers, the internet, sanitation (bringing that back up) and all these other things that have become yours and my amenities started with GOVERNMENT spending, not from philanthropic rich guys. Even guys like Henry Ford... Think about it. Sure, he really worked out the assembly line concept, which made cars cheaper, but he did it to line his pockets. He's as altruistic and philanthropic as WalMart.

    Folks, I've read this article three times now and cannot understand Datafacts reasoning. The fact remains that Obama/Curbin requested earmark funding for Stateway Project which was awarded to Obama's friend Davis for $20 million. Pointing out that the Chicago Housing Authority was the managing agency and that they engaged in fund manipulation is quite secondary and opens up other questions. Secondly, it remains that Obama wrote a letter requesting funding for a project that Rezko proposed. Tax payers funded the project for $14 million and Rezko netted $855 thousand. This clearly connects Obama to convicted Rezko. Data fact's pointing out that Obama has not been accused of unlawful conduct does not excuse the question of ethics. Thirdly, Obama acquired $100 thousand that was paid to Smith who did not do the project. Smith is unethical and Obama secured funding for him.

    Lastly on the subject of tax and spend policy,whether a bill is enacted or not or other similar acts have been committed does not change the intent or excuse the subject earmarking activity. This entire article is misleading.

    After 9/11, the US government started rounding up Muslims without cause and without due process of law, like we did to the Japanese Americans in WWII. The Bush administration called it's main internment camp Guantanamo Bay. While there are certainly many guilty terrorists held in Guantanamo, there are also many innocent American citizens who have been held illegally for years without even being charged with any crime. They have been tortured by our government. Some of them have died.

    Recently the Supreme Court ruled against the Bush administration in the matter of Guantanamo Bay. The Supreme Court Justices were NOT on the side of the terrorists. They were on the side of the Geneva Convention, that says you can not torture POWs, and on the side of US laws that state you can not imprison a person without charging them with a crime and bringing them to trial. I'm sure that like most Americans, the Justices who voted against the illegal, immoral doings at Guantanamo didn't feel sympathy for the terrorists. They felt sympathy for the laws of AMERICA, the land of the FREE, where even rat finks get a fair trial.

    Meanwhile, back in Iraq, the Bush administration is busy trying to build a smokescreen to hide the CRIMES they have committed. Those pesky weapons of mass destruction. Just think, the National Debt went up over 6 trillion dollars under Bush. More than 2 TRILLION of it went directly into the pockets of Halliburton, a corporation owned by the Cheney family. Halliburton is now a DUBAI corporation and therefore is not subject to US taxes. All that money they took out of the US Treasury is going into the coffers of a MUSLIM country.

    Did you hear about how the US government is being charged millions for Halliburton deliveries of sand into Iraq from Kuwait? Sand. Like there is a shortage of sand in Iraq? Another contractor shipped sand from Idaho to Iraq at our expense. Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz discusses these and other excesses of our current government's out of control spending in Iraq.

    Your grandchildren will be working like slaves to pay off this debt, so that the Bushes and Cheneys can live the high life in Dubai.

    Yeah, they're patriots, Bush&Co. They wear flag pins. And hide the money they stole from America in Dubai.

    I want to go back to the money spent on Palin's clothes because it also proves dishonesty on McCain's side that I haven't heard anyone mentioning.

    The McCain asked the RNC to buy these clothes for Palin even though he said it was wrong!
    McCain pasted an admendment on Campaign Reform stating he was against
    personal spending of campaign funds for even so much as a bow tie, but that
    was when Clinton was an issue.

    McCain offered one amendment that barred candidates from using campaign money for personal expenses such as vacations, mortgage payments, and clothing purchases, among others. Another amendment pushed for the campaign reforms, if enacted, to go into effect in 1994 instead of 1996, as originally proposed. Little noted was that McCain's amendment was identical to one that his Arizona colleague, Senator Dennis DeConcini (D), was set to introduce to the Senate, before McCain beat him to the punch by a day-a move that won McCain credit for the amendment.

    After eight years of Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, and oil industry cronyism in Iraq, I think the Republicans are going to have a hard time convincing anyone that Obama's the real crony capitalist here.

    McCain/Palin ad right on target. Obama's Chicago style politics and radical core is being revealed. The big question is will the confused people that want him to be our president wake up in time to vote for what is right for our country McCain/Palin? Our citizens do not need a tax increase...if Presidetn Bush's tax cuts are not renewed, but allowed to lapse, that in itself is a tax increase.

    Vote McCain/Palin we do not need redistribution of wealth in this country. This country has given most of the state and federal government, as well as social jobs, to blacks since implementing Affirmative Action. What an appeasement. These same blacks plan to riot after the election on the 4th regardless of outcome.

    SICK PEOPLE, go to work you will have less time to riot and stop listening to radical rantings in your churches.

        Let's see, a little personal info on myself: African American male, Vietnam Vet, June 1969-July 1970. Have worked and paid taxes since I was 16, currently 60 years old. Have a son who is a 21 year veteran of the US Air Force (3 tours in Afghan, 1 tour Iraq, Gulf War Veteran). Have a son in law who is a 20 year US Army veteran (Gulf War, 4 tours in Iraq). I could go on but why bother, you'll just pull your sheet a little tighter and hide behind your pathetic postings.

        I normally just read the postings just to see what's on other people's minds but I had to respond to you because you're buying into the hate campaign of McPalin and spouting a type of hatred that does not have a place anymore in America.
