The reality has finally caught up with the uncouth, corrupt SOB 85 year dinosaur and his "ALASKA WAY" The SOB conservative republican, with his own brand of perversity and rights only of his kind , who has been flaunting his BS for too long, has dug his own grave. Time for him to climb down into the grave and bury his smelly self interest and self righteouness, and the country to rid of it self of this malignant narcissists, chronic scape goater and uncorrectable grab bagger, who has been scarifcing others with coercion, reckless abandon and impunity to promote his own outward/hypocrite self image of good.

is it better to play the role of a victim than to play the role of the honorably defeated? To play the victim you have to persuade the people that you are victimized by a specific authority or a specific person. This is the scandal political maneuver made in the public elections of presidency in the biggest country in the world.
To that extent the dreams of the republican candidate narrowing for George Bush or Obam although both men have totally different method while you did not present an alternative method but only became the victim of both
What made you a victim of George Bush is only your absolute support for him for 8 years. What made you a victim of Obama is that you did not present to people a new dream, method or vision of future that people believe in. people can not be blamed for her intellectual awareness and ability of inspiration and change. On the contrary, we admit that new generations have the power and ability of change Thank God that American society is able of reproducing itself and humanity in the most powerful way

Palin is trying to hard to be a victim when she calls Katie Couric a sexist.

The title of this article implies that Stevens was or is a "Titan." What a sad commentary on what a bully and con artist can achieve.

How can a CONVICTED felon stay on a ballot for any office? Even if it's in a whacky little state like Alaska?
A felon can't even vote. Someone enlighten me please on this. Thanks!

Being a felon prevents you from voting, but not from running.

I am a felon and I can vote I believe that is a law in Florida, Not in Utah.

        • Posted By: Doc Howl @ 10/29/2008 9:30:32 AM

Depends on the state. In IL and AZ, you can vote once your rights are restored (which usually happens once parole or probation is complete.

I've lived in Alaska my whole life. Ted Stevens is an angry old man with a chip on his shoulder. He has ALWAYS gotten free stuff and perks from all corners of Alaska and beyond. That is why he is STUNNED that
someone has finally called him on it. He just "gave" a guy named Persons (owner of a restaurant near Stevens Alaska home) a paved road (measuring 7 tenths of a mile at a cost of 2.7 million dollars) that goes no where except Persons restaurant!! We shouldn't be surprised that Persons was one of Ted Stevens
main defenders in Stevens trial.......hmmmmm,..business as usual. Thats how he's gotten so much done all these years...the good old boy network.

The end of the party of preferential treatment for Alaska, to the benefit of America.

  • Posted By: skeetchamp @ 10/28/2008 11:38:21 PM

Stevens is shockingly greedy, as slippery as a snake, and packed with a massive ego. He sat there and told the jury never "notice" the $300,000 of stuff all around the house. He thought his wife paid for the major renovations and add-ons to their cottage-turned-mansion. I'd bet Bill Gates would notice if somebody gave him a quarter-million bucks. Evidently, the jurors agree. GUILTY. GUILTY. GUILTY. GUILTY GUILTY.GUILTY. GUILTY

Ted Stevens....another Republican disgrace much like George Bush. Only in America with a gov't run by a bunch of pansy a$$ pu$$ies could a convicted felon run for a re-election...much less an election. However, it's painfully obvious that Alaska is made up of a bunch of state of the art stupid people to elect this guy in the first place.

    • Posted By: Lee Holmes @ 10/28/2008 4:33:17 PM

You should be reminded that the indicted Democrat William Jefferson, was re-elected during his hearing by the ''stupid people''of Louisiana, who are poised to possibly repeat their ''stupidity'',on Nov.04,2008,as Jefferson, who is still under indictment,is running again. Other ''stupid people''include those of New Jersey, who sent Democrat Bob Menendez to the US Senate despite being under federal investigation for accepting illegal kickbacks, those of Ohio, who re-elected Democrat James Trafficant despite his impending imprisonment for fraud and rackateeering, those of West Virginia, who re-elected Democrat Rep. Alan Mollohan, who has been stripped of his committee chairmanships after a federal investigation was launched to probe his financial dealings with several non-profits and campaign contributors. Those of New York, who are getting ready to re-elect Democrat Rep. Charlie Rangel, the subject of a federal corruption investigation and Ethics hearing who yet maintains his spot as House Ways and Means Chairman, and those of Connecticut, whose Democrat Senator,Chris Dodd,is the subject of a federal grand jury investigation and impending ethics hearing into accepting illegal favours from subprime loan companies.

Mencken was right. No shortage of ''stupid people''in this country,as we see.

Sad, sad time for us all. Remember, the world is watching this mess, and we have the nerve to tell others how to run their governments. We need to concentrate on correcting our own dirty house. Remember, small minds talke about things, average minds about people, but great minds talk about ideas.

For Sarah Palin to declare that Sen. Stevens should resign the race is nothing short of saying that she should not be vice president. Whatever Sen. Stevens may have done pales in comparison to lying to the entire United States populus saying that she "said NO to that bridge to nowhere". Gov. Palin originally supported that bridge in "That Town" as she so rudely called us, until she felt that it wouldn't benefit her "fame and fortune" political career. For her to make the comments that she made was basically telling a town in her own state "you are expendable, if it will further my career".

Even worse is for her to say that she is capable of running the country after being a small town mayor and Governor for only two years. The best comment that I heard actually came from another party. "God forbid that anything should ever happen to Senator John McCain, would Barbie be able to handle Russia"?. My guess is NO.

The many issues coming out against "the Great Governor" are another red-flag. While understadably in an election race other parties are looking for the worst in opposing candidates there must be some basis to the many accusations coming out of her closet. Troopergate in itself was an example but now accusations of unacceptable spending and awarding of oil contracts just lend an ear to impropriety.

I hope that others will see that Sarah Palin is just a "Rogue" as some McCain party aides have described her as. Her interests are not that of a woman worried about the forward direction of the country but that of a woman looking to make herself rich and famous. This country needs a leader not looking to better their own lifestyle but to better the lifestyle of the nation. I have the most respect for Sen. McCain but feel he made a hasty and bad decision with minimal research.

You can't be a convicted felon and do much else except be a senator or congressman in this country. What a great democracy! A place for everbody, no matter how much of a scumbag they are!

..............................It is comical that the Republicans are always playing like they are always the moral ones but time after time they get in hot water with corruption charges or situations of sexual impropriaties....they just are not the angels that they portray themselves as before they get caught. Ted Stevens, the Ranking Republican in the Senate is a wealthy man yet he got convicted on all seven federal corruption charges, this is bad news for an already failing 2008 Republican Ticket. The newspaper reported that he was charged with lying on Senate financial forms about $250,000 i home renovations and other gifts he received from an oil contractor. They said they found it unsuprising that a senator who has mastered the art of redirecting tax dollars toward his State through earmarks and other budget games apparently had no trouble redirecting dollars toward his own home. Ted Stevens should not be holding a position in the U.S. Senate and he should be honorable enough to stop his re-election campaign now and just resign and retire!!!!

"Leaders of the state Republican Party stressed that they still believed Stevens was innocent, but they asked Alaskans to vote for him even if they thought he was guilty." ......Vote for him even in you believe he is guilty ! There are your core Republican Value's !

Has anyone noticed that Obama seems to be catching up in Arizona? And he is doing better than expected in Texas. McCain may loose his home state.

Ms. Dogma queen LoriW, who knows it all about every subject that ever existed. Too bad you don't have friends to spend time with rather than blogging your bs and ocd issues all over the place.

    not surprised...typical repug.

  • Posted By: tiredoflies @ 10/28/2008 5:40:15 PM

It is fact that Palin fires anyone who does NOT kiss up to her and hires all her friends.

Bush brought all his friends from Texas.

McCain, beholden to Bush, has hired all his team.

McCain and Palin are the only two in this race convicted with ethics violations.

And in case you do not get it, that means McCain and Palin have been PROVEN to be dishonest and deceitful in performing their duties in government.

    THAT IS FACT.

  • Posted By: Catbuns1978 @ 10/28/2008 5:36:20 PM

All I can say is another one bites the dust. As far as felons voting with ACORNS help, why can't they vote but they can legally run for office? Double standard, or just more open about the corruption in the government. How many does that make from Alaska? 4 or 5, anyone one seeing a pattern. If Sarah Palin can do this at a state level, what could her super DIVA powers do in the VP slot?
