What about the fellow down in Florida tryingto go down on minor fellows? How about Cheney shooting his buddy? I wonder why there was no immediate investigation. I think Jimmy Bean was involved?

I thought I would mention the incredibly expanding national debt and the floundering economyy, the hidden inflation everyone is content to call appreciation, the loss of jobs, the burden on our children and their children, the threats to our national security brought about by economic decline, the straight across dollar losses in the stock market.
The simple truth, Bush has costs us a fortune in economic loss that is directly proportional to his tax cuts plus whatever growth or gains we might have made. Under Clinton numbers our national debt would have been less than 25% of what it has become under Bush. We might even be approaching a $0 dollar national debt. So how are McCain's policies going to change that given they are Bush Clone policies. Sorry My friend, you are delusional to think Obama is worse for the country than a McCain Administration. Why even the rich may profit more under Obama as the economy recovers.
Bush's tax cut were socially irresponsible and have the middle class subsidizing employer's as we pick up the costs for indigents who make substandard and poverty level wages. Only a moron would think the country is better off with Republicans. Now, the Republicans who are really rich may be for awhile. They will continue to exploit the working middle class while they run off with the profits until utter chaos ensues. Then they will wish they had been willing to pay more to support a strong economy and a safer more secure society. Beware not of foreign terrorist; it is the domestic, homegrown ones that will tear us down. To offer prosperity for all snuff the fires of rebellion. Remember Antionette, she said"Let them eat Cake". The rebels gave her steel.

Proof Obama lies about Bush doing nothing for the middle class. You can read about this yourself at TaxFoundation.org. There are many other resources to see this as well. Look for old tax brackets on IRS.gov for example.

Comparing Income Taxes under Bill Clinton and George Bush

"This message shows that income taxes under George Bush are lower than income taxes under Bill Clinton, and it relies on Tax Foundation data to make this comparison. The author used a Tax Foundation chart showing the federal individual income tax rates and brackets from 1913 to the present to calculate the income taxes paid by hypothetical married and single taxpayers at various income levels under 1999 tax law and 2008 tax law."

Individual Income Tax Due in 2008,
    Bush Law versus Clinton Law
For taxpayers who take the standard deduction and have no children
Taxpayer Tax That Would Have Been Owed under Clinton-Era Tax Owed under Current Law, with Bush Tax Cuts
    Single, income of 30,000 $3,157.50 $2,756.25
    Single, income of 50,000 $7,262.50 $6,606.25
    Married, income of $50,000 $5,085.00 $4,012.50
    Married, income of $60,000 $6,585.00 $5,512.50
    Single, income of $75,000 $14,262.50 $12,856.25
    Married, income of $75,000 $9,426.50 $7,762.50
    Single, income of $125,000* $29,378.50 $26,472.25
    Married, income of $125,000* $23,426.50 $19,462.50
*This chart does not take into account the Alternative Minimum Tax

This chart also does not take into account the increase in child tax credit among other credits implimented by Bush.

All religion and anger aside, as responsible americans we should take our right and privilege to vote seriously enough to make our decision on who to vote for based on the issues, candidates records, who is mostly likely telling the truth, and who seems to have our country's best interest at heart. If we are being lied to, can we trust that person to protect us and do what is best for this country and we the people? There are motives here by both parties, what are Obama's motives for running this country when his past record shows no regard for the american people? But someone who served in the military for over 20 years...think about what that means whether you are for military means or not, what else can it mean when someone serves in the military for that long except that he loves his country so much he is willing to poor out his blood for our freedoms, our safety. What other motive could there be when you lay your life on the line day after day for 20 years? There can't possibly be any alterior or self serving motive in that. That's proof he loves this country and wants what is best for it. What has Obama done to show love for this country? He wouldn't even wear the flag pin early in the race. What reason could there be for that? Should you be proud of and love the country you want to lead and serve?

can anyone answer WHY they think Obama is better, what has he done that you like, what has he done to show you can believe in him? ANYTHING?? ANYONE??

I'm done. I have a family to take care of on my measley middle class salary. Thank God at least I have that extra money on my check from Bush's tax cut --- at least for now.

        • Posted By: elithian @ 10/29/2008 9:03:36 PM

What happened to the money from the Bush Tax cuts? Inflation, higher state and local taxes, replacing lost revenue, supporting the corruption on Wall street. Paying Cheney and Haliburton for killing Iraquis.
Wel, thank God for the Bush tax cuts that my great grandchldren will still be paying for!

      • Posted By: Louisianaconserv @ 10/29/2008 5:04:12 PM

I did address deficit in earlier post somewhere on here. Are you saying us picking up the tab for indigents who make substandard and poverty level wages is a bad thing? What do you think spreading the wealth means, exactly that! Or even worse, Obama says tax cuts/credits will go to those who don't pay income tax - that means that don't even work!!!!

    • Posted By: AskPlus @ 10/29/2008 4:28:33 PM

Exactly. Bush is great and Obama didn't wear his flag pin one day. Who cares what the experts say about the published plans. Just because they say his plans will work, and McCain's plans can't - doesn't change Obama's funny name.

      • Posted By: Louisianaconserv @ 10/29/2008 4:56:39 PM

Obama's plan is the same as those used in Russia and Cuba years ago, did not work at all..... results were very very bad. The economist I see on TV are apparently saying the opposite of what you are seeing. This too can be found - real facts about redistribution of wealth and how it worked for Russia and Cuba. Why not learn for yourself from history and real info instead of listening to economists on CNN

It is difficult to understand how anyone could even compare the campaigns of the candidates based on honesty and integrity, let alone ever say McCain and Palin are more honest or have more integrity - that would have to be totally ridiculous and out of touch with reality. Then to ever say Bush-Cheney were honest, completely puts it all into fantasyland. The list, in both cases, is unending and the lies, misrepresentation, attempted manipulation and just gross unconscionable dishonesty is vast with most everyone, especially anyone being objective, fully recognizing the obvious. For you to say otherwise and to offer garbage trying to support otherwise is just a waste of people's time.

  • Posted By: Nins @ 10/29/2008 1:14:34 AM

Even committed Republicans who support McCain have to ask themselves if they really would take the risk of putting our country into Palin's hands. Sure, being VP doesn't necessarily take a lot of skills, but being President requires great intelligence and a clear-eyed world view, one untainted by religious fanaticism. Look at the mess we got with the under-qualified Dubya, and even he seems smarter and less fanatical than Palin. McCain is 72 years old, with high cholesterol and high blood pressure; his father and grandfather each died of heart attacks at age 72. McCain's Vice President HAS to be ready to lead. And by lead, I am not referring to a full speed charge into Armageddon.

For those of you who don't know, Palin belongs to a fundamentalist church that believes the end of the world is near: that war, financial distress and famine will kill off the sinful non-believers, and that when this holocaust occurs all good Christians will be taking refuge in Alaska. Furthermore, her church conducts witch hunts -- they actually use prayer to locate "witches" in their community, then publicly brand them as witches, and hold them responsible for everything that goes wrong in town. (Honestly, I think the long winters must be getting to their minds.) You can go on YouTube and watch videos of Palin participating during sermons like this. She stands on the altar facing the members. The congregation stands with outstretched hands, trancelike, speaking in tounges while the priest prays to "keep Sarah safe from all forms of witchcraft."

Could you REALLY feel comfortable knowing that a woman who holds these beliefs would have the power to declare war and deploy nuclear missiles?

    • Posted By: flajim @ 10/29/2008 8:56:41 PM

Well, what about the Church Obama belonged to for over 20 years, and the teachings of that sect? Including the anti-American, anti-white rhetoric of the man Obama called his "Mentor" and "best friend"? Doesn't that have at least as much bearing on HIM as this video does on Gov. Palin? More, I would say, because he's running for president, whereas she is only on the ticket as Vice-President.

We as christians, yes I am a saved, sactified and filled with the Holy Ghost pentecostal christian, cannot blame all this country's mess on the liberals. We stood back and allowed one woman's efforts to get prayer taken out of schools (and look at them now ) and we turned our backs when they took the ten commandments out of our federal buildings. The persecution of christianity is nothing new, Consider Saul and all his actions to try to stop the church, it only grew stronger and in the end he was saved himself. God will not be destroyed, don't worry about that. What we need to think about is will our vote contribute to the brutaliity the church is suffering. If you say you are a christian and cast your vote for Obama , who will allow our babies to be aborted at will and so many other horrific acts, check up on where YOUR soul stands with God. If we do not stand up we may be having to take our churches under ground as do so many other countries, you will wish you had stood up then. For the ones that spread all the negative christian views, they do not need our anger because they are blinded by Satan, they need our prayers. I will vote for McCain with a clear heart

Sing it to the mountains sister. It's your way or the highway. Absolutely no one could be more right than you and your beliefs because it's the Christian way. I say we all get together and get enough signatures to have the scripture posted on every public bathroom stall in America because our views are right and every one else needs to learn that dammit. Church and State forever.

Comment: I just fervently wish that humanity will emerge from the Dark Ages once and for all and leave religion behind, a thing of the past, something we can laugh at and thanking ourselves for moving on and acting as enlightened humans for once... Till we having substantial, scientific proof of the existence of God then I cannot say I would follow any particular creed. I was a Roman Catholic so any accuses from some bible-thumbing fanatics to read the bible, well I have had my fair share of religion till I was sick of it and the hypocrisy surrounding it... Why is it that there are so many churches all vying for supremacy? Who is saying the truth? Jehovah???s Witnesses? Protestants? Calvinists? Roman Catholics? Jews? Muslims? Why should I believe the Church considering the atrocities perpetuated in the White Christ???s name? Are you using religion as a political tool for slander? To ease your conscience so that you may continue abusing the world and others of their free will? The hypocrisy of religion is that you do right because of what Jesus tells you not because something is intrinsically good in itself??? I am not questioning Palin???s political capability, I am European (Mediterranean is more likely lol) so I may out of the limb but I don???t think she should use religion as a political tool??? Leave religion out of politics or you???ll end up like Iran or one of those extremist Middle-Eastern countries???

    • Posted By: Louisianaconserv @ 10/29/2008 2:20:55 PM

THERE IS VALID SUBSTANTIAL PROOF! Have you even looked for it or are you afraid of the truth?
Do you know what the Church of Satan's motto is? Do what you will (FREE WILL). And they don't say that in the name of being free of any religion. They have a very real belief in religion and in Satan. So please be careful thinking that having the right of "free will" is innocent. Much of what people consider is free will is evil and not for good. Even Satanists recognize that. They know Satan is evil and they relish in that and chose that over good. If you have no religion or moral law to live by, then how do you know what is good and what is not? Where do you draw the line? And if you have no compass as to what is good or not, how do you know if you are doing wrong? Does it worry you you may be doing wrong? You cannot deny there is definately good and evil in this world. I have no problem with any other religions such as Catolics, Jews, Protestants, etc. The only ones I have a problem with are the ones that teach and live by the true definition of intolerance -- terrorism, killing, controlling those weaker than they, hate because we have freedoms they do not. It is not intolerant to be careful who you believe. Obviously, there are people who hate and kill and lie. Just because someone questions their past or their motives does not make them intolerant. It shows that our eyes are open to reality and we will not be easily taken advantage of.

"The only ones I have a problem with are the ones that teach and live by the true definition of intolerance -- terrorism, killing, controlling those weaker than they, hate because we have freedoms they do not."

What Christian church have you been in that teaches terrorism and killing? I don't think going to Iraq was an attempt to kill anyone. it's all to protect our country from further attacks and not leave us vulnerable and weak. And now that we are there, even if we have discovered we may have gone in for the wrong reasons, is it right to just leave those citizen there defenseless, just leave them to die? It's obvious their lives are in danger every day.

Since we are speaking religion. Senator Obama claims that he never heard Rev. Jeremiah Wright give such hateful sermons as the ones exposed during the primary election against Senetor Clinton. I find this insulting. Are we really supposed to believe that Senator Obama, after having attended Rev. Wright's church for 20+ years never head such a sermon. REALLY, we really want to believe this? I personally don't care if he knew about it or not, but I am insulted that he lied about it. This says more about a politician's character than anything else. I would have more respect if he came out and said, yes I've heard him say these things, but I don't agree with his beliefs, I know him as a person outside the church and we are friends but in church he gets carried away... I would have more respect for Senator Obama if he just told the truth, because if he is lying about such a little thing, what else is he lying about.... Also, the Chief Executive of the United States is chosen to make decisions, not to just be PRESENT while other man more courages than himself make the decisions for him...Of course that is my opinion, and thank GOD I live in America where our opinions and our criticism of our politicians don't threaten us with a 2 am knock on our door for a trip to Siberia...

People who claim to get their directions from a God scare me. People who are scared of going to hell scare me. People who quote scripture have no substantive argument... and scare me. People who believe in a god, and not in witches have a hard time keeping all the superstitions organized. Theocracy as an economic force scares me. Sarah Palin inveighs against a re-distribution of wealth, but Jesus told the rich man to "sell all you have and give to the poor." Isn't that a re-distribution of wealth? Is Jesus a socialist, Communist, Marxist Muslim. Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Yet McCain goes around fallaciously telling the public that he wants everyone to get rich. Does that mean he wants everyone to go to Hell?

Jesus told the parable of Lazarus and Dives, yet Palin and her church ignore the cries of the poor both in this country and abroad by devoting their money to banning gay marriage.
The God-zilla from Wasilla is a God fraud. And the churches that she are merely stealing in the name of the Lord. Saint Paul wrote that the "love of money is the root of all evil."
That certainly applies to both Saran Palin and the mega-buck megachurches that are financing the GOP.

  • Posted By: MTR1973 @ 10/29/2008 6:57:38 PM

They might ask Sarah Palin about lots of things, including her religious beliefs, if she had ever really and truly been made available for interviews. Then again, the journalists who DID interview her were so shocked at her ignorance regarding things that actually MATTER about a politician (despite what the Republicans will tell you, religious beliefs have nothing to do with political beliefs in the eyes of most voters in this country) that they were rightly focusing on those things instead.

Fortunately, conspiracy theorists are not going to decide this election, nor are idiots who make huge quantum leaps between points A and B in myriad unrelated issues. Sarah Palin, to many of us, represents the simpleton, intellectual laziness that we have been suffering under for the last eight years of Bush and we have seen where that dogmatic and indignant form of aggressive ignorance has gotten us. I really don't care who Sarah Palin actually/pretends to worship on Sunday morning - I just want her to go back to Alaska and keep her creepiness out of national government. Clearly, her unethical and Bush-like us-against-them mentality works in Alaska politics, but as we've seen now that a bit of a spotlight has shone on our neighbor to the north, we'd be better off if Alaska kept their politicians all to themselves.

It really breaks my heart to hear the polarization in this forum. I will be praying for whomever our leader is that is elected. Sarah Palin's faith is a wonderful thing to read about, and she would be a great leader. But, she is not perfect. No Christian is, as is no humanist or atheist either. We all have fallen short of the glory of God. All of us are sinners. All of us need the redemption that God has offered to us in His son, Jesus CChrist.

    • Posted By: bondservant @ 10/29/2008 3:52:03 PM

We all need the redemption God has offered in His son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died for us on the cross, was raised on the third day. Only through our faith in Him can we be saved. It is your choice - you don't have to believe. But, salvation is available to all through Christ. If you really want to learn more about this, try reading the book of Romans out of the Bible, or John as starting points.

    3 part question......

    1) Is it safe to say that the pastors of these "extremely conservative" churches inject their own opinions when discussing the link between their religion and politics?

    2) And, if that's the case, wouldn't it be considered "manipulative" for said pastor to "preach" said bible scriptures as a representation of said political issues?

    and....

    3) For a politician to endorse said pastor and said scripture, wouldn't that be the ultimate manipulation of said parish, and said constituency?

  • Posted By: tumordoctor @ 10/29/2008 11:09:26 AM

    Who wrote this? Bill Maher?

First of all, when did Latter Day Saints become a Christian denomination? Gotta cringe when secularists write an article like this. In any case, the liberal media isn't going to cease the attacks, so it's just a matter of getting used to it. It is, after all, spiritual warfare.

Check your facts moron, LDS or Mormons or Latter Day Saints, whatever you want to call them have proclaimed themselves as Christian since they were founded 200 years ago. You want to see how the U.S. Government will be affected by religion, come to Utah to see what the Mo's have done here....disgraceful

No pal. Do your own homework. Just because they state that they're a Christian denomination, regardless of how many years ago, does not make them a "Christian denomination". They believe that God was himself once a man, and gods before Him, and so on and so on.

Well, it's not realy an attack. It's important for voters to know they're voting for a VP whose church which --and I'll steal a line from the extremist right -- she's been going to for 40 years (not 20) with those (plural) crazy preachers, who believe in the worlds end game. That - is news and should be reported. Good job. But at least she's witch-free. God loves those who are de-witched. Right.

Do you ever listen to how you come across. You probably just are one very sad and unhappy person but do you need, to increase you self esteem, to attack others because of their beliefs. You do not in any way contribute to a meaningful dialog.
