The inflammatory title of the article itself immediately conjures up a negative view of Mrs. Palin. How about a little bit of objectivity for a change? How about Newsweek doing a revealing expose on the Black Liberation Theology that Reverend Wright (Barack Obama's friend and Pastor) espouses? One of Rev. Wright's mentors writes, "Black Theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the black community. If god is not for us, and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we'd better kill him" -excerpt from Dr. James Cone book "Black Theology & Black Power" Hello?...Newsweek...are you there...where'd you run off to?

Actually they did do those articles. I am a subscriber and read about these issues in the relevant past; apparently you are not a subscriber.

One comment said that a lot of Christians aren't doing enough to get into heaven. This comment just shows how much this person does not understand what the Bible says. Perhaps more than anything, the Bible clearly states that a man is saved by faith in Jesus Christ, and NOT be his own works or acts of service. Doing good deeds is good and beneficial and believers are called to live a good life. But we are incapable of changing significantly on our own. Our relationship with Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit gradually allows us to change. It is a life long process, not overnight. Christians still sin and do a lot of things God calls us not to. Yet it doesn't affect our salvation. Once you truly ask Christ into your heart, your salvation is secured for all time. Messing up does not change that. The Law (or rules that Christians are called to live by as unbelivers may know of) are there to point out our sin. Read Romans 7. Read Galatians 3:24. The Law is our tutor to lead us to Christ. These rules point out our sin and make us understand that there is no hope if we try to follow these based on our own strength and will. No matter what, nobody can do everything as God intended. Sin is sin. Bad actions are sin just as are evil and hateful thoughts. When you can understand how messed up you truly are and stop comparing yourself with others, that is when you can realize your need for Christ. The law points out our sin, and ultimately leads us to Christ when we realize we are hopeless without His grace.

Now I know why so many people are Christians...all you have to do is believe and all is forgiven. Could it get any easier?

We were not founded as a Christian nation, but as a nation of religious freedom and one with a SEPERATION of church and state. My fore fathers came over from England in the early 1600's, that does not give me any greater right to dictate what people should and should not do in their daily lives. The labeling of a people as good or evil has only invoked a history of bloodshed. If God loves, then do not hate and I see a lot of evangelical haters out there. Evangelicals are the most hypocritical people I have ever encountered. Why don???t you read the whole bible and live by it and let others live with their beliefs.

    • Posted By: paproudmom @ 10/29/2008 11:09:48 AM

Really, I actually see it in reverse. I have never seen so much hatred exhibited by left wing bloggers and the left wing media. You may want to take your blinders off.

"Palin has spent most of her life in the Assemblies of God, a denomination with an apocalyptic outlook. Members of the Assemblies of God believe the world will end in a fiery battle sooner rather than later; that the forces of good (that is, Christians) will win, and Jesus will return to earth to reign for a thousand years. This belief is common among many conservative evangelicals, not just Pentecostals. According to the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, a third of American evangelicals believe the world will end in their lifetime. According to a September piece on Salon.com, Palin told a political opponent in Wasilla she believes the same."

I don't want a church with apocalyptic prophets to put a member in the White House. I don't want any kind of that tendency towards self-fulfilling prophecy, or anyone who might start a war in the belief the end times are here. As much as people have talked about Reverend Wright, I think apocalyptic churches sometimes actively work towards the events that will usher in the end times, and I don't want to see that play out in Iran or anywhere else on our say-so.

That being said, I don't know that there's any evidence that Sarah Palin believes in apocalyptic Pentecostalism any more than Obama believes in Islam or the sermons of Reverend Wright. This article seems awfully speculative to me.

I just fervently wish that humanity will emerge from the Dark Ages once and for all and leave religion behind, a thing of the past, something we can laugh at and thanking ourselves for moving on and acting as enlightened humans for once... Till we having substantial, scientific proof of the existence of God then I cannot say I would follow any particular creed. I was a Roman Catholic so any accuses from some bible-thumbing fanatics to read the bible, well I have had my fair share of religion till I was sick of it and the hypocrisy surrounding it... Why is it that there are so many churches all vying for supremacy? Who is saying the truth? Jehovah???s Witnesses? Protestants? Calvinists? Roman Catholics? Jews? Muslims? Why should I believe the Church considering the atrocities perpetuated in the White Christ???s name? Are you using religion as a political tool for slander? To ease your conscience so that you may continue abusing the world and others of their free will? The hypocrisy of religion is that you do right because of what Jesus tells you not because something is intrinsically good in itself??? I am not questioning Palin???s political capability, I am European (Mediterranean is more likely lol) so I may out of the limb but I don???t think she should use religion as a political tool??? Leave religion out of politics or you???ll end up like Iran or one of those extremist Middle-Eastern countries???

how did this article go from Sarah Palin's religion to Obama being a Muslim? Anyone reading these negative posts and even worst the ones posting should be ashamed of themselves. I find it hard to believe that there are so many racist views. I am sorry for those of you who cringe at being called a racist but WOW. For the record Obama is not a Muslim. This issue has been debated and the reason noone is talking about it any more is because it is not true. If it were I'm sure that Fox News would report on it obsessively. It's funny how when someone's view is different from yours then it is wrong. You all want us to accept and listen to your views but when it comes to returning the favor you close your ears and your mind. Stop trying to cram your beliefs down our throats if your not ready to sit down and listen to another point of view. All of you who are so proud of your religion I hope that you got the part where it says do unto others as you will have them do unto you, and maybe people will stop calling you racist. Being a Muslim is not a bad thing its just different from what you believe in. All Muslims are not terroist just like all Christians are not religious nuts take time out to know thy neighbor and maybe you will learn to love thy neighbor.

How crazy is it that Lisa Miller and Andrew Murr disparage Sarah Palin for her Christian beliefs that may seem a bit strange, but don't have the courage to do a comparable story on Barrack Obama's worship in the black theology religion for the past 20 years that teaches hatred toward "the white enemy" (Cone) is against Jews and only supports gods who support this view. This is why Reverend Wright, as Obama's mentor is a big deal, but McCain doesn't have the courage to fully come out and talk about this either, he is just hoping the voters will do their homework. Don't get upset, just educate yourself and then decide. Google black theology, go to wikepedia, watch the youtube video below, but don't wait for Lisa and Andrew to write objectively on Barrack's beliefs. Besides, Barrack just wants to be your President. Sarah has the audacity of hope to be your vice president.
I fully support freedom of all religions, but if you want to be my president, I want to know what your beliefs and values are. As Barrack embraces a belief in hate, he is not what America needs as president of the United States.

So tell me, in Church on Sunday, how many people of color there are where you go? How many people can you call friend who have a different race? How willing are you to take responsibility for every crazy thing one of your mentors, relatives or associates has said or done? The is someone who has embraced hate here but I am afraid it is you dear one. Read your own words of deceit and disotrtion and you will see, perhaps almost as clearly as your maker.

You want try and plant false information into peoples minds, while every Repulican and some Democrats still are aksing for Senator Obama's Religion. If he is not Muslim, and I have nothing against a peaceful Muslim, why doesn't he change his name back to a Christian name instead of a Muslim name. Here is a good answer I received from a very good freind of mine that is a Muslim, living in a Muslim country. Here is a copy of her e-mail" Skip, Kaif halak? If a Muslim denounces his Muslim Religion in an Islamic country he or she would be put to death. Shukran, Assalamu alaikum" Would be kind of hard to do Presidental Middle Eastern trip if that is the case.

      What an idiotic comment.

Should everyone in the US with a German sur-name have changed it during WWI or WWII, or even today because of the evil doen by Hitler and the Nazis? Should Giuliani, and Schwarzenegger have changed their names to something "American"?" Do political hopefuls from Asian backgrounds need to change there name to something nice and WASP safe to prove they are American? Do Irish-Americans need to change there name to something less ethnic to prove they are not funding the IRA?

Whatever happend to the American melting pot? No matter what your last name, skin color, religion we are all American. Most people on the RIght seem to have forgotten that.

interesting how you can bash Palin's church and beliefs....and yet say nothing about Obamas church and preachers that "demonise" white America. What took Barak 20 years to figure out that he belonged to and extremist church?? and, no questioning the upbringing of Obama in Indonesia, registered as and educated in a MUSLIM school until he was 10.
As for the founding fathers of our great nation, check your facts. They were not theists, but rather almost all protestant Christians and Freemasons who hold religious freedom most dear.

    • Posted By: Historian1627 @ 10/29/2008 12:46:56 PM

    • Posted By: Historian1627 @ 10/29/2008 12:24:00 PM

This is the scariest information I have heard of Palin so far. Does she really believe that the earth was created 6 thousand years ago? Does she believe in dinosaurs? I surely hope she does. Is she going to become the modern American Inquisition (Opposed to the Spanish Inquisition) on earth to destroy and torture loving spritual movements such as Paganism, which by the way predates all monotheistic religions on earth. Does she honestly believe in the fairy tale witches such as the one that gave the apple to sleeping beauty so that she sleep until her true love gave her a kiss. Would she kill and torture innocents such as the poor individuals in Salem, MA. for heresy and Witchcraft. Which in this modern age the truth of this hysteria has been uncovered. Is she living in a world full of fantasy and horrific dreams made up by religious zealots? It makes me wonder if in the 21 century in this wonderful World that we all share, the powers that may become a reality revert America the Great to the Dark Age due to a lack of historical knowledge and the lies for power founded by past conquistadors based on deception and bigotry that this poor woman has been exposed to herself will dominate American minds. Is that what you really want as an American? Really ask yourself this question over and over again. Is that who you want in power?

    • Posted By: Anti_Politix_Pro_Morals @ 10/29/2008 12:45:04 PM

Wow! She went up for prayer to receive blessings and protection and suddenly it's the Great American Inquisition! I can see that leap of logic if a reasonably mainstream Christian becomes Vice President for a 4 year term. I'm pretty sure Hitler had to work pretty long and hard to achieve his hate filled goals. I don't think the path to domination and destruction is Hockey Mom -> School Council -> Mayor -> Govenor -> Vice President -> Dictator Wielding the Ax of DOOM to ALL Unsuspecting and Innocent UNBELIEVERS..... I think we have a fairly good system in place that involves elections every 4 years.

  • Posted By: Stephanie G @ 10/29/2008 12:45:02 PM

I'm sorry, Nate B, but I was not aware that any Christian faith promoted or condoned the type of attack that you offer in your comment. Senator Barack Obama is not responsible for his unfortunate middle name any more than I am responsible for mine. I think that some of your "No" answers comparing Governor Palin to Obama are also questionable. I don't doubt that many Pentecostal are good people, just like people of Muslim or Catholic or even the atheist or agnostic. What I do doubt is that people of any faith who promote violence, hatred and division among our county are good people. You, sir, are not making a case for your cause.

  • Posted By: Joyus @ 10/29/2008 12:41:55 PM

If you look at the video again, He was rebuking the spirit of witchcraft! Which, ask any pentecostal... means She deals in witchcraft! Just look at how she obtained all her seats in Alaska ...by deception and McCain as we see the start of is "NO EXCEPTION" to her rules. She will bury him win or lose, I actually feel sorry for him seriously! Just interview the former city council, the former Mayor and the Former Govenor and most of all now...Ted Stevens!

Hey noreptilicans, our forefathers said nothing about seperation of church and state. It isn't in our constitution, which you would know if you took the time to educate yourself about such matters. It is another faux pas that the democrats and media want you to hang your hat on.

Have you? Article one states : "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;. " They were referring to the imposition of a particular denomination, such as Anglicanism or Catholicism. They did not intend to remove God or religion from the govenment or the public square. Try reading the Federalist papers and other contemporary extra-Constitutional sources as well as the Inaugural addresses of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson, as well as Washington's Farewell Address in which he states that "Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports."

How come no one talks about how Michelle Obama said she's finally proud to be an American? For you husband's out there who listen and live with your wives every day, if your wife said that, you'd probably not be suprised.I'm sure you might share some of the same sentiments of your wives.

I served in our military and I was proud to be an American ever since I learned the Pledge back in pre-school. That's a slap in the face to all of us who served and died for this country. The only reason she's finally proud to be an American is because she's hoping to be the First Lady someday. Of course she's proud "all of the sudden". I'd rather Cindy be the First Lady because I'm SURE she's not FINALLY proud to be an American.

Well then what about Todd Palin being a member of the Alaskan Independence Party that wants Alaska to succeed from the US. Sarah Palin not only went to their conventions but spoke at them. I???m sorry but you can???t be patriotic and not want your state to be part of the US. The two things are mutually exclusive.

There you go. Good point. Hey, if people of one state want or desire to secede from our union- I really don't have hard feelings about that. I have to admit I don't know the implications of an event like that happening and I'm sure there are tons of good reasons for the union to remain tight. But anyway, if he is still a part of that group, and I don't think he is, and if they were to ever separate, at least he and the other separatists are not living among us with hard feelings such as Michelle. Maybe she should have found another country she could be proud of.
