Palin believes Newsweek is an anti-woman news organization. In addition, people in the media like Tina Fey are getting bribed by Oprah Winfrey to demonize first female republican VP candidate e.g. Oprah Winfrey appearing on 30 Rock and hugging Tina Fey saying "Stay close" to reward her for mocking Palin to make her look un-presidential to ordinary people who are swayed by con artists like Tina Fey and Oprah Winfrey every day.

How many times must we hear about the end of days? Countless evangelicals have predicted it and tricked people into believing that it's coming soon, when the bible states man will not know when. There are examples too numerous to mention, but one famous one: The world was supposed to end in 1833 and then again in 1834 and thousands following William Miller of NY sold all of their worldly possessions and awaited that day, their day to be reunited with God. In never came, twice. For those of you that really believe that the world will end in your lifetime; what will you say on your death bed when you are wrong?

I am not a voter, but the press is always down on McCain and Palin to the point it is sad. There are many things out there about Obama that just slips by the big media. For instance:
The Los Angeles Times has refused to release a video they received in which Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is caught on tape praising an alleged advocate of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.
    For Instance:http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/28/campbell.brown.obama/index.html
One year ago, he made a promise. He pledged to accept public financing and to work with the Republican nominee to ensure that they both operated within those limits.
Instance after instance there are Obama character flaws. The media is mesmerized by him. At times it is very comical to watch and read the junk they come up with without taking note of Obamas muslim birth and ties, they would rather put down someone who is a citizen.
Obama has visited 57 states in the US and said he still had one to go....this is a quite comical indeed.

Running this article less than a week before the election shows the bias of the mainstream media. It isn't so much the content as the timing. How about an article on Obama attending Rev. Wright's church with its liberation theology and anti-American, racist and radical views? The timing of the article is just one more attempt to portray Palin as a right wing religious nut while giving a pass on Obama

She is CRAZY!!! We cannot allow her to be put in a position of power or influence! She is the type of person that would push her crazy religious views on the entire country. This cannot be allowed to happen! She will ignore the separation of church and state more than Bush has. I am sick and tired of these so-called christians trying to influence government and laws with their bigotted and hateful views of the world. Its time to put a stop to it! "in the name of jesus...Jalapena!

I wonder how Newsweek knows that her beliefs are not ???main stream??? Christian views. The AG is very large and is one of the largest in the country. They have one of the largest missionary programs in the world as well. So I don???t think they can make this statement. In doing so, it shows the bias of the article. I, for one, am tired of the ???main stream??? media coming down on Gov. Palin from every angle. If you look close, the content of the attacks are something you???d see a couple of grade school kids arguing about on the play ground. We are hurting in America for honest reporting of the facts. Our countries news programs have turned from news reporting to news commentaries. Just report the facts and let us make up our own minds. I???m very disappointed in Newsweek and will make sure it???s not one of my sources for ???News???.

Concerned 4 usa -- if you were a true Christian you would not put out irrational, false judgement against Obama. How can you say he is a Muslim? Only right-wing pundits put that out there, and now the ditto heads, such as yourself, picked it up as a battle cry. I am conservative - but I'm certain the God I honor and obey is not the same as the one that Palin does. (for example, mine doesn't "command" God to do anything. We ask for His blessings. Mine does not single out people as witches... If the "main stream media" were all "liberal" then why are O'Reilly, Limbaugh, Colter, etc in existence? You get what you put out -- and those of you who are so set on slamming a man who was born of a white woman, raised in a white household, yet you continue to call him "black" (he is half black racially, but culturally definitely "white" for you supremists) -- and a Christian, I hope your God judges you as strictly, and as unfairly, as you are judging him. Get on your knees and beg forgiveness. McCain doesn't listen to anybody but himself - and neither does Palin. We don't need another 4 years with leader/s like W has been. They've not Mavericks, they're dangerous narcissistic people.

This is a very negative article which criticizes special aspects of the Christian faith...I think the writers should show more tact in raising articles that intrude into peoples personal faiths...The writers of this article are probably faithless anyway...Sad!

"Members of the Assemblies of God believe the world will end in a fiery battle sooner rather than later; that the forces of good (that is, Christians) will win, and Jesus will return to earth to reign for a thousand years. This belief is common among many conservative evangelicals, not just Pentecostals. According to the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, a third of American evangelicals believe the world will end in their lifetime. According to a September piece on Salon.com, Palin told a political opponent in Wasilla she believes the same."

Poisonously stated. Either very careless, or else purposely slanderous. No one knows the day or the hour of God's coming, according to the Bible, and if Pentecostals are as Bible-centered as they claim then they won't claim to know when either.

The way this is stated, the writer makes it sound like Christians will take up arms and when they destroy everything evil, God will come back. Baloney. Hokum. Not even John Hagee believes that. Christians believe that on His own time, God will immanetize the eschaton - HE is in charge, not Christians.

And for goodness sake, Palin never claimed that the Iraq war was a war from God. She asked that we would move to be in His will, not He in ours; what could be said is that this perhaps even shows her to be skeptical of our involvement in Iraq, if she thinks Christians aren't on the right page in supporting it.

I am just astonished at the slander. You are trying to lead people to believe that Palin is on a divine mission to start a war when there is not a shred of evidence to prove so. In doing so, you slander evangelical Christians in the process. There is a reason your subscription numbers are dwindling in the printed media, and it is because you continue to show your contempt for the beliefs of religious Americans who might read your publication. Some of "us redstater, Christian fringe-y" types read, you know. We aren
t the illiterate bunch you might think, and though maybe not everyone can put into words the frustration they feel at your horrendous bias, they feel it nonetheless. This piece is just another nail in the coffin of American journalism. It's a shame, too; our government is more powerful and intrusive than ever, and if the people can't trust the media to keep them accountable, who can we trust?

It is sad that people would put religion before the most basic needs of food, shelter and jobs. Abortion is necessary, no matter how much we may dislike it. For those who want to control another's body I say then you should pay to raise that child until they are 18 years old.

    • Posted By: Loviejoy @ 10/29/2008 10:33:14 AM

Abortion is not necessary unless the life of the mother is threatened. If you don't want to keep the baby, there are plenty of people out there who will take it off your hands. The fight against abortion has nothing to do with the "right of a woman to do what she wants with her body" but has all to do with killing the one inside of it. Life begins at conception. The problem is that women don't use birth control. Abortion is a way for some to have sex outside of marriage, get pregnant and conveniently get rid of the results. Abortion can be very dangerous to young girls, as well as for big ones, too. I don't mean only physically but emotionally. I've seen it and I am living through it with a young girl of 13 who had an abortion at 11. It may seem like the right idea at the time but the long-term results can be overwhelming.

      • Posted By: Bren4America @ 10/29/2008 11:34:57 AM

Your own words "Abortion can be very dangerous to young girls, as well as for big ones, too. I don't mean only physically but emotionally. I've seen it and I am living through it with a young girl of 13 who had an abortion at 11. It may seem like the right idea at the time but the long-term results can be overwhelming" What about bringing a pregnancy full term, that's not physically and emotionally damaging to a young woman? GIVE ME A BREAK.

    • Posted By: Non Profit counselor @ 10/29/2008 10:44:09 AM

      "Abortion is necessary"???
You've got your man then. The same guy who voted to refuse to give babies born after botched abortion medical care.
You're twisted and I'm praying for your soul.

      • Posted By: Bren4America @ 10/29/2008 11:30:02 AM

Don't be praying for my soul, you need to open your eyes and pray for your own. Your narrow minded views are not my views. Abortion has to be an option for women. I don't think it is your decision on what a woman does with her body. That is between herself/her family and her doctor NOT YOU!

    • Posted By: wardaddy @ 10/29/2008 10:28:51 AM

YOU MUST BE IN SUPPORT OF LEGALIZED PROSTITUTION AND DRUGS USE OF ANY KIND. THAT WAY EVERYONE CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT WITH THEIR OWN BODY, REGARDLESS OF THE POTENTIAL HARM.
AND IF YOU CONSIDER MAKING ABORTION ILLEGAL AS BEING THE LEGISLATION OF MORALITY, THEN YOU ARE AGAINST EVERY LAW, SINCE THEY ARE BY DEFINITION LEGISLATION OF MORALITY.

      • Posted By: mittyjoe @ 10/29/2008 10:55:02 AM

Christianity really isn't a religion. Its a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior. I recommend you reading Matthew 6:30-34 in regards to needs of food, shelter and jobs.
The unborn child isn't the mothers body. I would rather help you pay to raise your child than to help you pay to abort your child.

    • Posted By: rlwright2 @ 10/29/2008 10:30:34 AM

What is "necessary" about taking the lives of unborn children? If someone is concered about the cost to raise a child until he/she is 18 years old: KEEP YOUR PANTS ON! This is an issue of personal responsibility and there are a variety of options such as abstaining from sex, visiting your local health department for birth control, etc. to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. I would argue that statistics show the majority of abortions are a result of this irresponsibility and not the result of the mother's health, rape, molestation, etc.

If you are a Christian you are aware that evil in the world takes many forms. Jesus in a very well known verse in the Bible casts demons from a man into a group of swine and they stampede over a cliff into the sea. This is not outrageous to pray over someone and remember the man if from Kenya. When he prays for her he is coming from a perspective of a Kenyan village where many people still believe in witchcraft, evil spirits and voodoo. This does not mean that Sarah Palin believes in witches and specifically requested she be protected from them. That was part of the pastor's traditional blessing based on his own culture. I just wonder more about the timing of this article. This video was released early in September on the Web but you choose the week before the election to trot it out so to speak. Trying to affect the outcome and cast a little more doubt on the Palin/McCain ticket. Me thinks so. If she wants to protect herself from anything she should have asked for protection from the press from the heavens. That is what she really needs. While we are at it the Catholic church believes in exorcisms. I didn't see that discussed when John Kerry was running in '04. I am a Catholic myself so I know that it is a rite of the church. What is a real scandal is sitting in a church for 20 years listening to hate filled sermons and not getting up to leave. Of course you choose not to go there. Wonder why? Could it be bias.

  • Posted By: srj1 @ 10/29/2008 11:34:42 AM

It is not shocking that Newsweek would report and try to sensationalize beliefs held by millions of Christians around the world. If you don't do to church regularly or read and study the Bible you would write with a bias against the beliefs of what you called "very conservative evangelicals" who are outside the mainstream churches. I think you need to do your research a little more or tell the truth. You are correct, Pentacostalism is the fastest growing Christian movement in the world because people are tired of hypocrisy coming from traditional "mainstream" churches are they are reading the bible and are exercising their faith. Call it crazy, but we are honored to be called crazy. The Pharisees and Saducees of the bible days said the same thing about Jesus and His followers.

Why don't we just change the electoral vote to the media vote? You guys clearly want to choose the next president? You are all disgusting. IT is good that I have not voted yet...because I am changing my vote from Obama to McCain.......

Excuse me, if JESUS says satan then he exist. Any religion has a process to rid them of satan's hold whether christian, muslim, etc. including any fringe religions (or more accurately, churches) has ways to clear the mind of negative (satan?) vibes (re: church of scientology). Just another example of many secularist writings in disbelief about what was normally accepted rites for centuries until the recent ascendency of pantheism, of which they profess.

Seriously, Newsweek/MSNBC?!? I just searched the Newsweek site for Barack Obama Reverend Wright, just to see if they had done such an in depth article on Obama's religious beliefs and portrayed with vivid descriptions and quotes what went on in the church he attended for 20 years. Guess what came up..."Oops, no results were found... did you mean barrack osama reverend wright?" Really, it happened. Try it. Good Grief, Newsweek. Seriously.

What you may not realize is that many chrisitians believe that witchcraft is a spirit - something you cannot see - surely you believe in things you cannot see?..Anyhow, this unseen spirit or motivator (if that is a less frightening word) motivates people to do things that hurt themselves or others. Chrisitians believe that "spirit" of witchcraft began a very long time ago and it excercises itself in many peoples life with the specific intent to manipulate, dominate and/or intimidate - or very simply; control. These actions hurt people which is why they are frowned upon but sadly many of us are unaware of the "unseen motivators" and are confused at our behavior - christians have traced the roots of these behaviors, labeled them and beleive that the "spirit" of Jesus, can help rid these hurtful unseen motivators or "spirits" - non-chrisitians simply go to therapy but sometimes after the hurt has already taken place. It sounds like her pastor was trying to identify the unseen motivator or "spirit" before it caused her or someone else hurt. I hope that clears things up a little. I am a christian but my heart is to bring understanding of our lives into those who are unfamiliar because I admit it does seem strange at times :) Thank you.

Where's Newsweek's piece on the video tape of Obama Praising Controversial Activist
Video of farewell party for alleged PLO worker shows Obama toasting 'friend and dinner companion' with questionable past?

Sarah Palin's personal choice - freedom of religion - is "notable reporting" whereas Obama's dining and toasting individuals who bring great harm to others is not?

    Where is Newsweek's journalistic integrity?

    • Posted By: makdove @ 10/29/2008 11:33:43 AM

Obama wasn't praising a controversial activist. He was praising a terrorist that he is very close friends with. The LA Times doesnt want to release the tape because they are afraid that the American people, especially Obama supporters will figure out that Obama is a very deceptive man who continually lies for his own purposes and is not fit to be president.
