Palin's actions in the past portray a very different persona than what she is now protraying to America. She has side stepped laws, abused her power and some of you just don't get it. Tricky Dick Cheney did the same thing, and look where we are now. You all can't be stupid, you went to the same schools I did. Even McCain's own campaign advisors say "Palin is a Wack Job". You can quote your bible verses but these have only made you blind. If there was a GOD, then why did he let George W. Bush invade a soverign nation? There were NO WMD's, it was all a lie and he conditioned you followers to accept his lies just as McCain/Palin are doing right now. You really want to continue the divide in America, don't you? McCain/Palin are race baiting. I see their rallies, they are white oriented. On the other hand Obama/Biden have diversity in their crowds and speak a positive message to bring America back to the great nation it once was. After only 8 years the republicans, for which McCain has prostituted himself for 90% of the time, have left our nation on the brink of complete colapse. Don't be duped again. OBAMA-BIDEN '08.

    Hey alreadydecided,

You're such a great Christian that you have the nerve to question another Christian's beliefs? Wouldn't that be between him and his creator? Have you been given special Christian authority to judge who is and who isn't Christian enough. The reason that Christians are losing respect is because of comments like yours and others who want to throw their religous preferences in the face of everyone who doesn't fall in line with your beliefs. The Christian Coalition is losing its power in this country and there is no telling how far some radicals may go to turn this trend. Enjoy the next 8 years having a president with the name Barack Obama (God forbid)

Cameras in Churches in Chicago are fine but not in Alaska? Hypocritical, no?

Anyone who attends church on purpose and believes even a shred of the bible should be disqualified for public office. We need people who have rational and logical minds to run this country. Why do you think that America and every other Country that is filled with fanatics has made a total mess of this world? We let people with mental disorders become president. In fact, if you don't have this mental disorder, you have little to no chance of becoming a public official. This is pure lunacy. Man/Woman: Hey! I hear voices and believe that fairy tales are real. Public: Your qualified to be the president. Once elected Man/Woman: God is on my side and has put me in power to do his will. Let's go to war. Public: Praise the lord.

The funniest thing about Palin to me is the fact that she thinks god blessed America with oil. Hey Sarah, God must love the Muslims even more, because they got the most oil.

Smacky15, do you realize that our founding fathers were Bible believing Christians??? Do you realize the reason the Pilgrims came to the New World was because England would not let them worship God the way they knew they should? They came to a new country to have the freedom to worship. Our very first President, George Washington, had this to say, "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible." All of our laws in one form or another come from the Bible. Our nation has been, from the beginning, founded on the Bible. Because Christians have been too relaxed, those rights are slowly being sucked away from us. Prayer has been taken out of school. You can now be suspened from some schools for wearing a piece of clothing that has anything to do with Christianity because it might "offend" someone. Yet shirts can be worn expressing support for Gay rights, abortion, foul language, Athiesm because they have "Freedom of speech." I am offended as a Christian that if I work in a store and tell someone "Merry Christmas", I could be fired. I am offended that nativity scenes cannot be put up in public places. I am offended because crosses are being torn down from public parks. I am offended because we cannot pray before a highschool game for fear of ONE PERSON saying that we caused them "great distress" or are "pushing religion down their throats" and suing the school. And I am DEEPLY offended that the man running for the highest office in our land, refuses to wear a flag pin and refuses to say, or put his hand over his heart, while our national anthem is playing because he might "offend" someone.

As Christians we are being to lax about our rights. Because we are not "sue" happy, nobody listens. If we are not careful, there will be no more rights. We need to stand up and protect our rights. Not with guns or violence but simply to stand up and let ALL of our voices be heard.

I am so very proud to be called an American. I am very proud to have people in office or running for office that hold God in the highest respect and will not back down. I am proud to support John McCain and Sarah Palin. GOD PLEASE CONTINUE TO BLESS AMERICA!!! Without God in control, there will be no America.

Thomas Jefferson did not believe in all the words of the Bible. Although he took great pains to cull parts of scripture he couldn't personally accept, his "Jefferson Bible" is evidence he believed in much more than a "shred" of it. Since this should have, in your eyes, disqualified him as a public servant, do we need to throw out all the documents he had a hand in creating?

IT takes more "faith" to believe in Evolution, than to believe in Jesus Christ. I pray God reveals himself to you. You then can rationalize all you want with your creator and father.

One more hatchet job on Palin. Just couldn't resist, could you Newsweek. I wonder why you never did any stories on Obama's 20 year relationship with the Reverand Wright and his "God Dam* America" views?

ALL CHRISTIANS MUST UNITE NOW TO QUELL THE LIBERAL STORM!

Don't let the Liberal Media convince you that this election is already over. IT'S NOT! So please get out and vote. This is a pivotal moment in America's future and HISTORY! Don't take it lightly!!!

JOHN MC CAIN / SARAH PALIN '08!

  • Posted By: Guardian305 @ 10/29/2008 11:15:26 AM

I must say that I become more and more disappointed with the media every day. This is not reporting. This is an attempt to sway voters away from a decent, hardworking american governor who is bent solely on making this nation better. Her religious beliefs are important as are those of the other candidates, but you take what is a petition to a gracious God for guidance and grace and make it into some sort of satanic ritual. God said ask of him for all our needs and he will provide. I pray constantly for wisdom which I believe He has granted me in plenty. If he had not, then I would be easily swayed by the ramblings of an anti-religious, anti-american reporter bent on making this country into something our founding fathers never meant it to be, a haven for the anti-christian, anti-religion socialist movement!

If Newsweek does not show concern about Obama's strong Muslim ties and the fact he attended a church for twenty years in which the preacher focused on hatred of whites and the US; it escapes me why they would they would care about Sarah Palin's beliefs? This type of journalism needs to cease.

This article did not help. I think your thoughts are junk.

  • Posted By: briguy353 @ 10/29/2008 11:15:13 AM

As a Democrat, I believe this story isn't relevant to how we should perceive Gov. Palin. I think she has the right to have unique religious views and also that she would probably keep them separate from her job. Just as Senator Obama will not integrate his religion into practice. I think we should primarily focus on Ms. Palins inablity to apply critical thinking skills and her true allegiance to hard core black and white thinking. She doesn't seem to see that challenging problems require a unique ability to problem solve in an arena of gray areas. McCain could have done much better as, I would have considered him as a credible candidate with someone such as Lieberman or even Rudy G.

can you really prove this is Sarah, there is no close up of her so this could really be anyone that resembles her.

Where is the story about the vast majority of Christians who think fringe denominations like the one Palin belongs to are misguided ,and full of over emotional nut jobs who want to put God in a box as tiny as their own world view? I pray every day that God looks out for this country, I would hope that people of all faiths all over the world would do the same, but I don't think we are any more special in God's eye that any other country. The US is not God's secret Delta Force attack team. These fringe Christians give the rest of us a bad name, stop giving them the spotlight..

i will never purchase your magazine again. Your bias against Sarah Palin makes me sick. As a combat wounded veteran who fought for your right of free speech your are in the tank for Obama. Fairness is not within the pages of your Rag

Why is it that when someone hears voices or thinks they are from Mars they are considered mentally ill? But when mass groups of people believe in a talking snake with an apple or an invisible being using a rib to create a woman they are OK? Please. Humans, not exactly the brightest kids in the class.

  • Posted By: woodrow123 @ 10/29/2008 11:14:05 AM

You call this investigative reporting?? Your actions towards this woman are reprehensable and embarrassing. The media is making a fool out of itself and and an enemy of the people of this country with the way that it has tried to spin this election. Sarah Palin is a normal person! If you really want to look deeply at past connections ties and dig up dirt newsweek, why don;t you ask critical questions about Mr. Obama's past ties?? Oh yeah by the way, this pastor happens to be from an area in AFRICA where there are people who are actually witch doctors and go around terrorizing and killing other people in villages. He has a right to talk about them in this way. Figure it out.

People forget that this country was founded and our laws were founded on "Christian" beliefs. We have removed God from our schools and our public buildings and now Christians are being ridiculed for our beliefs. You can believe it or not. That is your choice. But do not condemn us for our beliefs. We are nearing the "End of Days'. Now whether or not it will come in my life time or not I do not know. Those that mock God and His people will be judged and you can not say that you weren't warned. I stand up with Sarah Palin and I beleive the whole truth of the Word of God. Now whether or not McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden are elected either way good or bad God will use them for his purpose. You either trust God or not. Look what's happening to all those people that put their trust in the stock market and money. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Put your trust is Jesus not this world, or our government or the stock market. Believe it or not that's your choice.

How short of a memory do Conservative Republicans have? Newsweek did numerous short, long and even a cover story on Senator Obama and his former pastor and his religious beliefs and how they were formed. Hello it was a COVER STORY!!!! Stop throwing stones in a glass house. Contrary to Conservative Christians judgments, you can be a Democrat, a Christian and strife to live a meaningful, righteous life. I want to know how extreme Governor Palin???s beliefs are. I want to know if she will send in a nuke to start the second coming. That is relevant to how her judgment will be impacted by her religion. I would want to know the same about anyone who may lead our country. Hypocrisy is a sin: You want to forgive John McCain for adultery, Bush for being a cocaine sniffing alcoholic (in his "youthful" 30s) but try to demonize Barack Obama for attending meetings to work on a Republican supported and appointed committee with Williams Ayers years ago! It amazes me how conservative Christians shield themselves in their cloaks of fake righteousness instead of truth. Stop tip toeing in the truth and walk in it.

The Annenberg Foundation is NOT a 'republican' committee. Annenberg himself (deceased) was a republican, but, as is always the case, foundations like to give money to causes their original creator or endower would never support.
