I just love to see the media and left wingers scream from someone who declares their faith in Jesus. Why do you people hate God. I understand how you can hate religion and organized relious people as they can be obnoxios, but God made you and you will stand before him someday.

What is coming of this is just as Satan ,the ruler of this world, for now, wanted and that you have seperation, Christians and non Christian fighting and bickering with each other, how about that! This is truly sad. Nothings changed, even Christians arent acting like Chrisitans here, way to be an example, you catch a bear with honey not vinegar...God bless all,I pray you make a good choice,it will be every thing to this wonderful, free country that we live in that alows a debate such as this.

If we are going to bring up Sarah's church, let's talk about Obama's.... 20 years in the pews of racists Wright and Obama never heard him make those comments. Get real.

yanom I cant understand you being a christain and stating you are voting for a candidate who is clearly not a christain and oposes everything christains represent.

I have a real problem with the authors obvious bias in this article. It may just be a lack of understanding and/or knowledge of Christianity. This article is written as though Christianity is a newly formed religion with pratices and beliefs that are strange and unusual to the world. Christianity has been around for thousands of years and its beliefs are not new. The Bible clearly teaches that there will be a final judgment day and the end of the world as we know it will end. It is true that most Christians (those living or not) have always thought that the end of time would be in their lifetime. I think as Christians we are supposed to believe this because we are to live our lives in godliness as though the end times were near. This keeps us focusing on what is really important and that is serving God. However, the Bilbe also mentions that we do not know the place and/ or time when Jesus will come back. It mentions that he will come back, "as a thief in the night", in other words, when we least expect it. Christianity, as I know it, is tolerant of other people, religions and opinions. We respect others beliefs because we expect our beliefs to be respected. We are taught that we should love our neighbor as ourselves. We do not push our beliefs on others but we do try to live a life that is Christ - Like and we are ready to share our beliefs with others who are interested. As for Israel, we believe that the Jewish people are God's original "chosen people". God made a covenant with Israel and His promises can never be broken. Israel was (and is still) looking for a Messiah. Where we differ from the Jewish people is that we believe that Jesus WAS the Messiah Israel rejected that He was the Messiah but that doesn't mean that God forsaked them. Through Israel's rejection the salvation and promises that God gave to Israel was opened to the Gentiles (aka all who are non- jews) The Bible says that it will be revealed to the Jewish people in the end times that Jesus was the Messiah that they wanted and the He will bring them back to Himself.
I say all of this to not preach to those out there but just to clear up in the minds of the readers what Christianity truly is. I have a hard time with people who do not do their research on Christianity and try to twist the truth to make it sound like it is for crazy people. Governor Palin's beliefs should remain her own "personal" beliefs. They should be free of ridicule. I believe everyone's beliefs should be respected whether you are Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc. or in the alternative, non religious. Governor Palin's beliefs just happen to be Christian. I don't think we should hold that against her.

Christianity's beliefs are very strange, it is just 99% of christians have abandoned their own doctorine. Does anyone actually do what the bible says anymore? Do you take an eye for an eye? Do you live bythe sword and die by the sword? Do you slaughter unbelievers? Do you burn witches? Do you own slaves? Do the women in your life hide their faces and remain silent in church? The sad thing is that they can let go of the parts of the bible that they don't agree with but can't just let go of the last vestiges of their unreality. If people actually followed the christian docorine anymore, they would be locked up and electrocuted for crimes against humanity. Learn to grow at www.infidels.org

why aren't you and the liberal media investigating the religious beliefs of Obama, whose father was a Moslem? He cannot even define what it means to be a Christian (note interview with Rick Warren at Saddleback church) May God help journalists in this country to treat the candidates fairly and objectively.

  • Posted By: JamesTheBeliever @ 10/29/2008 10:42:00 AM

It is understandable that the writer of this article is sceptical of Sara Palin's Christianity. The writer is an unbeliever, demonstrated by her comments. Therefore, the writer has no understanding at all what God, His Son Jesus the Christ, and the Christian church are about.
Chrisitans beleive that the bible is the word of God, God having inspired certain men He chose to bring His word to the world.
The unbeliever cannot understand what God is all about unless God has previously chosen them to be in Him, to be His children. Ephesians 1:4 The unbeliever is spiritually dead to God until God Himself gives them life, understanding, faith and belief.
So, the article is just what it is, an attempt to explain something the writer cannot at this time understand. All the things that was said about the end times it true, just the timing is unknown, but we can know the signs that are happening all around us.
I am not pentacostal but that does not change the truth of God's word in the bible to His people.

Why do we think a politician's personal political beliefs are important? All i need to know is if they believe in "freedom of religion".

  • Posted By: jesussavesme2 @ 10/29/2008 10:04:05 AM

This is the typical articles that one would expect to read from the politically correct leftwing media. You would
be well served to give serious thought to what Gov. Palin believes. This is what has kept our nation as strong
as it has been. You should be ashamed to write this article in the demeaning and ignorant way, but how can
a blind one keep from walking off the cliff? Monroe, Louisiana

Why do you assume this article is meant to be negative. Though the media may "question" Sarah Palin's beliefs, as I Christian, I am comforted by the fact that she has Christian values and is willing to stand up for them and use them as guidance as she leads her state and or country.

  • Posted By: rmcoutreach @ 10/29/2008 10:41:49 AM

How is it that we have journalists in America that do not agree with the faith of Sarah Palin and this somehow makes them the authority on Biblical knowledge. I would encourage the writers of this article to write about the knowledge you are certian of, if there is any, and do not write about what you are abviously ignorant of.

Why is t they never question obama's religion or his and Bidens hipocrisy of charity!!!

  • Posted By: IndependentSmiler @ 10/29/2008 10:41:10 AM

Newsweek once again shows its support for Obama. Don't ask about Reverend Wright or Obama's beliefs because it's racist and a "distraction". Jeez, guys, can you be just a little bit more like journalists? Nothing wrong with assailing Palin's beliefs, but only when you counter it with Joe Biden's. That's right. Where did it ever become okay to compare a VP candidate to a Presidential candidate. You only show the obvious. The left is totally afraid that a reformist two-year experienced governor who looks better than most Democrat appointees under Clinton ever could has the possibity of actually running this country and solving the problems there in. Like Teddy Roosevelt, if hunting and fishing and 2 years as a governor & fighting one's own party and reformer is what you are looking for, you got it in Sarah Palin. If you want a man who cannot spell a three letter word, "J-O-B-S", cjhoose Joe Biden, but if you want a totally inexperienced, untested, socialist elitist who has already told you he will raise your taxes if you make $250k, no wait, $200k, no wait Joe said $150k (it will probably be 20k by the time he gets sworn in) and has said he would rather sit down that fight, then by all means, go ahead and vote for the racist radical elitist leftist socialist a la James Earl Carter (the only difference being skin color, teeth, and ears), Mr. Barack HUSSEIN Obama, rhymes with Llama, and really, really loves his grandMama. Sheesh, No wonder I cancelled my subcription to this left wing rag years ago. Go write a movie review or something, you certainly don't write about anything newsworthy.

I can't believe the news outlets in media and print with their sagging sales and viewership just refuse to see the light . I guess they don't know who their customers were either that or they don't care if they run their business to the ground. This is down right nit-picking. Mr. Oboma is a relegious man who has been going to the same church for 20 years Where's your unbias reporting in this area. I'm willing to bet his church is against gay marriage(Mr. Obama is against gay marriage) with a strong belief of the father staying in the family and promoting family values despite the racial overtones. Don't think Mr. Obama is GODLESS he is not. He just has a different view of who the devil is..

    • Posted By: Maria1986 @ 10/29/2008 10:19:25 AM

Fresca, you should go to Obamas official website and read the link to GLBT's. He in fact is for gay marriage, his wife also spoke at a GLBT convention about marriage and love being for every lifestyle. Look at his website so you are informed about his stance.

      • Posted By: pg4239 @ 10/29/2008 10:40:38 AM

so what? who cares? grow up.....gays have been around ever since god created them.....they want gay marriage ? well guess what then they'll have gay divorce too, they should be careful what they wish for.
are you so theatened by what people do in the bedroom? i've met some pretty nice gay people as well as some pretty rotten gay people, they are no different than the rest of us humans who are generally stupid & intolerant , just like YOU....enjoy the election & try not to foam at the mouth or drool when obama wins

  • Posted By: tnconsv @ 10/29/2008 10:40:36 AM

Unreal that you question her religious belief but will ask or report one hard item on Obama! This guy has a brother who lives in poverty and he can not help him but he wants to spread my wealth to everyone else. Maybe Mr Obama needs to remember charity starts at home!!

  • Posted By: maddoc @ 10/29/2008 10:40:33 AM

if obama is elected, i hope americans enjoy being poor. why bother trying hard to make money if obama is just going to tax it? he's taxing success. what a HORRIBLE idea! how about trying to graduate high school and college, and then maybe you'll understand why i'm so upset that obama is taxing people who make 250 and up. 250,000 IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE. it's actually the NORM for most people. some of us actually try hard....

  • Posted By: maddoc @ 10/29/2008 10:37:44 AM

wow. ok so once again the liberal (and stupid) media rips palin for believing in Jesus, yet they leave Obama untouched.. .even though for TWENTY YEARS he listened to how much wright hates white people. cool.

    • Posted By: benkrapf @ 10/29/2008 10:40:21 AM

Have you actually listened to any Wright sermons other than the ones Bill O'Reilly and Rush put on soundbytes? If you listened to the content and not the surface of his sermons, you'd find yourself agreeing with some of the things he says.

Don't we have enought religious zealots around the world? The nuns use to teach us that if you weren't Roman Catholic, you couldn't get into heaven. Is that still true? Is my god better than your god? Is God on my side and not yours? Haven't we had enough of this stuff? Can't we all just lead moral and ethical lives without calling on God for his/her help?

    • Posted By: soldouttoJesus @ 10/29/2008 10:39:56 AM

We all need God for every area of our life. His intention from the beginning was to form a loving, lasting RELATIONSHIP with each of us, and when the first plan failed, He instituted a way to get us back to Himself. We find out about that plan through the Bible, and through apostles; prophets; evangelists pastors and teachers who teach what the Bible says, and not their own limited interpretation.

For those who belive Palin has more experience than Obama since she's Alaska'a Governor. How about the fact that the whole state of Alaska has less population than NYC or Chicago. Getting elected in Alaska takes less than just a decent resume and jelly for brain! Do you belive Palin would get elected if she ran in NY or CA? To lead a country, just being good enough is never enough and should not be, it amazes me how some people can be so conservatively blinded to belive that anyone can be leaders as long as they think like conservatives. In my book, all things being equal, education gets the point, and in this context alone, Biden is far more qualified than any college hopping, bible citing airhead everytime. This woman belives human has been around for 6000 years people! If you want this kind of stupidity leading your country you'd better prepare to work for China soon. And you wonder why your education system is down the drain.

If you think so little of Palin's experience, then you must think even less of Obama's! At least Palin is running as VP, Obama is on the top of the ticket!

Why not post all the experience Obama has? Hmmmm?

What don't you brainwashed people understand about
    SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE?

    • Posted By: betsker @ 10/29/2008 10:39:19 AM

Sadly you are the brain washed. Perhaps you attended a public school, or should I say a secular humanist government school. Did you learn about what the Constitution said about the "separation of church and state?" No, because it isn't there. Jefferson wrote it in a letter, and now every secular school uses it at proof that people of faith shouldn't speak about or live out their faith if they run for political office. Funny, that's exactly what the Establichment Clause protects us from. I think the real problem is people of faith and integrity provide a mirror to the soul of the corruption in the hearts of all humanity. Without the grace and love of God we would all be lost at sea. Don't hate the people who try to pull you aboard the Lifeboat. It's not them that are able to save, but the grace of God alone. We just try to show you how to climb on.

What does separation of church and state have to do with this article? It was asking how Sarah's religious views will affect her governing. What, you think if she's a politician she should leave her religious viewpoints at home when she goes to work? That's not required, no one does that, not even Obama. Furthermore, it's not even possible to separate the religious beliefs from the person. Unless you are talking about specific legislation, then separation of church and state are irrelevant.

  • Posted By: kathleenrr @ 10/29/2008 10:38:43 AM

I I am shocked that so many people are demanding that Newsweek write an article about Obama's faith. When the issues about Rev. Wright came out several months ago, Obama's faith was scrutinized by every media source. And keep it mind it was his CHRISTIAN faith that was being scrutinized - not allegations that he is a "closet Muslim."
Then John McCains's relationship with Rev. Hagee was looked at briefly.
So what is wrong with reporting on Sarah Palin's beliefs?
The founding fathers - for the most part - came here to escape religious persecution in the countries that they fled - however, there were several different sects, Puritans being the most well known, but other groups and they each wanted their own form of worship to be that of everyone. Our founding fathers wisely said NO STATE RELIGION, everyone can worship as they please (and they did NOT limit it to Christianity).
If you read individual biographies you will find that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Frankilin all questioned the accepting the Bible as something to be taken literally. So our all of our founding fathers were not as steeped in Christianity as were are taught in grade school.
