    What a waste of time this article was. Are there not more important issues to discuss 6 days before an election? People are losing jobs, the economy is lagging, there are millions uninsured and I had to waste 10min of my day reading this article, which essentially amounted to nothing. Where is the front page article about Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright - that relationship is far,far more troubling yet there is no mention of that this week? Sure it was discussed months ago, but this thing with Sarah Palin was discussed awhile ago too. So - why bring it up now? Is there a hidden agenda by Newsweek? What a shame.

    Article VI of the US Constitution says:

    "no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

    So what if Palin is a Pentalcostal.? So what if Obama were a Muslim. No religious test shall ever be required....

    "Right Wing Christian Nut?" Sir/mam, would you honestly make those comments about the Muslim faith? Would you write an article like this about the Muslims and Mohammed the prophet? Perhaps you don't have what it takes to confront Muslim extreemism and its various forms that are killing people and our soldiers for fear of you own life. Are you truly that cowerdly and gutless? Has the Muslim world put that kind of fear in your heart? Yet, you would second guess honest faith and sincere love for Christ and doctrins that differ in the Church? Truly you step on sacred and Holy ground. What about the Constitution and freedom of religion. Yet, in this article you hide behind that very right to spew your unethical bias and express your opinion and presumptions on an individual right and choice to ascribe motive and create suspicion. It doesn't matter weather you are Democrat or Republican this is a personal freedom and not one for you to drag through the mud and trample on our rights. How would our forefathers have reacted to you in the colonies? How would the framers of the Constitution have reacted? Well, we don't know but we do know this; your editor has no ethics, integrity, or guts to correct or fire you, which should be done. You break all the rules of journalism. Perhaps it is true, real Journalism has sadly died! Read Christ Malones artical on the ABC New Website. Perhaps then you will get the truth about yourself.

    I'm not even reading the article because I DON'T care what someone's beliefs are. I care what politicians think on the issues and whether they represent ME as a voter. Religion or lack of it is irrelevant.

    Why isn't the media talking about the racism against McCain? When only 10% of blacks are voting for McCain versus 90% for Obama, I would say that is racist.

      90% of African Americans voted for B. Clinton, both times. Was that racist, too?

    Why are you more concerned about Palin's faith - which is an open book. - than Obama's affliliations such as Wright, Ayers and Khalidi. We can't seem to touch Obama or Biden because we could get accused of racism. What about discrimination against someone's religion or in McCain's case his age. My husband & I attend an Assembly of God and you can check our their websites and found anything you need to know. Thank God for FOX NEWS - fair and balanced! Shame on you Newsweek!

      THANK YOU! I couldnt agree more! Why are Newsweek and the rest of the elite media protecting Obama yet producing conjecture pieces like this at a lightening pace? Why isnt Newsweek condeming the LA Times for refusing the release the video of Obama at a party for a well documented anti-semite and PLO mouthpiece? That is newsworthy! Why not a book review of " The Dreams My Father" by Sen Obama himself. You want a peak into what this man really thinks, buy the book and read it aloud. It will do more than raise questions about his beliefs.

    Pentacostalism is not really out of the mainstream of Christianity. The beliefs are no different from the other Reformed branches of Christianity (Protestantism). As far as exorcism and demons go, this can also be found in Catholicism.

    Even the Catholic Church has what is called a charismatic movement which believes in the intercession of the Spirit. I doubt Palin's Pentacostal beliefs are no more extreme than Catholic Charismaticism. The difference between Pentacostalism or Charismaticism and the rest of Christianity is an accent on the emotions. However, when emotions come into play in religion as in other aspects of life problems can surface.

      All of Catholicism and Christianity believes in the intercession of the Spirit. The Charismatic Renewal has only revived what existed in the Church from the beginning (see Acts of the Apostles), so the Spirit is not limited to movements within the Church.

    Aren't there enough religious zealots around the world? The nuns taught me that if you weren't Roman Catholic, you couldn't go to heaven. Is that still true? Is my god better / more powerful than your god? Is God on my side and not yours? Haven't these issues caused us enough trouble? Can't we live moral and ethical lives without God's help?

      Hillbilly, If you were raised Roman Catholic, then I understand where you are coming from. You may live a moral and decent life, but that would do you no good at the time of your death. You would have had to live a righteous life before God, and according to the Bible, no human can do that. That is why a person has to accept what Christ did before we can be truly righteous before God.

      Many people do and say things in the name of religion, God, etc , that have nothing at all to do with God.

      Christ is the example because he suffered and died for mankind, and then rose again to signify his defeat over satan, so that one day, we can live eternally with him in heaven.

      How do you tell when someone is just using religion for their own purposes? God is Love. The type of love that is willing to sacrifice for others, as demonstrated by Christ suffering and dying for our sins. If that type of love is not behind the words or actions.........well, there you go.

      Well, who is going stand up for the poor, the needy, the middle class and bring about more peace and unity. These two candidates stand for just the opposite. To only go against abortions and gays is simply not enough. God's #1 commandment is Love. Palin and McCain are simply NOT promoting that. Their stances are simply greed, selfishness, crookedness and deceit and just because the say they are against abortions and gay rights is NOT nowhere near enough of what this country needs. Those two issues only has been typical what has put the Republicans over the top and have won the elections so many times and look at where our country is - divided, economically dry, morally corrupt and way off when it comes to our heavenly Father's desires for His people. Think about that!
