this is what I am afraid of with mccain and palin,
..I was in the A/G church for years and this is a REGULAR Sunday Morning ritual ..
MILLIONS go to the altar and have deacons and deaconess' pray over you for deliverance from satan and or his minions. PLUS THEY TAKE THEIR PASTORS WORD AS IF IT IS JESUS STANDING THERE TALKING TO THEM!
I left when factions started to talk about JOELS army of beleivers rising up and taking on the world and getting it ready for Jesus. see in their escatology Jesus cannot come here and rapture them until there is a revivla in this land. then satan will be driven back and the force of the righteous will win ..they also do not believe they will see the man of sin raised up by satan, but some aspects of penticostals do believe that theycan thwart satan before he and his standard bearer makes his final assult on earth ..
ANYONE WHO CLAIMS THEY DO NOT BELIEVE AS THEM IS THE ENEMY AND ANTI SOMETHING.
IT is sad ..I am a christian who has been called "fallen away "because I am not into their extremeism ...BELEIVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU I HAVE "CLOSE FRIENDS" WHO WILL NOT TALK TO ME ..BUT CLAIM TO LOVE JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sick of hearing the comments about Muslim faith. If one is monotheistic (definition: believing in one superior being....God, Yahweh, Jehovah, Buddah, etc.) what does it matter? There is nothing in the Constitution of The United States of America that says otherwise. I keep hearing about these so-called Muslim ties. But no one has backed up anything. Furthermore, so what if he has Muslim friends....so do I! I also have friends that are Hindu and Buddhist. Isn't that what America is all about....diversity? If Sarah Palin believes she is under a spell or needs an exorcism, who are we to judge? The fact of the matter is who is qualified to get us out of 8 years of mess.I want a President that is intelligent enough to bring our nation out of the problems that 8 years of stupid has caused. Senator Obama is the person.

For those of you who are so "Christian", why are you judging Senator Obama? Isn't that what Christianity is all about? Judge not, lest ye be judged. When the woman who was accused of adultry, was going to be stoned, who saved her and said: Go and sin no more? That was Jesus. Would Jesus condone the rock throwing that Senator Obama has to endure from narrow-minded hypocrites?

There are Christians on both sides of the political spectrum. That's America. And we have been caught up with accusations, innuendos, and flat out lies on both sides of the political aisle. I wish we could be "caught up with the Lord" to see just what He sees as it relates to our current political crisis. I am praying that whoever wins will do well. Period.

The religious views that both of Palin's churches have are not "extreme". Rick Warren's church (and many of the other "mega-churches" have the same views. Both TBN & CBN founders have the same religious views. Several Christian TV networks have the same "world view". To refer to pentecostal views as being a minority and extreme reflects either a personal prejudice or a lack of real facts about which you are talking. The Charismatic type churches are the fastest growing church groups in the country and are a big factor in the reduction in membership of the so called "traditional" churches.

"And then he offers this cryptic blessing: "In the name of Jesus. Every form of witchcraft is what you rebuke." The laying of hands on the Alaska politician, the invoking of Jesus and witches in the same sentence???what the heck is going on?"
Newsweek, please do not put inexperienced writers to write about a subject they quite obviously do not know/understand. When he said "In Jesus' Name", it can be likened to stamping the prayer by the authority of Jesus. When you are at your job and your boss asks you to deliver news to someone and tells you "tell them I said so", it is the equivalent of when people say "In Jesus' Name". By the AUTHORITY of Jesus. Furthermore, he wasn't "invoking" witches....he was rebuking them. For those non-scholars, rebuking means to criticize/reprimand. He was in a sense praying for her protection. And for those who will write me off as a Palin supporter...think again. It has nothing to do with politics and ALL to do with God.

Pentecostal Religioin is an apostolic Christian experience. The word above "rebuke all forms of witchcraft" mean that you cast off all evil spirits as directed in the BIBLE. COME ON PEOPLE, they weren't invoking Jesus and Witchcraft, they were calling on Jesus to rebuke witchcraft. People need to get informed about all the details before writing their opinions.

Sarah does not believ in hanging out with american terrorists, with anti-american pastors, with anti- Israel professors, with Marxists professors, with communist believers, with black panther groupies, with Saudi advisors, and then hide all those associations as "Just Neighborly folK:
Oh yes and Big Mistake with take the TAKE THE DAYOFF it would cost the economy tons and may jeopordize peoples jobs (even though he would then give them welfare some people like thier jobs)

    • Posted By: bbrocks @ 10/29/2008 6:25:26 AM

No, but she believes in hanging out with successionists, and even married one. Oh wait, they are terrorists.

      • Posted By: ladyskada @ 10/29/2008 9:49:30 AM

Do you even know the definition of "Marxist"? Or are you just quoting the key talking points from Palin's crib sheets?

  • Posted By: chggoc @ 10/29/2008 9:49:02 AM

Yet another video slamming McCain/Palin... big surprise... where is the video from the LA times regarding Obama and Ayers at a home fundraiser? The media should be ashamed of themselves, and demand that the LA Times make public that video... or stop with the McCain/Palin bashing.

asking you guys to understand anything religious or anything having to do with religion is like asking a lay person to do surgery or diagnose and treat somebody who is sick. you can't and won't be able to understand this because all you do is make fun of somebodies beliefs. what if she was catholic or methodist or lutheran would it bring as big a chuckle to you as the fact she is affiliated with the assembly of god religious belief, or better yet what if she was muslim or even atheistic like you guys are. what then?

  • Posted By: djzap @ 10/29/2008 9:48:45 AM

going after people who hunt innocent women as witches..this is true but I didnt get the hunting part of it,. What I did get was Rev Wright spewing racial hate against white people..not just innocent women but all white people. Obama was fine with it for 20 years and then said he wasnt paying attention. Great selling point for the future leader of the US a job that requires attention more than every 20 years or so. Then there is Farrakhan how about Ayers? He will just blow up whoever he thinks is guilty..its okay though because Nobama said so..it doesnt count who gets hurt as long as he was a little guy at the time. Think he agrees with Manson then? Get real..

  • Posted By: BigR @ 10/29/2008 9:48:41 AM

Oh Boy ! Another left wing media Palin attack from Newsweek. We all know Obamas religious beliefs, he listened to "God Damn America" for 20 years. Newsweek won't bring that up, will they.

The truth of the matter is, no one, Christian or not should not read an article like this and take it as fact. I encourage everyone to search out the truth for yourselves. This is an article written by Newsweek, whether you like or dislike Palin you should be able to see that this is a very slanted article based upon the personal feelings this reporter has towards Christians.
Yes, as a Christian I know that this article contains many lies but I also know that the Word of God told us this would happen, so I'm not surprised by it. A plea to fellow Christians out there, please don't respond immediately to this article. Take time to digest it, there's so much anger in some of these responses that is not necessary. We are supposed to be representing Christ in every area of our lives, that means when we post comments as well. Let's not reinforce the world's views of Christianity and use wisdom when responding to such articles.
One final thing to Christians, read the Bible and see for yourselves what God says about some of the big issues of this election and then vote in accordance to what you know to be Truth. Be blessed.

You know. I doubt there are denominations in heaven. But I do believe the bible to be the word of God. Many people confuse religion and faith. I used to be "religious" however, I'm glad to have my faith in Jesus Christ! There is a difference and it comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Some may call me a fanatic, but I wonder if they truly know what they are talking about. Seek God and ask Him what you don't know. Read the Bible. I heard an acronym once that said BIBLE stands for Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth. There's some truth in that. Once you've experienced faith and it's confirmed by the bible no one can take that away from you!
The United States is in unchartered waters, but historically, reading the bible, nations and countries have wandered from God before and look what happen to them. Pulling God out of our government and schools has placed us on a slippery slope. Satan is very subtle in his approach and techniques. Step back and look at the last century and what has changed. I fear for my children. The media and TV, what my kids have access to vs. even my childhood. Yes we have grown in many ways, but morally we have back slidden.
The founding fathers of our country based our country's values on God. Yes we allow "freedom of religion", but personally I think the country should get back to running the country as "One nation under God..." and if you want to practice another religion within our borders then we allow it, but don't let this affect how the United States of America makes it's decisions and charts it's course. For without God we are and will be nothing!
As for Sarah Palin - Praise the Lord for her faith may the love of God be witnessed through her. Way to go Sarah!

Why do we see all this stuff about Palin and not about Obama's running mate. I honestly don't think either canidate is worthy of being president but we have to choose the lesser of two evils. I don't really follow all this political stuff but I haven't seen much about Obama's running mate and am not really sure who it is. Will he be anther Dan Quail? Or is all this news about McCain and Palin Newsweeks way of backing Obama?

  • Posted By: phenix11 @ 10/29/2008 9:47:42 AM

Here's an issue: why are the "Top Ten Politics" stories (on the right) negatively reflecting the Mccain ticket, but positively reflecting the Obama Camp? How about some non-biased news reporting.

Ok I have to jump in on this discussion mostly on Ljohnson78's comments that "the end is near". No the end is not near. All the signs Christians believe in have been happening for millions of years. There has been massive earth quakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other massive earth rattling events millions of years before Jesus was born, and have occurred every year since he died. Every generation of Christians dies surprised that their savior has not come and "raptured" them. Look Christ said that he would come like a thief in the night. Thieves in the night are a SURPRISE, so stop wasting your life looking for an event that was promised to happen when you weren't looking. The events in the book of Revelation describe the death of a star, the whole new heaven new earth thing, ours will be healthy for a few more million years. As far as witch craft, hexes, and curses, if Palin and Pentecostals weren't part of a major religion most people would write this kind of fear off as paranoid delusion and recommend a doctor. Even then Jesus never mentioned witch craft, in fact Jesus never talked about fear, but about love and compassion and helping your fellow man. Not to insult the Christian faith but you would do well to stop preaching fear and hate (even hate of sin) and start living for love as christ

    • Posted By: ralan98 @ 10/29/2008 9:47:35 AM

That was in interesting response you wrote. You do realize that bible believing christians don't believe we've been here for millions of years don't you? You are right about Jesus coming like a theif in the night.

      Brilliant deduction! Bravo you scholar!
You forgot to include the new Jewish Nation (fig tree)
      The Revived Roman Empire (EU)
Along with things "waxing worse" just to name a few!

Do you think these "new and improved" generations are getting BETTER in your educated eyes?
Turn off the Bill Maher and actually study something before you open your mouth. You look very simple and uninformed

"Depart from me ye cursed - for I know not your name" - don't let this be you!
      "You shall know the season's"

I really wish i could have that same "anything goes" pompus arrogance you float around with - Where is YOUR SOLUTION oh great scholar?

So typical of liberal media to be scornful about one's beliefs, but notice that this liberal media has all but dropped the scary, outright WRONG values and beliefs that Obama not only "had" but "still has".

This liberal media will do anything to bring down the moral character of any Christian leader. Shame on MSNBC, shame on liberal media, shame on us as Americans.

Spinner, these who are they questions are petty. Who is Senator Obama? My granddaughter has spent more time in wet diapers than he has in the Senate before deciding he is qualified to be Commander and Chief our our military and run this country. Give me a break! He is going to run us into a third world nation.
