Ob ama did NOT swear in to Congress on the Koran, that was Rep. Keith Ellison from Minnesota. Barack Hussein Obama is actually the name of an American citizen, so I guess that makes his name an American name. His message is about tolerance, peace, unity and hope for the future. Hmm, who does that sound like? It sounds to me like a devout Christian, who was raised Christian and just happens to be worldly and intelligent enough to be tolerant and respectful of other beliefs.

    Dear writer ,
Your personal bias makes you look like the worst writer in the world. You lose credibility right away in any thing you say by showing your hatred and lack of knowledge about Documented History . Dont think the bible is credible ? Thats ok there is plenty of extra biblical transcripts out there backing up the bibles history. You seriously need to give up writing, until you can learn to stay neutral.

If you are going to write an article at least do some research about your subject and try to do a better job of keeping you obvious bias out of the manuscript. The quote from the sermon about a chosen generation ans a royal priesthood is not from the pastor it is from scripture, something the author of this article knows little or nothing about. Pitiful, this is simply pitiful.

Where is the video of Obama's meeting with questionable figures that the LA Times has? Report on that. Afterall that is MUCH more important that what happened at Sarah Palin's church. At least that pastor was not preaching HATE.

You would not know hate if it slapped you in the face. You simply do not understand black people and the Rev. Wrights that sometimes exist in the black churches. Hatred is what is being created on the political trail, which has been taught since this country was established. This is being allowed and perpetuated by Palin and McCain, not Obama nor Rev. Wright. This is the standard way that Republicans as well as some Democratic politicians run their political campaigns. However, Barack nor his campaign is doing this, and as a African-American Democrat, married to a Caucasian Republican, I can honestly say, blacks are less likely to promote racism the way it is being done today and the way this country was found and made what it is today. So, please let us not sing Palin's praises too loud. As a Christian myself who Love God and believe in some very similar things as Palin's church teaches, Palin is talking out of both sides of neck and has done some ruthless, selfish, crooked things as Governor and on the campaign trail!

I for one certainly appreciate Sarah Palin's strong faith and her determination that her foundation of faith will not be shaken by anyone. We need more people to have this kind of faith. And by the way according to Bibical prophesy we are living in the end times. Our country was built on trust in God...what in the world has happened?????

Nut case. Jim Jones in Guyana and David Koresh in Waco were no more wacko that Palin.

Good to see that the stone age is still alive and well in America.

She believes men walked with dinosaurs and jesus is going to come down out of the sky riding a cloud and save all of the believers.

I have a bridge for sale people.

This writer obviously can't read. The prayer is to rebuke (condemn) every form of withcraft not condone or support it. Talk about inflamatory writing.....

    • Posted By: mooomooo @ 10/29/2008 9:31:56 AM

No, the article makes the point that she believes witchcraft even exists (not everyone does).

This story reminded me of a particularly disturbing quote from Palin during her interview with Charles Gibson.

Gibson: And under the NATO treaty, wouldn't we then have to go to war if Russia went into Georgia?

Palin: Perhaps so. I mean this is the agreement when you are a NATO ally...

The thing about this is that no other politician would answer such a hypothetical in this way, talking about going to war with Russia without qualification (she later did add some, but not even Reagan at the height of the Evil Empire days would have uttered this sentence).

I at first thought this "merely" indicated that she was unaware of the implications of going to war with Russia. There is a reason that the Cold War remained cold all the way up to the collapse of the Soviet Union, and that we only fought the Soviets through proxies during that entire time. The reason of course is that Russia had, and still possesses, thousands of nuclear warheads mounted on ICBMs and submarine launched ballistic and cruise missiles. Enough to destroy not only the United States, but the entire world several times over.

Now I'm wondering if the reason is that she just doesn't care all that much is this - her religion has removed her fear of nuclear war. It certainly has removed her fear of humans damaging the environment - she obviously believes God will take care of any little problems caused by puny humans.

There is a much higher than comfortable chance that if McCain is elected that she will replace him as President before his term is over. And there's a possibility that she could find herself in just the kind of crisis that Gibson talks about, with her hand on the button. There would doubtless be some advisers surrounding her at that moment screaming for her to push it. The thought that her reasoning at that point, unleavened by any foreign policy expertise whatsoever, could be influenced by a religious fantasy about the "End Days" should scare the daylights out of any rational person. Yes, we have a Duke professor here saying that all this mumbo jumbo is just status quo for Alaska, but that assumes these people do not really believe what they say. I'd rather take their word for it. Yes, they're not all stocking up on ammo (although some are), but none of them actually have the power to usher in the apocalypse - Palin would.

We actually could be looking at the possibility, to date examined mostly in cheesy made for tv movies, that the only planet with intelligent life for thousands of light years could be turned into a radioactive wasteland due to a crazy myth based on a sloppy interpretation of the Book of Revelation.

And the media are still obsessing about Palin's wardrobe?

The Bible tells us that there are demons on here trying to negatively influence us. Almost every time Jesus healed in the Bible he "Cast off demons and healed the sick". He then sent His followers out to do greater works than He did. Witchcraft falls under the heading of "demons" and there is nothing wierd about casting off demonic influence from a person.

Where is the story about Obama's religion?

    • Posted By: jeremyfive @ 10/29/2008 9:31:23 AM

Where has there NOT been a story on Obama's religion in the press? Why is Sarah Palin being given a free pass on her bizarre religious rituals, fanatical practices and out-of-the-mainstream beliefs. Her book-banning efforts were also largely directed toward the publication of a rival church.

      Bizarre---off the chart.

Obama's church is not comparable to these loonies. (My own church has had many pastors, and I would not wish to be called to account for the personal beliefs of any of them. I go to worship God, not the pastor.)

Christianity as a major influence in American politics is, in principal, not so different than the ideals of radical islam being a focal point in government affairs in some arabic countries.

And THAT is exactly why it is so dangerous. This country was built on NOT doing that. Public religeon is poisen, and it all feeds the same psychosis, the fear of hopelessness and dying.

All religion is humanity's blighted curse...

Enter Your CommentI don't think all religion is. Some religions don't push what they believe on people. They feel it's a personal business. There are even some christians who don't. My husband is a christian. I am not. The easiest way to make him belligerantly angry is to proselytize (sp?) at him or me. He hates it. It's just the people that have the dominionist absolutist kind of mindset that make religion dangerous. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them. I think it has to do with self esteem issues.

  • Posted By: interest2008 @ 10/29/2008 9:30:28 AM

Having a set of core values and morals that start with a belief in a Supreme Being or God is a good thing. Why does the media think this is a bad thing? Why do they continually try to "out" people of faith. Belief in witches, what do they mean by that statement? That someone might believe that "witches" can cure some people, that there is "white magic" or "black magic" in the world? Probably most people would acknowledge that there are forces of good and evil in the world. Unless a candidate for public office professes the desire to convert other people to their religious beliefs with the use of their public power, their beliefs are a private matter and should not be under scrutiny by the media. Her policies as a public servant and what she has stood for as a public servant should be all that we need to know about how she would govern as Vice President. If there are issues that she has supported that the media wants to expose and discuss that is what we should be getting in the news from the media.

I am amazed at stories like this saying that extreme people believe in God and end times. I guess if you believe in God and his word, the bible, you are extreme according to articles like this. I believe in God and his word and I also believe that every day we are a day closer to the return of Jesus. I don't know if it will be in my lifetime or many generations from now or tomorrow, but it is coming. I hadn't thourht about it, but Alaska would be a good place to be if you are left behind.

Do not listen to the polls. Get out and vote and encourage everyone you know to vote for McCain/Palin. I believe many of these polls are a deliberate attempt to keep McCain voters home. An example is in PA. If Obama is so far ahead there why is he devoting so much time to the state. These articles are a blatant attempt to discredit Palin thus the ticket. When McCain joked about Keith Obermann holding up a sign "mission accomplished" he should have included most of the media.

    • Posted By: SeekPeace08 @ 10/29/2008 9:30:19 AM

I haven't voted yet but I have been told by several people that it appears that there
are more Obama supporters out voting than McCain supporters.........If we don't vote,
we have nobody to blame if our candidate does not win except ourselves and those
who didn't exercise their right to VOTE. We all want our rights protected and our
constitution upheld but where are we when our right to VOTE is within our grasp and we
let it slip away as a right we didn't care much about.

I agree with Singer82, the liberal media has so slanted this race that one might begin to believe that Obama is the next messiah for America. I have a suggestion, why don' t you all take some time and research, with an open mind, the possibility that there is something to the faith of McCain and Palin. I believe that the liberal media is afraid to even consider that there is truth in Christianity because then they would be held accountible for their actions. There would actually be moral absolutes instead of this 'wishy-washy' gray state in which they now live. Report the absolute truth, not just your version of it.

It is a shame and a disgrace that America forces a public official or political candidate to have to choose to attend a more watered down church environment just to make it in the public arena. When will Americans realize that we can have nothing, can do nothing, and can be nothing of eternal significance without faith in God? It is obvious that the writers of this article do not know anything about the Bible, God or prayer; hence their use of the words "he offers this cryptic blessing: in the name of Jesus." "In the name of Jesus"is the way God has designed for believers to get anything from Him in prayer. Jesus said "Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you." What was going on that day with Gov. Palin was right in the sight of God, and understood and accepted as right by all who believe the scriptures. Americans who do not believe, adhere to, and trust in God and the Bible are the ones who are causing the problems. When our forefathers wrote into the Constitution that there should be a separation of church and state, it meant that they did not want state telling the church what and how to believe, not that the church should never have anything to say about what the state was doing. Again I say that it is a shame how far America has moved from God and the Bible. Remember, it is America that has moved, not God.
