YOU ARE VILLAGE IDIOTS. OF ALL THE SERIOUS THINGS GOING ON IN THIS ELECTION, YOU WASTE PEOPLES TIME WITH TRASH.

  • Posted By: synchar @ 10/29/2008 9:28:35 AM

This is just stupid...really...Not only is this a lame article...But it is filled with stupid facts. First off, when you claim that this paster envoked both Jesus and witchs in the same sentince, thats crap. He was saying Jesus rebukes witches. That hardly sounds to me like envoking them.

Furthermore, witches do exist. Wiccans call them selves witches. So there. Look it up if you don't beleive me.

An article like this, so close to the election, with no reference to the Obama-Wright 20-year connection? This is why so many "main stream media" outfits like this one won't be around to try this next election: http://www.jossip.com/newsweek-starts-to-show-blood-20081028/

Someone wrote that evangelicals want to put faith into every area of our lives. Rubbish. They want to remind the nation just how much faith has been a part of our lives. Tom Brokaw stated in so many words how we "the media" missed the hatred of those radical Islamists. When I read that I knew where it came from. The medias influence on sequestering the role of religion in American public life. Well evangelicals, the impact of the movie "The Passion of the Christ" and other religious influences "turned America upside down" to remind people religion is a viable part of our lives. Government should protect this viable aspect just as much as it is supposed to protect the franchise to vote! And when the "right" to believe the way one chooses to as it relates to their conscience is denied American no longer ceases to exist! So watch what you say about the role of religion in our public square, not that you do no have that right, but what it can lead to. That is an abolition of freedom of religion. We retain our right to disagree, dissent, but never to deny.

Those of you who claim to know God and love Jesus, fine if that's what you believe. But to those of us non-believers, we don't really care in believing your nonsense that you keep thinking we all should believe in. However, our country was built on religious freedom so believe what you want. Just because I don't believe in a God (yes, I am atheist,) doesn't mean I am a bad person. I believe I am the one who controls my behavior and destiny . Why do you Christians think your religion is the only one that matters??? The majority of the world are not Christian, so does that mean they are bad people? I think not. Also, before you start slinging the mud around take a look at your own lives and get the facts straight!

What the pastor said by those two sentences you quote is that Jesus rebukes witchcraft. And, in the Bible, Jesus does rebuke demons and casts out demons, so it follows that Jesus would rebuke all evil and that includes witchcraft. The pastor is NOT invoking Jesus and witches in the same sentence.... read it again! Do not misconstrue this!

I am not a supporter of Sarah, but the mixed messages she sends is what has everyone confused. I applaud her for her beliefs, but she must practice what she preaches. As a person, she seems genuine, I'll give her that, but she is not ready yet for the highest office in the land. She should stop defending her daughter's pregnancy. Underage pregnancy, though a fact of life in the 2000's, is not excused. Where was her guidance as a mother? and why decide to get married when she was selected by McCain? Usually the marriage "choice" is made immediately after the pregnancy is discovered, not five months later. I will not question her ideals as a Christian, the Word of God is right-on..whether we believe it or not. So Sarah, stand for what you believe, many of us here believe with you.

    • Posted By: Deb79 @ 10/29/2008 9:27:11 AM

Perhaps in the old days people jumped to get married when pregnancy was discovered, but if you check around, pregnancy does not automatically mean a trip to the altar today. And those who decide to get married are usually waiting until the baby is born. I wouldn't want my kid to rush to marry, especially when the pregnancy hormones are raging. Better to wait and allow a level head to make a decision. Plus, the parents MAY not want their children to marry and are biding their time. Are you a parent? If you are then you know kids rarely follow the parents leading in the teen years. They usually prefer to do the opposite.

Once again, you guys need to get some new material...Do you really think she can be with her daughter 24/7 to control her actions?? Her daughter made that choice on her own, she made a mistake. But Sarah, as a mother is still standing by her daughter and supporting her. All families go through tough times with their children this kind of thing just makes them stronger as a family. Leave the daughter ALONE!!

unless someone is translating for the preacher ,via a voice over, it is obvious that the commentary is dubbed....you can hear him in the background ! is this a valid resource? or should we believe that Newsweek puts up viral video from youtube as 'Real news'?

Sarah Palin's beliefs and faith should be respected and it's her right as a citizen and a human to celebrate and explore her life and reason for existence within whatever ideology makes sense to her. However, though that is her right as an individual it is also our right as the American citzenry to inquire about and analyze the reigious beliefs that she ardently embraces. If Palin were to become president and at the helm of our country, her decisions will effect our lives and our history. If she is a believer of the end-times scenario and also believes she has been called by God as a chosen warrior to assist in the ushering in of these times , this may very well indeed color her decision making. These are serious things to consider and this should be done with an open mind and critical thinking. It would be really helpful to know more about how she truly feels about end-times and her role as a Christian in a leadership position.

I too am a firm believer in God and have to ammend Palin for her courage to stand for God. It is true!! The end times are near!! The earth was created by God and will be destroyed by God. God Bless America!!!

Yes, she says she believes in God and I know in her mind she probably does. However, her actions in Alaska are extremely questionable. Her deceitfulness and the way she runs her governorship, etc., has proven to me (a God fearing believer, whose church teaches very similar to that of Palin's) that she says one thing and obviously lives and does something altogether different. This is just not right. No one is perfect except Jesus, but this woman, has some real problems from the Christian perspective. So, lets not sing her praises too loud. Then, we become as big of a hypocrit as she is!

You are a "True Believer" but you think God destroys the Earth? How about the return of Jesus to reign on earth for a millenium. (That's 1,000 years) Maybe you should pick that Bible up and read it, Sunshine, instead of allowing some propogandist preacher fill you with false teachings.

What an appalling and completely irrelevant prying into Sarah Palin's personal life. Liberals, including most of the media and most certainly Newsweek, cry out for the separation of church and state, until bringing a politiician's religious beliefs into the political arena servers their purpose. Or at least, they believe it suits their purpose. This is a microcosm of what has been wrong with the Democratic party for the last decade. It is predominated by the ideology of metropolitan elitists who have no idea that the vast majority of us in the rest of the country share a different morality, a set of core values that is founded on belief in God. It's worth noting that even at this late stage, when the issue has clearly been fleshed out, Newsweek continues to misquote Palin's comments on Iraq. What she said is that we should and I paraphrase "pray that the Iraq war is a task from God." She wasn't declaring it a Holy war, she was simply praying for assurance that our cause was just in the eyes of God.

When one chooses political life and wants OUR support in their endeavors, the previously off limits personal life is no longer. Obama's personal church life is obviously relevant right ? ABOSLUTELY.
They don't take objection to all of the candidates religious affiliations being dissected. It is relevant,
especially as we are in a WAR with Iraq over radical beliefs that at their core are based on their beliefs,
      distorted as they may be.

Your article fails to mention that many Christian denominations including the Assemblies of God believe that Jesus Christ will remove all "born again" Christians from this earth in an event called the "Rapture" before a final seven year period called the Great Tribulation. The Battle of Armaggedon takes place at the end of this period between the armies of heaven and those of the Antichrist. There's no point in storing up food or ammunition if you're not going to be here for the Tribulation.

Ya know what? Sometimes I wish that too, cause I'm going and I am getting sick of all the liberal media biased and how you are all shoving YOUR agendas down our Christian throats. We speak loudly because we have too, you won't let us live in peace. Please remember that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jeus is Lord...whether you chose to or not. I know you don't believe in God or perhaps hate Him...Please reconsider!! John 3:16

Amazing. Simply amazing. So sad. How can it be that a Christian is a nut and then a supporter of terrorist, killing babies, a socialist government and a racist be held up with such asteem (only in our new "changed America). So sad that on The Day of Judgment that the writer of this article will remember this article and how wrong they were. God help them. Sign me up for the nut team!

maybe every one would like it and accept it better if she was worshiping satan? In a black cloak black candles everywhere sacrificing people to statan. maybe thats what everyone wants to see? to the comment below seperation from church and state is from the catholic church having all the power over the state (monarchy) to control all their decisions like in the past but like everything else everything is up to interpretation its what I want it to be to better suite my life even though it is in black and white LOL!!
besides it is her private life and NONE OF OUR BUSINESS! Though, I dont agree with her for I think she is very charasmatic and does things for her own will and not God's like many of us do but that is her free will of choice. Yes, I respect her but doesn't mean I have to like her, remember that everyone!

  • Posted By: noreptilicans @ 10/29/2008 9:25:52 AM

I don't care for Sarah Palin but I don't think her religeous beliefs should be on the table. What she believes is her business. The Bush years taunted religion and made it part of the political process. The religeous nuts elected Dubya because he is spiritual. He's a complete idiot but he's spiritual. And look at where we're at. The Republicans use religion as a tool so deal with it when it backfires.

    Goodmorning Lisa and Andrew,
Do America a favor and get a clue, before you write articles in this manner.
I have always been a reader of your publication, but your change in style has me believing you are turning into another CNN, and becoming another liberal rag. Always believed that you offer a fair and honest reporting of the world events. You have sunk to a new low. Disappointed and disgusted in your journalism.

Where is the story about Obama's religion?

  • Posted By: mommomfor1 @ 10/29/2008 9:25:24 AM

Your reporter needs to go back to Reporting 101. ALL Pentecostal and Apostolic churches have these same beliefs if they follow the Book of Acts, not just the one in Wasilla. It's not a hidden cult in Alaska. And if you follow Bible prophesy, there is an end time. But I looked in the back of the book, and we win!

  • Posted By: ferd956 @ 10/29/2008 9:25:10 AM

"In the name of Jesus. Every form of witchcraft is what you rebuke." The laying of hands on the Alaska politician, the invoking of Jesus and witches in the same sentence???what the heck is going on? - How do you go from "Every form of witchcraft is what you rebuke" to ' Invoking Jesus and witches in the same sentence"? The last time I checked rebuking and invoking had exactly opposite meanings. It is this kind of slanted media coverage this country does not need. I also agree that Sarah Palin's beliefs and faith should be respected. Our country was founded by people of faith and beliefs.

    More guilt by association.

News flash...A photo has surfaced on C-SPAN that shows Senator Obama, Senator Harry Reid, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in the company of Convicted Felon Senator Ted Stevens. This damning revelation shows the participants laughing together at an unspecified Washington D.C. location. The Liberal Media had tried to supress the release of the photo. Lawyers from Fox News forced its release.
