It's funny how Rev. Wright gets splashed all over the place, but when people call for Palin's religious beliefs, the right-wing nut jobs want privacy.

  • Posted By: eaglwlker12 @ 10/29/2008 9:24:45 AM

If these idiots woulde spend half as much time snooping into Obama shadys past as they do Palins clean past this Country would be a lot better off.

  • Posted By: mooomooo @ 10/29/2008 9:24:39 AM

So THIS is why there hasn't been any attacks on Obama lateley for the Rev. Wright issue. It might bring up the issue of her wacko religion. I think religion should be left out of politics..this is the USA , right? I like what Colin Powell said about Obama. That, no he is not a Muslim, but if he was, so what?? Is that so wrong. BTW, I am not a muslim either, I just don't have a problem with good, people of any faith. Its the bad ones that worry me.

i think the presence of religion has caused much of the hate and bigotry of this world.. belief in something that there is no substantial proof of!

Re: <<Separation of Church and State (if you knew anything about it) was to PROTECT THE CHURCH FROM THE STATE, not the other way around. Do you recall pre-revionist history class of why people in England and Europe left their lands for America? Religious persecution and over taxation by the British Government of the time. Over taxation & religious persecution.....hmmmm see any parallels with today? >>

Actually, it was intended to work both ways. "In God We Trust" was not put on coins until the latter 1800s. That is when religious wackos held sway, like the inept and equally wacko Bush administration has over the last 8 years. There is no government regulation of religion in the U.S. You snake worshippers can do as you please in Appalachia.

Amazing that such an article would come out just days before the election, yet no similar article about Barack Obama's 20 year relationship with his racist, heretical pastor Jeremiah Wright, or his long-term relationship with Ayers. Needless to say, this just adds fuel to the fire on the "liberal media" label.

Wow! this is a great subject...look how many came out of the woodwork?? Good move Newsweek...you accomplished exactly what good journalism does, agitate the thoughts.

Actions speak louder than words. Govenor Palin's daughter is an unmarried pregnant woman at the age of 17, not even one year older than statutory rape age. Having sex before you are married is sexual immorality, just like being homosexual. The trouble with the human race is the we rate sins. Some sins are worse than others. God does not rate sins, a sinner is a sinner in the eyes of God. I think the trouble is we are all just a bunch of sinners throwing stones at other sinners, and we know what God and Jesus think of that. Jesus teaches us in Mark, chapter 10, any man or woman who divorces their spouse and marries another commits adultery. Why would I vote for a man who has helped destroy the sanctity of marraige and could not keep his words to God, to love and cherish, for better or worse till death do you part. It's funny how many people forget when you divorce, you break a contract with God. I like finish by saying, just because you call youself a Christian doesn,t mean squat. Jesus warns of false prophets and teachers he says of these people in Matthew, chapter 15, "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain, their teachings are but rules of man." Jesus also teaches in Matthew, chapter 7, "Not everyone who says me, "Lord Lord" will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day,"Lord Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and preform miracles?" Then I will tellthwm plainly, " I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"

i thank that obama is also a muslim some one that will not say the pledge to uor flag is not amercian and will not but is hand on the bible to be sworn in... will not get my vote and i hope you all do the same

  • Posted By: debivecchio @ 10/29/2008 9:23:07 AM

Just like the liberal media. They never brought up about Obama's slip up on ABC news when he mentioned his MUSLIM Faith but they will do this to Sarah. If they investigate Biden's past as much as they do Palin's Obama would slip in the polls for sure.

  • Posted By: brianosu @ 10/29/2008 9:22:49 AM

This is clearly another way for the media to tear down Palin's character. Why aren't they playing the audio tapes of Obama talking about socialism and Rev. Wright preaching about hatred towards white people.

  • Posted By: donne houston @ 10/29/2008 5:58:27 AM

I do not support Sarah Palin politically. But I do understand her relationship of faith. It is true that the mainsteam of our society do not understand her belief system, that does not mean she is a nut. There are matters discussed here about Sarah"s faith, none of you have a clue about. I challenge everyone of you to ask God is Sarah Palin is a nut.

    • Posted By: floridacadman @ 10/29/2008 6:05:55 AM

I asked him, he just called me back and said yes, shes a nut. Now go wave a chicken bone over a candle or something, or whatever you people do. But stay out of politics!

      • Posted By: fisherofmen @ 10/29/2008 6:40:35 AM

Y'know, floridacadman, you are exactly what is wrong with this world. That people with NO religious belief are so pig-headed that you don't even try to find out what makes this world what it is. The Bible is MY rock and my foundation. I have been an Assembly of God member (currently Church of God, both Pentecostal and both believe in the Rapture of God's family of believers before the Tribulation (read the book of Revelation to explain the Tribulation and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 regarding the Rapture). These things WILL happen because God Almighty said they would. "nuff said.

You mean to tell me that "Rev" Wright isn't an issue? If he were white ( and spouting the same kind of bile from a church's pulpit), this election would be over. You know it!

  • Posted By: Smittyjr1 @ 10/29/2008 9:22:17 AM

You know it is real funny how just a short time ago many of us and you pointed the finger at Rev. Wright for what he said, as well as try to bring in Mr. Obama's religious beliefs in to question. As I read some of your comments Now about seperation of Church and State. You can't have it both ways. This is simply another attack at what each political representative believes. But, lets take a closer look at what is the facts as you see them play out. One person has a family loving wife, kids that love him attends church, has never given in to public ploys has been lied on talked about and placed in situation in and out of the media but nothing has overcame this person. The other Hunts wild game for sport, uses money under and over the table with no restraint, fires family members for divorcing other members of the family, has a unmarried pregnant teen one year away form stautory rape, bickering with her running mate. Humm Who's report will you hold on too. The proof is in the moral report.

Isn't that like saying if I truly am Black I would eat watermelon. It is amazing to me how these arbitrary statements tend to be expressed as a universal truth. And, because I don't like to take something from a person without giving something in return, I am going to help make your statement 100% TRUE! Your statement should have read like so..."If Obama were truly a Christian, as defined by me, then, like me, he would be a Pro-Lifer". Does that help?

  • Posted By: KayDeeBeau @ 10/29/2008 9:21:53 AM

The prayer was to rebuke (condemn) all withcraft (evil). Talk about inflammatory writing....This confirms that Newsweek writers are just as clueless as those on MSNBC.....

  • Posted By: b-live1970 @ 10/29/2008 9:21:20 AM

Believers (yes, evangelicals like Palin) have been warned very well within the pages of the Bible of things such as what this article is trying to convey...even the title makes me sick! We're also warned to stay in the Word of Truth that no one may deceive us!!! What is the part we're not getting??? There's no way a true believer could agree with Obama's view. We must be reading different Bibles...

  • Posted By: jamessanders @ 10/29/2008 9:21:13 AM

jesus is about love not hate and you are wrong to judge something you dont understand ,when did you lose you abilty to be a reporter and became a smear writer , you have a right to worishp as you see fit as does she

This article seems to be attacking the fundamental beliefs of Christians. Making us sound like we're some sort of freaks for believing what we do. And yet, we live in a nation of religious tolerance. What happened to tolerance for the Christian faith? I uphold and applaud Governor Palin for sticking up for what she believes in. If it affects her at all, her faith will make her a BETTER leader. We would be much better off if all politicians had Christian worldviews. As far as the supposed invoking Jesus and witches in the same breath, if you actually read the quote you find the pastor says that witches are to be rebuked, in case you don't understand english that means scolded and not condoned. Talk about media spin, this article goes over the line. Anyone with common sense can see that.

We should applaud Palin. The problem is that she says she believes in God and her church teaches very similar to mine; however, her actions have been totally fraudulent, deceitful, liar, and aloof. So, how could even I as a God fearing, bible beliving, tongue-talking believer stand up for wrong. I cannot. That is what is wrong with our world now. Just because one says they are a believer or Christian, does not make it so. The bible says "we will know a tree by its fruit." Her fruit along with McCain's and many American Christians, are rotten to the core. We can't stand up for right, when it is obviously wrong. That is why our country and moral standards are completely broken, our children are a mess, our family structure is broken, our marriages are suffering, our economy is Jacked-up, etc., etc. We keep re-setting the standards and life and godliness. We cannot keep doing this. Palin does not represent me as a Christian, John McCain still cannot decide how he goes to church and many Christians believe according to the world's standards and what mom and dad, the Pastor, the President of their choice says, not what the Wod Of God says. This is wrong. God's Word has the last authority, not Palin, and all this incorrect stuff we have been taught and now believe is right! There is Only one way and one Truth and it is found in God's Word, many just simply do not know or understand who God truly is. He is Love. He wants healthy relationships, not all this division that has made our Country what it is today!
