It never fails to amaze me how many people out there seem to believe that the Bible was written by God. In English! Printed in heaven, no doubt. The Founding Fathers would turn in their graves if they knew what has become of the enlightened, liberal nation they had envisioned.

Have you ever heard of translation? You should try reading the Bible some time, maybe you would gain some wisdom.

Ditto paproudmom, IndJohnson and redbelly. Everybody has a religion. We all have a belief system. Sarah Palin believes that JESUS is GOOD and WITCHES are BAD. How does that sound? Ring any Bells? So America has Pentecostal Pastors and Prophets either casting devils out of people or off of people or their influence off of people. What's new? Prayer in the CHURCH has been going on for THOUSANDS OF YEARS and so has witchcraft. It's in the BIBLE. JESUS and witches. This is NOTHING NEW. They are both in the Holy Bible and they are both contrary to the other. Light vs. Darkness. It's all so simplistic. Jesus' Christianity calls on the Holy Spirit of God and the Angels that did not fall , which are 2/3 of the angels of heaven and Witchcraft calls on devils/demons of darkness the angels that did fall which are only 1/3. This is Biblical. Christianity has 2 to 1 good angels against the demons (angels that fell) Witchcraft wicked manipulation that try's to manipulate the minds of the masses and confuse them away from the truth of God and his Love for his creation and of Freedom I find it very interesting that Thomas Muthee is from Kenya? Kenya? Isn't somebody else that we know from Kenya? Is Barack Obama from Kenya? That's what they are saying? Isn't his birth certificate sealed or something and the lawyers are saying that since he isn't producing a copy of a real birth certificate and Senator Obama did not answer the petition that he is really admitting that he is from Kenya? Maybe Pastor Thomas Muthee from Kenya knows Senator Barack Obama. That's interesting. 1Soprano

so wat exactly are you implying about obama....i don't understand???

  • Posted By: ChefKeri @ 10/29/2008 8:42:30 AM

I think the 1st amendment should squash this discussion....freedom of religion.
Seriously, shouldnt the American people be more concerned with other things? More pressing things? Like the economy... the ongoing fight against terrorism, abroad and here in our own country against foreigners and even our own citizens ??? !!! This is apalling. First its her shoes, now its her religious beliefs, I mean for crying out loud people, wake up! These are issues that don't matter and the media is simply trying to distract us from the lack of platform Obama is offering. It kills me that this man can talk incessantly, and never actually say anything!!! Perhaps its time to redirect the focus from Palin to Obama and what his campaign TRULY stands for. Maybe if Obama hadn't underhandedly "earned" 600million dollars McCains campaign would have had some media support. The message isn't getting out there, and how can any educated person make a sound decision without having ALL the facts? Get the facts people. GET THE FACTS.

Jesus cast out demons and rebuked witchcraft. In fact demons spoke that they "know who Jesus is..." I truly thank God and Newsweek for this article as it reveals Gov. Sarah Palins grounded belief in Christianity.
There are professed witches today (Wiccans) Devil Worshipers (Santaria) and other pagan forms of darkness religion that exist in and around the world today. Why not do a in-depth detailed 3-page religious expose' (like this one) of the professed Islamic faith of Barack Obama? This article shows the depths and depravity that the morally corrupt press will go to to get their candidate (BO) elected.

I think the writer of this article should learn that when speaking of God, His name ALWAYS is spelled with the first letter capitalized, i.e., God; His name, He, etc.
    Your editor should reprimand you!

The Founders of the United States knew full well the danger of mixing religion and government. They had just fought a revolution to gain freedom from the tyrant in England and His religion. They left us a government free from the divine rule of kings. It is up to us to keep our freedom. We are free to hold any personal religion but not free to impose it on our fellow citizens.

This article by Lisa Miller and Andrew Murr is completely over the top. The three pastors are praying for Sarah Palin asking God to bless her and give her wisdom. This service was not about casting witches out of people. Lisa and Andrew need to give their hearts to God and ask forgiveness for this article. Lisa and Andrew are treading on Holy Ground and making remarks about the workings of the Holy Spirit and his work in the Church. The Bible warns about making remarks about the Spirit of God.

While Sarah Palin's religious beliefs are a little different than mine since I am Baptist, I don't think it's fair to pick on her. Why not do an article on the other candidate's beliefs? Barak Obama's religious beliefs is what really scares me.

  • Posted By: bbrocks @ 10/29/2008 6:55:31 AM

In all seriousness folks, this is exactly why we have the separation of church and state. It is all right for Palin to have her religious beliefs; but when she starts invoking those beliefs on others, and makes her practice public, then she has disqulaified herself as the second most high ranking leader in this country. She can't even follow the basic rule of the first Amendment. Sorry, she probably doesn't know what that is yet. For her to even be this close to winning the number two spot is unfathomable, and frightening. Because I see through her does not make me a "liberal." It just makes me realistic. For all of you self ordained fundamentalist out there, I absolutely believe in God; but, I also believe that Sara Palin is off her rocker, and dangerous for this country.

Oh, by the way, I need you to find me ANYTHING in the Constitution thats states anything about seperation of Church and state. Let me help you out. It's NOT there. The idea of this was not publicized until a few years after the writing of the Constitution, by Thomas Jefferson. Why would her worshipping God according to what she feels is right mean she's pushing her faith on others?

    • Posted By: paproudmom @ 10/29/2008 7:16:02 AM

Oh my God watch out Christians conducting their faith in public. Do you not understand what this country was founded on? Freedom of religious expression does not impose a person's beliefs on anyone.

    • Posted By: harryb-patriot @ 10/29/2008 7:10:25 AM

bbrocks, you are completely devoid of what the Founding Fathers intended with the First Ammendment. What has become known as "separation of church and state" was not meant to completely reject any Higher Being and His/Her/Its influence or the influence of religion on how we think or how we form our base for law. The First Ammendment simply means that the government will not establish a national religion nor will it infringe on the free excercise of religion. Under the First Ammendment, Palin and Obama are allowed to go to churches that espouse the things they do and We The People can't infringe on them doing so. Moreover, I find it ironic that the liberal elitists, like the author of this piece, ridicule religion and seek to block people from office who believe God is involved in the affairs of men, all the while espousing their own religiion. Belief in things not seen not only includes believing in God, Allah, Mohammed, Buddah, etc., but also includes believing there is no higher power or believing we have to live a certain way so the Great Green God of Global Warming doesn't strike us down.

Your point is? Besides continuing your disgraceful bias against this woman, where does Obama stand on Black Liberation Theology? He did attend Reverend Wright's church for 20 years. I am sure this article will be coming tomorrow. Obviously in the east coast crowd you run with none have ever been to a black church. They chant, yell, and praise the lord. God bless them. AH HA, there lies the problem, you guys don't believe in God do you?

Wow wow wow. Stormcharger is worried about having his rights taken from him by Obama? Do your homework my friend. McCain is the one who voted for the patriot act, which is by the way, the most unconstitutional act ever committed by our government and is outright disrespectful to our founding fathers who built this great nation. I am not for Obama because I believe he is a Socialist, but McCain is going to ruin the American Dollar by opening our borders and will begin to destroy our civil rights. We need a third party that will take this government and give it back to the people. This is the change we need, not socializing healthcare or balling out the criminals that destroyed so many thousands of American households with predatory lending. Lets bail out the victims not the perpetrators. Goggle Ron Paul

While Sarah Palin's religious beliefs are a little different than mine because I am Baptist, I don't think it is fair to pick on just her beliefs. Barak Obama's religious beliefs is what really scares me. I think America deserves to know what he really believes.

I am PROUD of this honorable woman, whose faith shines brilliantly above the darkness & corruption
    of the government & media...
May it pLEASE GOD to establish her, grant her great wisdom and Grant her every opportunity to bring HIS light
TRUTH and justice into Our country...And Yes, In the name of Jesus Christ we humbly ask! Amen*

I second that "Amen"....which for those who may not understand the Christian faith...Amen means SO BE IT!

Why don't you mention the fact that in Africa VOODOO is very much alive and witchcraft is a daily occurrence in their culture? Have you ever considered that this pastor is praying what HE wants to pray, peppered by his life experience, rather than mysteriously exactly what Palin would have him pray? How is what he prays her fault?

Newsweek, you are disgustingly partisan and should be ashamed. You are no news organization. You're a faux organization with faux journalists. To you and the rest of the mainstream media: Christians are laughing at you. The way you have handled Palin's "radical" faith has just further demonstrated how out of touch with America you are. You are no better than the politicians. Come back down to earth and see how the working class live sometime.

    • Posted By: Vivi @ 10/29/2008 8:36:22 AM

Dude, you sound like a complete jackass.
First, "VOODOO" is Hatian, not African, its actually called "voodun," and its a valid ancestor-based religion (like many Native American religions). New Orleans cashed in on the term to lure tourists. Do your homework.

Second, I LIVED in Africa. And while their are remnants of tribal tradition, the vast, and I mean VAST majority of Africans are Christians or Muslims. Almost everyone in Tanzania and Kenya are Lutheran, and everyone and their sister is named "Mary."

Go ahead and get all worked up and defensive if you want, but spare us your ignorant pseudo-anthropological delusions.
      (You're embarrassing yourself.)

Love, honour and obey-does not translate to listen to me no matter what!. What people always seem to miss is that if your household is run the way it should be with love and thinking of the others feelings first it is a perfect balance. A husband who respects and honors his wife will not ask of her anything that would compromise or upset. See how that works. A husband is to love his wife as Jesus loves the church. He died for it.

Who Cares why not ask Barack Hussein Obama about his relious beliefs if he had any

    • Posted By: wordsmith @ 10/29/2008 8:35:24 AM

Why the insistance on using Obama's middle name? Is this supposed to paint him with a negative image? The name is not a bad name. And people who have that name are not bad people. Thousands of people across the globe have grown up with that name and become fine, upstanding human beings.
Guilt by association? Well how about that old slur "your name is mud"? Well really that should be spelled 'Mudd' capital 'M', two d's. Mudd was the doctor who set John Wilkes Booth's broken leg after the Lincoln assassination. For generations his ancestors were looked down upon simply because of the last name. Now, anyone who gets a bad reputation or angers someone is said to be mud (Mudd) or his name is mud (Mudd).
And, oh yeah! Your name is Adolf? God protect you from being painted with the same brush as the infamous and notorious Adolf Hitler. That name became so sinonymous with evil that people changed the spelling of the name from Adolf to Adolph and many people even changed their name from Adolf/Adolph to Al or Rudolph. But not all Adolph's are evil megalomaniacs. Adolph Coors founded a brewing dynasty and keeps a large part of Colorado working. Another dynasty, this time in college basketball, was founded by Adolph Rupp and in Lexington, Kentucky the basketball forum - Rupp Arena - is known as "The House That Rupp Built".
But you go on and keep using Obama's middle name as an epithet. And hope you don't develop some disease, disorder, or cardio-pulmonary problem and you have a heart attack or seizure. If you do, when they rush you to the hospital to save your life, chances are very good your doctor will be named Hussein or some other name of Arabic extraction.

Actually that's not true. There was a guy here in Fairfield, OH who hung an Obama from a noose with a swastika and KKK written on it, and there was no punishment. So don't be so confident that the world is just out to get her. And yes, I did see Keith Olberman, of all people, lash out against the idiot who hung the Palin effigy.

    • Posted By: paproudmom @ 10/29/2008 8:34:50 AM

Even hollywood liberals are sick of Keith. That says much about him.

Please provide a direct quote (not a soundbite from Fox News) where Rev. Wright invoked hatred of white people in his speech, please.

I am scientist and a strong obama supporter...but I am also a christian, not pentcostal or catholic but a christian who believe that Jesus is the son of God and only through him can anyone have eternal life. Just because Palin is not ready to conform to the American mainstream religion where homosexuality and other lustful acts are justified, doesn't entitle anyone to ridicule her beliefs. If America is indeed a free country, let Sarah Palin be. Judge her on the quality of her character and not on which christian denomination she is from. FYI the end time theory is not a theory...but the people of this world are so blinded by the media and science that they can't see the truth right in front of their eyes!

  • Posted By: What a Joke @ 10/29/2008 7:29:11 AM

WHERE IS NEWSWEEK'S STORY ABOUT OBAMA'S PASTOR'S COMMENTS--"GOD DAM AMERICA" OR "THE US GOVERNMENT USED AIDS TO ELIMINATE BLACK FOLKS" I GUESS IT IS OFF LIMITS AND OBAMA MIGHT CUT OFF ALL INTERVIEWS AND ADVERTIZEMENT FOR SUCH A SLIP

    • Posted By: octobertime @ 10/29/2008 8:34:00 AM

YES YES I call for the same....All the people that are on these news sites with comments saying Christians are this and that and put Sarah Palin's beliefs in comparison to witchcraft is not a slam on her it is an insult to God and His Son Jesus. In fact scripture warns us of offences and disregarding truth for fables. People new age religion is just that a (RELIGION) We need a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and practice religion, which is to viist the widows and orphans adn meet their needs.Go out and spread the gospel to all nations. Tell them, if they reject it, that is their choice...God gave them that right to choose. His truth or satans lies. Please don't come back at me with some of this stuff that is already posted about your veiws and your religion because I have heard it all and it still comes down to believing in Christ as God's Son and living according to His word or not. 2 ways we have to choose from 1 of them. If this country as well as every nation in the world did not have the Christian values taught in the Bible we would all be as animals with no knowledge of anything being right or wrong. Our nation has always been the strongest nation of those beliefs and that is why God has blessed us and we have been the example of love to the world. Man has put his ideals above what God as instructed and see where we are today, when God is not allowed to be spoken, because you offend someone just at the mention of an Almighty God. I want God to be in charge of this nation NOT man. Man is to limited. God is not.
And yes give us the facts about Obama's religion,.. if it is just religion ....it's just religion. God doesn't want religion He wants relationships, A people who will worship Him, pray to Him, and trust in what His word says. You can't trust Him if you don't read His word and know all His promises.
