I agree with the other readers. At least Fox News pretends to be fair and balanced. Do they not teach journalism ethics any more?

    • Posted By: wordsmith @ 10/29/2008 8:04:56 AM

Fox news is unabashedly right-leaning conservative. They know it and so do most of their viewers/readers.

Fox actually airs both sides. While CNN and the others usally have only one side portayed. On CNN they may have a panel of 10 or 12 and only one is truly conservative. This is balanced? At least Fox will allow an opposing opinion. I love how the liberal networks police themselves. They ask are we biased and answer for themselves of course we are not. Maybe that's why their ratings are so low. When I go on Fox's blogs I see diverse opinions. On many other blogs (network or cable), there is usually only one opinion wonder why?

I am a Christian and I don't see anything wrong with the prayer that is shown in the video. It shows that Sarah is true believer in the power of prayer and not afraid to show it. However I will not be voting for the McCain/Pailin ticket. It is possible to be PRO-Choice but ANTI-Abortion. Jesus did not force salvation upon us - He allowed us to CHOOSE HIM. I don't want the government, on ANY level, to legislate.what I do with my body. My issue with Govenor Palin is that from the moment she opened her mouth to speak at the RNC, all I heard was insults and since then, divisiveness and fear mongering. I understand the nature of politcs but as a Christian she, like the rest us, will have to give an account for her ugly words. Remember, "Life and death is in the power of the tounge." I would also like to remind you that the main theme of Christianity is charity i.e. LOVE. This country and election can not be run/decided on the issue of abortion alone. Remember, Jesus fed the poor AND healed the sick AND saved preached salvation to the lost. If any lost sheep happened across this discussion, which one of these postings would lead that person to Christ?

May God have mercy on you both Lisa Miller & Andrew Murr, for your total ignorance of Biblical pratices. I thought the picture of Mrs. Palin surronded by three Ministers was a beautiful picture of a ritual found in the Bible many times: "Laying on of hands." Look that up and learn what that means before you go off in left and I do mean LEFT field, trying to make somethong evil out of something sacred. You both should be so fortunate to have believers "lay hands" on you when you need extra strength in your life. You might also want to research what the Bible says about the Jewish nation...we all need to be concerned about that situation. This smacks of desperation on the Liberal side to once again force feed Mr. Super-Obama to the American people. Your article did NOT quote-"raise questions about her view on Christianity & government". It did raise my admiration for a fellow Christian standing up for Biblical beliefs. Obama believes in killing babies but not certain wildlife and you really think God is going to bless us for that belief? How stupid do you think Newsweek readers are?

It is apparent that the writers of this article are severly biased and completely ignorant when it comes to the pentecostal faith. First, each of us are individuals and therefore, our prayers are unique unto God. To quote an excerpt of the two authors and to try to correct (also known as rebuke by the way) the lack of knowledge (also known as ignorance): "...First, Muthee urges the congregation to pray for Palin's success "even in the political arena ... [to] bring finances her way ... and give her the personnel." And then he offers this cryptic blessing: "In the name of Jesus. Every form of witchcraft is what you rebuke." The laying of hands on the Alaska politician, the invoking of Jesus and witches in the same sentence???what the heck is going on?"...Well, what the heck was going on was this Kenyan preacher prayed in accordance to the Word of God. DECEPTION, in certain translations of the Bible is viewed as a form of witchcraft. What this Kenyan pastor was praying when he stated that she "rebuke every form of witchcraft", he was simply praying that God would give Governor Palin CLARITY to be able to see through the deception that some may try to present to her and that she CORRECT their actions. To rebuke means to correct. It is VERY SAD that an article so full of inaccuracies of Governor Palin's beliefs has not only been written - but at NO time did these "reporters" ever ask the Kenyan preacher or anyone of the Pentecostal faith to weigh in on what this pastor was truly praying. I would be curious to see if these reporters - for the lack of a better word - have exuded just as much energy trying to find out Barack Obama's true beliefs, if he has any, and also how his "associations" with "Rev." Wright, Bill Ayers, "Father" Flager, Louis Farrakhan and Tony Rezko came to be. If they sought him out or did HE seek them; as one of his books references as he surrounded himself with mentors including some who believe in Marxism.......but oh wait......that would be too fair, now wouldn't it??? VERY sloppy reporting.

Nothing brings out wacko religious fundamentalists faster than exposing one of their own.

You will see one day that those that choose to not believe in Jesus were wrong. Watch your words carefully and your thoughts - because He will return. I've experienced Him in too many ways to know that He is really real. So, wait, watch and see what will happen. His return is soon and He's coming for those that are looking for Him. The fool says there is no God. So, keep your eyes open and look for Him. Live your life by example...and don't put you trust in the media but look to God - He holds this world in HIS hands. :)

I attend an Assembly of God Church and when you only have a little bit of information that is dangerous. Spend some time with these people and you will see how awesome God's power is. If you do not think there is evil in this world, than you have never opened a Bible. I will pray for you who do not believe, because one day every knee will bow before God.

This kind of journalism is totally irresponsible , innappropriate and appalling . Why don't you spend your time and energies covering issues that address the current economic and /or political situation that provide concrete facts. Or, if you must resort to tabloid journalism that "needs" to drag people through the mud, at least give all candidates "equal time ".

This is a perfect example of liberal frenzy... You focus on one word... witchcraft, which is probably a big problem in Kenyan churches. She was being blessed to stand up to be ready for the job. She needs a lot of blessings because nuts like you post headings like Jesus and witches. Do you spend the same kind of time on Obama and his church where his pastor DAMNS AMERICA?!? Look it up!

To all those claiming that this media (Newsweek or others) are not doing any story on Obama's past? Are you serious? The liberal media had no problem posting stories on Obama's past over a month ago when the stories broke. That is what media is today (both liberal and conservative). They talk about what is new, now!

    • Posted By: nitemare2 @ 10/29/2008 8:18:09 AM

This has also been covered many times before but the media keeps stoking the fires. If you question obamas religion thr media and Obama supporters cut you off.The meda covered Rev.Wright.but not to the extent they have abused Palin. They go after Joe the Plumber and don't cover the question which was the real story.Do you see any outrage from the press about the idoits in Calif.with the hanging Palin effigy. No but if it had been Obama they would have been in jail now.so don't cry about people wanting the media to be fair and unbiased.

  • Posted By: stormcharger @ 10/29/2008 8:15:50 AM

Here's a thought. Where does Obama attend church now? I guess he's too busy promoting his own religion, one in which he is the Messiah who has come to save us. This fraud is going to ruin this country. One this is sure, my husband and I are going to buy his and hers guns for Christmas if Obama wins this election. Why? Not because we want to "cling to our guns and religion," but because if Obama has his way we will lose our right to buy them. I am concerned about the freedoms "that one" will try to take away from us.

is it me or does it seem the author is actualy criticizing her beliefs? For crying out loud is nothing sacred anymore in the media? Just leave the lady to her one business

P.S. : politics n religion never go like peanut butter n jelly, so why even bother bringing it up?

  • Posted By: Jedischultz @ 10/29/2008 7:59:16 AM

So Obama supports child murder? Are you for real? Go back and look up the full story (NOT a media story or from someone in this blog), the official statements from the Illinois senate and of that time. The reason Obama didn't support that abortion Bill was because it had NO provision of saving the life of the mother. The mother has every right to be saved, as the child you speak of, and it should be up to the medical doctor's opinion, not yours or mine, on whos life to save in a dire situation.

    • Posted By: rosalee @ 10/29/2008 8:14:24 AM

I have actually read the Illinois senate speech and Obama's opposition to the Born Alive Infant's Protection Act. The bill was aiming to get another doctor in the abortion room (presumably for late-term abortions where the baby would have a chance of being born alive) to take care of the baby if it were born alive. The abortion doctor would still be in charge of the mother's health. Obama's criticism of this plan is that if the mother and doctor together decided this infant would not be viable, then the fact the baby was actually born alive shouldn't change their original determination. Do a little more research before defending Obama on this particular point please.

You have to wonder why the bible was written. Obviously it was written by MAN to control the masses. They needed a way to keep everyone in order. Back then the majority of the people were uneducated. They were easy to control by fear. Let me know the next time that someone has been returned to life after being dead and buried. Or someone that can tell me if there really is a hell or heaven. If you need guidance in your life then religion of this type is for you. Otherwise the rest of us can think for ourselves.

I love how you make assumptions and call them facts. In this country everyone has the right to their beliefs, Stop putting others down. It is unbecoming.

I wanted to believe (call me naive) that the media could actually be objective. The main stream media, including Newsweek & CNN (Wolf Blitzer's discuss with James Carville yesterday) needs to understand that Protestantism is not an "out there" religion but MAINSTREAM. Last time I checked this country (or what's going to be left of it) was based on & built on Christian values. Praying over someone happens in many churches, sometimes more quitely (Catholic/Methodist), other times more charismatically (AG churches). If reporters, like many Americans attended a mainstream religous service regularly they might learn that. The religous right may be re-cast as values voters but whatever folks want to call themselves we are still there! We may be disappointed that Mike Huckabee was not the nominee or the VP pick :( - but still care greatly about out country & not following the crowd & the media who have totally "drunk the Koolade" of Barack Obama! Our freedoms, especially freedom of religon are important & I know I want a President & VP that do realize they need God & Jesus' help to do their job!

As far as the End times, I am not an end times person but if you do read the Bible (the greatest literary work ever, much less what it stands for) parallelling Revelations to what is going on in the markets, Barack's rise, the war - It does make you think!

I pray that the masses wake up, realize that our rights are being attacked by the media, those in Washington & in State houses across the country & will make a non-biased decision on Tuesday! May God Bless the US - We need it!
