  • Posted By: Palin Supporters Do Not Know Their Own Bible @ 10/29/2008 7:51:02 AM

Ironically, many of the comments by the Christians critical of this article reveal an ignorance of their own Bible. As a careful reading of Jeremiah indicates, it was usually the false prophets who identified their own government's activity with the will of God. It was the false prophets in 1 Kings 22 who said that their leaders were doing God's will in going to war. The true prophets like Amos were critical of political policies that supported the rich at the expense of the poor. Paul emphasized that people should give according to their ability (and even more) to people according to their need (2 Cor 8:3, 13-14). The author of Revelation was critical of an imperial power that had invaded the Middle East from the west and tortured and executed the founder of his movement. People who think that the USA has a special plan from God in its own invasion of the Middle East for the profit of the rich are rather selective in their use of their own Bible.

This is worse than following a black preacher who invokes hate about whites??

  • Posted By: rtrower @ 10/29/2008 7:50:30 AM

This article is an outrage! Put a sliver of this energy into Barack and Reverend Wright's Black separatist world view and hatred for America. Get real! He is who we truly have to fear!

As a lawyer and one who believes the Constitution is a fairly good document, I get a little nervous when I think about our VP taking direction from God and especially when theat VP has a nuclear trigger Usually when people do that, the bodycount goes up somewhere. My God is your heathen Idol and vice versa. When I see clips like this I want to go to the Caribbean and renew my VooDoo Master Certification.

Do you think the death of morality in the sixties had anything to do with the evangelical movement in the 70s and 80s? I was so disgusted (except by Civil Rights) with the morality of the 60s, I became a Christian. I think it will be the atheists that will revive Hitler and Stalin...There is no reason today to have a familly, there is no family (just a series of live-in hookups - that isn't love), there is nada today. I would never do what the Arabs have done, and I believe, but I am tired of having to watch my back with every employee we employ, the men want a whore today - might as well get a movie and fantasize if I need sex that badly - why be bothered with the bumb. A child is a cheap proposition we can conviently toss away or conjure at whim, the vast majority of the minority community is gone (the blacks once had a very strong family network), the blue collar white community is in worse shape than when Patrick Monynihan said the black family was endangered (then 22% black illegitimacy, 25% blue collar illegitimacy today). I can quote you statistics in Europe where up to 50% of births are illegitimate (like Norway) and many of those aren't poor people. The up and coming countries and India and China where certain traditional values are still held. I am divided about whether it will be the Arabs who bring on Armageddon, or it will be the atheists again who will revolt and bring Stalin or Hitler back. I am keeping the faith.....

Your foundation remark "As a lawyer" perfectily laid the foundation for your stufpid comment.

" Christian nut " as you call it, pertains to how many millions of Americans? I'm glad to live in America where I can worship my God ANYWAY I want and I don't care if you Youtube it. Life is good, eternal life is better. Unless you're not a "Christian nut" in which eternal life could get a little, er, testy. have fun. God bless Sarah Palin and God bless you.

    HEY FLORIDACADMAN!
Your son CHOSE to be a soldier. War & unfortunately death can kinda be part of the job. It's an honor to be served by such brave man. However, THEY choose to be in the service, not the "evil right wing nuts." Palin is supporting protecting our country, NOT disposing your son.

Once again, OBAMA IS THE ONE THAT SUPPORTS CHILD MURDER!!!!

This article is an outrage....if you spent a quarter of this enregy on Barack and Reverend Wright we'd really have something to fear from a Black separatist who hates America. Get real!

  • Posted By: Seekinghigherground @ 10/29/2008 7:48:15 AM

Just another negative article where the writers don't really understand a thing they are writing about and are obviously putting their own views into it trying to make a mockery of God's work. Sarah, you are in good company, they said the same things about our Precious Lord Jesus!

Cryptic blessing? Have you never been to a church? DO YOUR RESEARCH IDIOT!!! This is not an awkward service. What a moron you are to write this article without having attended a church service prior to slamming Palin. End times scenarios are part of what Christians believe in, it's not a "crazy" thing to us. There are many issues this election that need coverage, and this is what we get from the media! Imbeciles!

I am a Christian, and while I definitely believe that individuals should be allowed to worship as they please, extremists on either end of the spectrum frighten me. Rev. Wright's rampage as well as this video clip make me uncomfortable because they both are 'using' God to support their own agenda. No one scares me more at this time in our history than Pastor John Hagee. The fact that John McCain sought his endorsement (even though he later denounced Hagee) is worrisome.
I do wonder why the American people seem to be so obsessed with Palin and Obama's faith while totally ignoring the religious beliefs or practices of Hillary Clinton or John McCain (or lack of).
May God's will be done. It will in the long run.

Who cares? Obama is a freakin Muslim!!!! Isn't that the real issue? Wake up America!!!

    • Posted By: Jedischultz @ 10/29/2008 7:46:46 AM

So what if he is Muslim! If this country is founded on freedom of religion (or no religion at all), that is their right. End of story. If you don't want to vote for a Muslim (which Obama isn't), that is your right also.

You say wake up America? Wake up to what? It sounds like you support America (with all our FREEDOMS) but only if they are of your personnal views. Hypocrite!

I pray daily for Sarah Palin. I think it is VERY sad that she must endure the cheap shots that the media attacks her conservative christian beliefs and values. Not to mention the attacks on her family. I believe she is an Esther in this most precarious time in the history of America. I am forever grateful that someone has enough backbone not to cave in to "mainstream" religion. I personally don't agree with the mainstream philosphy at all. Coming from over seven generations of conservative Apostolic family ministers, I am extremely excited and pray daily for God to guide her steps and keep the forces of darkness (which includes demons and witchcraft) at bay. The prayers and sermons that you seem to question are completely normal and exactly what I personally like to hear when I go to church. (Which is several times a week....just to make that clear also). Jesus I pray for this campaign and ask that you keep the enemies of our souls at bay so your will may be done> AMEN!!

Come on Newsweek. How about an expose about Obama and all his questionable friendships/affiliations? I can't believe how biased the news outlets have been this election season. It is utterly appalling. Who gives a rip about what church Sarah attends when Obama is hanging out with terrorists? At least TRY to be fair. I'll be waiting for the story about this. .

  • Posted By: sandyshores10 @ 10/29/2008 7:46:08 AM

If this artical in anyway is trying to compair Obamas radical ways to Sarah you failed miserably and while I agree that witch craft a religion of nature is vastly misrepresented by mainstreem religion. Who is to blame for that hollyweird of course.

For two years we have been disecting Barack Obama. Two months ago most of us had never even hear of Sarah Palin. If its fair to look at the candidates on one side its fair to look at the candidates on the other side. Personally I'd like to see an article that details her and her husband's relationship with the Alaska Independence Party. These are people who don't want to be part of the United States. They sound dangerous to me.

Come on.... what about a true expose about Obama and all his associations? The news media has been truly biased in this election. It is utterly shameful. Come on Newsweek, step up.

Amanda and TIna - Hmmmmm I wonder if your names or in the "Book of Life".... Oh go ahead and laugh, but I promise you won't be laughing in HELL. Why don't you go pick on your messiah Obama who believes in anything that fits his audience!!! I can't believe you are so blinded to the truth... BUT, I have to say... God did say people (non believers) will be blinded to the truth in the end days. You still have time to change your mind today. Who knows what tomorrow brings. Dont blasphemy - use your journalism in better ways. Or youll be sorry.

I grew up in a christian church and having a african witch docter do a ritual on you on sunday in hardly normal.

i can't believe some of the comments blogged heretofore. Creationism as told in the bible has been found wanting to say the least by evoloutionism. Anybody running for high office who dosen,t recognize that is unintellegent. There is nothing wrong in believing in God as long as iit is in context with scientific findings. Sarah Palin,s beliefs , statements and general acumen make her an unacceptable candidate for any office other than dog catcher. How she got to where she is seems to be a result of disintrest of Alaskan voters. She was strictly chosen to appeal to the nut job right to lifers, not realizing that her selection would alienate any body wiyh an IQ OVER 90

    • Posted By: stormcharger @ 10/29/2008 7:12:48 AM

The man who prayed for Sarah Palin was not a "witch doctor." "Witch doctors" are those who use "magic" or the dark arts and do not profess to be Christians. The man prayed God's protection on Sarah Palin ... that she would be oppressed and trodden under by the enemy (evil powers). The Scriptures (Bible) states that we (Christians) do not war against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness. Remember how the serpent behaved in the Garden of Eden? The truth will set you free.
Her faith is strong. However, God doesn't ask any of us to check our brains at the altar. Capeche?

Judging from the obvious lack of understanding of the history of this country in regard to religious freedom and our constitution I have to wonder what is being taught in our school systems. Could it be liberal revisionism?
