    Dear Authors, you tread on dangerous ground when you write about something of which you are completely ignorant. I am not Pentecostal, but as a person who has known and followed Christ intimately all of my life, I am fascinated by the fact that this pastor who was praying for Sarah's protection (not deliverance) is from Kenya. The significance is not lost on me! How about you?

    ................................................The influence of Pentecostal Religious Ideas on Palin is not good. This is a Fringe Religion with its speaking in tongues, casting out of demons, charismatic ranting and raving and other backwards thought in so many areas is just not good for America when it could influence Presidential Leadership if it moves from Small Community to the White House. Palin is a Conservative Far Right Religionist like George Bush is and he tried to inject Religion into American Life with his Faith Based Politics and backward views on Science and Technology and see what a disaster the Bush Administration turned out to be. The Pentecostals and Fundamentalist Christians are far from being Middle Of The Road and Americans do not want their doctrine that controls their minds to control our daily lives. Freedoms go out the window when the Conservative Right Wing Mind Set takes over our Government.....they are Dangerous Religious Extremists..............period!!!!

      Why can't you people open your eyes and realize that this country was founded and based on religious fundamentals by God fearing men! What would you rather have a president who has no morals like bill clinton who commits adultery and lies through his teeth who screwed up our economy before Bush ever took office. The 8 years he has been in office the congress has been controlled by democrats who further screwed up our economy. This economic problem was not caused by one president being in office! It was caused by men in office who would rather fill their own pockets and keep Americans as slaves to a socialistic system. If you want to be a slave vote obama!

    I will lose much of my pride to be an American if our country votes Obama in.

    All the negative coverage goes to McCain and Sarah Palin, nothing wrong can be done and has been done by our great, special son born to a white lady with a black man of faith from Kenya or Biden who has been full of gaffes, but no reporting. What has Obama done for his step brothers living in abject poverty, is he the messiah who we can trust when he never ever went (except photshooting in his only visit to Kenya) to do even a charity work for his fatherland, do some equipment/tools of trade buying for his stepbrothers to make them settle down and be self-reliant. He had all the money to buy designer cloths, mansion with dubious character/neighbor's help funding, but nothing for noble cause to help his kith and kins in africa or even in Chicago, except ACORN to work on free money or taxpayers money to enhance his profile and that of his cronies and use as a stepping stone to achieve ambitions? Why no newspaper digs in his past and what has he really done for america, underprivileged in america, asia, africa, latin america, mexico, or even in his constituency with his funds? Are the whites living in guilt conscience of what their forefathers did to africans, and supporting mixed race person? Is it worthwhile to get rid of guilt than starting mutual respect with full heart and encouraging the deserving persons of "have-nots" to get into gainful employment than getting one person in gainful employment/crown and then he messes up and dooms the chances of all non-whites, especially of african and asian origin for next 50 years. We need genuine, hardworking and citizen focused leaders from these visible minority community to work hard, be noticed and then rise to the highest seat of power to SERVE and not to get to the throne to rule, but to serve. The seat of power shall not be a goal, but a medium to bring richness to all americans who work hard, have ambitions, goals and NOthing to drug addict, men who live on their wives, unwed mothers who have children with 3, 4 and even more men and have lost the purpose of life and live on doles, free security system and add quantity with no quality to talk about.

      What Christians today practice (whether Catholic or Protestant) has nothing to do with what Christ preached or what Christians practiced in the hundred or so years after his death. The Council of Nicea, and the cross-polination between the Roman world and Christianity weakened the Empire and made Christianity more warlike. Aggressive Islamic military expansion (first against the Byzantine Empire) further encouraged the corruption of Christianity into something more war-like like Islam.

      When Christianity was first practiced, it had nothing like the modern, war-like & materialistic capitalistic conservative Republicans, or the undisciplined, amoral liberal Democrats. Christians were thrown to the lions for refusing to serve in the Roman military, and they met secretly to practice their religion. The irony is they were probably closer to God than so-called Christians (especially in America) are now, with an established canon and an unholy bastardization of "worldliness" with politics and materialism.

      What is praticed today, whether by liberal churches or by conservative evangelicals does not deserve to be called "Christianity". I believe that the original Christianity as practiced was a purer form than the religion of today.

        I feel sorry for you if that is what you believe. I would not call Reverend Wright a Christian. Maybe we should all be atheists and that would make the world a better place. I can't wait until Obama gets elected. He will be the most divisive President in the nations history. We will see how better off we are in 4 years.

    This is ridiculous. Do you know anything about the Bible and how dare you cut this down. This is a religious women (like me) that goes before the church many times to have the pastors pray for me. Whether I'm sick physically or just in need of encouragement, they are there to pray that ALL EVIL is removed because of our saviour Jesus Christ. Do you know what the Bible says about this? Have you studied it clearly. This goes on every day in many types of churches. Shame on you for making God's wonderful loving word for EVERYONE sound like witchcraft.....May God have mercy on you.

    And rosiesie you are so right. You can say one thing but your actions speak another. Isn't is scary though that so many are flocked to this man of no experience, very far left, NEVER WORKED WITH BOTH SIDES, gone to a church that hates whites for 20 years, etc etc. IT IS SO WEIRD.       Growing up in a "Christian" home, I understand the prayer in which Palin is recieving. There are many people who will plan your demise and all her preacher is asking for is her protection and to give her mental strenghth. What is so wrong with that?? And yes, I consider myself a liberal, a "Black" American, residing in the heart of politics (Wash DC). I wouldn't care if Sarah Palin worshipped a cabbage head, it's her political views that turns me off.....and yeah what about Rev. Wright? He is a man who obviously endured racism in a time where it was permissible, and to understand the postion of his sermon one would have had to experience the same social injustice he has. I believe everything serves a purpose, a purpose greater than ourselves....and that even being G W Bush's postion in the white house, this presidental election, the war in Iraq, and everything in between. We should wanna pray, meditate, chant, light candels or whatever for the safety of our country and everyone who could possibly have an impact.
