Even committed Republicans who support McCain are asking themselves if they really would take the risk of putting our country into Sarah Palin's hands. Many prominent Republicans, including Colin Powell, have said that Palin is not prepared to be Vice President. Being VP requires a depth of knowledge on national and international issues. Palin is ignorant of these matters. And being President requires great intelligence and a clear-eyed world view, one untainted by religious fanaticism. Look at the mess we got with the under-qualified Dubya, and even he seems smarter and less fanatical than Palin. McCain is 72 years old, with high cholesterol and high blood pressure; his father and grandfather each died of heart attacks at age 72. McCain's Vice President HAS to be ready to lead. And by lead, I am not referring to a full speed charge into Armageddon.

For those of you who don't know, Palin belongs to a fundamentalist church that believes the end of the world is near: that war, financial distress and famine will kill off the sinful non-believers, and that when this holocaust occurs all good Christians will be taking refuge in Alaska. Furthermore, her church conducts witch hunts -- they actually use prayer to locate "witches" in their community, then publicly brand them as witches, and hold them responsible for everything that goes wrong in town. (Honestly, I think the long winters must be getting to their minds.) You can go on YouTube and watch videos of Palin participating during sermons like this. She stands on the altar facing the members. The congregation stands with outstretched hands, trancelike, speaking in tounges while the priest prays to "keep Sarah safe from all forms of witchcraft."

Could you REALLY feel comfortable knowing that a woman who holds these beliefs would have the power to declare war and deploy nuclear missiles?

    • Posted By: GoSarah @ 10/29/2008 5:32:49 PM

Palin's church does NOT do what you are saying, sir. That is not true.
You lib losers have got some nerve saying Sarah can't run the country. What about Obamanation? She is far more qualified to run than he is. How dare you, you hypocrites! Neither one has any experience! Good advisers may be had by both, thank God, but don't say she can't be a good president when you are voting for the terrorist-loving muslim.

      • Posted By: Nins @ 10/29/2008 11:57:49 PM

Gosh, Go Sarah, I thought it over carefully and decided that I would rather have a terrorist-loving Muslim for President than a Pentecostal Christian guilty of abuse of power who is eager to get started on Armageddon. It was a tough choice. But I'm voting for the Muslim. I figure that with a Muslim President, there will be no more need for the Islamic world to attack us. We might attain world peace. But with the Armageddon-loving Christian soldiers in control, WW III is just around the corner. So, although it was hard to give up my belief in Jesus, I think I can find a niche for myself in Sufism.

Look how stupid it looks when someone takes you seriously and reflects yourself back to you, Sarah. Can you see how ugly what you write really is?

Thanks for the link... I did not see Palin speaking in tongues... in fact, I understand few Pentecostal members do. ABC News also commented that Palin would not use her personal beliefs to shape public policy.

          Stop grasping at straws.

Palin won't use her personal beliefs to influence public policy? Say What? Then how do you explain the fact that Palin tried to ban books about homosexuality from the Wasilla Public Library, and fired the Head Librarian when she refused to remove the books?

Or when she says about Iraq "This is God's war!" It sure looks like she is confusing her personal beliefs with public policy there.

Go to YouTube and search "Palin Witch Hunt." You will find videos from her church discussing how their pastor prayed to find witches, "outed" these poor people to the congregation, and then the church members ran them out of town. These videos are not made up by outsiders, they are taken from the church's website. Ouch.

You know Vypurr, I respect that you admire Palin. That is great. But you need to do a little research into what is really going on. If you get all your news from Fox and similar sources, you will be ill-informed.

Dubya is going down in history as Harry Truman did. A hero. A president hugely unpopular during war, doing whatever he had to do to keep this country safe, no matter what others thought. Oliver Stone is an air-headed dope-smoking dillusional director and his films are notoriously um, "out there." He has NOT ruined the Bush dynasty, he has not done anything wrong while you liars and mainstream media have tried to make him Satan. If he is such a bad guy, why don't they impeach him? Because he hasn't done anything wrong. Your article is full of mistakes and out-right lies. The weapons of mass destruction were moved into Syria. The Iragui people get a chance at Democracy, which they want, badly. We attacked them because they attacked us. A pox on you lying liberal writers. May you go the way of Lying Dog Dan Rather. How do you live with yourselves? Writing lies about a good man, a better man than this terrorist-loving muslim you're all hot for. I heard Hamas, Hezbollah, pres of Iran, and other killers of innocent civilians will be in at Obamanation's Nov 4th party. What is UP with this country!!

The GOP is grasping at straws. They have nothing substantive against Obama, but boy are they good at making up lies. This has been a leading Rove tactic for years, and if America falls for this again we should be ashamed of ourselves. Not to mention the fact that this is all a smokescreen to keep the focus off of the fact that Palin and her Alaska associates are in contempt of court for refusing to testify in the Troopergate hearings. After Nixon and Clinton, Americans are to some extent jaded, but really, would you want a VP who refuses to attend hearings in her own defense, and instructs her employees not to testify? That smells like guilt. It surely doesn't give the impression that she has done no wrong and has nothing to hide.

This year, the GOP offers you an angry old man and a woman who, while personable, is desperately uniformed about national and international issues. Both of them are far right politically. McCain used to be a maverick, but since 2004 he has voted 90% with Bush. McCain's policies are not original or reformist, despite how he has tried to co-opt Obama's popular message of change. Please go to the websites of both of the candidates and read their platforms. Obama's Blueprint for Change has more good ideas than McCain's plan. Compare them yourself. Obama's basic premise is that tax dollars should be spent to make America stronger and to improve the lives and well being of our people. For example, he uses education programs to train a technology workforce, contributing to energy independence, creating jobs and improving the economy. When you read McCain's plan you will find no over-arching design to get America back on track. Instead you'll find more tax cuts for the wealthy and deregulation of the health care industry.

I'm a Republican. Although I embrace some forward-thinking social values, in the past I've rarely voted Democrat. My thinking was that since Republicans grow robust economies, by voting Republican I'd be endorsing a plan that would grow wealth for our nation, and then we would be able to afford social programs. It was a good strategy for a couple decades, but I have to say that the tenure of W. Bush has changed my mind. Not only is there nothing fiscally responsible about today's GOP, the insidious alignment of the party with religious intolerance has really turned me off.

On the other hand, the intelligent luminous thought of Barack Obama has ignited my patriotism. I want a President who puts America first and can get the economy back on track. In my mind, values voting takes a back burner when we are faced with a meltdown of the economy. It's time for a change, a real change. The Republicans have controlled the Presidency for 28 of the past 40 years, but they have fallen down on the job. The Democrats have a stellar candidate this year, and I am voting for Obama.

    • Posted By: Vypurr @ 10/29/2008 9:06:45 PM

More opinionated bullsh!t. Good grief. Tax cuts for the wealthy? Note to Nins... The top 10 percent of the wage earners pay 70 percent of the taxes already, and now you and Obama want them to pay more!

You're really big on taking money from those who earned and giving it to those who have not. Your statement in another post saying "it won't kill them", and "they won't miss it", was appalling. How the hell would you know?

    • Posted By: GoSarah @ 10/29/2008 5:36:23 PM

This is not grasping at straws. How can intelligent educated people vote for this stinking (politically) muslim who has been endorsed by Hamas, Hezbollah. Pres of Iran and other cowardly murderers of innocent civilians? He hasn't raised funds, they've been given to him by his anti-Israel PLO buddies. Man oh man, I pray God protects this country...all the man can do is talk good and you're in a swoon over this? Geez, wake UP, snap out of it!

  • Posted By: Vypurr @ 10/29/2008 8:47:03 PM

So Obama wants you to believe those of you making less than 250K a year... opps, that's dropped to 150K a year since weekend... are going to get a nice tax cut.

Funny, last year, Obama and Biden voted to increase taxes on people making 42K per year. This sounds exactly like the Clinton tax lie he used to get in office 16 years ago. He promised to tax the "class envy" benchmark set at 150K. It didn't happen of course, with Clinton stating about month after he took office that he "just couldn't do it," but instead he could give us an increase, and he did! One of the largest tax increases in history... he even made it retroactive!

Then there's his very disturbing statement Obama made about "breaking the constraints of the Constitution." WTH???

People voting for Obama are like those who lose 50 bucks on the game, and 75 on the replay!

You gotta love Penn & Teller... Look for Charlie Gibson actually being fair!

    What's Wrong With "W"? --- George W. Bush's Political Troubles. Part 3. continue

by Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.

    (10) Serious battles are raging between corporate executives and stockholders. Greed plays an important role in the downfall of the Bush administration. There are plenty of corruption in the Federal, state, and local government. Even civilian and military personnel aboard are corrupt. The two major political parties are too busy choking each other's throats than to care about corruptions and government inefficiency. Racial tension will prevent both side from criticizing each other especially on racial sensitive matters in the workplace and society. Political correctness forbids anyone from commenting on anything. (11) Lack of cooperation from the media. American media are extremely bias. Bush's strong arm policy and his challenging of the press have worsen the situation and washed away media supports. The situations were especially serious when many of Bush's policy are implemented without good reasons and full of loopholes. His confrontation with the media brought about his final demise. (12) I don't think John McCain should be penalized by mistakes made by his predecessors. George W. Bush is a spoiled heir to a well-to-do family while McCain is a well polished, fully trained, disciplined, tough and no nonsense soldier and politician. They are simply men of totally different breed. McCain will certainly perform better and have more motivation to achieve his objectives. McCain will challenge America's highly bias media, reuniting Congress and stamping out corruptions in government and corporations. (13) During this Halloween Season, election and other important matters especially those of competition in nature will undoubtedly control or release by my supernatural and spiritual forces. Anything can happen now with little or no predictions and protection to anyone. More than likely some Scarecrows who hidden behind the Bush will suddenly jump out to scare you or haunt us. So expect the unexpected! Additional branches on Bush should continue to grow or fall here during this highly catastrophic Fall Season and beyond, or you may want to add or subtract some of his failure. May the Environment and Great Spirit of Halloween prevail and bring about my success!

    What's Wrong With "W"? --- George W. Bush's Political Troubles. Part 2.

by Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.

    (7) Also since the Civil War, the U. S. has been trying to destabilize the world. First they attacked Britain, Spain and then China during the Eight Nations Invasion (Boxer Rebellion) of the Qing Dynasty. After that, the U. S. had exported their rebellious ideology to countries such as Serbia to initiate and then participate in World War I. The U. S. also supported the British to start WWII. In addition, the U. S. has continuously staging revolutions, coups, protests and demonstrations using freedom, liberty, human rights and racial independence as excuses. Finally such U. S. strategy came back to haunt Bush and his efforts in the Middle East. The expansions have all failed due to human rights violation issues. Same situations also caused the American failure in Vietnam. (8) In addition to unity problems, the American economy have collapsed since the Great Depression of late 1920-30. The only reason they are still surviving is to use the method of "robbing Peter to pay Paul." To achieve such goal, the U. S. resort to massively wasting our world's natural resources on unnecessary and redundant projects. In many cases, Americans will simply throw away perfectly functional items so that they can manufacture new ones to stimulate industry. There were also welfare and research programs which have little or no clients. Their government also encourage fraud in those programs, in addition to forcing and harassing other countries into supporting American wasteful policies. (9) Failure of education programs. No matter how hard the American government has tried, their education programs failed. Americans are simply not in the mood to study. More than half of the school children never even bring their books home. Others are too busy participating in extracurrricular activities in sports and social events. At home, students are often too busy arguing, dating, watching movies/TV, playing music, video games, chatting on the phones and Internet. Most children were seriously affected by their financial and family problems to pay any attentions to study. Little or no one were interested in studying or other activities which could improve their employment qualification. Rich families will send their children to private schools. Most companies already have plenty of well trained high level workers and have no need to support education. In fact they need more lower level labors to fill routine jobs. The United States have no choice but to bring in immigrants or outsourcing to India to fill the gaps. This also resulted in income and export shortfall. The failure to overturn affirmative action at the Supreme Court has damage the quality of education further. (Continue Part 3)

    What's Wrong With "W"? --- George W. Bush's Political Trouble. Part 1.
by: Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.

This title are words all started with "W." If you have seen the movie "W" you certainly will know what "W" represent -- George W. Bush. The following are my observations about "What's Wrong With W.": (1) George W. Bush's first mistake was to hire all Blacks for his foreign relation departments. To start his administration, Bush used Colin Powell as Secretary of State and Condi Rice as Foreign Policy Advisor. After firing Powell, Bush still insisted on using a Black woman - Rice as Secretary of State. Together, Powell and Rice have initiated numerous foreign policies which made the U. S. failed on all fronts. Quite obviously, they are all spying for Democrats especially when Powell is currently endorsing Obama. (2) Since the Secretary of State also control U. S. embassies aboard, they can make it much easier for Africans to immigrate to the U. S. whereby increasing the population of voters who will vote against the Republican Party. (3) Bush and Chaney were to too greedy in thinking Iraqi oil can bring them great fortune. Saddam Hussein had problems making money from his oil reserve during peace time. How can Bush and Chaney get profit from oil during a war? (4) Even before Bush took office, the United States was already in a recession. The U. S. government was simply presenting fictitious economic figures to recover up their financial troubles. They also try to improve the economy by increasing military spending. Increase military and related civilian employment will also improve employment statistic. (5) Ever since the Civil War, the United States were never "United." All the Americans could do is to tried to escape from their troubles by expanding westward based on their "Manifest Destiny" ideology. When they had reached the Pacific, Americans started to invade countries such as Hawaii, Philippines and Japan to start World War II. Until finally they reached China and its Korean ally, and were being stopped right at its track. (6) China is simply too vast and Chinese are too strong and intelligent for the American to defeat. So are the Vietnamese. The U. S. was defeated in Asia. There were little or no more colonies for the U. S. to fulfil its 'Manifest Destiny." Therefore the U.S. will have to disintegrate. George W. Bush has aggressively extended his destiny too far which have crossed over into other people's destiny. He had unwisely claimed the domains of Russian, French and British territory as his own which caused his failure in Iraq. (continue Part 2)

The future books about the Bush Presidency will complicate a simple explanation for the war. Bush wanted to get Saddam because Saddam had threatened his father. Bush wanted to settle the score. He was surrounded by many friends of his father who wanted a do over. They encouraged him with slanted analysis and misinformation, but it was really 9/11 that made up his mind. After 9/11 Bush could have attacked anyone, anywhere with the full support of the American people. To his credit he did attack the Taliban and Al Quida in Afghanistan which was the right place to begin. To his discredit , Afghanistan was always just a way station on the road to Iraq. Saddam got what he deserved, Bush got his revenge, and a new President will decide what is all was worth.

I liked this article. I believe that we are all slaves to our personal narratives. The most successful in society are the ones that have the ability to somehow renogotiate their personal narratives to suit themselves and society at large. In that wise, I think that Barrack Obama has a better grasp of his personal narrative and he seems to protect it very well. John Mccain's narrative has been partly constructed for him by society as his time as a P.O.W was chronicled well by the media. His bravery was without question during that period in his life. It would have been a different situation if he got to define those moments first, before others got the chance to do so.
All in all, their two personal narratives are as compelling as the history they both aspire to make. Perhaps these things go hand in hand. Great material for the political science student or a historical storyteller.
