"What worries the FBI most, he says, are 'lone wolves' who might be seething with anger and armed to the teeth but who do not show up on any government radar screens."

The term "lone wolf" sounds too cool, considering the context here. They should use a less attractive term, one which wouldn't promote in any way sociopathic behavior. Something along the lines of "lone chickens".

I never understand why so called smart individuals term NAZIS as right wing. They are National Socialists, and socialists are left wing, as are fascist. Fascism has its origins in the left wing socialist???s workers parties of Italy.

Right wing is about less government and more liberty. That is why the right-wing Abraham Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation. He believed in liberty for all, not just the preferred few as the Democratic party of the time supported. How easily people rewrite history and deny that the left wing Democrats supported silvery, and that the right wing Republicans that ended slavery are evil.

This is the left wing media living the great lie.

Guess it's because the Nazis are fascists and facists are as right wing as they can be, very much anti socialist and anti communist,

That's hilarious. I'm going to read again for some chuckles. Wow. Did you just doze in and out of history class? And what is silvery, anyway?

The only thing Dubbya (NEO CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING FANATIC) has done in the last 8 years is make government BIGGER!!! What are you talking about, where are your facts?? You know that one department of Homeland Security??? That's the biggest waste of money and largest department in the government. Republicans of OLD wanted smaller government....times have changed, get your facts straight.

    Dear MegaDeath,

Lincoln and JFK were in fact white but they supported the rights of blacks which got them shot. RFK who would have been the GREATEST president ever the same deal. Open your eyes and take responsibility for the insecurities and violent nature of the white race. I have.

I think that maybe it should be the Black People that need to Open THEIR eyes and take responsibility for the insecurities and violent nature of the Black Race. After all it is they who riot in the streets and have gangs run rampant from coast to coast.

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Violent animal rights extremists and eco-terrorists now pose one of the most serious terrorism threats to the nation, top federal law enforcement officials say.

Senior officials from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms (ATF) and Explosives told a Senate panel Wednesday of their growing concern over these groups.

Of particular concern are the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF).

John Lewis, the FBI's deputy assistant director for counterterrorism, said animal and environmental rights extremists have claimed credit for more than 1,200 criminal incidents since 1990. The FBI has 150 pending investigations associated with animal rights or eco-terrorist activities, and ATF officials say they have opened 58 investigations in the past six years related to violence attributed to the ELF and ALF.

In the same period violence from groups like the Ku Klux Klan and anti-abortion extremists have declined, Lewis said."

Neonazis do not beleive 9in America or demoracy. Forn any political part to do anything to foster their support like the McCain campaign has done, is supporting continued racism and anti american activities periood. After the election there should be an investigation by the FBI of the entire McCain campaign group. Neonazis don't beleive in democracy, only racist facism, just ask them and they don't hide it.. Republican in PA changing to the democrates party after I vote for Obama.

I actually do not think the RNC wants any overt contact with these groups. They will always represent the worst in human nature. At one time segregationists were both GOP and DEM, but LBJ pi$$ed off the south so they became hard-line GOP. Still, the garden variety GOP'r surely holds the neo-Nazi movement in contempt as much as anyone, regardless of political affiliation.

      Well, no.
Just like Bolshevik (Big Party) was used to create acceptability, the Nazis adopted a socialist moniker to likewise create palatability. In context, the Nazis are an ultra-right organization. Ultra right organizations tend to abuse labels to get people to go along with it. Kind of like Republican abuses the concept of Republic... with the Unitary Executive theory which is actually a dictatorship.
As for the party of Lincoln ending slavery, Lincoln only proclaimed the Emancipation Proclamation at a dark time in the war hoping for slave revolts and uprisings. It was at best a failure in that regard, and the slaves were not freed really until the 13th 14th, and 15th Amendments were enforced in law in the 1960's with the voting rights act etc. all of which occured under LBJ.
LBJ's acts there drove the bigots out of the Democratic Party into the GOP and created the fertile grounds for Nixon's Southern Strategy. The last of the Bigots crossed over in the 80's to join the 'moral majority.'
Even the Utah Mormons wouldn't allow a black into their Church until 1978.
      Red State Hate.
(You need to do some reading before just writing this stuff. There are people who lived through some of it, and passed history for the rest of it. The Nazi's, right wing. Fascism, Right wing. Most hate groups, Right wing. The GOP? A collection of Right Wing groups seperated by a common hatred of anyone not exactly like themselves.)

      • Posted By: Nins @ 10/30/2008 1:13:58 PM

The one thing I would like to add to this Braes, is that you are describing the history of how today's GOP became so entangled with the right-wing hate groups, to the point where it has been taken over by them. As a Republican I have to say that I am sick at heart over this. I believe in lots of traditional Republican values (fiscal responsibility, separation of church and state, the social contract) and it dumbfounds me that the GOP, instead of waiving the banner of it's high values, has taken the low road, dragging the party and the nation into the mud.

This year, I am voting for Obama.

God Bless America, and lead the hate-filled groups to see the error of their ways.

        • Posted By: kshortSD @ 10/30/2008 4:39:46 PM

Good post. I, too, am sorry for what the GOP has become. If you support separation of church and state, it is sad that your party has become one that tries to force it's religious beliefs through the law (teaching creationism, banning gay marriage, trying to overturn Roe v Wade). I will happily take a larger Democratic government over what the GOP has become.

Someone who finally knows something about history!!!! Thanks for posting this Braes, although it won't change many of these lemmings who go along with everything in the right, it does help educate the rest. You're right on about Utah as well, I live in SLC. Right in the city things aren't too bad but the surrounding small cities are pretty scary in terms of the hate groups.

My wife's best friend was down visiting relatives in ALA. One fellow visiting her family, a friend I presume, stated, without reservation that Obama is a [insert racial term of your choice] and should be hanged. This guy, supposedly a Vet, was relentless in his racist epithets. YIKES it is 2008! Might as well be post Civil War reconstruction south.

    • Posted By: Nins @ 10/30/2008 1:08:30 PM

MickeyMouse, you certainly picked a good name for yourself. Your grasp on history and politics is cartoonish. Read Braes' post below, and find out the facts. (Thanks, Braes, great post!)

    • Posted By: JMODERATE @ 10/30/2008 12:34:45 PM

HUH! By today's standards, Lincoln would likely be a DEM. Besides, he had no overwhelming love for blacks per se, jeez it was the mid-1860s, but he did see the folly of a divided country based upon the slavery issue. So Obama and neo-Nazi's have a lot in common. Sorry tears of laughter are coursing down my cheek as I finish this up.

  • Posted By: mrzoid @ 10/30/2008 4:00:08 PM

This is great. Most of these fools don't get any further than professing their hateful plans, and then the Secret Service comes in and picks them up; then they're thrown into prison for decades, in an atmosphere where being a white hate monger will get you sodomized and slit from ear to ear. So please keep up the threats supremesist jagoffs, the more of you locked away, the better; and i say this as a white male of German decent.

There is nothing like a question with an obvious answer to make one feel smart. Hell yes the radical skinheads are an American 'Al-Quaeda'. The only reason you put the question forth is that there is a reluctance to believe that the same people we destroyed Iraq for (that live in Afghanistan) are also living here in the United States. After all, they are white people not unlike our relatives and neighbors. Hatred the child of racial intolerance and racial intolerance is still very much alive and well in America. The comments posted in local newspapers prove that at the grass root level. But the snide remarks by news commentators tell me that the problem is much larger that many people think. But I truly thank God for those with the courage to actually support Obama simply because he is the best candidate. Maybe we can learn to live together one day. Reed's Read

They should, just like when BUSH was elected people were throwing all kinds of stuff at his motorcade. Now, Law Enforcement just needs to keep an eye out for those white hoods and we'll be fine. Time for change people

Honestly, looking at McCain and Obama objectively (without any party affiliation or any racism) I really can't see why anybody would vote for McCain. Obama has offered a much more coherent plan to get America out of the economic disaster we are in.

Right now, most people are anxious about the economy, fearing the worst but hoping for the best.

Reality check: within 18 months YOU could be standing in a bread line. That's how bad it really is. And Obama will work actively to prevent this short term, as well as make us strong again long term. As much as I like McCain and admire his patriotism, he really is not up for the job, not now with the global markets falling apart.

If Barack Obama is elected as the next President, there is always a threat on his life. Firstly, he will be the first nationally elected black leader; secondly, he is a leader who is almost akin and charismatic like JFK whose policies may not jive well with a lot of conservative policy makers; thirdly, even then other nations may also felt a threat from his international human rights policies and finally there could be "green eyes" within his community.
So law enforcement must be ever vigilant about his whereabouts, schedules, etc. etc...

No one would ever imagine a candidate of color this close to grasping the highest position in this country. God willing, I hope Obama takes it. All klansmen and other white supremacists need to beware. If something happens to Obama by your hand, you will face the wrath of an entire nation of Obama supporters, and they come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

IS that a REALISTIC THREAT??? YOU, Personally are going to attack ALL white Americans???? WOW, that's a pretty bold statement.....You might want to bring a BIGGER STICK..... McCain/Palin '08

"...face the wrath of an entire nation of Obama supporters..." please tell us, just how will black Obama supporters know which whites are Obama supporters, and vice versa, when this "wrath" is being dished out?

ARE YOU CRAZY?????? SInce the inception of this kooky black dude, with a funny name, people everywhere have been preparing for the riots..Remember what happend after the Rodney King trials???
The convention in '68? Watts?..People aren't dumb enough to think that the black community is going to take this defeat without expressing their displeasure....Americans of all races (non black) have learned that preparedness is the answer to the possibility of massive riots.. Yes, I read over every page of it - shared it with my mother-in-law (retired, 70 with poor health coverage), and you know what, two months ago she thought O as an Arab, now she plans to vote for Obama.

Ridiculous comparison. White supremacists are a small group who probably couldn't successfully organize a one car funeral. Al Qaeda is a real threat to western civilization. I certainly hope that an Obama administration would keep its eye on the ball and worry more about Islamic terrorists attacking this country than about a small group of meth addled morons. The Secret Service will take care of the President, we need the President to take care of protecting us from the enemy. Willem, you don't advance the message by asserting that the "right wing extreme religious faction" would physically threaten Obama.

    • Posted By: ICYEYES800 @ 10/30/2008 1:12:44 PM

Your comparison reminds me of Osama's statement that Iran is a small country which poses no threat tot he USA....simply put, you oversimplefly the fact that HATE is a powerful motivation.....as we've all personally experienced by the attack on 9/11....Remember Hitler was onlyh one person who inspired the hatred of many..... Instead of worrying about of white cowards who are always talking a big game but never do anything, maybe they should be focusing on inner city black on black crime. That is a true tragedy and is being committed everyday. Our inner cities are dangerous and nobody even seems shocked by the cruel murders and violent crime. These events are real and the fear of being in some neighborhoods at the wrong place and the wrong time is unjust......these neo-nazi's & KKK clowns are blowhard cowards.....show me the body count.....you can't....but I bet you won't go for a late night stroll in most inner cities.

    • Posted By: TheVigil @ 10/30/2008 12:27:57 PM

Sadly I can't say I'm that shocked by either of them. This doesn't mean we ought not to try to help them, but man's intolerance of and inhumanity to man is pretty much a consistent part of history.
