BILL RICHARDSON ALL THE WAY! This man is qualified, a true leader in the Hispanic community, already familiar with foreign policies, and this will be the ultimate thank you to the Latino community for their loyalty. He needs to show Latinos that they WILL help in leading this country too.

  • Posted By: wtram46 @ 11/06/2008 10:55:30 AM

Everybody should have known it would be like "he's OUR president!!" Isn't it always and hasn't it always been that way?? Give an inch, take a mile!!!! The white race has become a minority, THE minority and we will see the CHANGE Obama has promised--starting with the division of races again. Only this time, the black race will be touted as the top race!!! It is a given here. Our people have sold out our country to the highest bidder, and trouble is on the way.

    • Posted By: WPD192 @ 11/06/2008 11:11:08 AM

Wow you are educated!! You really believe this is all about race? Take a look around you, there are countries waiting for us to fail and we've been doing that miserably for the past 8 years. We've been letting George Dubyah run the government. Last night I listened to the Louisiana Governor who is a republican say that the republicans are to blame for this mess and they have been interested in their own agenda's for far too long. A REPUBLICAN SAID THAT. So before you start talking about how blacks are going to rule the country because of OBAMA (who is 50 percent white) you need to get educated instead of throwing your moronic opinions around like they mean something. You have a man who has a worked hard to be the best in every part of his life. He came from the lower middle class and worked his tail off in school and became the best Harvard had to offer, he is a family man, he tried to better his community and he fought long and hard to get to where he is, and all you can come up with is "THE BLACKS ARE GOING TO BE THE TOP RACE." OBAMAS first priority is to help you get a GED so you can actually start making sense.

      • Posted By: wtram46 @ 11/06/2008 12:02:46 PM

Your mentality rate is also in question here. You might as well know--I DO have a diploma, and it is not GED!!! Everybody thinks southerners are stupid--well look in the mirror to see who joins the pack here. You are shameful to your country. I sincerely hope I am wrong about Obama, but i will have to see it to believe it. As for you--I wish you the best, even if you are stupid!!!!

Bill Richardson, YES! We need a proven negotiator, and his Latino background is a built-in meta-message that the U.S. is showing a new face that the vast non-white world can more easily relate to. Kerry will do better service as Chair of Foreign Relations Committee.

    • Posted By: xlene10 @ 11/06/2008 12:01:45 PM

Please, with Mr Richardson in that position the doors will open and all his "paisanos" will have a free pass. We have all seen that the man does not respect the value of friendship and loyalty, he knows how to jump ship.

  • Posted By: caraotta @ 11/06/2008 11:41:27 AM

i guess the whole comunity has to compromisse to do our best, not only to help the next goberment, but to push the country over the economic situation, to a better paltform of duality. Not matter who is in charge, everybody looses or wins, all depending on our aptitud. So let's forget the party, and let's do a good judgement act.

    • Posted By: Prettycop @ 11/06/2008 12:01:22 PM

You are right, it's not about his skin color. It is what he can do for this messed up counrty that the people invested in Bush. Now we had to vote for the right man to try and find a solution to fix the problems that he did not create. Maybe Obama will clean this country up, but the question still stands is it still aproblem that he is a black man and he did his job?

  • Posted By: akeagle69 @ 11/06/2008 12:00:14 PM

obama needs people like mccain and palin as his top admin then he might be able to get a more solid staff along with petreaus then he needs to make the l.a. times publically show the video of him and terrorists in our own country. then he can get on with fixing everything else til then america will be divided/ oh and mr. president one last piece of advice, FIRE ALL CURRENT SENATE AND HOUSE PERSONS AND GET YOUNGER ONES IN.

    polarcat

  • Posted By: Clint2727 @ 11/06/2008 11:59:45 AM

I voted for Obama because he was the best candidate, I couldn't care less about the color of his skin. And the Clinton Administration gave us 8 years of unprecedented economic growth and prosperity, as well as lowered crime and worldwide goodwill. I can't imagine how someone could disagree with that kind of experience in President Obama's cabiniet.

And In an attempt to smear Barack Obama it has been reported that he swore in on a Quran. This has been part of a larger attempt to demonize Obama among those who fear Muslims. The story is a complete fabrication. Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison is the congressman who swore in on the Koran. Barack Obama is a Christian, and he took the Oath of Office on a Bible.

  • Posted By: Chris A @ 11/06/2008 11:58:35 AM

I didn't like either candidate but didn't vote Obama because of his socialist leanings. Some hope had been given when names like Paul Volcker and Robert Gates were being put out there that he may pull together a team that could really be moving us forward. The list in this article is disappointing to say the least. It's just retreading mediocre politicians in a different role. It's going to be a long 4 years.

  • Posted By: keyser soze @ 11/06/2008 11:56:45 AM

Change this Country needs? Are you serious? I'm embarrassed that 52% of this Counry voted for a socialist with no experience. I don't care if he's black, white or any other he is the wrong person with the wrong type of change. Change is coming all right at the expense of our Liberty and Freedom.

  • Posted By: ScottyJam @ 11/06/2008 11:56:29 AM

President Obama needs to get the Clintons on board as his advisers. He could also go after President Clinton's past advisers. They know how or can help get this deficit manageable!

  • Posted By: joyceinoklahoma @ 11/06/2008 11:36:29 AM

Bill Richardson, YES! Crucial to have a proven able negotiator, and his Latino heritage provides a built-in meta-message that the U.S. is showing a new face on the diplomatic scene that the non-white world majority may more easily relate to. Kerry will better serve taking over as Chair of Senate Foreign Relations Committee..

    • Posted By: crash33 @ 11/06/2008 11:55:33 AM

yes, lets continue the downslide of a merit based system and continue with the who has the best haircut, most stylist wardrobe, and offers up the emptiest politically correct soundbites.

  • Posted By: salliann91 @ 11/06/2008 11:32:41 AM

What I want to know is who will "the messiah" appoint in his cabinet and in key positons. Sadly, the left wing media NEVER checked him out to learn who his real friends were other than bigots like jeremiah wright and louis farakkahn; terrorists like bill ayers and Bernadette Dorn his wife; convicted felon Rezko, a syrian born crook; kahladid, spokesman for the PLO and others such as these. But he says they won't be in his government so WHO WILL BE - former Clinton supporters and who else - ??????

So are we seeing a man who will merely be a surrogate for Bill Clinton? No one knows; even fewer of the Kool aid drinking masses even care. So long as everyone gets a piece of the shared wealth! You mean a piece of the stock market that fell yesterday following the election of a man who has promised to raise taxes and become a modern day robin hood? Give me a break!

    • Posted By: ajjbm2003 @ 11/06/2008 11:55:13 AM

Ummmm....who are the "kool aid drinking masses"?

    • Posted By: Supergenius @ 11/06/2008 11:40:38 AM

Last I checked...the Obama team was strongly considered high-profile Republicans for some Cabinet positions...e.g- Lugar & Gates. So much for your "terrorist theory"

  • Posted By: jbob44 @ 11/06/2008 11:35:10 AM

The effectiveness of Obama's presidency should be immediately based on this development: Inner-city crime rates should go down to almost nothing and black-on-black crime (the most common kind) should disappear altogether. If these things don't happen, Obama's reported charisma and power of personality must not be all we've been led to believe they are. No black youth would ever consider doing anything that shows a lack of respect for his president. Would they?

    • Posted By: Just Wondering? @ 11/06/2008 11:55:07 AM

Don't be an Ass! Why do you think that now because we have a black American in the highest that all things should and would be right? Enough of the BS! The change is going to come from the parents, single parents as well and from our local elected officials, not from the President Elect!! I wish that people who post comments on here really think about what they are saying and asking of one man? Instead of trying to make President Obama carry the world on his shoulders lets start to carry some of the issues and problems on the shoulders of our local politics in our own neighborhoods. GET REAL PEOPLE, if we really want to see change come we have to stop all the bashing and pointing fingers and get to the real issues of bringing our country back to being the land of opportunity and the land of Milk and Honey!!! I'm behind you all the way Mr. President Obama!!!

  • Posted By: wtram46 @ 11/06/2008 11:01:33 AM

I read all the comments about the South and their votes--at least Southerners can spell!!!!!And all of them DID NOT vote for McCain either!! You South bashers can go to hell and take Obama with you!!!

    • Posted By: powefolks @ 11/06/2008 11:20:56 AM

I'm from the south - and you do not speak for me - I hope that the new president can help dig us out of the hole that the Bush's have dug to China

      • Posted By: wtram46 @ 11/06/2008 11:54:42 AM

I agree, but I just do not think Obama is for the US at all. He has too many blanks to suit me. I will be glad to see Bush leave and I DO hope I am wrong--we will see!!! But I still stand up for the South--we are NOT idiots here, as you well know.

  • Posted By: Obamarite @ 11/06/2008 11:53:38 AM

What America did on Tuesday was grow and by that I mean mature. The US is always referred to as a young country. The Word of God tells us, "When I was a child I thought as a child. But when I became an adult I put away foolish things". A lot of you who are huge skeptics of President Elect Obama, need to mature with the rest of America. Give him a chance to direct the future of this great country. In essence, GROW UP, SHUT UP, STOP WHINING and GIVE HIM A FAIR, FIGHTING CHANCE!!!! Sheesh!!!

  • Posted By: kiiba @ 11/06/2008 11:47:01 AM

The most important move that Obama could make at this time to facilitate his mandate for CHANGE would be to ask Pelosi and Reid to step aside for a more astute Congressional leadership

    • Posted By: jbob44 @ 11/06/2008 11:53:00 AM

Absolutely right. Pelosi and Reid are going to be huge millstones around the president's neck. Obama, however, will have nowhere near the power (or the rocks) to instigate that change, sorry to say.

    • Posted By: Chris A @ 11/06/2008 11:51:19 AM

I totally agree but it will never happen.

  • Posted By: Prettycop @ 11/06/2008 11:51:43 AM

Obama is for the people not against us. I'm sure everyone has known someone in their past that has a history that is not your business. But does that make you any different from today?. Before Obama became the President of the United States he was a well known man with any flaws and well respected . Why do people wait until a good person tries to do somethin that could better this world to find faults. We are not his judge or his jury all we can expect is that he helps this country to come together and find away to help the'budget get back on track. I know that I'm not a rich woman and I have to work hard everyday to make it , let's give Obama his chance. You gave it to Bush for * years and look at what happen we are in a messed up place. I hope that Obama can get the world back where it belongs and help the lower income famlies to get back on their feet so that we can stand strong just as well as the higher class people. Yes, I believe in Obama He has no showed me a reason not too.

    POSTED BY JR, A "SOUTHERNER".
I HAD NO QUALMS ABOUT A PERSON OF COLOR BECOMING PRESIDENT. I HAVE A MOJOR PROBLEM WITH A PERSON BECOMING PRESIDENT THAT HAS NO TRU QUALIFICATIONS TO DO SO, AND DOES NOT HAVE THE RESPECT TO HONOR HIS FLAG OR THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGANCE. THIS IS ONLY BECAUSE AS HE SAID HIMSELF, HIS ALLEGANCE IS TO 'AFRICA' NOT THE USA. THIS IS IN HIS BOOK.HE REFUSES TO SUPPLY THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION PROVING HIS US CITIZENSHIP. JOHN McCAIN WAS NOT ONLY THE BEST QUALIFIED, BUT EARNED THE RIGHT TO LEAD HIS COUNTRY. THIS MAN HAS DONE NOTHING BUT BLOW A LOT OF HOT AIR..HITLER FELL WITH OUR HELP, WHO WILL HELP US? I DOUBT IF FRANCE OR WESSTERN EUROPE WILL.!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Supergenius @ 11/06/2008 11:31:19 AM

It doesn't matter if Obama was born on the moon, you dummy. His mother was American (born in Kansas) and anyone born to American parents is automatically granted American citizenship regardless of where they were born geographically. Stop listening to your FoxNews/Rush Limbaugh/morning radio talk-shows...all they do is pollute your mind with hate and ignorance just to get good ratings by being "controversial".

      • Posted By: NStuff2 @ 11/06/2008 11:35:03 AM

And don't forget putting his hand on the Bible to be sworn in. Remember when he was sworn in the Senate.
Wasn't that the Koran he used and refused the Bible?

        • Posted By: ajjbm2003 @ 11/06/2008 11:50:08 AM

I have a question for you. Why would a Christian swear on the Qu'ran? And to answer your question, no.

        • Posted By: DAR1740 @ 11/06/2008 11:41:34 AM

No that was another senator who is a self professed muslim. Sen Obama took his oath on the bible. How many times do people have to be told before they go to an IDEPENDENT
source and FACT CHECK. and yes the use of capital letters implies that I am raising my voice.

To Jr A southerner: Since I was born and grew up in North Carolina I too am a proud southerner. And, i am more proud today as an American that we - as a nation - voted the best qualified individual to be our next President. He put together the best team, the best strategy, the best platform and proved to be the best in this election. John McCain has served this country but, when it came to leadership, proved he is sorely lacking. Barack Obama was born in the United States and it has been proved over and over again. He does not refuse to say the pledge of allegience nor to sing the national anthem - again disproved many months ago. He is a proud American who will lead our country back to its place of leadership. He will do it as a strong, diplomatic, intelligent American and most of this country is proud to have him lead us. Oh, and for the record, I'm a white, 40+ woman.

    • Posted By: powefolks @ 11/06/2008 11:31:55 AM

Also did you read this book or just an interpretation of it on the internet or hear about it on the street???

    • Posted By: powefolks @ 11/06/2008 11:29:31 AM

a person cannot run for president without being a citizen - somewhere your argument comes apart

  • Posted By: leepdx @ 11/06/2008 11:49:37 AM

I voted for a new crowd so am a bit disappointed he is looking at possible appointments for so many former Clinton staff workers. We didn't choose another Clinton administration deliberately.

  • Posted By: michael6359 @ 11/06/2008 7:30:32 AM

It is a shame that for 3000 years white people have been in charge of this country. Black people have the care- taker of white people for as long as time (cooks, gardeners, maids, babysitters, drivers, etc). But it seems that we are not good enough to be Presidents? Hum and we are still humble and support you all when it seems that white america doesn't support us. Thanks God and Obama. The old south is dead!!

    • Posted By: ConcernedAmerican10 @ 11/06/2008 11:49:16 AM

I think it is a shame that people voted for Obama simply because he IS half black in order to make a statement. In my opinion, this country is more important than that - he is not a proven leader of anything, regardless of the color of his skin.

    • Posted By: mom2bellalia @ 11/06/2008 9:29:42 AM

Michael, I'm sorry but very few whites owned slaves, only the rich and very few were rich. Don't foget that blacks also owned black slaves, and whites owned other whites. SLAVERY WAS WRONG, BUT PEOPLE HAVE EVOLVED AND LEARNED!

    • Posted By: oahuhi3 @ 11/06/2008 7:38:05 AM

Wake up ....and smell the coffee. Please don't blame us for what our ancestors did. Today the black people of America are not oppressed. They are wonderfully just as much a part of this country as any one else. Let hope America continues to grow closer to unity everyday.

    • Posted By: musicsailor @ 11/06/2008 7:36:08 AM

This country is only 232 years old, not 3000 years old. Get your fact straight if you want to sound intelligent. As for supporting the "white people", give me a break, get over it, and move on. With all the trash in the world, you cannot come up with any new garbage other than that?

  • Posted By: toria34 @ 11/06/2008 11:49:05 AM

Wow This board is filled with comments that are racist and slanderous . How many of you guys know this man personally. The accusation are just flying left and right. How many of you have ever talked to Mr. or Mrs. OBAMA? The main people that are calling people racist are the one that are making racist comment. It's truly a sad day in America, because some American are truly showing their true colors. Racism is alive and well. It is being demonstrated today on this board. I wish the OBAMA Family well . People if this President fail we fail. He represent every American. Why not get behind him and follow his vision for this country. If you can't help this country then don't hold it down with you negative comments and scare tacts. America has been ran by many different men and never was the race a problem so why now is race a problem. The world is watching and if we don't pull it together this whole country will pay the price for it as we now see from the Bush administration. People that are for themselves end up by themselves and they don't care who they hurt in the process. Change has come and the American people have spoken. OBAMA is the PRESIDENT of AMERICA . He is African-African and Carcasin, but he has never stated that he would run this country off of that and that alone (his race). He will run this country off of his experience and the help of other America electors. OBAMA is President and that is a fact. It cant be erased swept under, the carpet or hidden. He will run this country under the direction of GOD , and we should pray that he is successful. If he is successful this country will be successful. If he goes down we go down! Get it. Don't add to the problems that we already have be a solution for some of the problems. STOP BEING SO JUDGEMENTAl and RACIST. WE AS AMERICAN ARE BETTER THAN THAT. HE IS AN AMERICAN. Like it or not HE IS PRESIDENT AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT, IT'S A DONE DEAL MAYBE IF YOU PLAY YOUR CARDS RIGHT YOU CAN BE PRESIDENT ( Just kidding) Stop being so racist)
