I would really like to know exactly where Obama stands on gun control.

Relax! You'll get to cling to your guns...I plan on clinging to my religion.

  • Posted By: msdlee10 @ 11/06/2008 11:28:56 AM

Agreed, please lay off the race comments. Obama is as white as I am.... Raised by a white grandmother and his mother being white. Highly educated and more than qualified for the job. After the last 8 years, I'm a very proud American, and will give this man a chance to improve our current situation. Quit being sore losers, we've had to tolerate W for the last 8 yrs! Nothing could be that bad.

    DUDLEYOO, Your comment:
"Question if you say that he is ready to lead this country, then why is it he did not go to his natal country Kenya and try to help those that are in real need to prove to us that he can make a difference here. I hope that we don't live to see and regret that so called historic night. Just his name sound like he is a sleeping cell "Barak Hussein Obama" Could he be the anti-christ? LOL"
HAS TO BE THE MOST STUPID AND IGNORANT CHOICE OF WORDS ANYONE INDIVIDUAL CAN MAKE. HAS ANY OTHER PRESIDENT HAD TO GO TO THE HOME OF THEIR ANCESTORS TO PROVE THEIR WORTHINESS? (CAN YOU SAY...BIGOT) HE IS HARVARD EDUCATED. WELL QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT. AND I VOTED FOR HIM BECAUSE OF HIS QUALIFICATIONS NOT BECAUSE OF HIS COLOR.
YOUR BACKWARD THINKING IS WHAT IS KEEPING THIS COUNTRY FROM TOTAL GREATNESS. THE WORLD IS MULTI-COLORED AND MULTI-TALENTED. YOUR IDEA THAT ONLY WHITE PRESIDENTS DON'T HAVE TO "PROVE " THEMSELVES HELPS TO SOLIDIFY THE FACT THAT YOU NEED TO STEP BACK AND REALIZE THAT WE ARE A PART OF THE WORLD! WE ARE NOT AN ISLAND AND WE ARE NOT ALL BLIND. THE MASSIVE SEAS OF PEOPLE YOU SAW ARE ALL ONLY BEING DRAWN BECAUSE HE WAS A FRESH FACE? SO WAS SARAH PALIN, BUT .....
SAY HI TO YOUR NEW PRESIDENT BARCK HUSSEIN OBAMA! AND YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ANTI-CHRST, NOT THE ANTI-CHRIST BUT ANTI-LOVE, ANTI HOPE, AND VERY VERY SELFISH.

I'M SO HAPPY THAT MY PRESIDENT IS BLACK !!!! FINALLY WE CAN PROVE THAT GOD IS REAL AND HE IS THE HEAD OF OUR LIVES CAUSE IT WAS GOD THAT HELPED OBAMA AND THE POWER OF MARTIN LUTHER KING!!!

  • Posted By: IslandPress @ 11/06/2008 11:27:10 AM

Maybe Obama would like to consider creating the new position of "Climate Change Czar"? Terry Tamminen, former Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency and author of "Lives Per Gallon," might be a good choice, according to some: http://www.islandpress.org/

    PLEASE TAKE CORZINE
NEW JERSEY WILL BE GLAD TO GET RID OF HIM
HOPE HE TAKES HIS GIRLFRIEND WITH HIM

    • Posted By: sebs112 @ 11/06/2008 11:25:18 AM

NO, NO, NO!!! Look what he's done to NJ. Do you really want to trust him with our country's finances? Obama will create an even bigger mess with that appointment. This would be similar to the Whitman EPA appointment...Just vote him out next year.

Comment to wtram46: Wow, you are truly pathetic. in what world do you live in where all races were treated equal to begin with; even though our Constitution states that, America has never lived up to it's own words. Yes there is a black man as president, but he is not the President of the Minorities, he is the President of the United States. What if every minority were as skeptical and cynical as you when ALL of our leaders have
never truly reflected our nation as a whole? Change starts from within, stop viewing your race as some master race and embrace the fact that true leadership should know no color boundaries. You have obviously never had to consider the fact that someone is actually on your level. You have a very skewed sense of entitlement. This country belongs to any and all who come here, honor it, and abide by its laws. Let go of the foolish stereotypes and beliefs and embrace the fact that the time is now for you and anyone who thinks like you, to change.

Mandylea5705 "He'll be wanting to shut down Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon in an effort to cut costs." hahahaha as a fellow new jerseyite i agree, we cannot let him have power on a national level.

If you are correct, and I have no reason to believe you aren't since you are from his state - this could be a problem - Our parks and reserves need to be protected

yes Obama and the democratic party made great victory but ther is diffrence between the change with challange and just local political victory he must also give the chance to his genration in administration

  • Posted By: loveparkston @ 11/06/2008 10:03:50 AM

That is mean and hateful. This has to end. This is why the rest of the world hates us. For Palin to stand in her church and say "We are doing Gods work" in reference to Irag, makes her just as much of a Jihadist as the extremeists you want to fight. You are all a bunch of sheep. Get out there and read some history, and stop spewing hateful comments. You call Obama an elitest, I think it is because you are jealous that you are not educated. He is educated, and this bothers you, the fact that an African American may be more educated than you, how did this happen you wonder. It happened because your redneck ass was too busy watching NASCAR to bother to read or go to school. He worked hard to get to where he is, from nothing he became SOMETHING great. A great humanitarian, a great Father, a great Husband, and a Man who wants to fight for every American, not just the privilaged few.

    • Posted By: Cattrax @ 11/06/2008 10:28:42 AM

In regard to Palin thinking she is "doing God's work", I do not think that God wants us to engage in the destruction of the earth He created and the beautiful creatures on that earth. There is nothing sportsmanlike about aerial hunting of wolves and other animals for sport. It is cruel and certainly not what one would expect of good stewards of God's creations. I was a Republican until the Religious Far Right took over the party. We need to respect the cultures and religions of other countries and we can do that while remaining devout Christians. Jesus Himself spent most of His time with "sinners" and others that the religious rulers of His time condemned. I am a white person but supported Obama and believe he can bring together people of all races as Americans united in purpose for a better country and a better world.

      • Posted By: ellis11 @ 11/06/2008 11:23:34 AM

He is NOT black. He is half African half white American. And he was raised by white people. Why don't you read up on that before making ignorant comments about the education of others.

    • Posted By: usa united @ 11/06/2008 10:22:32 AM

I can't believe the igorant rants your saying your talking about one person being down on obama but then you do exactly the same by putting them down , I wonder why people like that person and myself think obama thinks he's above the rest when theres people like you supporting him . I just know you can tax all you want the rich but you can't make them keep there money or there business here I guess we can all watch more jobs go over seas and to south america

The election of President-elect Barrack Obama as the 44th president of the USA is a great leap in democracy. The entire process has taught us in Africa that politics is not about obtaining personal gains but that democracy is a process owned by the people for the people. I think this should be a wake up call to African leaders who imagine that polical leadership is about sticking to power until they stink. African leaders, especially here in Kenya where Mr. Obama has ancestral roots, should take his election as a blessing and embrace the kind of democracy demonstrated by the great people of America. I am sure that if Mr. Obama was in Kenya and tried the presidency, he would have been branded a tribalist, etc, etc.

His election has proved that no barrier can prevent anyone from ascending to any position anywhere in the world.

If you would take the time to read a Bible. Go to Leviticus 20:13, Case closed,

    • Posted By: xman300 @ 11/06/2008 10:24:00 AM

      Passage Leviticus 20:13:
13(A) If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

Can't be any plainer than that. Thank you.

      • Posted By: leopard88 @ 11/06/2008 11:21:54 AM

This was Moses's Law and guess what "they really did put people to death" for being gay. Moses disobeyed God's law because God plainly told him "thy shall not kill". They also burned women at the stake who were accused of being witches in Salem, Mass. Does this make it right to murder someone because you don't approve of who they? Our history shows us that black men were murdered for looking at white woman. The bottom line is people need to understand that these were man's ideas and belief's and they were in no way inspired by God. Christ taught men to love one another regardless of the other's fault's or sin. The reality is we are all sinners saved by God's grace. We need to clean up own faults so we can see clearly how to pray for the sins of our brothers and sisters. Obama is where God chose for him to be. God bless America!

    • Posted By: leopard88 @ 11/06/2008 10:52:46 AM

I have read the Bible and you need to get out of the old testiment and read what Christ spoke about. Try reading Mathew, Mark Luke and John. He taught us to love one another regardless of the other's faults. Christ taught us not to judge that "we ourselves may be judged". We need to stop picking certain things that we find detestable and look at the whole picture. Americas like many nations of the world is endowed with sin. It's all around us and for this reason Christ died for all men. We who believe we are Christians need to pray for president elect Obama because he is where God entended for him to be.

    My picks:

Sec of State-Richardson or Lugar (leaning toward Lugar)
    Attorney General-Janet Napolitano
    NSA-Steinbert
Defense-Danzig or Hagel after Gates (He's got to stay on for awhile)
Treasury-Geithner (Selecting a Wall Street Tycoon to head our nation's economy just doesn't sit well with me...and NO NO NO to fired Goldman Sachs ex CEO and NJ Gov Corzine!!!)

To Tv911: How is that we are strong and capable now? The last 8 years have been a disaster for the nation. Our current president has dragged us into the ground, lied to us, mismanaged our government and placed our military in harm's way for his own misguided priorties. As far as our Constitution and Bill of Rights, Bush, Cheney and company have damaged that long ago. What did you just wake up from an eight year nap? You think this is the wrong choice because it's not YOUR choice.

ok so let me get this right - Obama is an African American - his family is from Africa - so my question is where was he born? I have yet to see proof that he was born in Hawaii -

    • Posted By: Supergenius @ 11/06/2008 11:14:29 AM

It doesn't matter if he was born on the moon, dummy.....his mom was American. Anyone born to an American parent is automatically an American citizen regardless of where they were geographically born. Stop listening to your FoxNews/Rush Limbaugh/morning radio talk-shows...they're making you and all their listeners complete idiots.
