WHERE IS GORE??? Look at all he has done to educate people all over the world about the dangers of Global Warming, etc. He has been able to unite other countries with us in a quest to resolve this crisis. That in itself qualifies as foreign policy experience, along with his previous role as V.P. HE is the true maverick, and should at least be considered for Energy Secretary...He could, and would, do wonders!

there is NO ONE more qualified than COLIN POWELL for Secretary of Defence, except maybe John Mcain. Please people how can you put a politico in charge of this office. As for the Treasury Warren Buffet. The man knows how to make money no matter what. Secretary of State, don't really like any of the 4 front runners but if I had to choose I'd go with Holbrooke. Attorney general thats a gimme it's going to be Ogletree. The NSA None of the above... can't think of someone right now but it'll come to me. All I ask is to NOT give the positions to all the same old tired people. He said "change" so if he gives them to all the same old people we won't have it.

I've heard people say that Barack Hussain Obama wasn't elected because he was black yet watch the news and listen to all media, that is exactly why he was elected. My problem is that we elected an Arab American not an African American. Look at the crooks he wants to start filling his cabinet with. Kerry lost once and obviously for a reason. The Clintons, hello, he was the Commander in Chief and had affairs multiple times. What happened to morals? When a democratic Congress, Nancy Pelosi and her followers, was voted in our troubles as a nation began. Bush has an approval rating of 25% and Congress has a rating of 15%. Do the math, better yet let's have a president with no experience with a group of Dems behind him that are putting our country in a state of Socialism and Marxism. Hey all of you who voted for Barack Hussain Obama, just wait and see what happens next. Better yet, you made your beds now lie in them. The night he was elected I prayed that he will take this country down the right path, for him to make the right decisions for all Americans, and that there aren't some idiot black hate group that will try to hurt him or his family. I didn't vote for him but he will my president and I respect that. He is a human being above all else with a wife and 2 beautiful girls and I pray to the Lord every night that the racial divides will heal and we can move on. Congradulations and I can't wait until 2012 and hopefully there will be and outstanding Republican candidate to vote for.

To everyone who believes Obama is a terrorist, an Arab, a Muslim; you are the most ignorant, uneducated people in America because obviously you have not taken the time to educate yourself about the FACTS and the TRUTH. Yes ignorant white people be very very afraid

      • Posted By: Obelix @ 11/06/2008 10:42:26 AM

Whoever you are spots1979 you sound very much like someone from out of Africa I am not American but am from Africa and your threat towards white people that they should be very much afraid sounds like Robert Mugabe In Zimbabwe who refuses to step down as President when he was honestly voted out of office earlier on this year he is nothing but a thug who has slaughtered his own people and destroyed a country that was once very prosperous as a nation by destroying and using the same threat as you just have towards white people, I would be very careful at the way you express yourself on American soil as I am sure President Obama would be deeply disturbed by your callous comments especially as he does seem to be sincere in not wanting to be a President that polarizes people even more, however people like yourself and other's that I have read in this list of comments proves to me that America is a very divided Nation and will be for a very very long time to come Obama will not be able to breach that divide as so many of you think, also like other's have said here when one looks at his cabinet choices so far there doesnt seem to be much that is actually changing all old school and people who have screwed up badly in the past already....this is very sad to see for a man of his calibre and for what he has protrayed to you folk during his campaign...now the truth is slowly peeking through....it will be rather interesting to see and watch how things unwind and yes in a few years what are American's going to be thinking then of the choice they made now....personally there were no good candidates on both sides...and Bush certainly ruined it for the Reps. however there is always hope in the future....and in life....and good to see in some comments here that there are still people who are very level headed about the realities of life. I am not American but have watched this campaign with great concern and can only say to you as a nation that once was great just like Rome once was in history but then she to fell, May God Have Mercy on You All. By the way Abortion is out and out murder it is cruel to say the least to not give an unborn or partially born child a right to life I have never understood why there is even such a thing as abortion in this world you grumble about the men and women who have fallen in wars and indeed that is a sad and terrible thing but yet as a nation you are silent to the millions of unborn babies who lost their right to life because you simply did not protect that right you brutally have taken it away from them. It is God who ordains life on this earth who gives it and takes it away we as humanbeings have absolutely no right to determine as to whether a baby lives or dies. This to me if I were American be the number one biggest reason I would not have voted for Obama because he sanctions abortions. May God Have Mercy On Him and America if this is how he believes.

Maybe it is weird to write here as I am not an American, I am a Romanian, but am very aware of the situation in the U.S. I find it totally teribillistic to call Barack Obama a Socialist, or wors yrt a marxist. Why would you do that? Because his politics are not similar to the rigid Republican ideas which you believe in? And, what is more, you should take a look at European politics. There are mainly 2 dominant parties: The Popular Party(Right Wing), and the Socialists(Left Wing), who dominate the European Parliament and who are NOT considered communists or Marxist. You should really try to make a difference...

This needs to stop being about race. People need to stop calling people ignorant and listen and read statements made by Obama himself. He has change the place of his birth so many time I don't think he even knows where he was born; he promised all of these big things and the word is that he told some blacks that they wouldn't have to pay mortgages or pay for gas. This comes from their mouths, not mine, they were saying it on tv and on radio. There should be no handouts for anyone. If you are able bodied then you should work and pay for your way, stop getting government help to pay for your bills then you use all your money on expensive clothes and shoes. Popular vote didn't win Obama the election, he recieved the most electorial votes, thats because the blacks saw him as a person who would be out to benifit them as a group, not for America as a country. This cant be about race or we wil end up having riots like never seen before.

Well if John McCain would have won would your blog started off. POW, Cheater, Keating Five, Gordon Liddy friend, and the man who did not put COUNTRY FIRST when he picked Sarah Palin. I do aplaud your ending statement in wishing this family well with your prayers

This comment is for Eagles1776, I like how you had to add in the comment about "entitlements" whats wrong with you people, why do you need to depend on the goverenment, I am only a high school grad, but somehow I make very good money, I did it by working hard and finding new oppurtunities. dont depend on the govt, they have never helped before so why now.
As for GoBidden. Hey I must admit, Palin does need to shut her mouth, all have to say is where was BIDEN, probably locked in a closet with Rev Wright

  • Posted By: moryes @ 11/06/2008 10:41:38 AM

This comment is for Carolyn Babington. I too am very saddened by some of the "christian values" behind the Obama platform, but I still casted my vote for him as there were other things I still felt made him a better choice for our next president. My question to you is this, what are you doing now to prevent abortions, and unwanted pregnancies? Are you active in your community? Are you talking to teenagers? Are you writing your congressman? To me those who say they did not vote for Obama because of morals and values, what are you doing to change what we are doing today???

  • Posted By: mbellovich @ 11/06/2008 8:27:10 AM

Duped because he's not picking 50% of women? What? He's going to pick who's qualified and who will help make that change. Wow, you're a feminist. I bet you just cringed everytime you heard Palin speak! Ha. If you're not on board with a man who's trying to turn this world around, by all means, move out of the country. We don't need any more negativity. The Bush administration tore this country apart and it's people like you who are already fighting for our new president to fail. You're one of the problems with this country.

    • Posted By: Jane A. @ 11/06/2008 10:40:05 AM

Do you have such a low opinion of women that you don't think that there are enough qualified women in the US to make up 51% of BO's cabinet?

Time will tell if the Obama presidency will fix any of our problems. Pray for wisdom for him and his staff!
I didn't vote for Obama because, realisticly, I believe his policies on taxes and health insurance will surely burden the small businesses, if not put them out of business. A small business is typically classified as one with 50 or less employees. And the fewer employees, the higher the insurance because higher the claimes risks. Do the math~ a gross income of 250k will be taxed at 39%. Suddenly, that income has dropped to 152K. Now remove overhead expenses: Business mortgage or rent, property insurance & maintenanc; vehicle and/or equipment purchases, insurance and maintenance; employee health insurance (Obama says you'll be fined if you don't provide); utilities; etc, etc. Then this business man has to provide his own home, utilities and upkeep for his own family. The list goes on. Of course the private worker making 250k won't have near as much expense, but his hard earned money he could be putting away for his kids' futures is being "spread around" in public funding! If they must increase this tax, it should have been on businesses only, more than 100 employees, and those grossing 750K or more. There's plenty of them out there. And, they would still be grossing 450K after the 39% come off the top.
Again and again, Obama said "the average, middle class, person" making 250K or more will be the only ones getting this tax increase. "Average person'? He uses this term loosly! I don't know any "average people" making half this much. If 250K is average, the majority of us are "lower class" or poverty (me included).

Whether or not you respect the man, you have to respect the office. He is our President and Commander-in-Chief. It is not the Presidency that concerns me, it is the lack of balance in our Democratic dominated congress.

  • Posted By: Heyjude20 @ 11/06/2008 10:18:53 AM

Please tell me this is not true - I just heard that Obama offered Oprah a position in his administration! You have got to be F**king kidding me! The biggest racist on TV is offered a job? That is such a joke!

    • Posted By: leopard88 @ 11/06/2008 10:38:26 AM

So Oprah Winfrey is a "racist" because she endorsed Barack Obama? First of all I don't believe Miss Winfrey was offered any signifigant position in Obama's administration. Secondly people need to get over themselves with regard to referring this brilliant business woman as a racist. After reading that Miss Winfrey recieved racist calls because she would not allow governor Sarah Palin on her show makes me curious as to why this makes her a racist. Oprah stated unequivically that she did not want to turn her show into a political arena after she introduced Mr Obama to America. She stuck to that promise! Now a certain group of people who sound like racists themselves after hearing some of the comments that were made during these phone calls want to accuse her of being racist. I'm not a huge Ophra fan but the last thing I would ever accuse her of is being racist. Ophra did not elect Obama president, the Americ an people did. Look at the numbers. God bless America!

    • Posted By: LS MO @ 11/06/2008 10:28:31 AM

In the first place, I doubt this is true. Oprah has a pretty successful career already..... Secondly, she is one of the most well-known people in this country and has a huge following. Why should she not be considered?

    To one in the same,
I do agree that it is important for all of us to support our President, differences and parties aside. However, I strongly disagree that God is dead. He is alive and in control. I know him and know that he has a plan whether or not is the one that we may have chose. And the puritans were trying to escape persecution from the catholic church and all of the reformations but they were not trying to escape christianity (Christ). They were searching for freedom TO WORSHIP the way that they wanted to and the way that they believed. They loved Christ SO much that they were willing to be persecuted for their beliefs and not conform to beliefs they didn't hold to be true. Our nation was founded on Christianity, read the constitution and their is no question that the puritans new and loved God and were putting this Nation that has since prospered in his mighty hands. They were not running from christ but from religious persecution, two VERY different things and their leaving their home in search for religious freedom shows how much they loved christianity, real true christianity that is based on love.
I am not writing you this to argue with you but I just don't want anyone to be mislead and to assure you that God is not dead.
I take pride in my conservative christian beliefs, abortion alone is murder and is a sin and I will vote based soley on my morals every election, not on my wallet or on any other issues. God is alive and well, loving and stong, powerful and mighty!! And I assure you that his hands are guiding this Nation that belongs to him (as well as everything else) at all times. I thank GOD that he has blessed me with the little knowledge of him that I have and just wanted to share a little bit of it with you. God is not dead nor will he ever be God was here before this earth and will always be here for eternity!!

I am a Canadian, married to an American, and we live in Canada. I literally bawled on election night, had goosebumps on my entire body. I looked at my husband through tears and said, honey, Americans FINALLY took back THEIR country tonight and do you know how profound that is? I have free health care ~ have rheumatoid arthritis where I have to take about $30,000 in meds a year - we're covered. My husband's Dad is 79 years old, lives in the US, is a retired Korean War Vet and MUST still work, driving a school bus, to pay the $19,000 a year for his wife's health care costs. This sad on so many levels and it baffles me that Americans don't see this as wrong - perhaps it's because they've never seen it any other way. Your country needs change. I truly believe President Elect Obama will RE-unite your country with the rest of the world. As your neighbours to the right - we're so proud, relieved and grateful that you made the right choice because we could not take another 8 years of Bush either. Thank you from Canada.

Negative thinking only pushes Black America to the top...i.e President Obama . Please get it right individuals with all backgrounds REGARDLESS of status on the social poll have made a statement to close out personal pointless view points like yours.

It's amazing to me that many individuals forget that during the Clinton terms things were not all peachy. We had a president who went on national telivision and lied by saying, "I did not have sex with that women." Who had policies against terrorism that led him to send missles into Afghanistan to bomb the talliban sights there. How much more corruption is needed. Oh, I couldn't possibly remember this, because my pockets were too full at that time.
