Hey how about offering the Secretary of state to McCain. I think this would go a long way to healing some open wounds in republican party and show considerable bi-partisanship. I think it would be a great offer and if McCain turn it down you still get the good will points with the right. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

proudamerican87, you have got to be kidding with your comments. If anything, you ought to be ashamed of yourself for speaking in such way. I am a Native American woman, I speak to all kinds of people, wheather they are white, black, yellow, red, whatever color.....we all have opinions, we differ in lots of ways, but I treat people the way I want to be treated. Being scared of black people is only in the movies. You say you're reserved and have self control.......get real! Walk a mile in my moccasins before you speak, you'll change your mind fast. We as Native Americans were here first on this land, we've been through so much, you speak of gangs or pistols.....we used arrows (ouch!) Everyone's heart is filled with good, you just have to talk to them to see it.

Punctuation, grammar, and ignorance aside, unless you are a full-blooded Native American, all Americans were at one time immigrants... and certainly your ancestors were. If you have forgotten your history, all of the western USA that was not part of the Louisiana Purchase was ripped off from Mexico in for 15 million pesos at the point of a gun. Folks speaking Spanish in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada are simply following their birthright. It was THEIR LAND until we took it from them under the guise of "Manifest Destiny." I read your post and all I see is a pamphlet for White Power (which, by the way, is neither). I have lived in a country where I was a segregated minority (as a Caucasian) and I have lived as the majority in the USA... the problems aren't language and culture, they are DISCRIMINATION and narrow-mindedness. If you want you color... good, you're stuck with it anyway. If you want your religion, the relationship with Christ is a personal one anyone (re-read your book). If you're tired of your life being upside-down, take personal responsibility for it instead of blaming minorities for your small-minded world view and self-fullfilling hatred/persecution paradigm in life. Were you writing a response to a post on cabinet nominations or a booklet for the KKK?

a friend of mine who is white had some black trick a treaters the other night and not only did the black kids slash people's tires, they opened up mailboxes and threw their garbage all over people's lawns. They also destroyed their displays on their lawns. Enough said!

If you are a minority and making more than a white family you still get grants from the government to help you get into college. And apparently you could not get into a college or you would have known that YES! colleges do have quotas and white people cannot get into a college if it has to meet its quotas - even though the white person is more qualified! Quotas do not even out opportunity - it is designed to give the opprtunity to minorities who do not deserve to be there because they did not earn it -

Your comment is just proof of the racism that still exists, however, your words are meaningless because they don't hold any truth to them. I am a proud american too, but I don't need to make myself feel better by bashing others based on color. Its a sign of insecurity and maybe a cry for help.

Heyjude20, just don't go there, it shows how enlightened and educated are you.Do you want to compare the statistics of black people that have been wrongly likked to that of white? Don't pretend as if all thses crimes are not happening. A white person is not better than a black person, the problem is that they're not given equal opportunity. Even the government realizes this, that is why black neighborhood are poorly funded . so what's your arguement all about. All what we need as a nation is to put all these behind, rally behind who is elected and together we can move this country forward.

This morning they were showing pictures on the news of slavery and Martin Luther King and all the happenings of a time long ago that doesn't go on today. The only slavery that is happening is the black people who enslave themselves. The majority of other races do not see this anymore. As unfortunate as it was, it was the past and we can't move on when with a future when this is constantly talked about. We are all equal people. Woman are the ones who are truly oppresses. Black people could vote before women could. Women had less rights then anyone. Women are still crying about, they are doing something about it. In every race there are ones who commit crimes and make the others look bad. Blacks need to move on and get out of the past. Rich black people today have maids, butlers, groundskeepers, worrkers, and all sorts of personal help. Does that make them slave owners too? Some of these workers are black, white, mexican, and all other races. Why are white people crucified for the color of out skin yet it's ok for anyone else to play the race card. Move on people. By the way, whites are pretty much the minority so when do we get our own white heritage month and our own white college fund, wait that would be racist, right? Talk about unfair.

Boy...supposedly Obama was supposed to unite all of us.....we sound more divided than ever! Let's hope this is not the legacy of his presidency. Also let's remember that Obama is half white, and was raised by his white mother and white grandmother after his black father abandoned him.
