I am a republican but I voted for Obama because I fee that if something happened to McCain given his medical background I do not feel Palin is the right person to be sitting in the most powerful office of our country at a time like this. If she had a few more years under her belt as a senior polital figure, I would have voted different. Beside the fact that I felt Mit Romney should have been the Vice President candidate for the republicans.

For the first time I finally feel like our country is heading in the right direction. For the first time I actually believe in what a politician is saying, and I have complete faith in him. I hope Obama stays true to his promises because he has a lot to live up to. I'm so happy that FINALLY we have a president who can do a lot of good for this country. And for all you people out there who are whining and mad that McCain lost -- please, stop making completely innaccurate, ignorant statements because you're pissed your candidate did poorly. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but to make innaccurate statements that have proven to be untrue, shows how un-informed and ignorant you really are. We had to suffer for 8 years with a president we didn't want. Now it's your turn to squirm. Except unlike Bush, Obama will actually benefit you and this entire country.

Have all of you who DID NOT vote for Obama not realized he didn't win that election and turn states like VA from red to blue states because of the color of his skin!! That kind of thinking is why the Republicans LOST!! We as AMERICANS were looking for that ray of HOPE!! I've never seen so many as emotional and proud and hopeful as when JFK was around. We voted for him because he touched our hearts and minds!! All McCain gave us was fear and intimidation and racism, all the things from our past as a nation that we are trying to RISE ABOVE!!

Obama won because people vote their pocketbooks, plain and simple. Look at the ouster of every past party in power based on the economy. With a better economy the outcome might have been different. It is what it is.
He has no experience and it looks like we are about to get a warmed over Clinton administration if the cabinet picks go anywhere near what the media is predicting. Giving all the keys to the Federal government to the Democrats is a mistake we will soon regret I'm afraid. Pelosi and bunch are about to open your pocketbooks...I do love the fact Obama already made the excuse "it might not be a year, it might not be in the first term..."already setting himself up for a second term and having the excuse ready if he doesn't deliver. We'll see what someone with his inexperience is capable of accomplishing.

I think it is about time for a secession, where are the balls of the south when you need them? I think the first thing President Obama should do is cancel the food stamps and review the welfare of the people and give them work to help our economy move, this are the people who supported him.

Please don't forget that Obama is NOT Black, he is half black, and that doesn't matter anyways. We voted for candidates, not for a color of skin. I am a white female who voted for Obama because we don't need another Bush term. Obama is a man for change, a positive change, for EVERYONE. Blacks, Whites, Gays, Straights, even if you didn't vote for him, he will be your president too. Stop making this a race issue when it's clearly not. It's about electing a qualified candidate that you believe has your best interest as well as the country's best interest at mind. I've not met one person who thinks he's the next "Messiah" but I do think that he will bring much needed change to the government, and won't be providing "handouts" to black people because they are owed it. You cannot believe how stupid people who voted for Obama? Please read your own ignorant comments and think about that. Read a newspaper, a book, do some research, and support your new President because as Americans, we all have the right to our opinions, and we have the right to vote for OUR candidate. He's a qualified, dignified, intelligent man, who can pull this country in the right direction, and get us out of the rut that GWB put us in. Like Obama said, it's not going to happen in a year, maybe not in one term, but if we all work together we CAN fix the economy, and this country.
