Right now the most important thing we can do as a nation is repair our image around the world. The rest of the world hates us and we will go nowhere if that continues. I do not mind paying a little more in taxes to assist soemone else, it is my duty as a "Christian". I do not recall a time when Christ said to the sick, "No you do not have health insurance, I can't help you" or "It doesn't matter that you work and can't afford food, you are on your own" I use to be a Republican and a Christian, and then all the hate that people like you have displayed turned me off to both. I am a child of God as everyone else on this earth and it is my duty to help others. I, as a white female, voted proudly for Obama. He has the same values I have. Help one another. And what makes selfish people like you so ignorant, is that you fail to realize if we help people to help themselves crime will go down and that my friend is sastifaction enough. All over the world in civilized countries such as ours, they do NOT have the crime that we have or teen pregnancy. You people need to wake up and understand we are in a new era. Stop judging others and look at your own inadequacies.

Our image to the world will be that of economic chaos and 12-14% unemployment. Nice image!

Where have you been for the last 3 years???Mars? What do you think has been going on in this country. I mean,.. really.

  • Posted By: olooto @ 11/06/2008 12:33:28 PM

you guys just need to give this guy a chance. He was the best candidate with the right judgement, well educated, smart and above all cool calm and collected. Not offence, McCain was in the last bottom of his class at the Naval Academy, erratic, can't control himself. I think it's high time you guys live with it, He's the President and their is nothing you can do. take it or you leave it. it's the fact.

Wow, freetospeak. Did someone help you write that or did you come up with that stupidity all by yourself.
Diversification is what built this country and it would take a pretty shallow mind, which obviously you have, to think everyone is stupid enough to jump to whatever side it is your trying to sell. Yes, 61% of the votes for Obammy were not black. Stupid, but not black. I think that makes them democrats, not racists. But you're probably right on that part, it would take an inbred racists to be a democrat.

    • Posted By: freetospeak @ 11/06/2008 9:17:17 AM

you are a true racist and you are the reason so many people in this country voted the way they did... get over it . And by the way I said nothing about diversity being a problem. Learn how to read.

      • Posted By: brokeroncall @ 11/06/2008 12:32:35 PM

I may be, but from the filth I read from you, it's obvious you are a true idiot. I got over it dummy. The only positive thing that came out of this election is the proof the finally his idiot rev. Wright finally got one right.
God truly damned America on 11-04-08.

I am a 'white girl' and I had tears in my eyes when OBAMA won. He's either too white or too black. For the fact he's new to politics is a good thing. HE IS OPEN MINDED AND NOT AFRAID TO ASK QUESTIONS. Some know it alls don't ask and screw the U.S. Go OBAMA!!!!!

  • Posted By: Heyjude20 @ 11/06/2008 12:02:54 PM

I love how people say Obama represents every American - that is why he said he is going to elect Judges that are sensitive to African Americans, the disabled, the gays and the elderly. So I guess that means I have to change my color, become gay, break a leg and age 40 years. Sounds fair to me

    • Posted By: Obamarite @ 11/06/2008 12:16:33 PM

A broken leg heals and won't make you disabled, if you're gay (which I think you are) you can change mind or lifestyle, for your lack of pigmentation you can go to a tanning booth, just keep living and you will age that 40 years.... you idiot!

      • Posted By: wwagnac @ 11/06/2008 12:30:14 PM

You forgot to report that you would have to stop being a racist as well

  • Posted By: johntheadams @ 11/06/2008 12:22:15 PM

Under Obama you can expect a massive escalation of the war in Afghanistan as well as a militaryt draft. he press will shutup out of fear of being deemed "politically incorrect" for criticizing a black leader. The capitalist class put up big bucks to get this man in office, and they expect the debt to be repaid-with interest. In their quest to build an American Empire, the capitalist class now needs Obama, a man naivily much-loved and able to lead young Americans to their deaths on battlefields.

Last comment for today, as i have more important things to do--this is for WPD192--educated or not, it doesn't matter here--i simply do not trust the guy. I could care less what color he is--I simply stated my sentiments about where we are going. I hope I am wrong, but even that does not make YOU right!!! Obama might be a great President--and I hope he is, but his friends leave a lot to be desired, including you!!! Again I do not trust him--not yet anyway. And I DO hope color doesn't get in the way--from EITHER side. I wonder if Michelle is proud of her country today???

  • Posted By: CoralSpringsMan @ 11/06/2008 9:06:55 AM

I am niether Republican or Democrat and supported niether candidate as I am totally disgusted and tired of the same games played by ALL of Congress and the President. It seems that one way or another all presidents/senators/representatives get their palms greased one way or another by lobbyists or others. Decisions are made on Capitol Hill based on MONEY. These decisions have no regard for race, color, or religion so Obama should fit in just like the rest of the presidents. I would have to see a TOTAL shake up of the establishment by Obama for me to gain back the faith and trust of the Government. Then I will say what a great person he is. Lets see if he is true to his word also and picks people of ALL parties in his cabinet. The proof is in the pudding/show me the money!!!

      whyalltheBS
I'm just wondering about one thing? Why is so much pressure put on this man to produce? Why does he have to make it work in such a short time frame? Why does he have to be the one to come and fix all the problems that congress created? Are we truly forgetting that this mess that we are in did not come about on the 4th of November, but has been around for at least 8 years? Why don't we start to put some of the burden on our local officials? That is where some if not all of our issues should be fixed or repaired. Start looking out your front door for the help that is needed in your communities. Stop trying to make our new President pay for all the wrong and all the mess that we are in today.

      • Posted By: CoralSpringsMan @ 11/06/2008 12:26:33 PM

The mess that is here was not ONLY the result of the past years...that is the problem with the current status quo. This mess is the culmination of MANY past presidents, including Carter, Reagan, Clinton, and Bush. BOTH PARTIES. This is the problem with the PARTISAN thinking. Stop putting blame and get going on fixing things together. BOTH parties are responsible for not getting things done. How many presidents have run on a SOCIAL SECURITY and HEALTH CARE fixing platform and not delivered. BOTH parties are guilty. I sense that the reply that I got was from a die hard Democrat. Lets start by being die hard AMERICANS first and fix problems together. I dont expect one president to fix all of the problems all at once. They will take time, but SOMEONE has to step up and rattle Washington with a backbone to stand up to the good ole boys there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Posted By: WHY @ 11/06/2008 12:26:07 PM

what did we do now?------All I can say is anyone who voted for Obama in four years will be looking back and asking " How did we get here? And why are we in this hand basket????

For the good of the country I hope he removes "Scary" Kerry from any and listed hopefuls. (Too bad he can't do the same with Biden). I wish him luck (he'll need all the good he can get) in trying to bring the country together.

  • Posted By: cpajkd @ 11/06/2008 11:19:43 AM

you are totally negative, and out of touch, except for Julie who I respect because she is will to disagree.. I wonder where darlina28 gets her information. Obama graduated top in his class at harvard.; He was the class president. What college did you graduate from,? what was you class ranking? You and gadwag21 are very small minded, you are kinda people who give americans a bad name to other countries. Finally the free world has some respect for us just because of this huge step of electing someone who might be intelligent enough guide us through such terrible times.

    • Posted By: gadawg21 @ 11/06/2008 12:23:19 PM

cpajkd - not sure what I said to be included in this post. Please enlighten me. I've never questioned Obama's intelligence as he is obviously well-educated. I do question his policies and his readiness, however. I think not to do so is, as you say, small minded.

  • Posted By: Clint2727 @ 11/06/2008 11:58:36 AM

I voted for Obama because he was the best candidate, I couldn't care less about the color of his skin. And the Clinton Administration gave us 8 years of unprecedented economic growth and prosperity, as well as lowered crime and worldwide goodwill. I can't imagine how someone could disagree with that kind of experience in President Obama's cabiniet.

Not Kerry. Please not Kerry!!! He is the only reason I voted for Bush in 2004. Secretary of State is the most important appointment Obama has to make. Kerry's appointment would be a disasterous start to Obama's presidency and fuel all the fears people have that he will take a hard left turl. Besides, Kerry has a skewed view of America's interests in the world and would be unreliable asour diplomatic fropnt man. Firther, he has hoof and mouth disease. Please, not Kerry.

    • Posted By: SDgranny @ 11/06/2008 12:21:59 PM

I agree, we do not want Kerry! We also do not want the Clintons! If the nation is to change, it must have people in power that want change, not the same old, same old!

Now that Colin Powell has sort of put himself out of the running, as Secreatary of State, I think that Bill Richardson would make an excellent choice, because of his excellent negatiating skills. John Kerry would be my second choice, because he has a good working relationship with Senator Obama.

I have an official announcement, I will the GOP front runner for the Presidency in 2012. Thats right people, mark your calendars and get your checkbooks ready, we have a lot of campaigning to do. We are gonna take America from the jaws of socialism, and reclaim our spot as the "beacon of hope" that Reagan created. I dont make change, I make money; let me know which one you prefer in your pockets.

As the grandmother of bi-racial grandchildren, I am offended that Obama continues to be touted as the first African-American President. In truth he is the first bi-racial President whose blended DNA consists of Caucasian and African genes. I am completely for each of us living to our potential and beyond regardless of our race, religion or gender, NOT because of it. The fact that Obama was elected should have had nothing to do with the color of his skin, but rather what he brought to the table as a public servant. Whether he is a great President, just a satisfactory one or a complete failure remains to be seen. It should not ride on who his paternal ancestry was. jfleury2751@aol.com

    • Posted By: JackMcG @ 11/06/2008 12:20:15 PM

How about the reality and perhaps you are of the same race..AMERICAN. unless you were born in Africa. Your descendants may be African, but that is just ancestry, you are either an American or an African. I do not go around stating that I am a Irish American and by American I totally mean ancestry, considering my tribe was one forced on the "Trail of tears" I am an American, born and raised here. Why can't you just let go and become an American and stop toting your ancestry as some form of badge?

  • Posted By: Reagan1984 @ 11/06/2008 12:20:12 PM

Funny how the supporters of Obama and the Democractic Party think it is time to come together. But for 8 years they disagreed with everything that the Republicans did. We will continue to be a country divided as long as your candidate wants to take away our Constitutional rights. The Dems control everything (House, Senate, President) so dazzle us. And remember when you point the finger this time, 3 fingers are pointing right back at you.

Comment to: CSTProf. You've just proved a point. Obviously, as a professor, you still have room to learn. You can start by admitting that we black people are as intelligent as you whites and have the same ability to lead. I think you should switch your teaching subject to Black History & learn something about us. We've had a role in politics since day one (even during the slave era).

    Hey shaloj

So explain to me why Oprah endorsed Obama, and so many other blacks endorsed him! BECAUSE HE IS BLACK! What part of racism do you not understand! Believe me, if Colin Powell ran, I would have voted for him in a second, as with Condoleza Rice. I did not vote for Obama because he is anti white, anti American and Anti Semetic! I just hope the next Democratic president picks David Duke as his running mate or puts him on his cabinet and let's see how many black people support him. Also, Obama is nothing more than a motivational speaker.

      • Posted By: snowflakes @ 11/06/2008 12:19:31 PM

Is Obama not partially a white man? Did he not just bury his white grandmother who he adored? Let's support him for the caring, intelligent, loving man that he is. Let's STOP spreading hate and come together as a nation.
