    Thanks heavens for caller ID

I am annoyed and offended by them as the past 5 have been for John McCain. What an insult to my intelligence.

I live in AZ and am starting to get robocalls from the RNC for John McCain. I've already gladly voted for Obama, so the calls are annoying. I simply called back the 866 number they ramble through like an auctioneer at the end of the call and had my number added to their do not call list.

I was flattered to finally feel like one of the candidates is catering to me, but alas, I voted for the other guy. But, for some people, negative attention is better than none, right? No? No, it's not. Stop the robocalls folks!

"Comment: Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team." Sorry. I find that unbelievable, even though I'll vote for Obama. I doubt there are that many Nobel laureates available for political work for any one party. I'd like to see some cites.

I just find it hard to believe McCain is a party to these smear and fear tactics, given he was the victim of them when Bush/Rove used them on him in 2000. What happened to his pledge of an honorable campaign regardless of anything else. I recall he said something like he would rather lose than do something that would compromise his honor. What happened?

Republicans, all they do is spread dirt, lies, sleaze.

Remember what McCains Rick Davis said: DOES NOT MATTER IF IT IS TRUE AS LONG AS IT WORKS.

What a great platform for president..

I dislike the fact that, whether it's a live person making the political call, or whether it's a political Robo-call, they are permitted to call you EVEN IF you have already listed your phone number in the federal do-not-call registry. Yes, I DO want to keep up with both candidates' campaigns, but only via such things as news reports and the candidates' paid media ads. However, I HATE to have my evening interrupted by the ring of the telephone (unless the caller is someone that I know personally). NO political phone call (regardless of who the candidate is or what point is intended to be conveyed to me by the political call), is EVER going to boost my enthusiasm for the candidate whose campaign is CALLING me. If anything, it tends to have the opposite effect. Life is hectic nowadays. I want some peace & tranquility during my evenings; I did NOT subscribe to phone service to have my evenings interrupted by political phone calls.

Who's First Amendment rights? Their's to force this garbage through our telephone lines, or mine to NOT HEAR the message. It works both ways.

Robo calls are simply the death rattle of the McCain/Palin campaign ...

I don't live in a battleground state and glad of it - however, I would not listen to a robo call. They are a form of harrassment as far as I am concerned. Anyone calling (robo, otherwise) and does not acknowledge who or what they want is irritating and pushy. We get calls from so-called credit card companies - no name, no account information and just start their talk - they, like a robo call would get my - HANG UP immediately.

Robo calls work if your a mental case.

  • Posted By: Charlie Self @ 10/31/2008 12:29:05 PM

McCain seems to have persistently bitten himself in the butt during this campaign, probably the worst nip being Palin, but these robocalls seems likely to be almost as painful as they backfire.

Anti-Obama robo call received today on emergency phone in elevator No. 1 in Denver Post. Now that's targeting your audience.

How can these calls be cost effective if they don't work? It isn't the voters who are idiots; it is the campaign managers who buy this garbage.

How can these calls be cost effective if they don't change voting behavior?

It's not the voters who are idiots, but the campaign managers who pay for this garbage.

I never listen to a robo call. As soon as I hear the "robo voice", I hang up. If you want me to listen, pay a living and breathing person to make the call. However, I will most likely not listen to them either, but you'd have a better chance than with a robo call.

It doesn't matter if it's hitting the Americans who want to hear that garbage. They arent going to be swayed. Give people some credit for being bright enough to see the truth from the lies. We know the difference.

  • Posted By: okie3 @ 10/31/2008 12:15:08 PM

I don't know if robo calls work or not. I don't answer the phone anymore.

  • Posted By: Lucy Phoenix @ 10/31/2008 12:15:08 PM

I hate all Robo calls to my business. I am holding for important information, have to hang up to answer incoming call - and it's GARBAGE. There should be a harassment law. I never respond unless it's to tell them to take me off their list. Now they are starting the "remove" option but you have to wait till all the garbage is spewed before getting to it.
