How to bring down a democracy: the steps toward totalitarian rule, in the order followed by Hitler and the Nazi Party; SEE IF THEY SOUND FAMILIAR.

    1. Improvise an attack (or take advantage of an attack) on the country
    2. Declare the country under attack by an enemy; real or improvised
    3. Force legislation that limits civil liberties and gathers broad powers unto government
    4. Brand dissenters and peacemakers as unpatriotic and browbeat them into submission
    5. Keep the fear factor high to make the public easier to manage
    6. Institute massive propaganda campaigns using state-controlled no-longer-free media and fear of government retribution
    7. Law enforcement and government personnel and ordinary citizens are used to spy on, control and break dissent.
    8. Institute the equivalent of a national homeland security department, overseen by one person with unlimited powers
    9. Confiscate all firearms from the citizenry
    10. Institute the mass murder and imprisonment of any who resist the new ideology.
    11. Launch pre-emptive strikes into other countries in an attempt to spread the new ideology

Sound familiar? It should, its not only the direct path of Hitlers rise to power, but also parallels the events starting with and following 9/11. President Bush was very familiar with the game plan, as his Grandfather and his Grandfathers father-in-law were supporters of Hitler and Nazism, both before and after the war. (See George Herbert Walker and Prescott Bush and the Union Banking Corporation)

Of course, the Bush Administration has skipped a couple of the items on the list, but theyll get to them if their party is allowed to remain in power; it will be the only way for them to retain control over the citizenry.

THE BEST REASON TO VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA THIS ELECTION YEAR

    • Posted By: Nowforsomemoretruth @ 11/01/2008 1:11:39 PM

Now that we know Obama has PLO buddies, no thanks to the LA Times, looks like maybe Jesse Jackson knows a good bit more about Obama's politics than the national media does, or JewsForObama for that matter.
      "Press Releases
AJC Strongly Condemns Rev. Jesse Jacksons Comment on American Jews
October 14, 2008 - New York - The American Jewish Committee (AJC) has condemned the Rev. Jesse Jackson's statement about "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades."
"Rev. Jackson's remarks, which appeared in an interview with the journalist Amir Taheri in today's New York Post, echo classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jewish power," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. "This statement, regrettably, is not the first troubling comment by Rev. Jackson regarding Israel, Zionism and the Jewish people.
Arguing as a private citizen that an Obama administration could bring significant change to U.S. foreign policy, Jackson was quoted as saying that "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" would lose much of their influence should Senator Obama be elected president."
      http://www.ajc.org/site/apps/nlnet/content2.aspx?c=ijITI2PHKoG&b=849241&ct=6107743
Sounds a good bit more like Hitler to me. Isn't this the same Democrat leader who once called New York "Hymietown" ?

A key reason for this political shift has to do with employee pocketbook economics.
As the current administration gave business everything they want, they got piggish. They flooded the labor input with visa abuse and illegal workers as well as moving factories overseas for cheaper labor. Business has created an atmosphere where even when profits and productivity were soaring, if you asked for a raise they would give you a look like you were crazy. Now business is saying that your pay increase is the extra cost for health insurance. However, employees have seen no benefit from this and are actually paying more out of pocket for health coverage and receiving less benefits. There were similar times in the late 1980s when heath cost went up, but wages also went up. Globalization and cross boarder movement of labor have given business the tools to keep employees from getting uppity and increasing their wages. There is a power imbalance that has allowed employers to squeeze their employees. This is also the chief reason why the current political administration will be thrown out of office. The 99% of the voters who are employees are starting to realize that they have gotten the shaft.

The funniest part of all of this to me is that Palin will return to Alaska with her tail between her legs. She might try for a run in 2012, but Guiliani and Romney and whomever else vies for the Republican nomination will absolutely tear her apart. I can???t wait to see it.

I'm not a Wal-Mart woman. I am my own woman, a thinking woman, a woman who has suffered through the ridiculousness of 8 years of George Bush and his cronies. The last thing on my mind would be to put someone with John McCain's poor judgment and poor temperament in the White House. His selection of Sarah Palin was insulting to any woman with a brain. Barack Obama and Joe Biden are the logical choice for this non Wal-Mart woman.

Fools names and fools faces are often seen in public places. The two posted comments I read, one from the lunatic fringe left, the other rabid right, were obviously written by fools. Dubya Bush is not Hitler and John McCain is not his hapless stooge. By the same token, Barack Obama is neither a socialists nor did he "chose to camaign dirty" as the writer asserts. Both candidates are flawed but it is senseless to expect political candidates to be saints instead of normal people. The presidential heroes of the past all had dirt under their fingernails, but managed to achieve success for the country while in office. Regardless of who is elected, our country has major obstacles to surmount if we are to continue to be successful and prosper. It is time for all of us to stop the polarizing and divisiveness and start working for a better tomorrow. To do otherwise is to risk exacerbating an already serious risk of losing our collective way as the preeminent democracy and beacon of freedom in a desperately troubled world.

I happen to fall into the "middle-class" that Obama is targeting in his campaign. I must admit that all of his promises sound good - they are what I want and most of America wants to hear. However, I think everyone is so driven by their emotions that they cannot see through the smoke & realize that these are EMPTY promises. Right out of the gate, Obama lost my (Republican) support, because he chose to camaign dirty. By that I mean his change of mind regarding his campaign financing. He went back on the VERY FIRST PROMISE he made to the American public. If he is going to lie about that - what else is he going to lie about??? Of course he's doing better in the polls - he is using illegal funds to inundate the air waves with messages that largely outnumber McCain's. Wake up people! Don't you realize you are mortgaging your future for someone who "wants" to help out those who are less fortunate - but ironically only wants to do it with someone else's taxpayer dollars? How much of his personal funds does he donate for charitable causes? Perhaps he should have also used some of his $600 million in campaign dollars to fund charitable causes? To me it would have been much more appealing to see him put his money where his mouth is - to see him doing good is worth WAY MORE to me than all his empty promise campaigning. This is only the tip of the iceberg - but to me it is the most important. It speaks to Obama's real personality and character! Watch-out all, a Democratic Super-Majority = Change we can be AFRAID OF!!!!!

Excellent analysis. Once again, the Repubs don't get it. If they lose, they only need to look in the mirror. Blaming the press ain't gonna get it. Quite ironic coming from the party of "Personal Responsibility", don't you think?

  • Posted By: lw41042 @ 11/01/2008 9:32:20 AM

I understand McCain's problems better now; I am female, I make less than $60,000 a year. I do not have a college degree. Sarah Palin's inclusion on this ticket insults me and I find this whole "Joe the plumber" thing to be utterly pathetic and ridiculous. I would not vote for McCain/Palin if they were the only ones running. So if McCain is pinning his hopes on me he's going to be sorely disappointed on Tuesday.

So...if I'm who McCain is pinning his hopes on, he's going to be sorely disappointed on Tuesday.

I totally agree. I am a widowed mother of two in College. My late husband and I paid (I still do) taxes that support many public programs but now when my children need financial aid the most...the government says I make too much with the social security my last child got last year (it didn't matter that it was done at age 18). I don't want a hand out, but why should my children be penalized because I work. Had I quit my job when he died to care be a "stay at home" mom, we could have gotten public aid, insurance and a free education. Let's be fair. Now I have to pay all the CEO of the big banks for thier bonus'. We need a change and I don't think the republcan are it.

Excellent analysis by the reporter and Sam Popkins. The fact is that if you look at the GOP rallies it's overwhemingly white and old. The GOP cannot continue to be a major political player in 20 or 30 years time if it doesn't start to reflect more of America. If the GOP clings to the old ways and the old tactics, they will be resposible for making themselves politically irrelevant.

.......................................The McCain Campaign is looking desperate and sad now with all of the deception and lies they are using in hopes of catching up. The American People have seen the Bush Blunders for the last 8 years and they do not want to see McCain come in with a Third Bush Type Term because America knows McCain will be very close to the incompetent Bush in policy.....McCain is too old at 72 1/2 and we need a calm solid leader to turn our economy around and give us prosperity!!!!

Greg here? ....."McCain is too old at 72 1/2 and we need a calm solid leader to turn our economy around and give us prosperity!!!!"
The very real fear I have with McCain (besides no clue about working class folks) being too old to begin or finish a term. That leaves Palin who scares me to death as she is even more out of control , more rabid and more of a loose canon than McCain. I don't want someone elected because of their beauty queen status. I want and need: calm, cool, collected, thoughtful of what he's saying before ignorant outburst. I want someone who surrounds himself with experts on everything and who takes their recommendations seriously and not going ballistic on his own. That's Obama, thus my vote for him

  • Posted By: atc333 @ 11/01/2008 9:28:02 AM

Have any of the quoted Republicans stepped back, and taken a long serious, hard look at the McCain Message, along with the qualifications and views of their Vice Presidential Candidate? McCain has done nothing to make his campaign present a different message than the one it has, which is vote for me, I will continue with the Bush revoloution in government. Change the message, change the platform, don't shoot the messenger! Face it, America is no longer buying the Right Wing message, as the falacies therein have become blatently obvious to all those who are not in the top 10% rewarded by trickel up tax polices.

I am not a Walmart woman, but rather a walmart guy since I work there. I choose to work a Walmart (as a retiree) because of the the benefits (health care and other insurance options) not because I thought I would get paid a huge salary. We now have a candidate, John McCain who wants to tax these benefits. What a joke! When all is said and done I, "Joe the Walmart employee" will vote for Barack Obama because he is the best opportunity for people like me to get ahead. I resent the implications of the McCain Tax plan that benefits the wealthier people because "these are the people who invest in America." This type of thinking allows the rich to get richer and the middle class will forever remain the middle class. Why shouldn't it be possible for people like me to invest rather than live pay check to pay check. Barack Obama represents the best opportunity for the majority of Americans!

This comment was worth reposting its not mine but you should read it

"Nowforthetruth" recently made this posting: "Nins, all you prove is that you have perpetual PMS and cannot read. If you are as careless in your practice, you are a danger to your profession."

You reveal too much of yourself "Nowforthetruth".

"Nowforthetruth" also continues to keep repasting postings that suggest that the root cause of our problem is a law decades old that encourages loans to qualified low income people. "Nowforthetruth" is part of the spin/propaganda machine, and continues to repeat well known deceit.

Alan Greenspan stated recently that the problem was not anything like that. Rather, he stated that an entire financial system was built outside of regulation, and 'we trusted' these self-interested looters to regulate themselves. Credit Default Swaps were the result.

Credit Default Swaps increased from $106 trillion in '02 to $531 trillion under the R stewardship. No regulation.

While there are several variations of a viral email that tries to blame a few thousands of political donations to some Democrats, the actual, legitimate news has reported that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions to Republican lobbyists to lobby Republicans to PREVENT REGULATION.

McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, received up to $35K/mo. from Fannie and Freddie from 2000 to present, to lobby Rs,only, against regulation. Freddie has paid Rick Davis while he has been McC's campaing manager. Freddie donated $250k to the R convention.

These facts are everywhere in the legitimate news. You can start at http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/us/politics/22mccain.html and http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732/page/1 There's much more legitimate news on this.

Trillions were looted from our economy because the Rs allowed it. It is inescapable that the Rs, most prominently McC's campaign manager, were in the pockets of big money while they drove the buss off the cliff with us in it.

You can try to distract people with fears about 'those guys'. Lies, distortion, deception. 'Socialist' is only the last in a long, now desperate, list of labels you have tried to pin on 'that one'. That's all you have left.

Is your most recent reposting here directed to fears about "Socialism", or is it just innuendo, or are we trying to fold in a little racism too?

I've got an idea, since we have no more ideas, let's keep running our campaign on fear, smears and hypocrisy.

Keep talking "Nowforthetruth", you're really helping. You keep demonstrating that we all have to vote against lies and propaganda and attempts to hijack our political process with deceit. Your actions are the kinds of reasons that I'm voting for Obama after 40 years of never having voted for a Dem.

    A 40 year republican

    FUN QUOTES FROM PALIN
I got all of these quotes off of google quotes
You really couldn't make up this kind of stuff up if you wanted to
This all part of the reason why so many important republicans have been saying she
    is a joke

When asked about her foreign policy experience she said
"As Putin rears his head," she said, referring to Russian prime Minister Vladimir Putin, "and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border."
TELLING THE TRUTH FOR A CHANGE SHE HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT HER RUN FOR VP
"It's time that normal Joe Six-Pack American is finally represented in the position of vice-presidency"
WHEN ASKED TO NAME ONE SUPREME COURT DECISION AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SHE CAME UP WITH THIS ANSWER
"I'm in that sense a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas"
when asked again to name one decision she responded
"Well, let's see. There's -- of course -- in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings"
When asked about being a redneck she said
"Someone called me a `redneck woman' once. You know what I said back? `Thank-you very much.'"
when asked what promises she might not be able to keep
"How long have I been at this, like five weeks? So there hasn't been a whole lot that I've promised, except to do what is right..."

Talking to dobson about prayer she said
"It is that intercession that is so needed and so greatly appreciated," Palin told Dobson. "And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation."

When asked about being a environmentalist she originally said
"I'm not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist blaming the changes in our climate on human activity."
when asked again later if she thought people had a impact on global warming
"Show me where I have ever said that there's absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change,"
    asked about voting she said
"I truly believe that the wisdom of the people will be rebuilt on [Election Day]. As they enter that voting booth, they will understand the stark contrast between the two tickets,"
when asked how mccain did at his first debate
"I just thought he was great, because the American people are angry, and John McCain is angry, too
when asked about tina feys imitation of her she said
"I watched it with the volume all the way down," Palin said. "I thought it was hilarious."

IS SHE KIDDING IS THIS WHOLE THING A JOKE
IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE SOMEONE COULD BE THIS CLUELESS
SOMEONE THAT THINKS THEY COULD RUN THE COUTRY NOW LESS
VOTE OBAMA BIDEN NOW AND SEND HER BACK TO ALASKA

Sensiblejoe should change his name to "joe the moron". Did he forget that the Democrats are in control!! Talk about bloated government and out of control spending. The only hope is that we get a Republican President that can throw a veto in there now and then to slow up the Democrats, until sensible voters regain control by voting conservative Republicans back into Congress.

Gradually, it seems to dawn on people that this vote is not about gender or race but about generations. That is why there will be less of a Bradley effect. That was 26 years ago, this is NOW. A whole generation is dead (except for McCain) , another generation now votes. Nowadays it is no big deal to confess you are voting for a black or a white person.

"How can the GOP save itself?" you ask, Ms. Clift? By actually becoming what it claims to be: a party dedicated to smaller government, fiscal leanness and individual liberties. Instead, over the past eight years, it's been a party of bloated government, out-of-control spending and violation of constitutional constraints and civil rights, focused on placating the wealthiest of the wealthy and big business on the upper echelons while relying on populist rhetoric and religious lip service to draw a grassroots base from the lower echelons. If "Wal-Mart Women" aren't falling in line with the Republicans, it's because they've done their math and realize they can't afford to pay more taxes when McCain starts taxing health insurance benefits, with a measly "tax credit" that won't cover even half of what those benefits actually cost. (Add what you and your employer pay towards coverage on your paycheck stub to figure out how much more McCain will tax you above your gross income, folks.) The reason people shop at Wal-Mart in the first place is because they don't have a lot of money, so that crowd is likely to be more aware of economics that McCain and company might have presumed. Playing the blue collar card doesn't always work, especially when it's being played by someone who can't remember how many houses he owns and thinks "rich" starts at five million dollars a year. Thinking average Joes like us can't relate to that sort of thinking or lifestyle.
