I really believe you are extremely partial to Barack Obama.not e...McCains blunders come first while Baracks are played down. Why isn't someone looking at where Barack Obama is getting his money from ..it is not the average American ..we don't have any. Also if we did we would make sure it was with our name on it. Obama has millions of dollare of untraceble money coming into his funds ..wake up who is really behind Barack. Any country can push a canidate on us if they have enough money. I believe they are.

    • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/01/2008 8:28:54 PM

You are wrong. The average person can afford the little donations that Barack is asking for. I know. I have been one of those. If you can't afford donations, then you really should be looking at Barack as your candidate. He is the man for the common man. All of you who think the Republican party is for you, are so mistaken. The Republican does nothing but help the rich and give the money away to foreign governments. Did you know that our government under George Bush was sending money to the sons of Sudan Hussain? Doesn't that just make you angry? It did me. As a retired teacher, I would really rather see our money be spent on our children's education and health care. George Bush has done nothing for either. Neither will McCain. If you are an American making under $200,000 a year, the Democratic party is the one that you should be looking toward. Those are the people that Obama is attempting to help. Furthermore, if we had been under Democratic leadership our children would never have been in Iraq fighting a senseless war.

Obama will ruin this country along with the do nothing Democraps. What have the democraps done in all the time they have had control? No a damn thing.

        • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/02/2008 1:41:21 AM

The Democrats have only had control of the two houses for two years. One of the main bills that they passed was for health care for children, a much needed bill. George Bush vetoed the bill. If the Democrats thought it was a good bill, Bush vetoed it. How much can you get done when you have someone as President who is so lame.

    • Posted By: vlamb @ 11/01/2008 10:31:25 PM

Well I am an average American, and I have donated to his campaign.

      • Posted By: Lille @ 11/01/2008 11:23:44 PM

I hope you signed your name when you contributed.. So much of his money is untraceable ...doesn't that bother you even a little...

    • Posted By: Romero @ 11/01/2008 8:18:55 PM

I am a middle class retired federal employee, who for the first time in his life has contributed money to any political campaign. In the pass the republicans have out spent the democratic with big corporate financing and you have most likely said nothing. I knew that a qualified black candidate, no matter how well qualified would have to have lots of money to proof how well qualify he is. There have been many first time donors to the Obama campaign that has come from the middle class, so please do not write out right lies. I have given enough to the Obama campaign to show up on the reports he files. DO SOME INVESTIGAGITION BEFORE YOU WRITE UNTRUTHS.

Amen Lille, I call Obama Media Elect Presidential Candidate Obamanation. He has basically tolen this election. First of all, he signed a paper stating he would NOT take soft money. He LIED and took soft money. And you are correct it is untraceable money. Obamanation had the Liberal Media to NOT asking him a darn question while attacking McCain and Palin. God help us if we can't see thru Obamanation.

Aren't you sure you voted for him OR are you having remorse?

Let's talk about Obama's plan to 'reverse Bush's tax cuts...do you know what this means?? For the lower earners, it means an 84% increase!! Obama has lied repeatedly saying he won't raise your taxes - he'll raise everyone's. Bush has kept more money in our pockets than any other Pres in 40 yrs. Calculate the savings when your mortgage rate went from 81/2% to 5% and the savings from his tax cuts X 8 yrs. Duh! He didn't get us into a war - we 're bombed stupid.

    • Posted By: jp2123 @ 11/01/2008 8:53:44 PM

Well just to add something. Remember that the President "George Bush" did NOT declare the war, becuase he DOES NOT have the power to do so. The CONGRESS does.

      • Posted By: solorsq @ 11/01/2008 9:37:37 PM

        Republican Congress!

        • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/02/2008 1:39:12 AM

Thank you. Yes, it was a Republican congress lead by George W that got us into the war. Also remeber that Barack Obama was the only senator to vote against the war. If he did nothing else that made sense to anyone, his voting against going into Iraq should. All you military parents out there with children in Iraq, like my family is, think about voting for Barack Obama. He will get our troops out of Iraq with honor. It is time for our children to come home. VOTE BARACK OBAMA TUESDAY, NOV. 4

  • Posted By: chuck409 @ 11/02/2008 1:30:36 AM

It seems to me that we are in the worst economic and governmental corrupt times that we may have ever witnessed. You people that vote based on party lines are absolutely idiotic!! Especially since the last 8 years have been the worst decline since the 30's. If you open your eyes and look around you, voting for McCain is like re-electing Bush!! Get a clue.

    • Posted By: calipauthy @ 11/02/2008 1:38:16 AM

Chuck, you sound like you want to blame both parties, then you quote one of them... nice... it the last 8 years were so bad, why was unemployment low, why did the economy grow, even with 9/11, iraq, and Katrina? how bad was it? the tax rates were lower and that put more money in your pocket. and you wine that it was the worst eight years ever. you bleed that you have swallowed the media portrail of the bush admin hook line and sinker... go watch one of your tv's, play on your computer... you have it so bad...

    • Posted By: Lille @ 11/01/2008 11:41:37 PM

Do you really believe that Oprah and stars raised these staggering amounts of money? I hope your right...but if your wrong and the monies are coming from other countries as I believe they are .... aren't we risking our country?.. What I am questioning is untraceable donations . I assume your donation is traceable as a proud American I would sign my name as most of us do. Why is so much of his money not traceable.?

      • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/02/2008 1:37:22 AM

We already belong to China. We are so in debt to China after the Bush adminstration that we probably will never pay our way out. Read, listen, research. You will see that voting Republican is getting us no where.

Obama: Best described by a quote by John Foster "A man without decision of character can never be said to belong to himself. He belongs to whatever can make captive of him"
McCain: Best described by a quote from John Trotsky "The depth and strength of a human character are defined by its moral reserves. People reveal themselves completely only when they are thrown out of the customary conditions of their life, for only then do they have to fall back on their reserves."

    • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/02/2008 1:35:54 AM

Then why has the "honorable" John McCain resported to lies and to having Palin out there spouting one lie after another. There is no honor in that. Do you not realize why there are so many Republicans voting for Obama. I am one of those. After the first four years of Bush, I knew we that enough was enough, but he managed to steal the White House again. If McCain is elected, we are sunk. He has no ideas of his own. His ideas are either those of George Bush or those he has picked up from Obama. Maverick--please. He is nothing but a sellout.

  • Posted By: nureetco1 @ 11/02/2008 1:35:22 AM

You are so one sided. Just tell the truth - Obama deosen't know what he is talking about. He is not telling us where he is planning to get all the money for his megalomenians projects. He is not clear on taxes for those making 250k, 200k 150k, the numbers are down everytime there is an uproar. He did not tell anyone about the illigal aunt, is he going to disowne her too? He says he will get the trups back from Iraq, but he is not telling that he is going to send them to Afganistan. When is he going to learn to tell the simple truth. He sounds to me like the "Manchurian Candidte". He is well packaged by 7th avenue public relations firms but the inside of the package holds many ugly surprises

  • Posted By: Lille @ 11/01/2008 7:48:02 PM

Does anyone else wonder who really is pushing Obama? So much of his donations are untraceable.. In the form of credit cards purchased at walmart etc..I know if I was giving money to a canidate I would certainly put my name on it. Why would anyone not ..maybe someone should seriously look at who is really pushing Obama on us.another country perhaps? Just think about it. His money tops four or five other canidates together...Who has that much money ..maybe oil countries...think about it.

    • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/01/2008 8:19:53 PM

I dont' wonder because I know that millions of people just like me have donated money. I have never donated before, but I have found his campaign to be sound and his way of raising money in incredible. Think about. He didn't take public funds. Isn't that a good thing? People like me who want a change have been willing to give a little all along and it has really added up.

      • Posted By: Lille @ 11/01/2008 11:30:52 PM

I think it is great that anyone would donate to someone they believe in ...but most Americans proudly sign their names on donations ...I only question untraceable donations and especially when the amounts are staggering amounts..

        • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/02/2008 1:35:02 AM

If they are untraceable, how do you know they are staggering amounts? That doesn't compute. You are just listening to the right wing conservatives and their lies.

Maybe alot of us regular folk who believe in his message and for the first time ever gave to a campaign. • Posted By: rgpizza2008 @ 11/02/2008 12:21:10 AM

The 1,000 dollar credit everyone is talking about is a making work pay credit. If you dont work you cant get it because its for people that work hence making work pay. The other big thing he's doing is helping people who cant afford to go to college with the oppurtunity credit which is avaliable to anyone of any income in exchange for 100 hours community service hours. If you donate 100 hours of time you will recieve 4,000 dollars for school. again you have to trade 100 hours community service so you have to earn the 4,000 dollars.

If anyone is socialist its the republicans, they want to tell you who you can marry and wether or not you have to have a baby. Their is a reason why 5% of america concentrates all the wealth and what the 5% pay in taxes is more money then all the rest of us pay together and the republicans want to keep the middle class stupid and working to make more money for the rich. The only people who don't understand that are people who think they will one day be in that top 5% percent too... But they wont because its not about working hard even through they want you to think it is.... Itt's about being lucky, its far more about being born into the right family or knowing the right people then it is working hard. Of course these people are more educated, they can go right to school after college and focus on learning, they dont have to worry about working through school, or loans or bills. They can focus on their studies just from being born lucky not from working hard. Do you think John McCains kids or Palins kids are going to have to work their way through school? And Palins daughter doesn't have to think about having a abortion because the family has enough money. I gaurentee you her pregnant daughter is not going to work and raise the baby at the same time. Palins family wont know what thats like and thats why she doesnt care about the middle class however what she will do is put all these special needs programs in all the schools just because she has a special needsdoen syndrom kid. and they want to keep the rest of our chances limited and they want to keep us uneducated. Their are plenty of people who work hard but because they were not born lucky they wont have the same oppurtunity for college as other people, if they go to college they will have to work full time and not be able to study correctly or have to go to school part time and it will take them twice as long. All Obama is doing is giving people who want to work hard a little help because they werent born lucky. The rich will still be rich but someone who wouldnt of been able to go to college because they were born unlucky will have a chance to and thats the difference that obamas going to make.

    • Posted By: leanne21 @ 11/02/2008 1:35:01 AM

the education credit is actually 5,000 dollars not 4,000 and it is what we all know of as the pale grant now that is currently at 4200 dollars a year. and currently you are not required to work for it. obama wants people to work for this "education credit" yet he wants to simplify the application for it by making it where you can check a box on your tax return saying you want to apply as opposed to the several page application you have to fill out now. this is fact i read on his official website. go to it and read his proposed education bills section, now in saying this. Im not totally against people having to give something back for help they receive but i am a single mother who has been in college for two years and in order to work whether it be community service or regular job i have to pay daycare and thats pretty expensive. there is no possible way i could have went to school full time, worked full time, raised two kids and still had time left to do community service. so this really does not sound like much help to me. especially when this education credit already exists and its only 800 dollars less than this "new idea" obama has come up with. secondly i dont understand the need to make the application process easier. I had no problem filling out a few pages to get 4300 dollars a year towards my education. if someone is too illiterate to fill out a application then they probably are not going to make it in college which in turn will be a waste of tax payers money. so in my opinion things should be left alone. true i got a 4300 dollar hand out from taxpayers (myself included) but when i graduate i will be making money working and paying in taxes and im sure it will only take a couple years to pay back more than what i recieved. Basically obama has taken a ages old pale grant added 800 dollars and community service to it and is passing it off as some new great idea. basically he's blowing smoke up peoples you know whats promising something they already have. sound like good change to you? not to me! I guarantee this is not the only bull he is preaching either

    • Posted By: calipauthy @ 11/02/2008 12:34:49 AM

so community service is worth 4000 for 100 hours, at that rate, iaylots of people will give up there job for community service that pays $40 an hour... Now that's good government, paying someone $40 an hour... heck, the unions will want a piece of that action as well and all community workers will have to join the union so the union gets there share... you know to protect the community workers, who work for the government who need protection so there not fired for not working on the job..... come on people, get some common sense...

      • Posted By: rgpizza2008 @ 11/02/2008 12:58:32 AM

How stupid are you? Or should we call you McCain trying to twist peoples words around. Nobody is giving up their job for 4,000 dollars. its extra money to help young people go to college. I dont think their is any middle class 21 year old who wouldn't want a extra 4,000 dollars a year to help with college expenses. 4,000 can pay a college students rent for 8 months. Its a big help. Maybe your just a lazy brat who wants everything given to you for free. What your really upset about is that your asked to givee 100 community service hours in exchange. Thats only two hours a week. Loans for students are 5,000 a semester. Why wouldnt someone want to exchange 2 hours a week of community service instead of a loan they have to pay back? Some people have to work through school were not all lazy brats like you

        • Posted By: calipauthy @ 11/02/2008 1:16:09 AM

it took me 7 years to earn my degree thank you.. I worked full time while going to school, paying for it as i went, no loans, and no parents to help. So please, don't talk to me about being lazy you assuming joke of a democrat

    • Posted By: macauley10 @ 11/02/2008 12:34:06 AM

Wow now the Republicans are telling people who they can marry?? Now I have heard it all....where do you get your info? OK so if we take all the guys that want to get married to each other and put them on an island and go back and check on them 75 years later how many people will be left on the island? I remember the democrats dancing around the questions about this on the debates aswell. Its surely a moral issue but not as bad as killing babies after they are aborted and still alive when they come out.

Sarah Palin has more experience in one pinky finger than obama has in his entire body. look at the facts please. palin was a mayor for atleast 3 yrs and a governor of a state for a term. Obama was a community activist (organizer ) for a ghetto and served less than 6 months in the senate before running for President. In college Obama hung out with radicals ( what in the 1960 s were called hippies ) now called secular progressives or socialists. He even hung out with islamic fundamentalists.

Palin was raising a family and doing normal family like activities like going to college for an education to support her self , not over throw the current establishment. my vote goes to normal people like the rest of america , not left wing kook fringe agitators.

You know, the last year of my Dad's life, after my mom died, we were trying desperately to keep him in his own home, where he felt safe and comfortable. One of his caregivers was a kind, gentle Muslim woman. I saw her every day, we conferred by phone [I at work and she at my Dad's house] on what he had had for lunch, whether he had taken his medicine, etc. I doubt she was a radical, but she could have been for all I know, because we never discussed anything but my dad and sometimes her children. What of it? Do you think that people in academic communities don't have friends of many different religions and ideologies. When the heck did we begin not tolerating ideas that are not our own. You know, you can rail about communism and socialism, but start restricting ideas, and this country is in big trouble.

Gee, being President of the Harvard Law Review doesn't count for much, being a professor of constitutional law should count for something. Obama is a brillant man who can hold his own in all situations. Ms. Sara can't even tell the reporter what newspaper or magazine she reads. Give me a break, this woman should never have been on the ticket. *** and ass do not a president make--vice president either.

Not only do you have the facts on Obama wrong, you apparently do not realize Palin is not running for president, McCain is. Are you that much in denial that you don't even know who you're voting for?

  • Posted By: diogenes 2008 @ 11/01/2008 8:49:12 PM

lets see, Obama wants to overtax the productive capacity of the US in a down economy (Hoover did that and created the Great depression from a small downturn). Obama then wants to give these taxes back as welfare-like refundable tax credits tied to what???. McCain wants to take away the deduction for health insurance premiums and give it back as a credit for use in paying insurance premiums, that is a like-for-like trade, not the Obama welfare plan. If fact-check.org were truly unbiased, they would truly explain the issue. This just PROVES THAT FACTCHECK IS AN OBAMA SUPPORTER AND MORE RIGHTLY CALLED FACTTWIST.ORG. Yoou can put a name on an organization, but you cankt change the real facts.

Here we go again. More of the drival that has been spouted by McCain and Palin. Do you ever read or do you just listen to right wing conservative radio. This sounds just like what they have to say. Do your research; stop listening to lies. That is what is wrong with this country--too many people who do not listen, do not read, do not understand that the Republican party will do anything to win. Why should lying not be acceptable to the Republicans--they have stolen the White House in the last two elections.

I know for everyone with a bachelor of arts in journalism that evenhandedness is precious, but having one Republican deed, misdeed or talking head for every Democratic deed, misdeed or talking head is not journalism but an infantile insistence upon being "fair" as a 3 or 4 year old would understand it. The fact is that Republicans, and McCain and Palin, have played by far the dirtier campaign, full of sleaze and slime. Not suprising as Palin is a corrupt Alaska politician busily stabbing McCain in the back like Brutus did Caesar, though McCain, like Caesar, married for position and power and MONEY and betrayed his first wife repeatedly with adultery. Guess character doesn't stop with military experiences, but includes adultery, the Keating 5, and fighting with all the grace, wit and decency of the pudgy chicken hawk Rove.

  • Posted By: EdieV @ 11/01/2008 7:57:15 PM

I am glad that you have taken the time to explain all of this to the public. I suppose that most people who have believed what the McCain campaign have said about Barack have not really listened to what he has had to say. The lies that the McCain campaign have continued to spout off certainly do not make someone like me who has been a Republican for years want to vote for McCain and Palin. As a matter of fact, I have cast my vote for Obama and am proud to have done so. As a sixty-five year old while female, I believe that Obama and his youth have far more to offer this country than McCain and Palin. Another problem with voting for McCain and Palin is that all they intend to do is make the rich richer just like their counterparts Bush and Chaney. Let's vote for a change. Vote Democratic on Tuesday.

And yes I have the right to be upset if my freedom is voted away. I know McCain/Palin wouldn't do that. I know NOTHING about obama.

I do not have a child in Iraq, but I do have a nephew who has had to go to Iraq too many times. He has two children and a wife at home. He is put in harms way everything he goes there. If Barack Obama had had his way, we would never have been in Iraq. The U.S. has never invaded a country that did not attack them first until George W got it into his head that we had to go to Iraq. The rest of the world knew this was a mistake. That is why they refused to go. The night that I heard that we were going into war, I cried. As a teacher of high school children, I knew many had signed up to go into the military because they had been promised an education for doing so. Now they have lost their limbs, their lives and their very souls in a desolate desert in Iraq. Those who make the determination to send others children into war should have to send their own first. I don't see George Bush's or Chaney's children there. No I do not believe in war. Yes, I do believe in a strong military. Yes, I do support Barack Obama. He speaks with more sense than anyone I have heard in decades. Remember, I am sixty-five. I have seen it all. I lived through the deaths of John F. Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King. Unfortunately, we have not come far enough in this country to realize that a man who stands up for something he believes in is far better than one who flip-flops around and creates lives and hatred in an attempt to get elected. MY ADVICE: VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA ON TUESDAY.

    too bigkal. . .

Your claim to being a small business owner and stating that because of Obama's tax plan you would be forced to lay your employees off only shows your greed. The only INCOME you would be paying taxes on is your PROFIT. . . So go ahead, lay off the people who are making you PROFIT so you can have a few extra dollars in your pocket.

Oh but wait. . . That would mean you wouldn't make a profit and would probably be forced to file bankrupcy. The only problem is, you can't do that anymore either. If your running your business right you should be able too write-off just about everything so you prolly don't pay any taxes anyways.

Now as for the article. . . It's obvious neither McCain or Obama are saints. However, there is a "lesser of two evils" and Obama is offering more solutions.

Pathetic...Obama has you so convinced that you are entitiled to another man's wealth and the fruit of another man's labor that you're not the least bit ashamed to call that man greedy for wanting to keep what his his. Here's a thorught...be a man...get off your butt and create some opportunity for yourself.

Canadians Pay 16% provincial tax to fund there social health care system. If you want to pay 16% of your income, on top of what you (well some of you) already pay in state tax, you to can have a health care system based on Quota's, just like canada.... I have filled out there T-1 tax form as i am an Tax Preparer, and my Wife is from New Brunswick Canada. Just a fact, you can look it up if you think this is BS. go ahead, look it up... looking it up is easy, so easy even a democrat can do it...

it's "their", not "there" as in, "their social health care system". You, calipauthy, are an idiot. A ridiculous, republican idiot.

I'm wondering how many people have read this and just said to themselves, Why would I vote for either one of these "politics as usual" people? Let's face it, when they want to win they both get dirty and start lying just like every other politician. I have not voted for either of these lying politicians and went with a different candidate. You do realize there are more that two right? If you really want to change Washington then kick out the Democrates and Republicans and put in Contitution, Libritarian or Green party. You have heard of those right? If not then you have not done your homework as you may claim.

Visit www.contrariancommentary.com for some truth about Barack Obama.
This is the lie that will end his run for the white house. Andy Martin, sued in Hawaii state court for his "real birth certificate", which the state has now said, they have! Obama, CNN and factcheck.org all lied! The copy they used is a fake! The true copy shows his father as Frank Marshall Davis, communist party member, activist and married man!
Davis is mentioned in his book, Dreams..he was Obama mentor! The dream is to put a socialist in the white house, without the public aware they are doing so. To bring social justice thru subversion and deciet, all justified, due to the years of oppression of the middle class, which will be corrected thru redistribution of wealth!
This is the real reason he has never produced his birth certificate to satisfy any of the lawsuits brought, he is the bastard son of a card carrying, bonified member of the communist party. This is where his socialist leanings and teachings came from his "real" father.
BEFORE IT IS TO LATE AND YOU VOTE FOR HIM, IS THIS THE CHANGE HE REFERS TO, HE NEVER STATES WHAT THE CHANGE WILL BE..BUT THAT WE NEED CHANGE!!

Save us from this liar and deciver! If not, you will have no one to blame but yourself..
