Study finds Media has Betray Trust of American People
    Newsweek Article:
Study: Media coverage has favored Obama campaign
Study finds comments on evening newscasts over the past two months favored the Obama campaign

"For whatever reason, the media are portraying Barack Obama as a better choice for president than John McCain," said Robert Lichter, a George Mason University professor and head of the center. "If you watch the evening news, you'd think you should vote for Obama."

    http://www.newsweek.com/id/165218

"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."

Add to that The ugly side of Big Brother Socialism from the Obama Campaign: Media Blackmail
    October 31, 2008 12:27 PM ABC Reports:
The Obama campaign has told three reporters they have to drop off the campaign plane this weekend. All three work for papers that endorsed Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.: the New York Post, the Washington Times, and the Dallas Morning News.

Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported .
"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

So what? McCain has done the same thing with reporters who displeased him. And why not? If I were running the kind of crazy schedule these guys are doing now, I wouldn't want someone aboard playing "gotcha" or taking pictures when I was having a nap. Too much stress already.

That's hysterical. The mea culpas to save the media's collecitve a$$es have already started. For their disgraceful bias and dishonesty in their coverage of this campaign you can be sure there will be plenty of "investigative" reporting of all the media attacking each other and Obama. But, no matter who you support, the damage to the electoral process and to the American people has been done and the media will not get off scot free nor should they. Worst offenders MSNBC by virtue by three of the most nasty "pundits" I have ever seen in this order: Olbermann, Matthews, David Shuster. Runners up: Rachel Maddow and David Gregory. The print media, Newsweek of course and its sanctimonius editor and "commentators" and The entire New York Times staff. Not necessarily because of their bias for Obama but because each election cycle they seem to get a new obsession. Remember's Matthews love for Dubya. And for their hypocritical unfounded attacks on the Clintons during the primaries and their dishonest turnaround when the Clintons began to support Obama. Poster children all for the reinstatement of the fairness doctrine, but only if it is used across the board. The left is just as bad as the right in this country, and the voters continue to suffer whether they realize it or not.

Here's a revelation: maybe the media has favored Barack Obama because he's the superior candidate. Lichter is a well-known mouthpiece of conservatism and his CPMA is a sham. His writing is as slanted toward the right as he claims the media is slanted toward the left. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Sorry...when someone starts bringing out a guy named Joe the Plummer and tries to sell him off as the voice of middle America...you lost me. How sad that John McCain cannot run on what he stood for in 2000. He has become the "Mr. Wilson" of 2008. "Get off my lawn"!!!!! I am a Vietnam Vet and so is my husband and it is a shame that he keeps using that as the headstone of his campaign. Stop! You are making it look as though that anyone who has never served as a loser. Times have changed and God knows we need anything besides another 4 years of Bush! Also, as for Sarah Palin, ok you are a pro lifer...good for you! But to believe that anyone who does not believe as you do as a sinner....shame on you. I grew up in at time where no one talked about pro life or pregancy period. Someone I knew in high school was so ashamed she douched with Drano...well you guessed it, not only did the baby die....so did she. We need to keep policies in place the protect babies and the mothers so they have clean, safe healthcare no matter what choice they choose. That is why the Consitution spells out...Separation of Church in State!

    • Posted By: mcdeere72 @ 11/01/2008 3:59:39 PM

I have a challenge for you, show me in the Constitution where it "spells out seperation of church and/in state?" Rather I would suggest that you really take the time to look the document over. The phrase separation of church and state is generally traced to the letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to the Danbury Baptists, in which he referred to the First Amendment to the United States Constitution as creating a "wall of separation" between church and state. The phrase was then quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1948.

So please when refering to this idea realize that it isn't refered to in the Constitution, but by Thomas Jefferson.

      • Posted By: Freemarketo07 @ 11/01/2008 4:18:43 PM

Usairforcewife will not be able to find it in the Constitution because it does not exist. But this is a popular claim of the left. Don't let the facts get in the way of their beliefs.

  • Posted By: Selfemployed @ 11/01/2008 3:12:06 PM

A 62% marginal tax rate under Obama's plan is not necessarily a "whopper." Here's how it works out for a small business owner in West Virginia making $250K or more per year: 39% federal rate if the Bush tax cuts are repealed + social security rate if caps are removed (employer and employee share) of 12.4% + medicare tax rate of 2.9% + state tax rate of 6% (in WV where I am) = 60.3%. That is not 62%, but it might as well be! Also note that this total does not include any local income tax that may be placed on you by your city government. Why, under these circumstances, would any self-employed person vote for Obama when he wants to create a system where you los 60 cents of every additional dollar you make to the state and federal governments? Granted, Obama's website now touts that earners above $250K would be asked to pay only 2-4% more in social security taxes, but I could find no details on what that means. Bottom line: Obama's redistribution of income by taking more taxes out of people who produce more jobs than any other sector of the ecomoy and literally giving that money (i.e., in the form of a rebate) to people who pay no taxes now because they have little or no income smacks of Socialism. Newsweek, your true colors are showing again . . .

    • Posted By: Worth2Cents @ 11/01/2008 4:17:02 PM

It is nice to know there is one busines that WON"T be passing on its envisioned tax increases to its customers or taking it out on its employees. I would imagine that when fuel prices shot up, along with everything else, Selfemployed did not raise the price of his goods and services, nor trimmed his payroll by firing a couple of people.
Here's a tip for both you and Joe the Plumber: You know that $4 billion in tax breaks McCain wanted to give Big Oil, of which $1.2 billion goes to Exxon? If he's elected, tell us how many billions McCain is going to stick in your pocket.

All I ahve to say is do we want an Arabic obama is 87.50% arabic who studied Muslim for 31 years running America, does anybody remember September 11, is it not funny how all the middle eastern countries such as Iran, Afgan, and such are ecited with the fact he may be our president, how about google obama and his brother the one who after he lost his election in kenya burned the homes of men women and children and was supported by Obama. By the way is it not interesting what Obamas middle name is Hussein. Come on people its not about black or white its about someone who is best for this country who believes in America and doen't have radical muslim family and background.

    • Posted By: Owl5 @ 11/01/2008 4:15:10 PM

If you're uncomfortable with Obama growing up in a Muslim country, then why aren't you terrified of Sarah Palin growing up in a fundamentalist Christian church? Or have you forgotten that the Oklahoma City bombings were not carried out by muslim extreamists, but by Christians? By your argument that all members of a religion act the same, you should be abstaining from voting this year due to McCain's Christian ties and your dislike of Obama.

    • Posted By: gogrizzlies @ 11/01/2008 3:25:11 PM

to goblue1968: You must be one of those uneducated red-necks who believes this crap about Obama being Arabic and Muslim, even though it has been repudiated by every major news nework. Your comment reeks of racism. If you do not have something constructive to say, why don't you go back to school, learn something, and then come back and comment.

  • Posted By: LuvBeingAWorkaholic @ 11/01/2008 4:12:55 PM

I have no kids, work 60 hours a week or more, play video games and go shopping- this is what I do most of the time. I work so much yet I voted. I don't have to say who I voted for, thank god. Would not want any one telling me I am stupid because of who I voted for. I do not see any point in that. I am not stupid and neither is either of our candidates. THEY ARE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT. This means they are smarter than most people give them credit for. As for Palin and Biden, OH WELL. Palin is a Gov and Biden is a Sen so they must be somewhat smart people. How about this, for all you ultra smart people out there- What is your job? Are any of you willing to put yourselves in the spot light and put everything you have ever done- good and bad- out for the entire world to see and judge? I think not. Get up. Go vote for whoever you want. Don't feel bad about it even if someone calls you stupid. Remember one thing- WE THE PEOPLE are what makes this country what it is, not one of us or some of us- ALL OF US.

  • Posted By: Snowe @ 11/01/2008 3:25:27 PM

Why do we have to have the bias being displayed by NBC, CBS and the daily papers. I hesitate to call any of them News by any suggestion. MSNBC has distorted McCain to the point of downright idiotcy. Under no circumstances can the arab be said to have enough experience to run anything past a scooter. He has kept his history totally under wraps and retaliates abainst anyone who would dare to question him or his people. He has a VP who was guilty of plagerism and makes more mistakes than my 20 month old daughter. There is an old saying that you are who you associate with. another one is if you lay down with dogs you will get up with fleas. enough said.

    • Posted By: Owl5 @ 11/01/2008 4:10:46 PM

So "the Arab" gets your hatred because his VP "plagerized", but you'll support his opponant even though his VP is guilty of an ethics violation, has only a bachelor's degree in journalism, and won't answer any questions from reporters not screened by the McCain campaign?

If you were too, then you are both American citizens.

If you want to carry on with this, then realise that: JOHN McCAIN WAS BORN IN PANAMA.
      Yes, he really was.
John McCain was born in Panama - look it up.

  • Posted By: swissgirl1 @ 11/01/2008 4:09:41 PM

This statement given by the author of this article sounds more like an opinion then a fact. "In fact, in Obama's exchange with Joe, he was simply talking about making the nation's progressive tax system a bit more progressive by cutting taxes for most while raising them on top earners."
Interesting how it is spun, I had always thought reporters were supposed to report! What a horrible thing the media has done to the American people. It is my opinion, that if the media would do just that, report true facts only, this race might not have been so ugly. Shouldn't your article read "The Facts As We See Them"!

  • Posted By: Crp31r. @ 11/01/2008 4:08:08 PM

Comment: I think voters should focus on what each candidates intentions are. Though this can be difficult from the amounts of deception coming from democratic and republic sides. The facts really are that no one can know the true intientions of the candidates unless the individual knows them by what issues they stand to protect and defend. People should not be clouded by whats going on from both sides, and the people who have not been following both campaigns from the begging are right now being exposed by this cloud and they have no choice but to take these situations at face value. The down side to this is that election day is right around the corner, do these people have time to dig up the truth? No wonder voter turn out is a big issue in elections. Can you blame the American people for this? And another thing, I've been following both campaigns since the beginning. I've seen and heard all the debates. Am I going to favor one candidate over another sure. Am I going to tell what party I am for or against, NO. bottom line is this. research the candidates, do not listen to everything everyone else is saying unless it actually is factual and unbiased. Then ask yourself this: How do you interpret The United States Constitution. Everyone has a different view. Then ask yourself does any one else interpret it this way or am I the only one? The way I see it is that America should be viewed in the same way we view our survival. Not our domination. Besides how can we dominate ourselves? Meaning, America is composed of individuals who are all equal. We do not differ biologically enough to be concidered unequal. One thing I am not in support of right now is the war in Iraq. Our focus should be on reinstating our position for growth instead of further hindering our abilities to by engaging ourselves in activities that divide us.

Don't you think it is about time that MSNBC actually included the "dirt" on Obama instead of continually bashing McCain? McCain wants change from the status quo, he wants America to become strong again. Why is it that the very basis that this country was founded on is trying to have the "Obama's" change it to a Socialist Country? Why is it that the "American Dream" we are all offered in this country has now become something that is penalized if we succeed in the world and make something of ourselves? Why is it that we now have some people that now say "I can't wait for Obama to become President because then I won't have to worry about paying my car payment or my rent....Obama will take care of all of it" Hmmmmmm and why is this???? because Obama wants to spread our wealth into Welfare checks for the people that don't want to work for a living....Shame on our country for allowing anyone like this to even be considered for a Presidential Nominee. This election is so important and we should know all about the candidates, please take the time to watch and pass it on.

He knew Bill Ayers well, he lied.
He would not wear the flag pin showing support after 911
he was Barry all his life until visiting muslim countries and became Barack, what brought out his muslim background wanting to be Barack?
He stated the big tragedy of the civil rights movement was that there was no redistribution of wealth to minorities.
Took the American flag off of his plane and won't put hand over heart for pledge of allegiance.
He got an illegal deal on his home from a good friend, middle eastern who is now in jail and his friend got the money from an Iraqi, part of saddam's government.
He is very close to Reverend Wright for many years and knew of the reverend's anti American and racists rants and lied about knowing what he has said. As long as he was with Wright, it is obvious he had no problems with Wright's views.
LA Times has a video and won't release it showing obama at a party for a Hamas terrorist supporter.
There is so much more to see America if you investigate.
Obama has been photographed reading 'The Post-American World' -- it's a Muslim's view of defeating America from within.....HMMMMMMM wonder what his excuse for reading that book is.....WAKE UP AMERICA.....HE DOESN'T WANT TO HELP THE USA....HE WANTS TO DESTROY IT, PLEASE DON'T LET HIM.

      Ninerbobz--
Go to fact check. Don't just google something unless you are prepared to read every single article, take notes, identify biases on both sides and eventually weigh the evidence on both sides to make your decision. Most of the stuff you have listed has been out there for over a year--some of it longer than that. Most of these things were brought up during the primary contest with Hillary Clinton, were thoroughly investigated, and were not considered earthshaking. Some of what you wrote--particularly all the stuff about the American flag pin [he probably forgot it--I leave jewelry all over the place and never have it when I need it] and "refusing" to put his hand over his heart [by the way, in any given situation, only about half of the people remember to do this is just plain silly.
He is not a Muslim. Nobody seriously thinks that.
Obama served on a the board of a non-profit [the Annenberg foundation] with Bill Ayers. They live in the same neighborhood. I serve on the board of trustees at my church. When we have meetings, we never have a full complement of members present. I might see each of my fellow trustees 4 times a year for the meeting. We discuss church business, ask about each other's families, and go home [cause we have all worked all day and are tired]. There is very little socializing. Ayres had an introductiory coffee at his house for Obama when he ran for office. They live in the same neighborhood. That is typical political procedure.
Regarding Reverend Wright--I don't agree with every minister in whose congregation I have sat, but I don't think I would get up and shout him down, or walk out either. Please remember, Senator Obama, as someone who has lived and worked in the black community is used to this type of anger and has probably heard it many times. He also comes from an academic background where all sorts of view are expressed freely, even if they are not accepted by all who listen.
LA Times has a video and won't release it, because the person who gave it to them did it on the condition that they wouldn't release it. By the way, if you want to infestigate this Hamas terrorist supporter, as you call him, you ought to do so. He is an expert on the middle east and as such has been interviewed and quoted on the Palestinian-Israili conflict. That doesn't actually make him a terrorist supporter. He has said things critical of both sides.
I can see you are trying to evaluate the situation, and I agree there's a lot of rubbish out there, but you need to learn to discern the sensational from the true. There is a lot of slime being thrown around in this campaign.

    Goblue1968,

Not sure how to respond to what you wrote, but you're the nationality of the country of your birth. Kenya is in Africa. NE Africa has a huge mix of people who speak Arabic, French, English, and national tribal languages. If you were born in Switzerland, but you were raised by French speaking parents, would you be French?

More importantly, who'd care if Obama was 43.75% American-born Icelandic and 6.25% Australian and 1% Mohawk and 2% Freelance Writer and 19% Swiss Alpian? He's an American, and he's judged by the character of his person, not the color of his skin. Some simple American Civil Rights 411. Get with civil rights, or move out of the way for those of us who are rolling with it. Some day this great nation will have an American-born Japanese president, or an American-born Mexican president. 2008, almost 2009, it too late and too great for any of this ridiculous hate and fear.

    Get with it.

Is this guy kidding? Obama is an American, Period! He is the absolute example of what can happen if a person works hard, goes to school and gets an education. For anyone to say he does not respect our flag, our country or our troops has to be so misinformed and brainwashed that any form of logic has completely escaped their mind. Obama is half white and half black. HE IS ALL AMERICAN! To suggest otherwise is completely ludicrous. American needs an intelligent President. It???s time to stop electing C students like Bush to represent us as a country. McCain graduated 5th from the bottom of his class! Obama is a Harvard Graduate at the top of his class. The choice is obvious for anyone who has the least bit of common sense. I???m not saying that McCain is a bad person but his choice in Sarah Palin as his running mate clearly shows a lack of judgment especially with our country in a crisis. We are a nation that is barely surviving off its reputation. We no longer produce anything. We are a country of consumers and we don???t need another bottom of the barrel President flushing our prestige down the drain. The world is laughing that we keep electing People like McCain and Bush who are the bottom of their classes.

Why is it still a Race? Because of the "Big Lie's" almost every "right -wing" post continues them. Everything from"he's not a natural-born citizen" , he's a socialist ,to claiming he is not a Christian, and lets not forget those those bad associations of his, The Third-Reich propaganda ministry would be proud of You.
Citizenship: You are a natural born citizen if you are born here-legal theory Jus Soli, means of the soil. Thats why children born of illegal immigrants are citizens. OR you are a natural born citizen if Your parents are citizens--legal theory... Jus Sanguinis, means of the blood or by blood -right. Thats why John McCain is a natural born citizen even when he was born in Panama.
He's a socialist because he talks about redistributing wealth...Taxes are a redistribution of wealth to fund things that government must do because we as individuals cannot ,the difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans believe that we should lift the richest boats in the water ,where Democrats believe we should lift all the boats in the water.
He's not a Christan...well he says he is and nothing has been shown other wise. Some claim the proof is the school he attended as a child, well as we all know children do not have much of a say as to where they go to school or Church. My family changed Churches a number of times while I was growing up. I would also like to point out that some Christians are behaving in a very-UN-Christian manner.
Guilt by association...All those bad people he "hangs around" , Well one should be careful about our friends but are we personally responsible for every individual on a board or committee we serve on? John McCain and Sarah Palin ,are they to be rebuked for their associations if Obamma is? If McCain brings up Rezko should Obsmma bring up Keating? When they bring up Ayres should Obamma bring up The U.S. Council for World Freedom ,McCain was on the board and they were affiliated with, ???former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America.???
When Palin says Obamma is Anti-American should we ask her about Todd Palin???s membership in an anti-American, pro-secessionist Alaskan political party. If they bring up Rev. Wright should Obamma bring up Rev.Hagee ,who has referred to the Roman Catholic Church as "the great whore"
Please notice that the Obamma camp has not gone down the same path as McCain . Maybe McCain should remember something about "casting stone's

I try to listen only to the issues and ignore all the backstabbing. However there is one big issue I cannot ignore. McCain chose a running mate who does not know or understand the US Constitution. There have been two very clear instances (I was watching them) where she did not have a clue. I would have thought after the first goof she would have read it, but apparently not. When I was in school we had to pass a test on the Constitution before we were allowed to graduate from grade school and go into high school. Apparently Alaska doesn't have any such requirement. I am a registered republican but McCain's choice of a running mate has convinced me that he would not be good for America. I am one of the voters who is still undecided, but I do know it will not be for McCain/Palin.

I can not believe that they comment that on Obama being anti-American and a Muslim. First America was born because of religious freedom, the pubs think we should all be the same and if you are different you are not a true American. Palin's hubby is member of the succession group to be a country of their own, now is that an "I am a better American than you" attitude. Palin herself attended the sessions of this radical group that is an anti-American act. plus she is ignorant of the law and the constitution.
Obama's comment "spread the wealth" is something I agree with. My husband and I were middle class and now we are just lumped in the poor group due to pay increases being far below the cost of living increases for 8 years.
One more thing Clinton was on top of binhiden, he warned Bush and it and Bush ignored it. The attack happened under the republican senate, congress and the president. Clinton had the car bombed that he thought bin lande was in but it was his brother. So don't lie about Clinton not being on the watch, Bush minimized that risk, and 9/11 happened because he was all about Iraq and getting back at them for daddy. That is why he didn't care about the Taliban.
I am a Christian and the God I pray to loves everything living thing on this planet, and Muslins are not evil they just believe differently than I do.
The two men that blew up the Oklahoma building were Christians so does that mean all Christians are evil? No, it means those two men were evil. Every religion has it???s extremist, do not base any religion on the acts of a few extremist.
mcCain lies when you see his lips moving, he can't be trusted, and he is Bush jr. He never speaks about his policy he only bad mouths Obama. McCain is not fit to be President and that is why he will not be elected. I am going to make sure everyone I know goes to the voting booth to cast their vote. We can not win this election unless you do vote, don't think the race is over, keep your momentin up and be sure to vote for Obama on Tuesday.

Do you think if Obama was not protected by the media that he could answer questions
like the ones from Joe the plumber. Don't be fooled. Think and vote.

How many interviews has Palin given? But of course the media isn't protecting her; she's just off-limits because she's a woman (but that is SO not sexist, either). . .

Joe the Plumber? Give me a break, Joe the Plumber could not even pay his own taxes. That is all he has to offer, Joe the Plumber? I am a hard working American, but Joe the Plumber is far from representing who I am. I can't relate to Joe the Plumber and I am sure I am not the only one.
