How to bring down a democracy: the steps toward totalitarian rule, in the order followed by Hitler and the Nazi Party; SEE IF THEY SOUND FAMILIAR.

    1. Improvise an attack (or take advantage of an attack) on the country
    2. Declare the country under attack by an enemy; real or improvised
    3. Force legislation that limits civil liberties and gathers broad powers unto government
    4. Brand dissenters and peacemakers as unpatriotic and browbeat them into submission
    5. Keep the fear factor high to make the public easier to manage
    6. Institute massive propaganda campaigns using state-controlled no-longer-free media and fear of government retribution
    7. Law enforcement and government personnel and ordinary citizens are used to spy on, control and break dissent.
    8. Institute the equivalent of a national homeland security department, overseen by one person with unlimited powers
    9. Confiscate all firearms from the citizenry
    10. Institute the mass murder and imprisonment of any who resist the new ideology.
    11. Launch pre-emptive strikes into other countries in an attempt to spread the new ideology

Sound familiar? It should, its not only the direct path of Hitlers rise to power, but also parallels the events starting with and following 9/11. President Bush was very familiar with the game plan, as his Grandfather and his Grandfathers father-in-law were supporters of Hitler and Nazism, both before and after the war. (See George Herbert Walker and Prescott Bush and the Union Banking Corporation)

Of course, the Bush Administration has skipped a couple of the items on the list, but theyll get to them if their party is allowed to remain in power; it will be the only way for them to retain control over the citizenry.

THE BEST REASON TO VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA THIS ELECTION YEAR

    • Posted By: Kaviaq @ 11/01/2008 3:21:40 PM

Hooray! I was starting to think I was the only one noticing our slide into the Republican third reich! And remember, if you don't constantly say this is the best country in the world, you're anti-American! And if you question the government, you're anti-American. And everyone is falling for it!

Give me a break. You're delusional. You've turned your hatred for Bush into a religion. To avoid having an intelligent discussion on the facts, you simply equate him to the worst evil the world has seen in the past 100 years. How convenient. "Fear him, for he's the devil!" Wake up.

There are so many misrepresentations in the media via "news" reports (not thoroughly researched), ads and assertions by both candidates about the opposing candidates, that taking a look at personal character seems far more appropriate.
The news that Obama "didn't know" that his auntie is an illegal alien. Since he "visited" her four years ago in Boston he must have been aware that in spite of his personal fortune (in the millions) she is living in subsidized housing is a commentary on his character... and not a nice one. I intend to vote accordingly.
P.S. How many readers here actually know what stem cell research totally involves? Very few I suspect.

Can you check on this Sinclair fellow's claims about Obama on UTUBE? I don't want to say what it is but if it's not true, then it's the biggest whopper of all.

Hey gogrizzlies! G.W. is a politician, not a diplomat. B. Clinton was both. That is exactly what our country needs. B. Obama, in my opinion is just that. Seems the rest of the world thinks so, also (Readers Digest). We may be showing the rest of the world our military strength, but given our current financial crisis, I feel that our nation has been weakened and vulnerable. Right now, we are a severely weakened nation. Why G.W. doesn't understand that, is beyond me. His dad was the same way. Payed more attention to S. Hussein than domestic issues. Probably why he wasn't re-elected.

most conservative candidates has proudly served in the armed forces and can say that they are proud to be an american. most liberal candidates run to canada when things don't go their way, rallied against any war needed or not, and stuttered and paused when asked if they are proud to be american. all we want in this country is to be world power again and be one.

I'm not sure who you are, but you sound like an idiot! We are all Americans. If we did not fight and die for our country, than our ancestors did. Do not show your ignorance by touting that un-american or anti-america crap.

    FUN QUOTES FROM PALIN
I got all of these quotes off of google quotes
You really couldn't make up this kind of stuff up if you wanted to
This all part of the reason why so many important republicans have been saying she
    is a joke

When asked about her foreign policy experience she said
"As Putin rears his head," she said, referring to Russian prime Minister Vladimir Putin, "and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border."
TELLING THE TRUTH FOR A CHANGE SHE HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT HER RUN FOR VP
"It's time that normal Joe Six-Pack American is finally represented in the position of vice-presidency"
WHEN ASKED TO NAME ONE SUPREME COURT DECISION AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SHE CAME UP WITH THIS ANSWER
"I'm in that sense a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas"
when asked again to name one decision she responded
"Well, let's see. There's -- of course -- in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings"
When asked about being a redneck she said
"Someone called me a `redneck woman' once. You know what I said back? `Thank-you very much.'"
when asked what promises she might not be able to keep
"How long have I been at this, like five weeks? So there hasn't been a whole lot that I've promised, except to do what is right..."

Talking to dobson about prayer she said
"It is that intercession that is so needed and so greatly appreciated," Palin told Dobson. "And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation."

When asked about being a environmentalist she originally said
"I'm not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist blaming the changes in our climate on human activity."
when asked again later if she thought people had a impact on global warming
"Show me where I have ever said that there's absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change,"
    asked about voting she said
"I truly believe that the wisdom of the people will be rebuilt on [Election Day]. As they enter that voting booth, they will understand the stark contrast between the two tickets,"
when asked how mccain did at his first debate
"I just thought he was great, because the American people are angry, and John McCain is angry, too
when asked about tina feys imitation of her she said
"I watched it with the volume all the way down," Palin said. "I thought it was hilarious."

IS SHE KIDDING IS THIS WHOLE THING A JOKE
IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE SOMEONE COULD BE THIS CLUELESS
SOMEONE THAT THINKS THEY COULD RUN THE COUTRY NO LESS
VOTE OBAMA BIDEN NOW AND SEND HER BACK TO ALASKA

day people like Joe the plumber and not get embarrassed. Your a fool if you do.

Can someone just tell me what Obama's magic limit for taxes are? Just wondering because I've hear $250,000, $200,000, $150,000 $120,000 and $100,000 all this week. Please someone just tell me the real number because this seems to be a close your eyes and shoot for a number right now.

The only issue in this campaign that concers me is the issue of our economy. Senator bama has clearly repeatively made his views and his adgenda to resolve this problem pointing out the time necessary to do so. Each time McCain is asked what he plans to do about oue economy he changes the subject to his ability to win wars and as such fixing the economy should be easy. Day after day, month after month, this is what we have been fed. Only recently has McCain clearified just how serious Bush's failures have been, but his unsual super powers can fix it in his first term. McCain has recentky began to sound a lot like his but boy Lieberman.

General George S. Patton read the works of Rommel and Hitler, didn't make him a Nazi. Many people would benefit from reading "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. Written centuries ago, Sun Tzu knew there wasn't any country that benefitted from a protracted war. Given where we are today, it seems his wisdom is timeless.

The main reason that there was a surplace during the Clinton Administration was because Clinton closed a lot of Military Bases, Clinton cut funding for our Military, so that we were not ready for situations like 9/11, Our soldiers went to Iraq with improper , insufficent and useless body armor etc., and Clinton pushed for early retirement for Postal Workers, also his Admin. was very big on sending our jobs to other Countries... Look at the Agreements with S.America and Mexico.

There are six different candidates running for president on the ballot in Maryland. All are total wack jobs and the two biggest are the two listed at the top of the ballot ( Obama and McCain) It is really a shame that once a person gets involved in politics they loose any tendency they had in the past to tell the truth. It is time to Re Elect No One.

  • Posted By: smo61 @ 11/01/2008 3:27:03 PM

Why would we choose to believe YOUR take on the facts. In what way are you different from any of the other media troops? The crass stupidity of your readers makes me want to weep.

Well, Mr. "the glass is half empty" ... your cynicism makes me want to puke! Weep away, but I'm sure there are some folks that are reading and have read this article that are not stupid. Newsweek is a good publication and this article is giving out hand slaps to both candidates for their misleading ads.

And I'd like to know why the uncommitted, unelected delegates played such a strong role in getting Obama nominated. by the Democrats.? Once they started publicly announcing their intentions the press ran lafter him like the Pied Piper!
Did Obama win the popular vote or did Hillary??

It is hard to beleive that we would put a person in the presidential office who has not even proved himself yet in the political arena, I am sure that Obama is bought and paid for by many people, How arrigant can a person be by celabrating his victory on tuesday night, This to me is not a person whom cannot even make a simple decesion on weather to be arrigant or not...
all the solders that have died to keep us free and stable would be turning over in there graves. I wll vote on Tuesday, but it wont be for a person that has bought the presidential office, I will vote for a person that has earned the right to hold that office. Shame on america for even considering Obama,
