If I don't have a right to tell strange men what to do with their testicles, nobody should have the right to determine what happens (or not) within the confines of my uterus. So what is next? If a fertilized egg is a "PERSON" and a woman suffers a miscarriage it opens the door to examinations of that woman's conduct: A miscarriage would then equal criminal behavior like child endargerment, or negligent conduct...Did she forget to take her prenatal vitamins? Did she have a cup of coffee? Was she smoking? Why was she working a full-time job, when she needed to be in the kitchen, barefoot?! Where does the intrusion stop? When did the American female become a mere incubator?
So, what happens to those "PERSONS" after they are born to parents that don't want them? To a parent or parents that cannot take care of them? Cannot afford them? Parents that don't have health insurance? Parents that lost their jobs? Is Ms. Kristy (and supporters) going to adopt them all...give them ALL loving homes?! Nope. These "PERSONS" are going to fall into the system (any system): the welfare system, the foster care system, the prison system...take your pick. Systems that are supported by MY TAXES...my hard-fought, sweat-off my forehead, taxes. So thanks but, no thanks!
Either this country starts really educating children about sex, develop a more inclusive adoption system, "clean-up" Roe v. Wade (to make it really work in the way that it was intended), OR we do none of the above declare fertilized eggs to be "PERSONS," eliminate sex-education completely, and then increase my taxes to I can "gladly pay more...to stop murdering unborn people." Because it makes perfect sense that interest's of human cellular material are MORE important than the interests of hard-working americans who are ACTUALLY, CURRENTLY walking the earth. Perfect sense.

To the woman (Sylvia Bokor) who said a baby doesn't develop a personality until he/she is born, clearly you are not a mom. Any mother will tell you that a baby most definitely has a personality in the womb. You're only kidding (and by kidding, I mean lying to) yourself. Most arguments against "life" are feeble at best and if you're really honest with yourselves you'll admit that it's ridiculous that this is even an issue. And I guarantee you that anyone who is pro-life will gladly pay more taxes if it's stops the murdering of unborn PEOPLE! At the very least educate yourselves on exactly what procedure takes place. It's scientifically proven babies as old as 10 wks feel pain. Now, knowing that is still ok to burn them or suck them out of the womb with a vacuum or rip them apart limb by limb. If you think that's reasonable then we agree to disagree but don't be ignorant about the facts. It's an ugly, torturous procedure. I know several women who would give anything to go back and time and choose life. No one tells you the pain that some women carry with them for the rest of their lives. Let's be fair and present all the facts.

More and more disturbing stuff on Obama's past and his real intentions are just starting to surface.

As I predicted over a year ago ...... Obama is a big fraud and America is being duped !!

Not only does life begin at conception, except for rape or incest, when a woman gets pregnant she has already made her choice. Of course I believe there are exceptions to every rule, while I believe life begins at conception, I also believe there should be wiggle room for the mothers physical health, rape and incest. Abortion should not be a form of birth control!

    • Posted By: Progressive American @ 11/03/2008 11:44:50 AM

I agree it should not be a form of birth control. To prevent abortions from becoming a form of birth control there needs to be more social health marketing campaigns in these low income areas. By educating the community of the health and economic risks of unsafe sex, health organizers will be able to effectively lower the number of abortions that occur in the US. At the same time hopefully these preventative measures will also help lower the STD rates among lower income groups.

To MomWiz-- So a bureaucratic nightmare overturns the beginning of life as God intended. Excuse after excuse... it will all be ok!! So when is it that you are calling on the Lord in your time of trouble. Do you believe in His word then? Or will your troubles just be causing us another bureaucratic nightmare?????

      nonna,

God is not relevant in this issue (the law). Anyway there is no god so that is moot.

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

WHAT does this have to do with the topic being discussed here?

  • Posted By: Nowforsomemoretruth @ 11/01/2008 10:47:12 PM

The problem with Obama is a simple one. One association does not a radical make. But in Obama's case, the list of left-wing radical mentors and associates is seemingly endless, (Davis, Ayers, Wright, Khalidi , etc., etc.) with a new revelation practically every day. With that, a picture begins to emerge, and that picture is that Obama is as steeped, not in just left-wing political thought, but in radical left-wing and race ideology, to the same extent that Pat Robertson was steeped in the ideology of the radical Religious Right. I would not have voted for Pat Robertson for dog catcher, and for similar reasons, I will not vote for Obama.

The Wall Street crisis was planned the night of Obama's meeting at Bill Ayres home to put Obama in The White House. Together they put a beautiful plan into place.

This Strategy was first elucidated in the 1966 issue of 'The Nation' Magazine by a pair of radical Socialist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

    David Horowitz summarizes it as:

"The strategy of forcing political change through an orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of Capitalism by overloading the Government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
    unquote

Obama begin with ACORN by funneling millions into their organization. He then trained ACORN to stage protests in banks to force them to issue risky loans or they would be threatened to face racial charges. ACORN was trained to intimidate financial institutions into giving ???Ninja??? loans to people with NO assets, NO job and NO income, who couldn???t afford these loans.

That caused the housing bubble two years ago it was by ACORN's actions they were able to destroy our credit system.

As this played out, D-Barney Frank and D-Chris Dodd were able to cover up the millions of improvident loans to these bad risky house buyers. And Barney Frank and his chums successfully were able to block all of President Bush's attempts to put a rein on this problem.

So Fannie & Freddie was forced to purchase all these failed subprime mortgages.

Then both Frank and Dodd denied that there were any problems, and refused the Bush Admin. requests to set up a regulatory agency to watch over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and they were still pushing for these agencies to go even further in promoting sub-prime mortgage loans almost up to the 'minute they failed'.

Democrats then blamed Bush saying it happened on his watch knowing it would hurt the Republican Party in the election setting it up that Barack Obama could use this to his advantage.

Karl Marx once compared a Revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface.

Barack Obama is that Marxist mole !

Who calls out to God in a time of need?? I'd say 9 out of 10!! So does that mean those 9 believe in God? If so then why when God says life begins at conception so many don't believe? Either you believe or don't, you can not have it both ways. A fertilized egg which is LIFE comes from the breath of God.... If you think you are old enough to have sex then you should be old enough to know about proper birth control. Most of this mess is because people use abortion as birth control. Try a condom or the pill! Have you ever seen an aborted baby? I saw a dumpster full with some babies fully formed. Maybe one of those aborted babies would of developed the cure for cancer or aids, If girls/women would keep their legs together and boy/men keep their
penis in their pants we wouldn't have "unwanted" babies!!! If life as you say begins wirh a heartbeat and brainwaves how come those babies are getting aborted? How come Peterson got convicted of killing two?

    • Posted By: Blue in AZ @ 11/02/2008 9:11:00 PM

You've seen a dumpster full of aborted babies? Where the hell do you hang out? That sounds like a serious sanitation issue.

Ok, knock it off. You're full of it. There are no dumpsters full of aborted babies and even if there were, the chainlink fences and razorwire and security guards that clinics are forced to use to keep crazies like you out would keep you from seeing them. Medical remains are cremated. You've seen some re-constructed monstrosity concocted out of baby dolls and corn syrup then uploaded to some pro-life propaganda site. Oh,

      Oh

  • Posted By: expatincebu @ 10/31/2008 7:20:10 PM

These people are just totally nuts. Millions dead and tens of millions maimed because of war, no problem. Hundreds of millions around the world starving or without access to safe water, no problem. Millions of American children with no health care, no problem. USA with the highest infant mortality rate of industrialized nations, no problem. Flush a zygote down the toilet though and the world is going to end.

    • Posted By: ZappoDaClown @ 10/31/2008 7:40:07 PM

Yeah...I definitely agree that she' s pro war and pro starvation...and ignores the health care of children....NOT. Try this: how about she's fighting a fight she thinks is worth fighting? Your logic is faulty. Why assume she's against those other things just because she's FOR saving a babies life? Does calling the baby a zygote make you feel better about it being 'flushed down the toilet'? How about the millions of babies killed through abortion each year. What about those lives? Don't you care about them?

      • Posted By: Old Enough @ 10/31/2008 9:44:56 PM

to zappodaclown, well I guess from the start that your name speaks for most of your thinking, men shoud have no say in an issue that concerns a womans body.when men can carry a child to birth, then and only then will your voice be heard above the millions who have died and the millions who are without a father in the home working and taking care of his family. if you find that abortion will so wrong stop making children with women who have to use abortion because you failed to pratice birth control.

        • Posted By: ZappoDaClown @ 11/01/2008 2:25:37 AM

So, it's better to be killed than be fatherless. It's better for a woman who doesn't want a child to kill it rather than give it to someone who would raise it (selfishness). The old argument is that it's not common to have more than one...it's only in case of rape...no one does it unthinkingly. I have a family member who has had so many abortions that they turned her away because it would damage her body if she had another. She's not alone. Blanket abortion rights are not the answer. Uncontrolled killing of babies because they are 'unwanted'...shameful. People want them. My purpose in commenting the first time was to point out the fallacy that because she is speaking up for one issue she feels passionate about it doesn't mean she discounts the others. Liberals are only liberal minded, it seems, if we agree with THEM.

          • Posted By: ZappoDaClown @ 11/01/2008 2:34:26 AM

            • Posted By: klonity @ 11/01/2008 7:02:45 PM

Being a liberal and quide proud of it. I must take a bit of offence at the notion that I am only liberal if you agree with me. I don't care if you agree with me or not frankly, I support strongly the idea that you can believe as you like. What I have a problem with as to the conservative community is their idea that they have a right to force their beliefs on me. I detest abortion, but I can't force my views on those who disagree. Especially if I will never be able to have an abortion as I have no uterus. My only bet is to try to educate those whom I feel are in error to understand their error and change their ways. It is the same with those anti gay marriage types, no one is forcing any one to marry a same gendered partner. Well this is a free country supposedly, so you think its wrong well don't do it then, what gives you the right to force your oppinion on any one else? The religious right and their ilk do not seem to like or understand freedom.

Blue. I am very very sorry about your miscarriages and further unsuccessful attempts to get pregnant. I am sorry that it seems to make you feel better to tell yourself that your children were a "clump of cells". I of course have no idea how far along you were, but after 30 days the heart is beating. After 12 weeks the body is completely formed, a full human being body, not just an un-identified clump of cells. Yes, I amdamrreligious. However My knowledge adn beliefs are based as a neonatal ICU nurse. we save them after 23

sorry ran out of room while registering. We save them after 23 weeks. At what point would you stop calling them a "clump of cells". For myself I have in anatomy lab seem them at each stage of development as well as ultrasound pictures. I am telling you facts based on science. Not religion. You can call it what you want. Also many times later I have seen severely premie babies born to women that have had several past abortions. You interupt a natural process and mess up the womans body. It hurts the woman too. But no one tells them that.

                  • Posted By: Blue in AZ @ 11/02/2008 8:22:24 PM

Oh believe me, plenty of people are telling them that. I've only had one personal experience with abortion and that was driving my 19 year old sister-in-law to have one. The people screaming and waving signs at us outside the clinic were pretty determined to tell her all about how abortion gives you cancer and makes you infertile, neither of which are true. It's a fear tactic. And the further these wackos go in their effort to "save the babies" the more women will die from unsafe procedures. But pro-lifers don't seem to care about the actual women.

MicheleC, Determining the transition from "cells" to "human being" is not an easy issue. Medical science has pushed the boundary earlier than natural childbirth. But, this discussion is about "personhood" starting at fertilization. Your medical observations make it clear how absurd this is. There is no heartbeat, no brainwaves, no viability. How can this fertilized egg have the same rights as me and you? as the mother that carries it?

I would calling them a clump of cells after they could survive without MY clump of cells, otherwise known as my body. My first pregnancy ended after 5 weeks, the second at almost 3 months. They say you are safe at three months. that is not true. And I KNOW it was a clump of cells because I SAW the first one. I'll spare you the gory details. But what came out of me was not a person. It was never meant to be a person. It was a clump of tissue. And please don't suggest that these were "my children". As a nurse you should know that many pregnancies end before the women even know they're pregnant. It's nature's way of taking care of something that just isn't right. And these nuts are trying to legislate it. You tell me, if those clumps of tissue were really people, should I be facing manslaughter charges? I am a runner, maybe I'm also a murderer?

At what point will society stop? Have any of you read the Handmaid's Tale?

Zappo, abortion is a strictly personal choice. Nobody should make that choice for you. Who are we to judge a rape victim for not wanting to keep a constant reminder of her assault and humiliation? And besides, most pro-life people are not pro-life at all, they are merely pro-birth. They couldn't care less about the crack babies, rape babies, etc., after they are born. They don't care about those abandoned, emotionally, and physically scarred children, that end up in our broken foster care system. Abortion shouldn't be used as a regular method of birth control, but there are sircumstances in life that warrant that choice. And until you have been in one of those sircumstances you should reserve your judgement of others.

Obama's Links To Radicals Starting To Surface!! www.newsmax.com/timmer

Obama-Farrakhan Ties Are Close, Ex-Farrakhan Aide Says

A former top deputy to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan tells Newsmax that Barack Obama???s ties to the black nationalist movement in Chicago run deep, and that for many years the two men have had ???an open line between them??? to discuss policy and strategy, either directly or through intermediaries.

???Remember that for years, if you were a politician in Chicago, you had to have some type of relationship with Louis Farrakhan. You had to. If you didn???t, you would be ostracized out of black Chicago,??? said Dr. Vibert White Jr., who spent most of his adult life as a member and ultimately top officer of the Nation of Islam.
White broke with the group in 1995 and is now a professor of African-American history at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
White said Obama was ???part of the Chicago scene??? where Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. and radicals would go to each other???s events and support each other???s causes.
???Even though Chicago is the third-largest city in the country, within the black community, the political and militant nationalist community is very small. So it wouldn???t be uncommon for [Obama and Farrakhan] to show up at events together, or at least be there and communicate with each other,??? White told Newsmax.
The Anti-Defamation League has denounced Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam as a ???hate group.???
Farrakhan has called Jews ???bloodsuckers,??? ???satanic??? and accused them of running the slave trade. He has labeled gays as ???degenerates.??? In a 2006 speech, the ADL again condemned Farrakhan when he said: ???These false Jews promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength. ??? It's the wicked Jews the false Jews that are promoting lesbianism, homosexuality. It's wicked Jews, false Jews that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!"

What does redistributive mean. Well, remember that it was the Left-Wing of the Supreme Court that brought us this little jewel, holding that the government could take your real property, like your home, not for public use, but to give to another private individual, such as a political contributor or other party hack or interest group.

Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005), was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case arose from the condemnation by New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property so that it could be used as part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan. The Court held in a 5-4 decision that the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the majority opinion; he was joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer

The decision was widely criticized by American politicians and the general public. Many members of the general public viewed the outcome as a gross violation of property rights and as a misinterpretation of the Fifth Amendment, the consequence of which would be to benefit large corporations at the expense of individual homeowners and local communities. Some in the legal profession construe the public's outrage as being directed not at the interpretation of legal principles involved in the case, but at the broad moral principles of the general outcome.
