How clearly we now see that the misnamed "pro-life movement," is really more interested in keeping abortion rights alive as a wedge issue than they are concerned with "the Life of the Unborn." It's not the right time?? What is that supposed to mean?? I sure hope this wakes people up. There are some things nearly all Americans can agree on. Let's elect leaders who will govern with common sense to get that bit of change accomplished instead of voting on a single isssue.

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

to pecandeb Here's one problem with your suggestion. Bad people (who are found in both major parties) will get guns, because they do so illegally. Whether there are more stringent laws or not, bad people will get guns. So to try and make it more difficult for decent people to get guns is absolute stupidity. It's easy for the bad people to get them either way. Additionally I'd like to know when does a fetus gain rights? when it gets fingerprints? is it at 3 months? 6 months? 9 months? at birth? If there's no beginning, then why do we who have been blessed to have a mother who cared enough to let us live have any rights now. How is that equal? How is that fair?

This is actually very logical. If the basis of the right-to-life position is that a fetus is a person, then say so via legislation. I'm wouldn't be in favor of it were I living in Colorado, but I applaud the young lady for her principled and logical stance!

My prayers are with you Kristi....I'm at wits end that activists defend turtles laying their fertilized eggs at the beaches, but they won't defend a human fertilized egg. All the concern they have about lights on the beachfront, people walking around, etc....but doesn't give a regard for human fertilized egg....Or people who plant seeds in their garden water, nourish the land, weed around, etc...but not a human egg. .And these pro-life leaders...now is not the time???? When will be the time???? When it's too late????

it's scary to see that the right of abortion may be taken away. I find that abortion is a liberty every couple or woman should have. Whats the recourse to abortion? A mother forced to raise a child she doesn't want? Adoption? There is no proof that an egg that has been fertilized has a soul and there is no proof of a soul. What do these right wing nuts base their arguments on? The Bible? The Bible also says that you can live in a whale's belly for 3 days and that if you make a tower tall enough to get too close to heaven he'll make everyone speak a different language. I swear if they take away abortion I'm leaving this country. We're becoming backwards hillbilly's. Aaargh same people think that people being gay should be a crime.....

Excellent post, you stole my thunder. How does Bushy sleep at night with the blood of hundreds of thousands of people on his hands ? It makes my skin crawl to think of Bush, Cheney, Rove,et al...calling themselves "Christian".

      • Posted By: MicheleC1 @ 11/01/2008 7:46:46 PM

I don't know. As I am not for Bush and his war either. However I as a neonatal ICU nurse have never understood how an abortionist sleeps at night after tearing apart a baby limb from limb. Or performing a partial birth abortion.

Question: a happily married 25-year old women is 6 weeks pregnant - she just started to wonder. She takes a pregnacy test, and, oh joy, she is pregnant. At 7 weeks she suffers a miscarriage. What happens now: will there be a police investigation into the death of the foetus? Did the mother smoke before she realised she was pregnant and did smoking contribute to the miscarriage. Was she stressed at work, under pressure to do more, or worried that she might lose her job? Did that stress contribute to her miscarriage? Did the mother attend the wedding of her best friend 3 weeks earlier and got a bit drunk? Did drinking alcohol contributed to the miscarriage? What if the woman doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, didn't suffer from stress at work, who would this lady blame for the death of this unborn human being? And what if the mother did smoke, drink or suffered from stress while being pregnant, even if she didn't realise? What's the punishment going to be? Jail?

If a fertilized egg is a person then isn't a sperm or an egg half a person and deserve rights based on that half person hood? The stupidity of the Evangelical racist minority knows no bounds.

ok tow point s have to be made!
    A. ghostmasseur is right in many ways it all depends on your deffintion for life
    B. If hundres of peopl get away with murder and the normal time spend actually in jail for a life sentence on murder six (6) years then why does it matter?

  • Posted By: Randy Crawford @ 11/01/2008 5:18:05 PM

Dont want choices pushed on other people? Don't abort them. It's murder.

    • Posted By: ghostmasseur @ 11/01/2008 5:42:45 PM

It is not murder. It is not even killing. It is simply termination of pregnancy. Nothing more since the only life or person in the equation is the woman.

For those that so callously criticize and slam Christians, here is food for thought; one of the Ten Commandments is 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'. Ring a bell? Nobody has any room to brag on the one. Any woman that defends her 'right to kill the unborn' should be introduced to the idea of contraception devices. It is hardly a new idea. These women claim their 'right to control their own bodies'; yet they hardly ever take responsibility for it...or control it in most cases. The hypocrisy is astounding.

    • Posted By: ghostmasseur @ 11/01/2008 5:39:00 PM

      techresmgt,

"For those that so callously criticize and slam Christians, here is food for thought; one of the Ten Commandments is 'Thou Shalt Not Kill'. Ring a bell?"

Sorry genius but the correct translation of the Hebrew (and the original is Hebrew) is Thou shall not commit murder" and Judaism does not define abortion as murder because Judaism has always said that life begins at birth. Since the book you are quoting from is first and foremost a JEWISH text, the Jewish interpretation takes precedence.

Of course we are talking about US law here so what religions think is of no value because religions do NOT speak with one mind on this issue (many Christians do not think that abortion is murder and most Jews do not think it is murder, and many other religions feel the same way) so accepting the views of one or a few groups within a religion is establishing religion and is against the US Constutution.

Why should the fact that YOU believe in the 10 Commandments have anything to do with anyone else? We're governed by government, not god. They should have nothing to do with one another. And if these women are so irresponsible with their bodies, why do you want them bringing new lives into the world? So you can slam them some more when they need government assistance? Boy, you Christians sure live up to your kind, non-judgemental standards don't you? Why do you think you know better than everyone else?

    • Posted By: kaj_pagan @ 11/01/2008 10:32:38 AM

Sorry techie...the "thou shalt not kill" argument is meaningless in a war mongering country where the death penalty is still the order of the day. I will say this though...there is a Bible verse that you could quote regarding abortion that is unequivocal and convincing. Bet you don't know what that is do you? Of course you don't...lol

  • Posted By: miggetgirl @ 11/01/2008 5:38:03 PM

lol i agree with blue in AZ I'm use to not having much of a choice cuz i have lived in other countrys and you know it's not that bad to not be able to make a decsion for yourself but wow this is more amusing!

  • Posted By: miggetgirl @ 11/01/2008 5:24:31 PM

OK THAT'S IT FIRST TIME I GET PERGANT I'M KILLING BY PUNCHING MYSELF IN THE TUMMY JUST FOR YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!! - seriously all american want to do is fight to make everyone think thier way!

    • Posted By: Blue in AZ @ 11/01/2008 5:32:59 PM

Randy's just mad he doesn't have a choice. This is one area where women actually have some control (at least for now). There are certain men who just won't be happy until they can control everything.

  • Posted By: miggetgirl @ 11/01/2008 5:17:19 PM

I agree with lange in a way this topic should be left alone as i stated in my last post because everyone get a choice to make dont make it for them but apparently this is still only about is there life in the womb but then once you pop that baby out parenting skills, finiaces dont matter so you know life in the womb important but if it has a horrific life who cares right?

  • Posted By: Lange @ 11/01/2008 5:10:31 PM

Are we only concerned with life up until it leaves the womb and then it doesn't matter anymore?

  • Posted By: miggetgirl @ 11/01/2008 5:08:30 PM

omg! we gone over this a thousand timein history! your prolife other are prochoices!
