Why We Need to Call a Pig a Pig (With Or Without Lipstick)

We know Orwell for his novels, but it's the way he saw the politics of language that makes him relevant.

Orwell was absolutely correct about political language, and the relevance today is especially apt. Unfortunately, in the current environment, every faction is convinced that it is a disease of the "others". Few seem willing to analyze how they themselves, or their political allies are abusing language, or manipulating it for propaganda. These are frightening times.

Animal Farm was also about the false notion of equality. All equally miserable with the pigs leading. Some animals are more equal than others, to paraphrase. This is what equality means to those who promise something for some, at the expense of others. Sound familiar?

Why is this discusion on Orwell all about Obama and Palin? Anyhow, Orwell was a brilliant writer and everyone should read his work. "The Road to Wigan Pier" is very interesting about the lives of the coal miners. It is kind of confusing becaue he uses British money and it was written around 1930, so it is impossible to figure out exactly how much money he is talking about for wages, cost of food, etc. But you get the general idea. I read Animal Farm in 8th grade or so, and it made an impact on me, even though I didn't fully understand it at the time.

When I first read 1984, it seemed fantastical that there could exist a department that shredded old newspapers into a memory hole and rewrote them continuously. Now we have the internet where history is continually rewritten and language bastardized. The author of this article is correct as you call tell by reading the comments section below any of these articles that toss words around that bear little resemblence to their actual originally intended meanings and are used as blunt political tools.

How come most of these comments aren't about Orwell at all?

Anyway, if I had lived in the first half of the twentieth century, I'm pretty sure I would have been a communist -- up until the day I read "Animal Farm." That one book, more than any other, explains why Communism won't work -- not just why it hasn't worked, but why it CANNOT work. It should be required reading for every sentient being.

This is what Sarah Palin said to an Alaskan reporter right after the findings of the ethics investigation were released and it was CLEARLY STATED in the report that Sarah Palin had abused her power:

"I'm very very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing, any um, any hint of any kind of unethical activity there, very pleased to be clared of any of that."

What? She was found to have abused her power. It says so right in the report. Palin delutes any meaning when she talks in circles, she outright lies and lies in order to not deal with what she has done. We do not need any more of this in our leadership. Say what you mean and mean what you say or you will be found uncredible.

Anyone who's been around a farm knows: Pigs are pigs. They like to roll around in their own waste to cool off. Period.

The problem with Obama is a simple one. One association does not a radical make. But in Obama's case, the list of left-wing radical mentors and associates is seemingly endless, (Davis, Ayers, Wright, Khalidi , etc., etc.) with a new revelation practically every day. With that trend, a picture begins to emerge, and that picture is that Obama is as steeped, not in just left-wing political thought, but in radical left-wing economic and race ideology, to the same extent that Pat Robertson was steeped in the ideology of the radical Religious Right. I would not have voted for Pat Robertson for dog catcher, and for similar reasons, I will not vote for Obama.

Then lets call it ''pro-abortion'' instead of ''pro-choice'' Jennie.
Lets call it ''repeal'' instead of ''reform''
Lets call it a ''downturn'' instead of an ''adjustment''
''Corrruption'' instead of ''ethically challenged''[or ''challenged'',anything]

    ''Hacks'',instead of ''journalists''..................

Eric Blair was born at Motihari (Bihar) in India where his father was an officer in the opium department of the British government. His mother took infant Blair to England. Thus the statement in this article that he was born in South Wold of UK is not correct. The mistake should be corrected.

This moronic scumbag Samuel J. Wurzelbacher "Joe the Plumber" had his AZ driver license suspended

    http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/128323

Wurzelbacher, who lived in Mesa in 2000 and had an Arizona driver's license, had his driver's license suspended by the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division on May 4, 2000, following a nonpayment of a court-imposed fine for civil traffic violations, according to court records.

...owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes, according to public records, still owes more than $700 to the Mesa court system.

Records show he was cited for failure to stop at a red light and for failure to provide proof of insurance on Feb. 9, 2000, in a black Dodge truck at the intersection of Dobson and Baseline roads in Mesa.

After failing to pay his original fine of $627.50 issued in March 2000, his license was suspended and the fine was handed over to a collection agency along with a 16 percent surcharge. The now-resident of Holland, Ohio, still owes $727.90 to the Mesa Municipal Court, according to court records.

Hopefully the collection agency will break both of his legs so he'll never be able to walk nor work ever again. This typical Republican scumbag deserves it.

Obama's plan for jobs on Pennsylvania, Virginia , West Virginia , Kentucky, Tennessee, and other states, and Obama's plan for dealing with the high cost of energy, including electricity generation.

An audiotape of an interview Barack Obama did in January 2008 with The San Francisco Chronicle has surfaced in the final days of the presidential campaign. On the tape Obama tells the interviewer, . " so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. . . It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not Pennsylvania? We have seen this before, yes? Something about guns and religion.

And why did Newsweek take their story on the Pennsylvania campaign down yesterday after this story broke?

In a reverse psychology sort of way, I kind of hope that, the Democrats get their 60 seat house majority (Obama's already got the executive branch in the bag). This will give the social program supporters what amounts to a blank check to all of our bank accounts to pass out as they see fit. Once, our medical community is completely socialised, reparations are handed out right and left, and the country finally breaks down to what Russia did at it's lowest point, (bread lines, off the chart unemployment, etc), the maybe, just maybe people people may realize that capitalism really does work better..

And lets not forget the Court, and decisions like Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005).

What does redistributive mean. Well, remember that it was the liberal Left-Wing Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court that brought us this little jewel, holding that the government could take your real property, like your home, not for public use like a road or school, but to give to another private individual, such as a political contributor or other party hack or interest group. You remember this one.

Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005), was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case arose from the condemnation by New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property so that it could be used as part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan. The Court held in a 5-4 decision that the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the majority opinion; he was joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer.

The decision was widely criticized by American politicians and the general public. Many members of the general public viewed the outcome as a gross violation of property rights and as a misinterpretation of the Fifth Amendment, the consequence of which would be to benefit large corporations at the expense of individual homeowners and local communities. Some in the legal profession construe the public's outrage as being directed not at the interpretation of legal principles involved in the case, but at the broad moral principles of the general outcome.

In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" Obama unintentionally revealed that he really is as radical as his early political mentors and acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, Khalidi etc., (gee, there sure seem to be a lot of them) and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Now there is absolute proof. In 2001, Obama, the "community organizer" turned legislator, said in an interview:

"And I think one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the civil rights movement became so court-focused, I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that,"

    2001 Chicago Public Radio Interview.

Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html

Indeed, some democrats are publically saying as much. See Barney Franks comments on the news, including face the nation last week, stating essentially that Democrats in Congress intend to greatly raise taxes and go on a spending spree.

    See http://www.taxfoundation.org/blog/show/23617.html

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

Obama and a supermajority of Democrats simply is not the change we need, nor is it change we can afford.

Barack Obama and his spouse have opened the wounds of racism. Calling thing that are not racist racist is creating a mood in the country that black folks everywhere are out for the big take over at any cost including the old doesn???t work ploy of threatening rioting. Obama is the worst set back for equality since this country begin.
We become what we are around. Our values, attitude and beliefs are formed by the people we associate with. We take on the drives and goals of those who teach us and those who aspire to specific aims that we are allied with.
Ayres is a documented terrorist. Wright wants God to Damn America. Rezko cheated the American Public. Fleger has abhorrence for America. Franklin Rains cheated America.
Acorn tries to bribe you and intimidate you to vote with and for all the above. And, the list of shady characters goes on and on and on.
While McCain may not be your number one choice for President he will and has defended America. He is offering his life for America and has proven he would/will die for America. None of Osama???s associates would do that and they trained Obama.
Don???t be duped by the pretty and empty talk. Obama allows his brother to live in a slum and his Dear Auntie to live in a slum. What makes you think he has any compassion for you when he ignores his own family???s basic needs?
Think about that! Than vote from you heart as well as your mind

Orwell was profound - power does corrupt absolutely. Whenever I hear some state that he/she will make my life easier/better - I cringe - so should you.

Sarah palin when asked about becoming vp responded

"As for that VP talk all the time, I tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me, 'what is it exactly that the VP does every day......"

After she had been the nominee for around 2 months she was asked again and this time said

[T]hey???re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.

WRONG THE VP IS THERE TO STEP IN IF SOMTHING HAPPENS TO THE PRESIDENT ONLY THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH POLICY AND THEY DONT RUN THE SENATE!!
If she doenst know what the vice pres or presidant does why would we give her the job

Mccain has around a 40 percent chance because of his age in not being able to

complete his term picking palin was about as smart as picking any other mrs Alaska contestant.

Its not just that we disagree with her answers in alot of cases she doesnt understand basic questions
like what is the bush doctrine, or what do you read.
    These are not gotcha questions!!!
One of advisors recently said not only was she unqualified but said mccain picked her after 1 interview of about a hour
and that even at mcdonalds you get 3 interviews.
Members of her own campaign called her a diva and a whack job.
They would know better then anyone else right now.

So mccain gambled and he lost big. He ended up with a girl that cant answer questions that most of the people reading this can answer.
at the same time mccain could never read this blog because he cant use a computer at all.
I mean his wife has 100 million dollars get him classes or something.

Am i crazy or do we want a computer literate president and a vp who can answer a least basic questions.
If you read the rest of the articles on this site you would think the world is about to end
So if thats the case these are the last 2 people you want running anything.
    let send them packing.

    ELECT OBAMA BIDEN NOW
